Stewart Shirley okay so we'll go back to Shirley in a second as well um first I want to take a look at the minutes from last month and see if anyone has anything they want to change or if we can get a motion to approve I know there was a lot that happened last month so you're going to go earlier than expected yeah whenever you want anybody have anything motion to approve okay so Bob and then John okay so we're gonna go to instead of starting with sea next we're going to move to Dr Mike as sea will be joining a short shortly so we will come back to that Lou can you grant me um hosting or just let me share just you and okay good evening everyone uh hope you are all doing well um going to talk to you about a few things uh tonight just one updates and some reminders I want to talk to you a little bit about project soapbox things that have been going on across the district um in in context of civics for all I want to talk to you a little bit about Wellness day we mentioned this during the last CC meeting I want to have a little bit more of a conversation if we could uh about that and then I want to share a little bit around winter diagnostic assessment window which is opening up um which opened up last week and we'll go on through the first week of February um so first and for foremost happy holidays uh from our district 25 team when happy New Year um this is all Lewis and you know we can play a little bit of a game if you guys can identify who is who uh from this AI generated um card that we created of um of ourselves as a district anyone find me I'm just wondering yes frender and I think you know this card is just a um a space of future consideration for what um AI is going to look like uh in general in our schools and how we make really purposeful use of it for our kids um because yes it it can create that space of being a little bit scary um but at the same time it's what our children are going to be exposed to every single day of um of their educational career uh moving forward from where we are now and I you know as much as it has advanced just in the past couple of years I can only imagine how much more it's going to advance two years from now four years from now and so on um so needless to say this is all AI generated but at the same time wanted to wish everyone a very very uh Happy New Year um and wishing all of you guys all the best for um you know very very healthy and prosperous 2025 um so just a couple of couple of things just for you guys to know we do have a special education uh session that is up next um next Tuesday January 14th uh it's around understanding disability classification something that's really important for uh for our families that uh have children with IEPs but also families that um may need a little bit more information about that uh out of concerns for their own child that may need um may need an IEP moving forward so that is next week it's going to be led by Nathan uh these are all usually pretty well attended so I encourage anyone that is interested to please attend uh we will be holding a uh virtual uh workshop for aadience that is our assessment that we use for Diagnostic screening um throughout the year and our next one will be held um in um in February uh right around the tail end of our um assessment window so um please be part of that those that that were part of the first session this is a little bit different because um the assessment changes mid year for our kindergarteners first and second graders it is a little bit different from where it was at in uh September so I encourage our families to participate and we'll be holding another I ready workshop for any families that need to get a little bit more knowledge around their child's progress uh using the I ready platform and that will be Thursday February 13th so I encourage all those that are interested to please attend uh we do record these sessions so that they're accessible to the community um math family night uh this is going to be held next week on Thursday January 16th at ps129 um one of the uh vendors for math curriculum will be present um illustrative mathematics is going to be sponsoring they'll be providing snacks and pizza and all kinds of different uh math activities and games will be available that is through the work of Beth from our team uh she's doing a tremendous job um organizing and we're looking forward to this so this is for anyone in our district to participate um each of the math family nights that we've engag in over the years um has been pretty well attended and what what I like about it most is that kids are actually engaging in math work with their parents um so I encourage anyone that's interested to please join us um looking forward to that next week um upcoming event Queens Public Library is hosting the Lunar New Year uh celebration with a live puppet show um so that is accessible on Thursday January 9th at 4:00 um on uh Main Street in main uh 4117 Main Street Flushing so the circular is there for any of uh our folks that are interested in participating in that as well so these are just our enrollment dates we've kind of gone over these a number of times just the admission window for high schools has closed uh offers will be released on March 6th go through this pretty quickly same for Middle School uh Middle School application windows closed Wednesday April 9th is when offers will be released um kindergarten uh and kindergarten g&t uh the window opened on uh December 10th it closes on January 24th which is coming soon and offers will be released April 2nd prek just a reminder next week applications will open for our prek 3 3K uh February 28 prek and prek applications close 13th prek offers will be 13th of May prek offers will be released and May 20th 3K offers will be released g&t grades 1 through 4 April 21st g&t Upper Grade applications open Friday May 9th applications close and June 11th uh offers are released so couple of things project soapbox um this is something that's going on across our schools here in um in District 25 really excited about this work uh it does vary from school to school some schools went schoolwide where we even have our prease students coming to the stage delivering speeches um to some schools that have identified just a grade that they're working with right now uh but needless to say the the the focus of this is that our kids are able to create a persuasive speech they're asked to do research on an area that they're passionate about and then deliver a speech like an expert in front of their class and then a group of peers um in an auditorium if they get selected beyond the space of their classroom so what I love about this is that this ranges from real Global topics like global warming to things that are very near and dear to a child's own experience so we had a student who spoke of and this was a second grader spoke about his experience of having cancer and had to come here from China because he was not able to get the care that he was looking for um while in China so his parents brought him here and what his call to action was that every child every adult should be able to have the care that they need whenever it is that they need it and you think about such a profound message that us as adults try to try to deal with and figure out yet we have a second grader that is talking about a personal experience that to me sometimes we listen more to Children than we do adults so I think it's um really really awesome opportunity for our kids to talk about things that are important to them then I was in another school where a young lady talked about racism and in her conversation was referring to an experience that her mother um had um where her mother was not treated very kindly and what this student did during the speech she asked every student to stop what they were doing just for a moment turn to a neighbor shake their hand and say hi the entire audience just paused and enjoyed one another's company just by a handshake you just think about the power of something so small of turning to someone with a handshake building Community Building relationships and that's the power of these types of moments for our kids that we want to continue to explore and push our children to do because their voice does matter and it does create and help support change so this is something I'm really excited about we are a Civics for all district um we there are civics for all schools across New York City there are 30 districts that participate but we've gone districtwide um so it is an expectation that all school districts in in New York City do this but we've been now year three or four I think it's year four that we've been participating in this work um and it's really really exciting to see we've also established a district 25 youth leadership team this is made up of students from across our middle schools the focus of yeah fourth year thanks Melinda um the focus of this particular group is really to help organize around making a difference in District 25 uh so these students are working with uh Miss willins from our team uh and two teachers who have volunteered their time uh from one of our middle schools to connect with our students once a month they were they were here today to discuss ways that we can support and improve outcomes across the district using the data that we've gotten back from school surveys so the students have analyzed the survey data and they've been organizing around what is that next step that they're going to take to really promote Community across our district I'm really excited about this because one of the things that's going to allow me to do hopefully I did talk about this a lot last year never got it off the ground but it hopefully will serve in terms of the form of a of a podcast that the students will be doing with me around topics that they've been able to select to try to make a difference with their peers in their schools so really excited about this and more to follow Inc coming meetings uh District 25 Wellness day development so what I would love to do and and I would love to connect with the CC on this uh we do plan on doing this um in general anyway as a as District 25 but I would love two things one your feedback uh but two any participation that we would like to engage in as a cc in collaboration with ourselves at at the district office but also common Point our community based organization um to create a wellness day in alignment with what we believe in here at the district level promoting that space of social emotional learning M mental wellness and physical wellness um as a district Community I'm hoping for a March 8th um date is when I'm hoping for you're