the three as we will work to do what is in the best interest of the city thank you thank you council member Chapman yes yes so I just want to thank um all of the people of Asbury Park who came out and supported a and Ivonne and I in our election um you know I ran for the first time in 2016 with Amy and Ivonne and it was and John War at the time was an exciting time to be here in Asbury Park and be on the council they had already done so much work and made so much progress in the city that I was grateful to be part of that journey and then fast forward to now well it wasn't that fast actually we had a lot done in the meantime but here we are and we're the same team and you know when you same team we don't always agree on everything um we all have our own opinions but we come together we talk them through we do what's best for the city and I'm um grateful and honored to be serving the residents of Asbury Park with this team and just want to acknowledge my family who's here tonight my husband um who gives a lot of of his own time to the projects that I'm doing my sister Joan and her her husband Arty who are here and my daughter Melanie and Grandson Jack they're all very encouraging supportive and grateful I am for the mayor of Asbury Park who continues to be supportive and a character and always keeps us on our toes and you know none of this would exist without Mayor John Moore that's it I second that number one everybody says it's too late to say happy New Year it's never too late to me especially with people I haven't seen so again Happy New Year to all of you thank you for coming out today Eileen uh Ivon Amy congratulations on your Victory uh Town made the right decision uh looking forward to this year hoping it's a great year like past years have been when Ivon bring a screwdriver you don't have to bring a ladder the fire department do all the work I mean so at least it was the short version today but know it is a great event so again thank you all for coming today it's deeply appreciated and again uh people have said it it's the truth uh we're not perfect we're going to make some mistakes here and there if you don't call us out on them shame on you if you see something wrong and You' let it sit for two weeks and wait till it come council meeting totally wrong bring it to attention as soon as possible either through the portal we will have phone microphone state your name and address for the record and there will be a thre minute time limit for each speaker my name is Jacob Cohen can you hear me take1 Lincoln Court Long Branch and uh I want to congratulate you all wish you all a Happy New Year it's nice to see everybody it's nice to be back in Asbury John thank Jake um I just want to talk for a moment about uh the Holy Spirit Church I think it's a beautiful building I remember it from the 60s when I was a boy I remember the beautiful congregations on the Sundays and on the Christmas and Easter and I know we're trying to save the building and I'm all for it but I think think this study that was done by the developer might be a little deficient I don't think they took into account a bunch of things um I mean a report is only as good as the people who did it and the input and the knowledge that they had when they were doing it so I called I I didn't I wasn't at the meeting when you were discussing this I wasn't noticed I own uh a 15 18 whatever it is bedroom complex right outside the 250t the 200t zone that got noticed so I called uh Michelle I think her name is the I think she's in charge of Redevelopment the city planner right and I spoke to her a couple of days ago and I said I really had some concerns CU they want to put in a 50 seat Cafe and uh a museum and some office space and I was like you know know there's multiple multiple buildings in the surrounding blocks it's a residential area that don't have any off o off street parking and and this this study was done two days it was done Friday the 22nd for 3 hours in the afternoon and Saturday the 23rd between 11: and 4:30 and that's when they did this study I think this study should be done by like the city and not by the developer I think this little nipit window because I sat on the board of adjustment for the city we took all concerns of the public Pastor you sat with me when we when we were there together and you wanted to prove everything because you're a pro kind of development guy I love you God peace be with you always and and but when we approve things they're forever they're for perpetuity and I I want to see that building saved but I got some concerns that there's not enough parking there now and what if they're saying on the weekend that they don't need any parking for almost 9,000 square ft of office space I said to the guy on the phone today from this the people who made this report what if they rent that space to like a sir your time is up you can finish your sentence okay what if they rent it to a telemarketing company and it's 7 days a week 24 hours a day and what if the the restaurant wants to open after hours and and serve the bars there has to be some restrictions you guys in my opinion are doing a great job but we have to we're putting allowing all this in a residential Zone and we could Curt curtail it excuse me okay Jacob thank you and uh no obviously we're not discussing that today but you know obviously we're not voting or discussing that today but uh your comments are noted uh the next time it's on the agenda I'll make sure I reach out to you and let you know oh that's all ni see you John hey how long have we known each other 40 some years yeah so no problem but uh valid concerns and that's why we want public feedback and that's why I said before don't wait for anything I I I don't really have a lot of knowledge because I missed the last meeting because I wasn't noticed so I'm playing catchup and I'm a little ignorant to what happened just lacking know you can watch it on APV on yeah you can go to YouTube and pull up the dates it's easier that way I'll try to come to all the meetings I like to see the building sa but I don't want to back okay okay we're gonna have to move on because other people here thank you very much congratulations thank you good seeing you thank you very much anyone else want to speak L up Hi how are you guys doing today my name is Thomas congratulate the three ladies that just