August the 3 myself and Carol Marcus attended a meeting in which the topic was proposed Mir track re Redevelopment plan and its impact on the B Services which include education that was our purpose for us to go so that completes my report moving on to superintendent sure my superintendent report is also going to be extremely brief this month I know I talked in committee I was origin going to talk about I ready data tonight I'm going to include that as part of my standardized testing presentation um with njsla scores which are looking very positive this year um overall I'm just reporting schools you're ready to open Sumer went very fast um but student schedules get released next week again ready to go thank you hey this time I'd like to get a motion to open uh the first public comment Greco second by Miss Marcus all in favor I okay so now uh public comment now is closed moving on to reports can we move on to Mr oler's person all Wilson August 6 I'm sorry uh first the superintendent apprised the committee about the resignations of certain staff members and the efforts to fill the vacancies that have been created as a result second the committee reviewed comprehensive revisions to 11 Poli polies eight regulations and two bylaws of the board the committee approved the superintendent's recommendation for the first reading of nine policies six regulations and two bylaws which are on this evening's agenda the balance has been referred to eal council for photo review thank you all right um moving on to curriculum instruction technology Miss bcer uh the curriculum uh committee met on August 6th um first we had a presentation from Dr nikasia alligning the new electives that are being offered at waler Bergen this year the full list is later on in the agenda um after that he presented us with a quick look at the I ready score and summary page that he's prepared he is going to release that uh along with the um njsla scores later on um you know at the beginning of the school year and um and it said the score the I ready scores show um you know pretty steady progress from the beginning of the year to the end and the njsla scores are back to preco numbers so and um just last month there was no meeting so there are no minutes for thank you moving on to uh Finance facilities M CCO met on August 5th at 4:30 in the afternoon the following items were updated and discussed um first the Marth day HVAC the fire and electrical inspections were scheduled for August 6th plumbing inspection is pending waiting on um a date from the uh Enforcement office here in town the mult Marb day multi-purpose room HVAC the old unit has been removed and additional electric work needs to be done to prepare the roof for the new unit to be installed we want to thank the Bloomingdale DPW for their help and work in the demo of the old playground equipment up at morb day the new equipment is going in this week the um twt Paving Company here in Bloomingdale we want to thank them they filled the sinkhole um up at the SRD and they also did some um po holes uh filled them in for us up at SRD as well the annual audit is in full swing and the work was to be completed by the end of last week um just want to give um a shout out to our custodial crew and the summer help because they've been working very um tirelessly this entire summer preparing our buildings for opening day so we want to acknowledge them and thank them for their work and also thank Felicia because she has taken on added responsibilities and duties with the absence of Ralph overseeing projects thank you Felicia and to Mike as well n see has helped as well and that's the end of my report thank you moving on to public relations and strategic planning M Hussein we had a shorter meeting we met move motions 91 and 92 second one point of clarity in case any's wondering if you look at the long chart of add a district approvals there's two under buron County Special Services that are listed under steam student ID number that is correct we list it that way because they send us two separate contracts for the same student one for the tuition Services the other for the at County Fe so we approve it in that manner okay any questions go ahead same cont yes's esy the one's esy yes one they sent they s the contract for esy and a contract for so we um because we don't have the DraStic need to hire an IND District Physical Therapist we contract with Northern Region Ed services for a physical therapist much we have for the last 20 something not to it's tied to a large group of students we don't list their iders any other [Music] questions 9.2 that it's just so exciting to see uh these curricular um this the curriculum that this new curriculum that's going to be implemented um in this upcoming school year from things like choir cooking um Sports journalism stem clay building it's I think these this is all so enriching I'm so happy to see and mean know I've heard feedback from parents that they'd love to see some kind of kind of extracurricular programs for students and um I just think this is wonderful so I just wanted to say how excited I am to see this agree that but I'd like to add it's just not extracurricular it has it's tied to student standards and it's all like has all the backup of a regular course right these are full-fledged curriculums tied to state standards and I have to really push all the credit for these to the teachers every one of these was authored by one of our teaching staff we reviewed them as the administration obviously but every one of these was from day one designed and then authored by our teaching staff it's really amazing to see the this the initiative and the care for the students to to you know see that through not that went into it thanks for the correction be the only one I think it's very um the groundbreaking but now I took a call from South Jersey actually about some of these and how we were working it with our um demographic of student number of students so um a South diry District found it through just Google search but they were curious about it's not a common no there's no further questions or comments the bills list I saw that we were making a final payment for the U Capital that we started and years ago B service but yet we won't get that money from the town till July and SP out July and January so it's kind of like we pay it out then we get paid back right okay so the taxpayer won't see the impact till the final impact till next January probably Jan yeah January okay all right just because it's one of the things I'm trying to come to grips with is our our calendars don't always match know District calendar so that's sometimes that was the confusion between that um the overage underage you know the tax issue we on two different calendars we're on an academic calendar they're on they're on a regular calendar so ours goes from July to you June theirs is from you know January to December okay so even though we're making the final payment now the taxpayer won't see the impact the file impact sh yeah okay thank you for that Clarity right any other further questions or comments wanted to share was the distri looking policy for the day other districts wi where stud as well as would not be allowed