already giving me a face so maybe that date will change um show is that day your show is that day so we might have to change March 8th um to a to a different date uh but needless to say it'll be sometime in sometime in March we would try to do it um and what this would entail is uh us connecting with common Point they've offered their space um across the street from Bell Academy in 169 where they have their tennis courts and and their field where they put the Dome over it um where we would be able to engage in all types of activities connected to physical wellness all types of activities connected to mental Wellness social emotional learning um Diana from our team has connected with a whole bunch of vendors uh that would be there as well to to offer supports in this area um and I also know Grace you're this is part of your part of your field so I would love to tap into you for this for this as well um but first what do what do you guys think about that um this idea um and any kind of comments I personally really like the idea I know I made a face about the date we can't go by me because I'm in a show so you can't if it works for everyone else don't worry about me but I do think it's really important to have yeah it's great and it's a great space in the middle of the winter where people are kind of cooped up locked in doors this would be a great great you know Outlet anyone else ideas ideas around things that you would even want to see in that kind of a of an opportunity Katherine I know you got to take have the advantage of seeing it happen with uh with common Point themselves this would be kind of us in collaboration with them but oh I do little out during that one they had a lot cute stuff had a little Carnival area for the kids they had a lot going on and it is like you were saying for it community building a day out where families can come and you know get out of their house upen really postive so I think I think it's a great idea chance to kind of um compress a little bit yeah there's a lot of learning opportunities to do just with your kids that we don't always see as as a learning experience but it really is I mean even just going with in the space of community there are lots of things that kids were able to tangibly touch and and connect with that promoted that space of physical mental social emotional learning social emotional Wellness so um you know that's what my intent is yeah activity emotional but Multicultural environment like three areas in one so with my family we can try reply that kind of event yes I don't know but we can do that in the yeah yeah 100% And I would love for anyone that would be interested in kind of uh helping organize obviously a lot of the things that we will we will help put together just because we have access to all of the folks um but those that are interested from from the CC one obviously love to you guys to have your own booth and all of that stuff to kind of spread the word around CC uh but two any of you that are interested especially because you're in the field of organizing a booth or participating in one um I think it's just a nice thing to be out there and doing something that's connected with our kids and really promoting that space of of kindness and and respect and appreciation for one another and I that's a huge message for me that um I think is you know goes beyond the space of academics I I said this to to a group to the YT today you know I have an eighth grader and a 10th grader and yes to me academic certainly important but what's more important to me is that when they leave that house is that they're a reflection of me and that they're treating everyone that they come across with kindness because it's what I would expect that they do for every child that's around them so yes I want them to be academically strong but to me it's even more important that they are a child of strong character um and these are the opportunities that we have just to help build that is it the end all be all no but it's a way to send a positive message to the community that this is what we believe it's about being positive and being um you know a well-rounded child and part of being well-rounded is being kind to other people so anyway that's something that I'm I'm hoping to build it's going to be a short turnaround in terms of time uh we only have about two months to to get it organized but Diana has done a lot of that kind of connecting with some of these vendors already so they're ready to go is just about solidifying a date with common point and then collaborating with you guys around what you might want to include from the perspective of CC so does this sound like something you guys would be interested in collaborating on I yeah okay awesome so um just wanted to give you a quick update because I think you know sometimes the other things that are happening in the district don't get the the credit that they deserve um District 25 Elementary School athletics just want to make sure you guys know we do have our baset basetball League there's going to be an All-Star game for that we have winter and spring uh soccer um all teams will be playing at least uh one time in the bubble by Ali Pond Park um so that parents have an opportunity to come and watch their kids play um there's going to be a jamur celebration that that was organized last year as well uh so that families can come out to the fields and see their kids in action uh tennis we have a grades uh a pilot for grades 1 through three um and uh we have cheer across um all seasons and that's happening across our schools yeah I know my daughter brought up the tennis recently that it was like talked about at school so so uh this is here I'm not going to read through all the schools just so you know who's participating in what um for uh district 25 school representation Middle School athletics we have a boys and girls volleyball league uh there's going to be a championship game on January 31st uh winter we have basketball uh the first ever girls League pilot which we're doing uh this year really excited about that um we have the unified bot League the opening ceremony is going to be in February this I'm I'm really excited about and pushing for all of our middle schools to participate in this um this is for our uh our children that are um um for our children with uh with IEPs as well as our general education students coming together to engage in um in botch and for those of you that do not know um uh what Bachi is it is is it's a it's a really cool game and they it's not on a wide open field they have a court that's that's established and set up which is really really fun it's about the person getting close to closest to the the oh my goodness the the U Panini uh Panini I'm saying the wrong word um anyway the other ball the big Ball's got to get closer to the smaller one uh and then you earn points uh what is it yeah Bachi no it's talking about the ball no the middle the small one Stone interpretation so in in the spring we have soccer and Lacrosse which we are um excited about we want to build the lacrosse opportunities it's a sport that I played as a kid and I it's a really really awesome um experience there's the representation and then lastly um these are the schools that are participating um in it we're looking to build more around the unified Bachi League this year and more around lacrosse and these are just some of the Partnerships we have a part parip with nycfc uh the Special Olympics disny New York Mets City lacks New York Islanders is a new partnership this year they're going to be supporting schools and giving them resources uh Outdoors uh tomorrow Foundation American Heart Association and USA uh for tennis uh we do have an Athletics page I encourage you guys to hop in there um you know whenever it is that you see fit but it'll give you a rundown of all the things that are happening there okay so progress monitoring our goals uh as I mentioned for uh for the winter the window goes from January 2nd to February 9th uh Cadence assessment for K to2 uh we have reading 3 to8 for I ready math k to8 for I ready and algebra one is the map assessment um this is just a a quick little rundown of uh of data that you've seen before but I want to just give you a little bit of a picture and I'm sharing this with you just so that when you go back to your own schools and you're on your own School leadership team or you're talking about with folks in your community it's important that we're thinking about where are we now um in relationship to the goals that we've set at the start of the year so when we get to the uh that middle of February I probably won't have everything ready for the uh beginning of February meeting that we have for cc uh only because the window is still open uh but we'll give you a general idea of how We performed up until then um in alignment with where we want to be with the goals so um we broken it down by the subgroups that we we've targeted for Priority One schools will not necessarily have a a a document that looks identical to this but there will be things that they have within I plan that are aligned to this expectation uh same for priority three and I'm going to talk about priority 2 in just a minute I don't have that one on here and I'll tell you why in a minute uh priority four for mathematics priority five um for our parent survey and then lastly chronic absenteeism which um folks are going to hear me talk a lot about it our attendance is are is declining um it does happen every year at this point um we are now uh under 95% as a as a district Community we're at 94.5 uh in November remember we were at 95.4 right so we have seen a decline which means that our chronic absenteeism rates have increased now we are still meeting our Benchmark for the end of the year already you know that's still in play we are still 4% lower than where we were um at this point last year uh for some of our subgroups in terms of meeting the the M progress Target we're meeting the M progress Target for all of our subgroups um but it's climbing and we need to make sure that that does not continue to climb um I'm working with our attendance coordinator start sending out some positive messaging from us at the district level uh so we can get that message out to fames just a reminder of of healthy habits uh not necessarily calling out anyone being sick or not being in school because of anything but just healthy habits to make sure we stay uh ready for school every day yeah job are you counting two or more days or just every single day say again are you counting two or more days or every single day counts no every so one count every absent counts yeah yeah