foremost just congratulations to the new uh Board of aded members and the newly elected officials um so on here obviously you can see there's a resolution um instead of reading that obviously everybody can read that I just would like to touch upon um you know briefly what it means to be a board member um I think a lot of uh you know I think pretty much everybody if you're not on the board of education or have that experience I think it's very difficult to wrap your head around the amount of time and commitment that goes into this um there's a lot of hours it takes a lot of dedication a lot of sacrifice as far as time away from your family um a lot of time away from from work uh we have committees uh obviously you can tell from every agenda we have multiple committees that meet every month um and those committee meetings could last upwards of two three four hours um so it's it's it's a lot and it's an unpaid position so you know you have individuals that are up here and you have individuals that uh serve on board of educations um that are truly doing this from a selfless um uh State and are doing this uh to really continue to move the district forward and continue to do the right thing uh for the students and and staff here in barnegate so um you know I think it's extremely commendable um I think it's a very difficult thing um I think it's often very unpopular um as it turns out most of the time when you get uh people come to the board meetings they're not generally coming to praise the things that are going on they're usually coming to to discuss something that they're unhappy about um so I think it's generally a very unpopular thing to uh to do um it can oftentimes be thankless but it is such a vital role to the things that we do here um and I I can't uh express my appreciation for the uh the Board of Ed and um how they've supported our students in our district and uh and continue to do so so uh thank you to the board of ed members for uh for serving as a board of education member thank you Dr all right next on our agenda is president from marks information again I hope everyone had a great New Year's holiday season um all ready to go back to school we start again um want to thank board members for trusting me and putting me in this position tonight and line um greatly appreciate and we do our best to try to unite and bring things back together and get a functioning board that um is all on the same page do what's best for our district our students our staff um you know and our community obviously to uh try to unite this uh everybody on the same page to get the things done that we need to get done for our students um so that'll be goal number one um in our agenda as far as what we need to do um we know over the last year it has not been a pretty picture um and some of the meetings have gotten a little too heated so our main goal first goal is to really try to unite try to work together try to function as a unit not as a divided uh you know two divided entities um with that being said our next item on our agenda is the uh calendar meeting for the year for our board meetings I know there was already an issue brought up about the January 16th meeting I know we kind of had a little sidebar discussion on it uh yes I was wondering if we can all discuss that date and come to an agreement to change it um again obviously for us we have to make sure everybody's there we have a quum um and I know Mr fedori situation I don't know how long that turnaround is if it's quick so generally I think they say takes within seven business days so at this point we should be getting those results back any day so if we were to propose moving that dat to either Wednesday the 17th or Thursday the 18th any of those dates we would be well within uh the ability and we have committees set for next week that also should not impact uh Mr fedor's ability to participate okay um the uh again date is is anyone opposed to the 17th does anyone have a conflict that couldn't make it Wednesday Wednesday Wednesday the 17th I'm I'm good with the 17th um Mr fedori I so I can't hear I mean is the time maybe we Shi the time is it the 18 so my suggestion would be to uh make a motion to amend the committee and Boe uh meeting dates uh to reflect whatever date you would like and then once that's approved would be uh a separate motion to member and we brought up one time and it hasn't been worked on since since we had it all in set all set to have a Communications course with TV radio Dr McMahon was going to buy the $25,000 small remote FM nothing's been done how do we get kids into new house how do we get kids into uh any communication School in this country without having courses in the high school that are going to help them get into the school and I don't mean just taken pictures and things like that where and why hasn't it been done and most Schoolboard members here maybe not have lived here that long some have but no action's been taking place and one of the superintendents um I remember there was a room at the high school here that was put aside for a TV room and a Communications room and it went empty the school board has short changed the kids Communications is where we're at today whether it be into technology whether it be in into the TV any of the communic communications that we have that are necessary for them to get into these schools you must create the courses you have the money stop wasting money on stupid things and put it into the courses now we need to know tonight if it's going to be done because if it's not we're going to have to put board members that are going to do the right thing and I'm really arrogant about this this has been going on for the last 10 or 12 years couple years ago we were told that something was going to happen with the the C we had a cable station here that was given to us channel 22 our side nobody took advantage of it what are you going to do about it more courses help more kids and children get into college it's not just going to Community College they have a Communications course up with OC they have one in Stockton they also have