Dian brosio is uh representative manisan I don't believe they had a meeting where he was present which brings us to curriculum and programs Mrs Walsh yeah we had a brief meeting yesterday on the 21st 345k met um with the administration Mrs P Mrs Pearson and Mrs baldino representative from the board of myself handful of items discussed the first one was the administration reported a very successful halfday inservice on Friday January 17 U where they were able to each grade level group worked in professional learning communities to really dissect the middle of the Year Benchmark data the staff was led by the administration in exercises to analyze patterns and Trends in the data then they worked to formulate and design plans to Target the students needs based on this updated benchmarks uh the second topic was um an update on their math program selection the committee has been working hard they're looking at about three to four updated math programs and their resources and reviewing samples the next um step is booking the company Representatives that they're interested in to come in and present to the committee and they'll review all the resources and whatever they provide at those uh presentations um this was exciting for the staff here the Brio Elementary School welcomes a group of Red Bank educators to collaborate with them over their roll out and implementation of the Whit wisdom literacy program the BS teachers teachers were really excited to share how they transitioned into this new curriculum and they engaged in a lot of professional dialogue about the program strengths and of course like most programs there are things in areas where they can further Target um different needs especially based on the new Ela standards that have been updated since the adoption of that program um Mrs petti has been working with the administration and hosting grade level meetings this week to review of course what's expected at each grade level and behavior um attendance goal setting for the second half of the school year so that's I've been hearing about that at home um been exciting uh the administration also gave us an update on the new website and the progress that they've been making with that they're including these three spots on the homepage one will have the update at of fingertips another one will have the Blazer bulletin and the third will have like presentations that are recent and what's happening um and that brings us the last big thing is that we had a very successful veg presentation on the evening of January 14th the administration alongside Tower Healey um the district occupational therapist discussed the district's NSS which has been multi Sy support program for real that targets and addresses students with academic social emotional or behavioral challenges um the school uses a systematic approach to address the needs of the individual student they develop targeted plans with the team um and they support all these supports are put in place to help our students grow and develop and make progress towards their personal goals um this was a great opportunity for parents and Guardians to learn about the interventions that are available and all the supports that are here uh bees for other students the last thing we discussed in Old business was the preschool open house that just recently took place um and they're looking forward to rolling out those registrations for both prek and K in upcoming weeks so thank you to the administration for all your hard work in moving these initiatives forward does anybody have any questions [Music] question my wife attended she was really happy with it yeah and the website's noticeable yeah still has some little strange things that were we're working on figuring out but you know it's nice to kind of take our time and build it when we recognize me so the um idea about presentations actually came from some of the feedback we received so we took that feedback and said you know what let's find a spot for that so it's kind of nice that we're building it piece by piece trying to really clean it up um and I do want to thank um you know both uh Mr Greenfield and Mrs Kennedy for their help with that um because they've really been instrumental in helping us move that forward noticeable uh I am HR and I did not have a meeting this month but we next month which brings us to Mr Walman and policy Mr Beer yes we did have a policy meeting on January 15 at 4M intendance Dro Walsh myself boardra from the administration um the meeting focused on a recently released alert 234 from stra smme which really contained two separate areas of updated policies uh the first deals entire entirely with policies updated to changes and statutes for the uniform State memorandum of agreement between education and law enforcement officials second for General policy updates that are not related to that tonight we will be putting forward 10 policies and regulations for first reading from the alert while reserving three policies and one regulation for future meetings and the additional work that is required be as brief as possible the first group group a policy 5512 which concerns harassment ination or bulling HIV has been revised to incorporate information regarding coordination of HIV investigations specifically the policy now includes loation requirements and procedures for when a school district must pause an HIV investigation to allow law enforcement to complete their investigation policy and regulation 5533 regarding smoking has been revised now require School District to report the use for seizure invol electronic smoking device to law enfor and school officials have a reasonable susp that the device contains control dangerous substance or can can is no longer control substance in the state New Jersey so they are separate policy 9320 uh addressing the cooperation with law enforcement agencies has been revised to address the handled of Care Program which requires law enforcement to notify the school district when a student has witnessed a traumatic event outside of the school the superintendent is our point of cont regulation guide 9320 has also been revised to include or other drugs in addition to marijuana canid because again marijuana dangerous substance but still requires law enforcement notification when a student influence Sor suspected to be um and and and basically that's just they're saying that even though it's not substance still legal for a minor title so so this need to Bei okay uh outside of