every absence counts so on any given day a child can go from from being in good standing quote unquote to being chronically out one day can change can change that from being below or above 90% attendance yeah um but anyway I share this with you just so that everyone kind of keeps in mind um what we what we are expecting inside of our schools that our schools are looking at the information that we have access to and then we're making decisions about what's going to be next inside of our buildings what do we learn from how our kids have performed um some of our goals we might meet other goals we might not and if we do not what do we do next uh if we have how do we accelerate further um those are the the two things that we ask our schools to really connect on uh and with as they go through through the middle of year assessment window now priority two is not there because it's going to be stretched further than the mo um and the reason why is many of our schools engage in that process of the survey they still have unpack they have to connect with all of the kids in their school to start developing these action projects um which we are now in the process of doing so um it's putting that forward to make sure that we can see some kind of an end result from the projects that the kids have created we will do Ani um followup just to make sure that we're connecting with our kids uh but those projects are just getting going they have not started just yet um so as soon as they do we'll also share some of those examples here at the CC but I believe that was my last slide and that concludes my report for today any questions for Dr I I ask you a question yeah um the parents of kids who are in GNT in fifth grade now would like to know if there's SP honor classes in 6 seven grade um we aware of the fact that there is none so is that a school decision supery decision or CH decision so all of our schools um organize themselves to get kids ready for region ready course work by the time they get into the e8th grade so that varies in terms of approach but every one of our schools are prepared for Accelerated cour workk by they they get into eighth grade so that kids can take living environment uh the biology region excuse me they can take the um um Algebra 1 regions they can take the US History regions they can take uh the Spanish um assessment so we're well prepared for all of our kids that are coming through our schools uh to engage in coursework that's going to get them ready for Regions level work uh in preparation for high school so the GN schol TR moved because my there's not there's not a g program in middle school but they have SP they have honors my son went to the district I'm not supposed to mention M he was I don't know which one that is not too far from us but anyway our neighbor it's I used to work it but anyway he had SP in middle school so um in a Grade they basically kept the same student they don't remove students easily but they do put other yeah so I I look at it as we accelerate and creating opportunities for acceleration and that is available for all of our kids but if you're accelerating everyone that's accelerating no one how you going to I I to me it doesn't make any sense you put kids in g&t in elementary school then you go to Middle School you have nothing but you're just in class with everybody else that just make no sense I mean from the educational point of view so I don't political point of view yes it makes all the SC in the world but from educational point of view it doesn't make any sense I mean making the presumption that those kids aren't given an opportunity to accelerate by being in a school where as a sixth grader that they're given an opportunity to do that you can differentiate learning style but you cannot differentiate ability if a group of student got forc on the fifth grade assessment other the K got three and tools they're sitting in the same class you're not giving equal learning chance to everyone because the tools are suffering and the force are not really learning so yeah I I I hear what you're saying and and that's something that we will agree to disagree on I don't I don't necessarily agree with that so that's a decision Bas basically by the chancellor I just need don't know what to say to them because they don't want to hear politically correct answers but I'm not giving you a politically correct answer there's there's opportunity for acceleration so all of all of the kids that you're talking about is taking a regent in the eighth grade acceleration they should be that's a different story well why I mean what do you mean they that's a it's a high school level thing it's High School level out there saying aers most aers are not ready for algebra research not not my experience research but anyway yeah but so but the the 60 the 65% of kids that wind up taking it in District 25 that are performing at an 85 or better are those kids not given that opportunity to do that it's over a thousand children so with with every single kid well I had 91% passing on the ELD region with a thousand kids taking in the ones and twos from eth grade so to me every kid you put in the out should be get 80 or higher otherwise they should learn eighth grade math I was there a particular school I won't mention names the principal proudly said I put the self-contained class taking the region SCH you just took away their chance of learning eighth grade math hello that's what you did Imagine start so but that wasn't your your that's not that's not your question though your question is is there opportunity forel ation the answer is yes so we accelerate every everyone including the on and two I but you're differentiating your question if your question is do sp children have an opportunity to to be to engage in accelerated cours work the answer to that is yes okay so my question is do the SP student have an opportunity to stay together in sixth and seventh grade so they can be even more advanced than the other students are they going to stay together well let not necessarily that's not necessarily a true statement but you I understand this is something that I think we're going to we're going to agree to disagree in this space so but if they had honor classes or classes those kids will go in anybody got a but they have opportunities for that though that's what I'm saying to you but they got a let's say a bunch of kid got for on the fifth grade assessment but you keep going to Fours it doesn't necessarily mean that that that that's the only child that can have access to that coursework okay you just answer my question you no but no I didn't no I didn't if you're if you're a child that has earned a three that same child can wind up getting a 100 on the region the kids who didn't get a four one why not show me one show me a kid got a three on a fifth grade assessment or lower who got 100 on the regions no very few kids got 100 on the other regions the ones that get 100 of those usually educated abroad that what educated somewhere else they they went to school somewhere else to get 100 on the algebra regions most of the kid got 100 were not educated I mean you really have to get a 30 on the regions to get a to get a 65 I mean it's not it's not it's you you need you get you need to do 30% right to get a 65 but to get 80 or higher you have to get 80% right one year they messed up if you got 92% right they give you 91 I called the state my principal always had a heart attack they changed it if you get 100 you have to get 100% right it's a it's a curve it's a curve to help the bottom students but the upper level once you go over 80 you got to get that percent otherwise you're not going to get that great so anyway you have answer that you I got my answer okay your question was if there are honors programs or screen programs in the district no honors program honors andon you get ad 185 no 194 and2 is a screed program to get in that's so there is Middle School that's what said Joe I'm not going to give you a blanket statement because every school has their own approach to how they've organized so if I tell you that there's there's SP across every single every single building that's not the way that it's organized so my answer to you was that there is accelerated opportunities for our kids across District 25 which prepares them for high school ready cours workk by the time they get into eth grade I have a separate question [Music] mle want and ask so I have a separate question um and then Venus has a question after that you talked about the attendance um obviously want everyone to have perfect attendance but like looking at a student what's like a normal range there's really no normal I mean there's not necessarily a normal range it's you you want children to be in school as often as they possibly can I mean research what Research indicates is that when you get below 90% you're really starting to impact a child's ability to stay focused and connected with the work especially our kids in kindergarten first and second grade when when our kids in kindergarten miss out on basic skills and phonics and pheic awareness and then they're asked to come back into the classroom after missing several days of school it's like they're on an reading is very hard it's not easy for for kids you know so when you remove them from the space of where they're going to do that work it impacts it so it's not necessarily saying to you that if you are at 98% that uh versus 97 that it's going to drastically change things it's when you start getting below that threshold of 90% is what research says really starts having an impact especially if that happens o year over year over year we've reduced the child's ability to be proficient significantly by the time um they get ready for middle school high school and then beyond so to follow up on that do most students go below 90% throughout District 25 do no so we have 16 right now we're at 16% of our kids that are chronically out okay um it was at 14 over the last two months we've increased by 2% you know um and that's because you know winter months do come with you know winter fun you know which includes getting the flu getting you know those are the things that happen during that time you know so there there's no real great way to protect against getting the flu which is why we say all those healthy habits right wash your hands don't put those fingers in those mouths you know um which I listen I have to tell my my daughter all the time she's in 10th Grade and she's you know which I'm a terrible terrible example because I I'm constantly doing that too being in the car sometimes as long as I have to to get home it's like it's a