THE VETERANS BUILD LAST FRIDAY WAS ALSO A VERY GOOD EVENT, GREAT TURNOUT. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO HAVE THE LUNCHEON HERE, THE ARTS AND CULTURAL CENTER. THIS IS A PERSONAL SITUATION FOR ME BECAUSE I DID PUT ARTIFICIAL GRASS IN AND I WAS NOT AWARE OF A CODE THAT DID NOT -- THAT WENT AGAINST IT AND I'M HIT WITH A PRETTY HEFTY SITUATION HERE WHERE I'M TOLD I HAVE TO REMOVE MY ARTIFICIAL GRASS AND PUT BACK SOD. THIS SEEMS A BIT OFF TO ME. I'M TRYING TO BETTER THE COMMUNITY. THAT'S A BIG ONE WITH CURB APPEAL. ONE OF THEM BEING PEOPLE DON'T HAVE TO KEEP THEY'RE LAWNS UNIFORM WITH THE NEXTDOOR NEIGHBOR. THAT BEING SAID, WE HAVE A LOT OF COMMUNITY -- A LOT OF HOMES IN THE COMMUNITY THAT ARE RUNDOWN, A LITTLE MESSY, AND I KNOW THAT THE CITY IS WORKING HARD TO CORRECT THAT, BUT THAT IS GOING TO TAKE A VERY LONG TIME. THERE'S THOUSANDS OF HOMES OVER HERE. THE ARTIFICIAL GRASS THAT I PUT IN, THEY'RE SAYING THAT YOU CAN'T HAVE ANYTHING THAT'S ANY ZEROSCAPE, WHICH IS ANY AREA THAT DOES NOT NEED MAINTENANCE. CAN'T HAVE MORE THAN A HUNDRED SQUARE FEET OF THAT. TO ME, AGAIN, THIS IS JUST CRAZY. I HAVE ARTIFICIAL GRASS THAT I DON'T HAVE TO WATER AT ALL. I SPENT TONS OF MONEY AND ALSO WE'RE IN FLORIDA. IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP SOD ALIVE, KEEPING YOUR FRONT YARD LOOKING NICE. MY LANDSCAPER LIVES TWO HOUSES BEHIND ME AND HIS GRASS IS DEAD. THAT'S JUST -- TO ME, THAT'S A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF IF HE CAN'T DO IT, MOST PEOPLE CAN'T DO THAT. I'M ASKING THAT THE COMMISSIONERS THINK ABOUT CHANGING THIS CODE. IT'S A CODE FROM 1996. THERE'S BEEN A TON OF TECHNOLOGY IN TIRE, IN ARTIFICIAL GRASS, ONE OF THEM BEING THE DRAINAGE. MY GRASS DRAINS INCHES OF WATER PER HOUR. IN MY OPINION, IF WE HAVE MORE THAN 70 INCHES OF WATER AN HOUR, WE'VE GOT A LOT BIGGER ISSUES THAN MY ARTIFICIAL GRASSMENT I'M JUST ASKING THAT WE RECONSIDER IT. THERE'S A LOT OF BENEFITS TO IT. IT LOOKS CLEAN. I PUT AN EXAMPLE OF MY HOUSE WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE SWELL THAT GOES OWNED BY THE CITY, WHICH I'M STILL -- HAVE TO MAINTAIN MYSELF. THEY ARE CURRENTLY APPROVED IN PLANNING. THEY HAVE SUBMITTED OR IN REVIEW FOR BOTH PLAT AND LAND DEVELOPMENT PERMITS BUT THEY HAVE NOT SUBMITTED FOR VERTICAL CONSTRUCTION YET. WORKFORCE. SO THIS PROJECT IS UNIQUE IN THIS DEX RIGHT HERE BECAUSE THIS IS ONE OF THE PROJECTS, THE FIRST APPROVED PROJECT WITHIN THE COUNTY THAT IS A LIVE LOCAL PROJECT. THIS WAS APPROVED ON FEDERAL ON TWO VERY LARGE PIECES OF VACANT PROPERTY. IT IS A WORKFORCE HOUSING PRODUCT. THE SOUTH PORTION CONTAINS 298 DWELLING UNITS THAT IS MULTIFAMILY APARTMENTS, AND THEN THE NORTH END INCLUDES 38 DOWNHOMES. WE ARE GETTING OVER THE REQUIRED 40% OF THESE UNITS AS AFFORDABLE HOUSING. I'D ALSO LIKE TO MENTION THAT THE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENTS DEPARTMENT DID CREATE A WEB SITE THAT HAS THIS PROJECT LISTED AND ANY OTHER APPROVED LIVE LOCAL PROJECTS WILL BE POPULATED ON THAT WEB SITE. SO THEY ARE CURRENTLY APPROVED WITHIN PLANNING AND THEY HAVE ACTIVE APPLICATIONS FOR PLATS, LAND DEVELOPMENT PERMITS, AND VERTICAL CONSTRUCTION. THE PULTE COTTAGE DISTRICT YOU WILL RECOGNIZE THIS FROM THE CIA. IT IS A CRA PROJECT, IT IS APPROVED WITHIN PLANNING AND THEY HAVE ACTIVE PLATS FOR PLATS, LAND DEVELOPMENT PERMITS PLANNING. OCEAN 1, THIS ONE IS CENTRAL TO THE DOWNTOWN. THEY ALSO HAVE PICKED UP A LOT OF SPEED LATELY. THEY ARE APPROVED WITHIN PLANNING AND THEY HAVE ACTIVE APPLICATIONS FOR ALL THREE. PLAT, LDP, AND PERMIT. AND THIS IS 371 MULTIFAMILY UNITS. SHALIMAR. SO THIS IS ONE OF THE BIGGER INVESTMENTS THAT IS NOT WITHIN THE CRA. THIS IS ON THE WESTERN SIDE OF THE CITY. THIS INCLUDES 250 RESIDENTIAL UNITS AND ABOUT 4300 SQUARE FOOT OF COMMERCIAL SPACE. THEY ARE FULLY APPROVED WITHIN PLANNING. THIS PROJECT DID NOT HAVE TO DO A PLAT AND THEY HAVE ACTIVE SUBMIT LDZ FOR BOTH THEIR -- SUBMITTALS FOR BOTH THEIR LDP AND VERTICAL CONSTRUCTION. OKAY, THE VILLAGES AT EAST OCEAN. ON THE NORTH SIDE.