one new house uh anenberg how do think kids going to get into these schools you don't part you don't give them anything but you go up into Middletown and you'll see they have a Communications course even I think Tom's River has one when are we going to take advantage of what we can offer the children it has to start here and it has to start tonight so I'm demanding a resolution to put this forward without any reservation at all and create that course so these children come into this school in September and those who want to take that course can take the pre- necessary requisites to get into the course over the summer so they can get into the course and this is not a joke I mean you're all using Communications here and nobody's doing anything about it all you're worried about is going to this thing and to go to that thing arguing with one another got to stop you had a superintendent get harassed for what reason I don't know and I don't care but when you have someone resigned as the president of the board you have a problem the problems with the board and the other problem is with the people that put you here because they have no clue what you've done but they're going to start to know what's got to be done and what I shouldn't say God what should be done and will be done this is this is not a a socialized situation here either spend the money the right way instead of worrying about a penny here and a penny there and getting harassed for raising the taxes the same amount that you did they did across the way on the township you raise a nickel they raise a nickel they holl or you holl spend the money on the children's course get the communications course to go and get it started there's no ifs buts or ends got to do it pass the resolution tonight to get it rolling and by the way those blue masks they don't work you need an m95 in the meantime are you going to do it or you're not going to do it are you going to pass the course are you gon to put this money into motion tonight or no because if you're not by the time the next election comes I'm going to guarantee you we're going to change the board and that's all I have to say Thank you Mr cheze um Dr L was responded on that so yeah I would love to jump in there so um could not agree more with you uh as far as uh that's concerned we actually do have a number of courses uh that we utilize for that so we have uh something called The barned Buzz um where the students do uh uh journalism things of that nature they uh learn editing the film um we do put some stuff on Comcast uh we were worked with the township I want to say um Ali was really intrical with it uh for over the course of a year to get back on play time up there and and we were uh publishing stuff uh I think we haven't published as much stuff over the last few months because uh the individual that was uh taking lead on that course was out um and so there was some some a little bit of a lapse there uh but we do uh we do a lot of stuff with online um we do a lot of stuff with uh modern media a lot of the things that you would talk about as far as going to that type of a program that they would look for um you're 100% right we are continuing to move in that direction some of the rooms that you actually see here were rooms that we were looking at for that that room back there was uh a green room all last year uh or think yeah I think it's called The Green Room um all last year the TV studio that you're referring to is set up they they do utilize that um for for video editing things of that nature um like I said we do our our announcements we do all our stuff like that using the barnegate buzz um so the uh uh as far as having a traditional um like news anchor type setup uh each morning uh they don't do it uh daily but they do do it weekly um so we do have courses that are that are in line with that um you know so we do continue to strive to put more content on channel 22 which we do have air time on so I obviously not to to continue with this uh so that is something that obviously like we have a lot of those things in place um so I would love to continue the conversation with you if you want to stick around after maybe I get your contact information I can set up something with uh you myself Jim and and we can go kind of where we are right now and some of the things that we're still striving read all the local Publications in the last calendar year 89% of the press release had to do with extracurricular activities I didn't see anything about a science fair language arts competition mathematics competition or anything that's rooted keyword coming up solely in Academia that is what this is about for when graduation day comes the people who are the pupils here the future of this country are going to need to go out whether it's higher education White Collar blue collar and they're going to have to go out and take what they learned here and make a living and raise families and prepare this world for what's warming up in the Bull Pack finances tragically we had a former governor on his way out the door gave cart blanch with a 2.2% uh ability of every school district to raise the budget without going to referendum and that is absurd I think he thought of it while he was hatching Bridgegate but we won't go there what I'm saying to you is you have a mission you have a mission last thing I'm going to touch on I am not in favor of the redistricting why because I'm sensitive to what it's done and continues to do to the environment I'm sensitive to what it did to increase Transportation costs since that is my profession I am sensitive to what it's doing to the infrastructure in this town it's a bell that needs to be unrung contrary to what confucious opine centuries ago that can be done by people of Goodwill people of foresight and people who understand that the focus here is on teaching young people motivating young people to learn it goes beyond the stadium it goes beyond the beastro it goes on to what these children have when way they walk down the aisle and you proudly present them with a diploma again best of luck I know you will do well thank