terrible habit that she sees me do and I have to tell her please stop doing that you know but it's it is a it is a scenario that happens yeah no Venus has a question hi Venus hello you can't see me oh there I am I have my honey on it's co good evening sorry I couldn't be there my car is a 2007 Toyota Corolla so the warm it up to get all the way to Flushing and then for it to get cold in the parking lot is not the best when I have a rebuilt transmiss TMI but my question is for you Dr Dan can you hear me I can okay great our stories matter so I just want to share a brief story and ask you a question so my son's personal story is that um he entered the public school system with in prek in 2011 and I advocated for him to get skipped the grade because he was at a lower performing School in my school district where I live which is District 28 at the time that he entered 8% were passing the ELA and 8% and 10% were passing the math so that means that 92% of the students were not on grade level in the ELA exam and 90% were not on grade level of the math in map and I believed at that time um the United Negro College Fund of mind is a terrible thing to waste so I had my son promoted a grade so he started September in prek and then in December he went into kindergarten but I noticed that he had a propensity for Math and his principal David Norman who's the superintendent of District 27 and he said he loves you and gave you a shout out as well as as well as Mr fo Mr Fox I don't know what his role is I think he's the executive director Mr Fox y he said you're a good man and he loves you he appreciates you but my question was my story with my son Mr Norman introduced me to Khan Academy and I would sit with my son when he was willing at four or five or six or seven years old and I saw that he could handle certain math and then I would um like promote him on the computer as well as when he was in the second grade I requested because he had ADHD and he was hyperactive I requested that he be pulled out to go into third grade math when he was in the second grade and that first third grade year he got a level four on a state exam uh fourth grade level four fifth grade level four so when he transitioned to middle school when I was looking for middle schools I was having conversations with principles about who would be willing to do something transformative and Innovative which was allow my son to take the algebra regions in the sixth grade so my son at 11 years old when he was in the sixth grade in June said for the algebra region in June with the nth with the eighth grade students that were in like SP that were being prepped for the algebra region so my question to you is would you and the district office consider take giving some type of survey to for parents and families who like me knew my son was very strong in math and would like the opportunity to try for their children to take the algebra regions in the eth grade even if they're not in an accelerated program or SP or in honors classes and you know maybe there's some type of marker where we the district could identify you know let's give this kid kid a chance they might be twice exceptional they may not they might hate to read but they might be like my son really good at math and even though my son didn't get a high score um to what's his name John right the math Man Joe Joe my son didn't get 100 he only got a 66 right but for me that was a great as a mother who Ood the school system it was a great marker if he got a 66 on the algebra region at the end of sixth grade when he was 11 years old it let me know his potential so maybe families might be interested in volunteering their kid or maybe their kid feels confident it may not be doing good overall but might be really strong in math would you be interested or open to considering some type of survey where parents or students can volunteer themselves to take the algebra region in the eighth grade even if they're not in accelerated SP special classes special schools all the bells or whistles so I don't know that it's a matter of whether you survey survey parents as much as it is there's an expectation for kids that are participating in Regence level coursework that they've mastered the skills prior to getting into that space meaning that they've completed coursework for sixth sth and 8th grade in order to be eligible to take the Regent examination in the eth grade so typically kids are exposed to content across those grade levels in order to be prepared for uh Region's coursework is typically the what happens inside of a middle school setting um so I don't know that a survey would really do it would really be about uh you know how those children are are being given an opportunity to take all those other grade levels uh it's not as though you just jump from I'm not really can't speak to the experience that your son had um and you know how they gave him access to do that but um part of the rationale is that kids have an opportunity to to show that they're ready to go into that work by completing the the grade levels before it so typically kids go from 6th to 7th and then they they engage in the coursework uh so that they can take the region Sports work as well yes and I just wanted to interrupt to say that my son uh he wasn't in any region classes in the sixth grade he was in the regular sixth grade curriculum but he did go to like a region prep at the middle school with the eighth grade students who were preparing to take the region exam the only reason why I was pushing for it was because from my own assessments at home using the KH Academy I knew his strengths in algebra so it wasn't about him being exposed to the academics it was like not a fluke but it was like there might be students that are a genius in the third grade right it might be able to pass the algebra regions better than a ninth grader because math is just their thing so how can the district kind of like identify math genius in their students who might not be you know sixth grade seventh grade eighth grade through the coursework but they still just naturally maybe are gifted in math yeah I just don't I don't know Venus that that goes through the space of of a survey or uh just taking an entry assessment to to find that out um you know it does involve making sure that kids meet expectations from State requirements in order to do that so um but I hear you I appreciate the question any other questions I don't know what they're doing anything else that's all we got yeah thank all right guys this fun okay so uh Ben should be joining us in the next few minutes but I'll quickly go through my president's report um we will be after we speak with Ben we will continue talking about the sea uh projects because we need to decide on our list today um that we want to submit so um that will be a huge discussion for us I do need to know whether we want to have the fair student funding presentation in February or March if anyone has any preference so that I can let Elina know feary February heard it three times it's a new presentation not really um okay and [Music] then give me one second I have a bunch of different stuff here so yeah it can uh we'll have it as part of our calendar meeting and she'll have that set up for us and then I'm sorry I have one other thing I wanted to bring up which I'm actually G to have marabel speak briefly um we have officially entered CC election season for our next round of Elections so marabel would um if you want should I stand yeah they uh there the yeah right there chair chair it is election season CC um elections are um launching if I don't know if all of you saw but there was um a press release today and um the transfer announced the start of the election season so on Monday elections will launch all parents can run via their next accounts so all of the members that are currently here would have to rerun if they would like their um um you know to continue on the CDC um so the application runs from Monday through mid-February after that time there will be candidate forums candidate forums are hosted by the president's Council and candidate forums are they're not debates um because you know the candidates are not debating each other but they're asking they're answering a series of questions that are asked by the president's Council so the community could know the candidates and know how to vote after that um voting will start um late April through mid May and then the results will come in June um so what do education councils do so education councils do a variety of things there are Citywide and Community Education councils they do a variety of things such as approved zoning lines host um town hall with Chancellor they can host legislative breakfast with elected officials and communities to discuss Community concerns and all the things that you see here as well next slide please why are these elections important the elections are important because of all of the things that the council members do and you want to make sure that you're having an input and you're making sure that you're electing representatives and parents who are going to advocate for you your children and um the schools and the district next slide please who elect education council members you do the parents do parents of um public school students who are eligible um will elect the council members there are 36 education councils that's 32 District councils and four Citywide councils so each district has uh Community Education councils and there are four city-wide education councils the citywides are high schools um English language Learners special um education and d75 and this is the composition so each Community Education Council has 12 voting members um two members are high school seniors so each Council can have up to two um student members those are those are appointed by the superintendent um in order to be a student member you would be part of um either uh student government or another leadership role those um students would apply they have to live in the district that they serve not go to school in the district that they want to sit on but live in the district that they want to sit on and then the other members are elected by the parents um one particularly has to be a parent of a student with um that's an English language learner and another one a student of a parent with a IEP or individualized education plan and one is reserved for um parent of a student in District 75 within um that district and to borrow present um these are the uh these are the Citywide education councils and these are um the composition of those councils how do I apply so in order to apply you have to have a nxa