theou in the second group of Group B policy 5111 concerning the eligibility of Resident non-resident students has been revised to align with the latest statute 18 383 and clarifications from the state station regarding tuition for non-resident students in this revision was primarily concerned about the enrollment School staff members and it went detail about teachers versus staff for those who live outside of the district however BS does not offer this option to school staff members we're just updating the policy to be consistent with the new statute policy and regulation 5516 concerning the use of electronic communication devices has been revised to address the students personal use devices including cell phones during the school day and to incorporate new Provisions regarding limiting or prohibiting their use uh M Administration that this is not a tremendous problem currently in this school however this policy now includes a broader definition of what electronic communication devices which include cell phones smart watches tablets earbuds wireless headphones and other devices uh the revised policy addresses the prohibition or limitation of the use of electronic communications during the school day the revised regulation aligns with our overall condex and our discipline po policy it permits use of these devices only when per by staff for education purposes and before and after school and also outlines a progressive discipline system for offenses policy gu 2710 regarding student grievances has been revised to provide more details regarding student grievance process and adds more structure and detail of the student griev process including documentation escalations and timelines policy 8500 concerning Food Services has been refed to reflect changes to New Jersey working-class families anti-hunger act federal regulations and federal guidance documents related to the eligibility of School meals uh BDS does not currently meet the threshold uh required to offer the national school lunch program however we do cover lunches for students in our district uh that would qualify for that and this helps us cify exactly what the services are that we offer so ping further action um policy 2365 concerns the acceptable use of generative AI or artificial intelligence as I mentioned November we've been evaluating this new policy for several months um Mr Greenfield recently had ATT specific training sessions on J and he's now conducting surveys with the staff to understand which gen tools they may be using Mr Greenfield will also be selecting workshops at texo to help inform District positioning on this policy and he's also reached out to some at Google provides our hly collaboration and email platform to the district to discuss access to Chai Mrs fer continues to coordinate with Nan to see how their policy is progressing so that we remain align with our fellow sing districts asly as desirable uh policy 571 concerning academic Integrity uh we need to review this and be the section for the possible AI use policy uh basically you know when it's okay to use AI our AI policy will imp1 our code of conduct uh which is also 5600 which is discipline uh we can do this move that reality policy forward and finally policy and regulation 7441 concerning electronic surveillance in the school buildings and on school grounds uh this is related to theou and it deals with the capability of remote viewing of our school's cameras by law enforcement only in event of an emergency and that is still being reviewed in conjunction with our annual work thank you Mr Walman very thorough as always we got some classic policies on here from smoking cigarettes all the way up to uh electronic devices Ai and AI yeah it ain't easy uh man uh all right that brings us to community relations Mrs re please all right so some updates from some of our Community Partners um are bef has a a lot cooking right now um they are excited that a good time the sweetheart dance is scheduled for February 28th for our uh young ladies at school and the Blazer boys event is scheduled for March 28th so it's easy to remember those dates and that's for our young men in school um to enjoy with a guest of their choice um the eighth grade gertude Hawk fundraiser should be coming up soon soon so keep your eyes out for that and the PTO currently has 13 enrichment courses running and it's really nice to see the kids skipping and running out uh at 4 o'clock um when those are over so it's even though it's really cold lot of lot of great things going on and people are willing to come out for them so that's good all right thank you very much no problem questions any all right that brings us at 716 to administrative report so much was covered um through committees so you see our our teachers are hard at work uh halfway through the year it's always a good time to kind of take stock of where we are and you know we've taken advantage of that by using our Vine your benchmarks and the the half PD day on Friday as Mrs wall shared um and also to reset our students a little bit so we did do um grade level meetings actually I think we finish up tomorrow with grades 5 through eight just kind of touch base go over some reminders um you know let them also think about where they started and where they are now where they want to get to um and even though it is winter and it's cold there's a lot going on here still between you know winter enrichmond and Sports basketball is finishing up pretty soon and that's been great to to see going on um so still a lot you know happening even though it's you know kind of a the do Drums of winter um I also just looking ahead a little bit we are going to open kindergarten registration after February break that will all be online as it was last year so we're working on making sure that is all prepared and ready to go um and then when we come back from February break as well uh we will also be uh doing some special events events the week we return is a random acts of kindness week so similar to like the week of respect we will be planning events for each of those days we have um an assembly plan for upper grade students from the tiger stolo Foundation that does a lot of work across mou County um so that is also that will be coming up Upon Our uh return so I think everybody else kind of Hit the highlights of what's happening so that's my report thank you mrra any questions any concerns all right that brings us to Hib reports which were on the attachment uh any questions concerns