to have their cell phones out and used during the instructional um and what they talking about is um not so much coming up with the policy but using their code and conduct that they currently have and they really want to try to discourage kids and staff from using their phones because parent come there are some classes that do however I math classes exp us thats to I guess Rel should hear more about it the next meeting but that's the only instruction is still Ono over there very and they are a little behind from where I think they thought they were going to be but considered it looks so really very [Music] impressive and we have not had Butler Ed Foundation meeting get I found out came it's thank you I'm gonna pass Dr Allan mayor and Council any update um I'll just use a segue into like not really the mayor and Council the bar Administration um as the finance committee has been discussing we are looking at a shared service agreement um for to replace Mr baris's position obviously Ralph is leaving the district so possibly working on with the B Administration a shared service with the DPW to possibly benefit everybody um both the taxpayer and the the taxpayer in general for the and the burrow and the Board of Education thank you New Jersey school boards wison um the an upcoming njfc webinar is um actually tomorrow uh from 1 to 2m securing our schools how effectively Implement cyber Security Solutions um again the workshop conference is Monday October 21st through October 24th at the Atlantic City prevention center and njfca announces student performance selections for workshops 2024 which include um Egg Harbor Township play school jazz combo Pitman Junior Senior High School local duet Egg Harbor Township and GE gr line Gallow Middle School 17 um Patterson Public School 24 band High Tech High School performance division dance Ensemble Mount Olive High School Rock and Roll Academy pctvs St Ensemble and woodtown high school canas um and the njsa just recently hired a legisl Advocate Harrison govern thank you moving on to M school boards C County School Board hasn't had a meeting uh yet this and you know we're going on the new school year but their next meeting will be held on Wednesday September 25th at 6m it'll be a hybrid meeting the topic will cover effectively planning and financing referendum to maximize impact on tax levy the location for those attending in person will be Mario's restaurant in Pizzeria and Clifton and they also released the rest of the meetings for the year as well so that concludes my report thank plan uh there's not there's nothing to report about the planning meeting agenda we've all set our piece at the planning board the next important uh meeting to note is Tuesday August 20th at 7 o'clock is the burrow council meeting where the ordinance allowing the whole miror track development who c will be um discussed and I presume approved thank you so important to be here yes I agree um PTA you say the PTA had um they had their uh book book club family movie night along with our school district which is held the evening of Wednesday July 31st there was kind of warnings inclement weather as you know the weather's been back and forth and so uh the district you know did they actually moved it indoors so the nice like inflatable um projector I guess like projector standard projector was indoors and it was nice you know there was snacks P PTA provided snacks uh they had one session kind of an earlier session that was shorter for the pre students I was able to take my youngest son along and then I guess for the older Elementary School students there was a kind of a second um session in the longer movie I think Horton here's the who is here who that's the that's that was the second movie um yes it was it was a good time and just you know kudos to everybody who organized that and quick thinking to move it indoors then the next movie night in the last one for the summer will be on uh August 20th and the PTA also recently announced the 2024 2025 committee chairs and co-chairs and congratulations to the chairs and committees this year and thank you moving on to Recreation um there hasn't been a meeting since um since June but um you can get updates and stuff on their Facebook page which are some things that are that they've announced recently um the Autumn Awakenings Women's Wellness event is Saturday October 19 from a um 800 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and cost $9 there's a Broadway bu trip to se H Kitchen on November 1st and the cost is $9 ticket and transportation and the Bloomdale Butler ELD hockey practice starts August 27th uh Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 and then games will be Saturdays September and October and then next meeing in September thank you uh likewise seniors have not met and did you report when we do meet in September going on to O business new business so um two things actually I want [Music] to I'm not media but Maran had passed away July 31st I only found out about it [Music] Friday very but I just you know those of us who remember Maran she's a wonderful board member always looking out what the best interest of our students was and she served I just you know want toled remember service who had been our inter principal and Inter Not only was he a wonderful a friend to all like our parents superintendent accessible parents students he had great respect for the teachers because he began Hiser as a teer so I believe here Mr Corell here even when you sered superintendent in Butler the collaborative work that was done between our districts um was wonderful at the time had shared librarian thought had a shared counselor spot and which wonderful when we were trying to De on what teacher valuation is going to be used both districts came together but we're ining to talk and figure out what would be best for our teachers so Mario always did what was best for students and [Music] never sure if you're proposing to read it read it in you know I very L just a wonderful wonderful man a great leader a great M extremely ly I just want to say of Bloomingdale hereby expressed deepest condolences on the passing of Mario D cardinell and extends its heartfelt sympathies to his family friends and colleagues during this time of profound loss and that the Board of Education memorialized through the resolution his exceptional contributions to education and acknowledges his enduring Legacy of leadership mentorship and dedication to the field of education and I just want I want to just add because I was served with both of those people and the entire time that I was on the board they were here and Mario besides being here I at that point was going to curriculum meetings when he was in Butler as a representative culum committee I don't know that that gets done anymore but so I he was like oh you're here today you're here now you're art um and Maryanne she was a true voice of the community as well and she was feisty was the word you used I mean she would tell people in the audience I knew you when you were a little boy now don't act like that I mean she was terrific and um Mario was everything you said he was we had a strategic planning meeting under his Eis um so they will both be