account so it's very important that you sign up for Nia account if you have a n account but you haven't used it in time make sure you are using it you're actively using it not only do you use NX to apply and vote for CC's and you know community and Citywide education councils but you use that to check your students attendance records report cards I know there's busing information there's so much information in the Nixa portal the New York City Schools portal so really important um to have a nxa account next slide please um is student driven so your eligibility will depend on what school your child sits in and what program they sit in and also your ability to vote depends on that as well so if you have a child that's in District 25 and a student in District 26 you can vote for both of those councils and you could run for both of those councils however you can only sit on one of them so if you apply and you have students in different districts you would put in priority order um your preference this is the data for District 25 no way yep is so it looks alarming here but I assure you that actually District 25 is among the top um districts with voter turnout yes but we can always do better yes this is um District 25 is among the top and actually the top is TE and you know one of one of the top thank you Joe yes however we can still reach more parents right remember what CS do and how important they are and it's really important to have a voice in the members of these councils because they represent you they represent the families um you know of the district so really you know trying to get that n can be a challenge um awareness right it's really important that people know what C's are I think not enough not enough parents know what cc's are you know education awareness is a big thing because you're not going go for something or run for something if you don't know what it is um so I think awareness is um a really important P yeah yeah and the parent coordinators can help with the Nix account set people up yeah we have so many of our families that are that do have access to their accounts um I think you know just messaging in general I think is an important part because you know you look at that as a powering is that's something that can kind of remind people about um yeah we can push out you know notices to you know just reminders that there are these things that are accessible inside of um you you know inside of the the Nixa platform I think that would be helpful to see an increase in our district other doesn't even know it exist doesn't even know it exist yeah yeah and that also affects data right when some you know some couples may say oh you know this parent is doing all the education stuff they have the Nyx account I don't need a NYX account um but it's very important that both parents have the next account that you could look at any time um so it's important to me that both parents are involved but I everyone has different circumstances I want to share a personal experience I couldn't sign out to black school I had to go to the parent C there's a link to click on that to get in once they get out they won't let me in I change the password it won't work so every time I want to do something I had to go to her you know her message click on That's schol So the my school's account and the Nick's account it's a remedial course though [Music] another important thing to know quickly is just that n and my schools are two different and people um get them confused so really important so one of the things I wanted Mar to speak is council members that we currently have I want you to consider if you're if you are still eligible if you're going to rerun and also to share with others so that we can get that word spread across the board at your schools um that you're assigned to as well as your individual schools that your children attend so really just keep spreading the word and there will be more information coming out over the next couple of weeks so thank you marel there's also some flyers here if anyone wants to take them to their schools um now we do have Ben with us from SCA Ben how are you I'm good thanks so much for having me no problem I'm gonna let you take it away we will SL uh share your PowerPoint for you and go from there okay great um I will also then share it on the on the zoom link then are you able to share it on your screen because we I'm do that right now y okay perfect amazing okay uh good evening everyone I'm Ben Goodman external Affairs Affairs manager for Queens North uh for the school construction Authority uh thank you very much uh for having me uh so at tonight's at tonight's meeting um we will uh discuss an overview of the fiscal 25 through 29 plan and what that means for a district 25 um going over the highlights as well as the capacity program um these are the new project or new uh building projects that have opened this past September um the ps32 edition of course and the addition for the pul alone Community campus um additional new capacity we're bringing online for District 25 uh discussing our Capital Improvement uh resolution a those are the grants from elected officials uh the minority um women owned locally based Enterprise program as well as discussing uh the comment form and of course taking questions and comments um from our parents CC members and students who are with us this evening uh so the 5year capital plan uh for fiscal 25 uh through 9 UM totals approximately 20.5 billion uh capacity is approximately uh 6.98 billion these are new schools the sca brings online um or new additions or annexes so again a couple of quick examples across um District 25 um is the additions again for ps32 um for the pone Community campus that just opened the uh new high the new um High School annex for John bound as well as a new Primary School um in Flushing um an additional other projects ACR course across the district um the healthy schools initiative approximately uh 2.28 billion this includes items such as electrification um heating plant upgrades swimming pool upgrades gym upgrades um Athletic Field upgrades as well as cafeteria uh experience enhancement and playgrounds a capital approvement of approximately $7.5 billion doar um this is anything the sca does to keep our buildings watertight and in a state of good repair such as new window projects new roofs um exterior U modernization and masonry lastly the mandated category at approximately three and 3/4 of uh billion dollars that is anything the sca is required to do pursuant to city state or federal law so an example of that um is the boiler conversion program um so a couple of quick highlights um we are pursuing electrification at uh two buildings in District um 25 um we also have a new capacity it's approximately uh 6.13 billion uh technology uh that's a typo it should be A1 and A4 billion dollar uh accessibility um to bring uh either full or partial accessibility uh to buildings across the city uh continuing the physical education space upgrade um and uh the new cafeteria enhancement experience to change the look and modernize the cafeterias across the city um to get more into details as to what is comprised of the capacity program uh the new capacity program these are our additions annexes and new Standalone buildings that's approximately the bulk of it at 6.13 billion the next two categories are really um site specific hold on the computer went to sleep on it's that computer though yeah give us one second Ben sure sure that's what he said he said they have the um the new high school and college point also you didn't mention that one yes okay we're back up now sorry so so the new capacity so that would be for specifically for District 25 uh would been uh the pone Community campus and the 32 Edition just that just open uh the annex for John bound High School uh the new High School in College Point and additionally the new Primary School um in Flushing um we we'll go over um a specific chart in a couple minutes then the next two categories are are really geared to specific schools rep placement is where um a building is no longer functional a new building needs to be built to house uh the students and staff and the school program a capacity to support TCU removal um this is a unique program for schools that still have TCU um the only way to actually remove them is to create new capacity for the students and staff a playground Redevelopment approximately 50 million um and continuing the Early Education Program these are the Standalone 3K and 3K buildings uh so so highlights for distri 25 we just opened the addition for ps32 the addition for the pone Community campus Building q169 um we do have the new Primary School on Waters Edge Drive in Bay Terrace as anticipated open September 2026 um there is uh three other projects where we are looking for sites for um I I do want to pause here though and just ask for help um as we do have Brokers that are assigned to Queens but if you do see um an appropriate site for a new school if you could let us know um we do look for approximately 20,000 square fet of dirt with two Street frontages uh about the size of a supermarket or bowling alley um you we really would appreciate that as we're always investigating potential new sites uh for District 25 as there's quite a large uh seat need uh lastly we do have for the primary school level um the new uh school on 45th Avenue it's approximately 700 seats that's anticipated to open in September 2028 in Flushing um and we also have the annex for John bound High School um that's approximately 630 seats it's anticipated to open September 2027 um and the new high school um in College Point uh that's anticipated to open uh in September 2027 as well the former St Agnes building uh so these are a couple of quick pictures of for the recent openings both at the pone Community campus and the ps32 Edition uh for Capital Improvements uh we still want to spend a minute or so explaining how a capital Improvement uh project can be placed in our Capital plan uh so there is a building condition assessment survey these are actually on each of the schools Doe websites we do send Architects and Engineers to all of our buildings across the city to do roof to Cellar inspections each of the building systems are ranked and from those rankings we can tell which of the systems need replacement um or which other conditionings such as water penetration for example might be happening in the building or necessitate um a capital Improvement project are issues reported by our colleagues at school facilities or custodial Engineers or deputy director of facil ities a mandated repairs again anything the sca is under