won the election uh eileene Ivon and Amy I look forward to continuing a relationship with all of you including John but the one thing that I want to say is empowered women Empower women so let's continue to do that let's continue to lift one another up because as the saying go I am my brother's k we are our assistance keeper so thank you and congratulations and congratulation Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn for third fourth time I don't know well it's going to be the last time because next time she's going to be mayor congratulations to you all thank you Jesse Sylvia Sylvia chofy 200 Lincoln Drive Ocean Township first I agree with mayor Moore it's never too late to say happy new year so happy New Year to everybody in the room um I have two things one I want to congratulate all of you um on your Victory and the entire Council for being so wonderful I don't even live here and you are my favorite mayor and Council in the world um are you looking for a raise I should pay you for working here um I I work in Asbury I've been here for a decade about and um I haven't had an opportunity to formally thank all of you and particularly Tom Pinsky and the environmental shade tree commission and your DPW Department who I adore for um planting that permanent Christmas tree downtown in memory of my americ Amer hero um husband uh New York City firefighter Michael chafy who as you know when I got my job at the chamber one of the things the city had asked us to do was plant that 25 foot tree downtown and I couldn't my husband did that every year he didn't know that when I got my job that meant he was going to do my job and he did it and he was happy to and he became very close with so many people here and you guys became our family and having that living Memorial to him makes the recent loss of him a lot easier so thank you and I love you all especially Tom Pinsky um thank you guys so much thank you Tom pavinski 16007 Emory Street chair of the environmental shade Tre commission sentenced the next five years which is really interesting um well first of all congratulations obviously Amy probably doesn't remember but uh she started her career in Asbury Park oil and geese eggs and uh she she Advanced from eggs to this congratulations in particular Amy uh two things uh Sylvia thank you for your words and uh invite in terms of the environmental shry commission there are two things that we really need U we have great support from the city and we appreciate that we have an enormous amount of support from people who appreciate the work that we've done in terms of planting trees and Gardens but we do need two things one we need someone who is there for us who can write grants we don't have anyone in our commission who is capable of writing grants and there is so much money out there especially for the environment and for the shade tree commission but we miss out on it because we don't have anyone who can do that for us um the second thing uh which I just forgot terrible being 82 you forget where you're even we need grants that's I'll stick with the grants then and um please if there's any possible way of having someone uh get them for us that would be wonderful I do remember the second thing it's not so bad being 82 it comes back but not when you want it um we also need someone who can be for the city not necessarily a full-time job but someone that we can go to and ask about what's going on with this tree uh I do that but I'm I'm really a pedestrian in terms of the amount of knowledge it takes to talk about a hazardous tree if we could have a Forester just put on reserve who can we we can call in and say this tree is in problem we we suggest that you look at it because when people are asking us to look at trees they have a variety of reasons why they wanted to go and not all trees have to go but they do have to be tended if we could have someone out there who we could rely on who could come into the City and say yeah that tree is definitely dying or that tree is dead or perhaps that tree shouldn't be here in the first place so those are the two things that I would ask the council to consider thank you thank you and as far as the Forester and uh you're probably right probably so if you can get us more information on that we can start looking into it yeah I can do that okay and then as far as the grant writer the city right now really doesn't have a grant writer either but we're looking to do a joint venture with the Board of Education where we'll split the cost and have one for both the Board of Education and the City because I think both entities aren't out there looking at all the grants and neither one has the full-time money to hire a full-time employee so we can split a consult and that's what we're looking to do actually I can get you a grant Rider who wouldn't cost you anything uh just a question of appointing her to the environmental shry commission send her send her send her to us she's absolutely Terri we love something that doesn't cost us anything because I I don't you're make me be a Debbie Downer take like we're we're in a little bit of a budget problem oursel so far this year looking at this Year's budget so uh if we can save a buck here or a buck there we'll definitely do it but I think we both the Board of Education and the city does need somebody you know to start looking at Grants because guarantee John we'll save more than a buck okay so no thank you Tom for both okay okay anybody else want to go to the microphone yes oh hi I'm Jan Moore and a relative newcomer to Asbury Park an import from Ocean Grove uh I am so excited to be here in this town where I see so much activity going on I see and it is so rewarding to see young people but then again I'm 88 so what's relative and the other thing is the amount of women involved all of us here it's wonderful to see and I feel so welcomed and I am still active in the community and hope I can keep that up because this was the right move and congratulations to everybody and thank you thank you and for those of you who don't know Jan MO is the movie star of Asberry Park because she is uh the star of a documentary and one of the many reasons that marriage equality exists in New Jersey anyone else we're GNA move to close move to close second all in favor I if that is all for today do I have a motion to adjourn the meeting yes
