provisions of the open meeting law including the updated Provisions enacted by the legislature last year the new law allows the board to continue its practice of holding virtual hearings until March 2025 this hearing of the board is being held remotely via the zoom webinar event platform this hearing is also being recorded in order to ensure this hearing of the board is open to the public members of the public May access this hearing through telephone and video conferencing the information for connecting to this hearing is listed on today's hearing agenda which is posted on the Public Notices page of the city's website boston.gov members of the public will enter the virtual hearing as attendees which means you will not see yourself on the screen and you will be muted un throughout unless administratively unmuted when asked to comment board members applicants and their attorneys or Representatives will participate in the hearing as panelists and they will appear alongside the presentation materials when speaking panelists are strongly encouraged to keep the video on while presenting to the board as with our in-person meetings comments and support will be followed by comments and opposition the order of comments is as follows elected officials representatives of elected officials and members of the public the chair May limit the number of people called upon to offer test offer a comment and the time for commenting as time constraints require for that reason the board prefers to hear from members of the public who are most impacted by a project that is those individuals who live closest to the project if you wish to comment on an appeal please click the raise hand button along the bottom of your screen in the zoom webinar platform click it again and your salom Street in Dorchester and I'm pleased to present this project um if we could start sure thank you with the pro proposed plot plan um the owners um were just seeking to do a very modest addition to the rear of the house um um uh to uh provide for a uh a mudro laundry and um half bath and large kitchen on the first floor and um an owner Suite on the second floor with an office Al Cove uh next um slide please um here's an image these are images of the um thank you these are images of the back of the house it's got a very deep yard um as you can see in our site plan below which is kind of a Google Google Maps overlay um the street is consists of a very similar house type uh on both sides a number of people have done additions as well um and next slide please this is just an existing and proposed plan of the basement uh next slide please and then on the left is the existing first floor and on the right is our proposed first floor and again on the uh the left is our prop existing second floor and then our proposed second floor the the um violations that we've incurred um are sidey guard violation because we wanted the the owners wanted the addition to align with the um existing face of a uh outside face of the house so we incurred a side yard violation there we've also incurred um an F violation as were 0.06 over the um the allotted 0.5 uh for 2 out 5000 we were incorrectly cited for a rear yard violation uh which we um tried repeatedly to um get an updated refusal from um ISD but we weren't able to uh get that um and then here we have on our lower left I'm sorry on the top of the the screen are the existing elevations on the bottom are the proposed so on the bottom left is our proposed rear elevation um where we have sort of uh some larger fenestration on the back uh looking into the rear yard so the owners can can watch their kids uh we have a nice canopy over the entrance um to the mudro and on the right um is our side elevation the owners are going to uh remove the vinyl siding in this renovation um and clad the house with uh fiber cement lap siding um and trim it out with you know a water table and corner boards and then finally here's proposal was viewed with the Pope's Hill civic association which convened on 10232 24 the associ association has expressed support for the proposal at this time the mayor's office and Neighborhood suffered a fire and uh though no one was harmed um it left us displaced so I took this as an opportunity to take the existing property from a one family into a two family sir you're coming in and out I don't know if you're you're coming in and out we cannot hear you clearly instruction but we're at a fault right now due to [Music] um am I the only one who can't hear him clearly no no you're not for us to take it from an existing one family into a two family uh so the whole purpose is to get uh the family back into um living under one space and have enough space where I can rent to my aunt uh and uh have everybody uh within uh the same roof so that we could better take care of our our our mother who's suffering from dementia so that's the whole motivation behind uh changing the property from one to two uh as you can see with the first page it just kind of shows the um well should say the second page a001 just gives the different um the that uh this meeting is in relation to uh the L area being insufficient insufficient the floor ratio excessive open space insufficient and side show the existing versus what the uh City requirements are um and I'm off a little bit uh uh on each category uh lot size is 5,000 square feet I'm at 4,840 um the additional lot area is um additional area maybe I'll pause you and ask if uh if members have any questions yeah um yeah yes understandable yeah your the zoning variance that you're requesting is on the on this sheet which we' I've reviewed and um okay I don't have any I don't have any further questions the good thing is that you're in a zoning subdistrict that is 2f 5000 correct I don't see uh a large request um so this is again a very modest request as well thank you uh may I open it up to public testimony good evening Madam chair member of the board uh regarding 58 cedis AB our office will defer to the board's judgment on this matter a community process was conducted including in a Butters meeting on 81524 and we have also received a one letter of support claiming that the proposal was a good fit for the neighborhood additionally the proposal was was reviewed in the West Village neighborhood association which voted to support the proposal and did also provide a letter of support for the proposal at this time the mayor's office and Neighborhood Services differs to the board's decision thank you for your time and get kind of details about the square footage that would be increased and it would be helpful for him to explain what the current is and what will the change will be in terms of Lighty increase square