required to undertake pursuant to city state or federal law a resolution a I'll explain in a minute the grants from elected officials and of course requests um from our C's so for District 25 um again there is quite a number of electrification projects um we do have a multiple cafeteria multi-purpose room upgrades uh work for exterior masonary um and parets playgrounds and roofs to name a few uh so the resolution a the these are specific grants that are given to us by our elected officials um we do ask though that you know if a school or um CC members interested in um getting one of these grants um they could be used for bathroom upgrades playground upgrades um other things such as green houses um gym upgrades um split cooling systems to bring Central air um into public assembly spaces uh that folks do ask us for a quote first um as we can give um a more accurate quote based on you know what what we've seen in the past and our experience as opposed to us speaking to a separate vendor uh so there have been quite a number of Reser projects of course District 25 of the bulk of which have been Auditorium upgrades totaling approximately $12 million uh the sca does run a robust minority-owned women-owned and locally based business Enterprise program uh we do have Targets on our projects um as well as running a mentor program uh we do uh ask um if folks know of any mwbe firms um that are interested in doing business with the sea uh to build and improve our New York City public schools so please let us know um we do have a very good business development team who's always happy to speak to any firms or individuals interested in doing business with us um we also run a mentor program um that does provide um Capital um as well as uh support on the back end for emerging firms who'd like to do business uh with the sea um so we do have approximately four firms across District 25 with eight uh projects total approximately uh $6 million in fiscal 24 uh this is the CC request Forum um the top five requests are due on by Friday the 17th and this is the contact information for myself our director of external Affairs of at night um questions regarding the building comment form can be sent to council at nycs ca.org um I'd like to thank everyone for their time and for having us here uh this evening I'll put my contact information in the chat I'm happy to answer any questions so Ben I do have a question just to start out um just from the council's perspective we did submit projects last year our top five um and then when we see that list not one project from what we submitted last year was chosen for that what goes into that decision making process and how do we ensure that like we're picking something that's going to possibly actually get picked so these school so what we look for is um or what we suggest is that folks take a look at the the bcast surveys on each of the schools websites um because those surveys do rank um each of the building systems and list list the the the systems that are in need of of repair um we we don't have unfortunately we don't have funding for um every request that comes in unfortunately I wish we did um and for certain requests like uh perhaps a bathroom upgrade um or um a room conversion upgrade um things of that nature that are are more geared towards um what's called an enhancement in the plan um that folks you know work with the elected officials for a resolution a grant uh for that nature thank you other council members have a question surely hi Mr Goodman I have a question so one of the school that was submitted last year is the school that I actually visited and it's the auditorium upgrade for the ps21 and they had a broken chairs in the auditorium where students passed by at the metal part was sticking it out and they have to put literally like a yellow do not you know yellow tapes around so we did actually took a picture and also triy to submit it but when I um met um principal Mr swari uh last year December for the but he did respond to because I I was very worried about that condition for the students wellbeing and he did answer uh he did respond to me saying that uh you know SCA never re never reached out or contact so is there any way that we could actually track or find out what is going on with the project yes uh he received um resolution a funding no he didn't he didn't get any uh any Conta after that like no nothing from SCA okay um so I I I can check um if if a project has been created um and I I will I can get back um to the to the president and the C um or you can contact me directly as well okay it will be really I will really we'll really appreciate if you could also send that information directly to us so that we could you know we feel responsible for these projects too because we do care so I just want to I just and this was uh ps21 ps21 okay okay I will look into it other questions I have yes hi Mr Goodman I I'm kind of interested in the project that SCA has approved that new brand new uh public school that's going to be opening at 13723 45th Avenue the one that you were saying that will be completed by September of 2028 yes the neighborhood and also a lot of the schools were running did not know about this project and even the CC of 25 here was not aware of this until you know that you know may have crossed by that area and know oh there's a a whole area that's that's going to be building something so is there any way that we can get more additional information froma so I I'm sorry I missed the first card of what you said on what the address this is a new Primary School on 45th Avenue this is the yes yes so this um this school actually we did come before c25 it was the the previous [Music] um uh the previous folks um under the previous presidency um probably it would have been about 2 years ago um that that we had that we had the review um a required site selection review um as well as us going before the community board so at this time um construction has not yet started um as the project is is still in design okay but is there any way that we can get details or updates on it yes um yes I I will follow up to see um you know what we what we can provide you know at this time um to to get into to more details with what the uh new Primary School um will look like and what the um what the amenities will be for the students sure thank you Katherine I think you had a question hi Ben I have a question for you about um upgrading the bathrooms in the schools I know you said that schools can reach out out um to the elected officials for reso funding um but time many of the bathrooms in these schools are original to the buildings so I just want to like read a little bit about some of the blurs that we some of the not the blurs but but some of the applications that were put through and the things that principles have had to write about the bathrooms in their buildings Renovations of the student toilets are a priority the to toilets in the existing buildings are from 1938 with little to no modernization of any kind the flushometers for the urinals and bowls are very difficult for the youngest students to operate um we have major issue with cleanliness in this is another school we have a major issue with cleanliness in our building due to old bathroom equipment toilets are constantly becoming dislodged from the wall causing bathroom closures And Timely repairs um and from another school many of the bathrooms are original again to including the toilets which are difficult for many of our students especially our youngest to flush properly so what exactly is the policy in Sea on bathrooms and when does the lifetime of bathroom come to a point where the sca finally agrees to renovate all of them in the building I know that we're able to get some funding from res to do two bathrooms here and two bathrooms there but when all the bathrooms in some of these buildings are in this type of a condition it really is a problem and we need to start you know getting all of them fixed not just two at a time this year and maybe in the next year or two another two at a time so could you just sure sure so the sca doesn't have a bathroom program those are usually handled by our colleagues at the vision of school facilities so and every time we talk to facilities facilities says it's sdaa so this is it's not facilities anymore because these are major construction projects it's not you know replacing a faucet here and repairing a drain over there these are full bathroom Renovations that need to get addressed there are so these schools are celebrating their 70y year anniversaries with bathrooms that are original this is czy the kids can't flush the toilets properly they have the hard to turn on water faucets that the kids can't operate well to be able to wash their hands well after they go to the bathroom and keep germs away and everything else you know it's it's and we've been told by facilities flat out that it is not a facilities thing at that point that it is definitely more towards the Sea Side so I think that's where so yeah so so if it if it is so Ben so Ben this is this is kind of part of the conversation that you and I had earlier today um you know it's it's connected to that same kind of conversation so there is a relationship between um you know both the sea and and DSF in in this in this particular case I'm not sure if you're able to to kind of talk a little bit through that at all but yes um that's kind of organized with why this this particular question is also coming up many of our schools but um a a school in particular is something that I raised to you earlier which is connected to this very conversation sure so so the way the way it works there's two processes there's one which is through um resolution a um where the the sea W does receive the the the funding from om that's allocated from the elected official for bathroom upgrade that funding is sent to division of school facilities for them to to undertake the project there's the other way where a Project's referred to us um for for egregious instances a a capital um project is needed um where a work order is created by the custodial engineer that that work order then get sent um to Vernon to DSF headquarters um if it said okay well no this this is egregious as needs um Capital repairs um then it that sends to the sca um also though when we do the bcast surveys those instances where the bathrooms are ranked as the top priority is needing and a capital project um those also could be included in the capital plan so some of these bathrooms were listed as needing those improvements last year and they still not yet taken care of so like why would that keep falling off the radar I for for those though that if it if it's still if it still didn't get taken care of you we would urge that that to be done through the resolution a program um because because that would mean that it it was Lo looked at as part of the C request and there might not have been available funding for that so it's so it's funding issue I mean yeah so in in um the case that's closest to you um they they do have uh a scenario that I know that they're they're trying to work through I don't know that that's a that you're that particular school I don't know that that's a funding issue per se um I think they're organizing they're organizing around that space But that's still only B that is through through res and what happens to the rest of the bathrooms when do those get addressed like we just do two bathrooms every year until every bathroom is I mean no 70y old bathrooms yeah no I I I get I mean the only thing I would say is that even closing them all down at the same time is difficult um in a given time period you know to make sure that they're all all ready to go by the start of a school year because closing down bathrooms during the school year is not optimal that's concern you know so the the volume of them that that would need to be completed also I would imagine I'm not in that I'm just speaking out loud I'm not in that in that world of what it takes to put them together or organize um but in the in this case with the res the I do believe that the the funding is there I think there's just some things that they have to organize around between um the funding um SCA DSF and then the the group that would actually put the bathrooms together so there's more more to follow on that but it's it's something that has been kind of sh pieced together everyone something yeah okay thank you any other questions from Council Members before I ask the public I just I don't have a question but I just wanted to clarification what was asking so we're looking an update on all the requests that we put in not just the school you were referring to right did I get that right we last YearOne of he took down the name that you mentioned but I'm saying we're looking for an update reest so the five schools that we requested last year from what I'm understanding if I remember correctly Ben from our communication they did not get funded through SCA for the to move forward through you guys is that correct I'm sorry I don't have it in front of me um if it if it if it did say it's it's not um a project that can that can be done at this time that that would be correct that there was no there's no funding available yeah that wasent to us I I have that email so that was something that none of the schools chosen last year did get chosen through the sea funding to go through the process so that's one of the things that we definitely yes um I believe Mr Browski had her handr had a question Miss braski hi good evening everyone um I am the principal of the school that we're kind of speaking of and you know I as a school leader who is greatly invested in moving forward work that is important to me and my school Community I will say that this has been one of the greatest challenges for a relatively new school leader to navigate um just in terms of knowing who to reach out to to move certain projects forward so regardless of where the money comes from and the pace at which the work is done I think the ultimate goal is to keep making progress so if there's a way to be a little more transparent not that there's a lack of transparency but a clear system that we can follow to ask questions to move work forward we have spent a lot of time sending emails to the wrong people to start over again and it just seems if there was something public facing that kind of laid out DSF versus SCA versus check your building survey when you're writing up these requests I never thought to look at my survey results before for selecting what projects I might submit to CC in the future I will do that if I know that's the selection criteria so just some things for us to think about thank you Mr Brasi thank you are there any other questions from the council members or from the public or comments in regards to this topic um Eden this is Danel arov can I talk for a minute you're good go ahead Dan I just want to I am also a parent um at the school in question Miss braski just talked to I want to support what she said here um this seems like a process that is designed to be opaque and extremely frustrating to all community members I understand that you know we they're they're designed for reasons but we need more help um the bathrooms are in an unacceptable State at the school and um you're going to have parents are going to throw their hands up and be like oh let's just move to Long Island that's not what we want to do right we we need we need to work in the system we need to try to improve it let's get it done all right um superintendent uh datona um I know you said there are things that need to be coordinated can we please be more specific about what needs to be coordinated um I this is the kind of stuff that I want to hear the details about I'll be attending future CC meetings to you know figure out if these pieces are actually falling into place if you need parent get to come in and like explain the impact this is having on their kids I will do that um but what what are what actually needs to be coordinated to care yeah so so the the spe specifics behind us just so that you know the projects around SCA are not necessarily A District 25 space um this was actually shared with me by um from Eden a couple of days ago so my awareness around the struggle with this particular component uh was only learned a few days ago from by from Eden to me so um in terms of that my my place in this is to make sure that we're connecting with the appropriate people Ben being one of them uh and Bill Leroy being the other those are the two that help organize these particular scenarios uh because this is a resay funded project it is something that in terms of coordination is just through making sure that those channels of making purchase orders to the particular organization that's going to constructing the project are all aligned that stuff is not something that I necessarily handle but what my my role in it is is to make sure that I help coordinate with these particular groups um so that's that I'm doing that's not I completely understand that's not your job you were just you you you started off the conversation mentioning you know uh very vague things about need fall with the place and so I want to put some concrete details around this so they can be tracked um you know I think yeah so I I wasn't intending to be opaque I my my entry point into that was to make sure that we make sure that we're connecting the dots um yeah as I said learning about the the circumstance with the bathroom is also new to me as soon as I learned of it we started making conversations with uh those that help handle this so that is what my role is in inside of this space is hearing that there's an issue and then creating opportunities to create uh to correct it um and that's what I'm doing um I I think it sounds like we really need like some kind of project manager or some someone who's going to I guess help bring this all together I guess unfortunately for Mr Browski it's going to be her as a de facto um you know coordinator of this um and I I as I said like there are multiple parents that we have heard from um that this is a problem they tell their kids not to use the bathroom um they have to hold it until they get home um as a parent of a child who has bowel issues it's very stressful for my family um you know the I I'm I actually just spent the last 20 minutes trying to find the ps15 building condition survey Ben I have no idea what website this is available on but I will be reviewing that after this meeting um so like you know we will there are parents that are very upset about this at the school and we will be you know here in future CC meetings helping to make sure that these pieces are falling into place thank you Den yeah thank you Ben would you be able to show us one of these bcast reports um to kind of maybe give people more of an idea of what to look for in sure uh let me see if I can pull it up now I can put a link to one um in in the chat I have one in front of me right now so this issue for this school it was the number one C recommendation last year the number one and it is nowhere to be seen on the report for what was going to get what w was getting done this year it was it was our first recommendation on the list if what can you even show us how to get navigate to that if we wanted to look at that as well as like what they look like what we told last year sure I'm going to pull it up now yes it's it's just not necessarily that the the projects that you list are going to get funded it's those are two different things that's important to not is that just because it's it's something that you identify um as a cc as a project that you want it doesn't always mean that those particular projects get the funding that you're hoping for not that that makes that something right or or connected to you like because we're citing it as a priority we're going to these schools we're taking time out of our own days the principal taking time out of their day to show us around to all of these different issues like it should be noted somewhere that this school has a major have seen it and so it's gonna be number 23 on the list of priorities when it come or it's gonna whatever it needs to like have a a placement after we've recommended it to know that at some point well the work we've done is GNA mean something and that the people who are asking for help are going to get it so I think one of my other questions just because I was looking at one of the reports just now on my computer is what is the priority like what's considered is Priority One considered like number one priority is priority four considered like what's what order of the priorities does that go also sure so it it's priority five um and four um th those are the those are the um the key categories for saying what something is um you as as the worst um number five then going back from there okay can I have a followup question yeah um Mr Goodman if you're saying that funding is the issue and you're also saying that wrestle a with elected official who's willing to fund the project would that put the priority up into number one priority for that particular project no because the there there's two separate um two separate priorities it could be um you know again sent sent to us as a request um or it could be sent you know to the the council members or the borrow presidents or um or state elected official to um to say you know yeah perhaps you know this school needs um new Auditorium curtains for example or new chairs or things of that nature could you could you please uh give the school a grant through R SOA so so that um sea can work on a project yeah but something like like backs and and the elected official is saying well I want to give you know part of the money that I have to the school to modernize the bathrooms shouldn't that be given priority and have to go through all that red tape again right I mean if an elected official wants to do that you know that would be great they they would just they would put the the Grant in so you're saying so you're saying that the community elected official should find that public official get money and then try to push it through District no no no no if the elected official Grant gives the grant as part of the city um capital budget process that's it then the then the project you know would get created um and then we we would move ahead because we would we would take the grant it's what the elected official says um and then take the Grant and then you know work work using that Grant to start the project I was worried because course yeah doesn't mean it's not dangerous it's what they're gonna prioritize the F Well Ben just just the the process is right you we want bathrooms so then we get an estimate from SCA on what that costs then we go to elect official say hey can we get a grant for $500,000 um and say okay then the $500,000 goes to SC gets allocated to SCA which is what you quoted for it so then the bathroom should be done is that kind of the process exactly that's it so so just to to quickly um I know some were were asking around where do you find that information just to kind of pop it up for you this is just the school you'll see see that on the school for and this is just the example for for John bound ps20 you go over to reports facilities and that's where you'll find the bcast report for each each school so every school has what they call the building condition assessment survey um and that's what Ben has been referring to so it's right here right on every school's site uh you'll have access to that particular space r facilities just so that everyone is this survey done annually for every school yes it is does anybody have any other questions or comments for Ben since Dr Mike was able to show us that briefly okay thank you Ben thanks Ben thank you I'm sorry we attacked you you're very you're very you're very welcome um I will follow up on the question regarding ps21 and the auditorium upgrade um if there's any other questions always please feel free to reach out to me um we're always happy to help and provide assistance thank you so much thank you Happy New Year take care thank you so I'm gonna move on to public speaking I know that I did see Venus wanted to speak so I'm going to start with Venus luck me good evening let me show you myself again so you can see here in the kitchen making dinner got rid of the hoodie yeah no I'm in the kitchen now don't mind my hair I'm turning the camera off now um but yeah I'm doing my best um I don't know why um the sca tour I love not love but I you know I know B and I know Danielle but it really just highlights um the need for understanding my commitment to parent education and parent empowerment around how the Department of Education Works I think I've suggested a great book called um public education for the white parent and I'm not specifically highlighting white parents but in the book she talks about um like the understanding sea and who's paying for what and my frustration is the C spending countless hours creating a list for them to just go with the list that they have that they know that they have what their priorities are and what they're funding and just really par that they're using the system not using it but like to their advance making sure that your child is successful because focusing on all these other things and then those things that the C is focusing on don't get done right but there are real parent and Community concerns there are real demographic income low income marginalized concerns in our schools happen because they know what upgrades they're going to do it's not him specifically it just frustrates me that um the energy that we could be putting toward why a family's child is ABS so much and really giving them the supports that they need and the resources that a parent need if their child is struggling with reading and we're creating these list for upgrades that are never going to happen anyway so that really frustrates me but I wanted to just piggyback on what I spoke about last month which was I am still F flabbergasted like my gaskets are flabber that in District 25 there's only 3.9% black families and it really hit close to home because I was one of those black families I was one of those black students the only black girl in my gifted and talented class so it really I really am going to be focusing on that for 2025 I've been utilizing the power of chat GPT and it's telling me that I'm an advocate for equity and Dei and all these terms that I don't normally use in my speaking but I am an advocate for equity and inclusion and um a sense of belonging for that small percent of black children it's like good now I can laser focus and not only black because what I say and what other people say I didn't make this up is that in black children supports all children right focusing on black children benefits all children so I just am choosing to focus on the black children in the district because it's such a small percent and making sure that they feel like they belong that they see staff that reflect them and if they don't that the staff that is there really affirms and uplifts them and I just wanted to suggest um MBK and msk my brother's keeper and my sister Keepers making sure that um those programs are within the district in the middle schools and even sharing with the elementary schools to make sure that those um marginalized and um families of color not only black but um Latino and and Asian and all um underrepresented marginalized communities feel seen heard valued and respected and that their environments are welcoming and that they're reflected in the curriculum so that's my new passion for the new year is really because it's only three even when I think about 3.9% and how tiny that is those students in my opinion should be getting a a high quality loving caring experience and then also like what percentage of those students are special education students students with IEP students with disabilities I would love to see the demographics around black and Latino students and what percentage they make of students with disabilities so that was it for tonight thank you so much thanks Venus does anybody else want to speak that's on the zoom okay perfect yeah I looked okay we are going to move on to any new business does anybody have anything for new business I think um not new business just a suggestion I think for next child the meeting we should uh we should consider what we're going to do for uh a war ceremony because I was going to talk about that and also I was just suggesting like last year we did a do something that family something that we could do for family and students I think we should also consider doing that with the Minos to of course it's coming up but somewhere around like a April or May we could like brainstorm together and create something event like that so I have to find out um I I was thinking about that earlier also when we were talking about the wellness day um I have to find out how we went about the zoo last year and getting that set up because I know Carly initiated it before she was gone so I could find out a little bit more about that um I'm sure we have a lot of the the pap work and things like that con see um what options we have there um and see what we have we're going to talk about the budget a little bit later um but also going along that uh the award ceremony is definitely something that is in the near future already um so I definitely do plan on us having a further conversation about that as well so I do because I want to make sure we order things in advance um so we don't have to worry come time for spending so right on target with where I'm going during our business meeting any other new business I don't know that's like the metro card type thing okay like I don't now do not allow children even if they're showing the only card and it's not working they're being asked step I've seen this myself so did you did you let the school know that did they replace the card no they do not have replacement card they usually let them wait a period of time and as long as they so if there's typically the those cards were're able to kind of indicate that that there's an issue with the card and then replace yeah we'll have to we'll have to we'll work with you on that we'll help you out with that my daughter so thankfully that's never going to happen to her but not everybody has that ability and if they're being asked to step off the bus to me that's a concern as a parent yeah sure absolutely 100% good good topic frustrated driver which has happened right in front of my eyes where three kids were asked to step off the bus C which is very wrong cold and people get mad and the things kids are selling off their Metro cars there are somewh doing that but there's some genuinely their cards don't work I appreciate you bring that up cuz that's actually not something that's come up previous no I haven't heard that that's the first that I've heard something like that I do appr I can speak with uh with Dr Bradley about that but I have not heard um circumstances where where Omni cards were not working and yeah yeah we can work on that awesome okay anybody else have anything else is the distance um from the school of acquired in order to qualify for one of those cards L was mile over a mile right yeah depends on grade level and u m it's it's over a mile I think right yes over a mile over a mile over a mile like my house you have to pay yeah this house then you get partial there's partial fair and then full Fair depending on the distance from from home but Lou can share so and but they don't just give it you need to ask for it or if they needed it I guess yeah they're accessible for anyone that that's within that space yeah we we'll we'll figure out why that is okay anybody have anything else or want to make a motion motion okay thank you everyone for attending tonight um I'll give it two minutes and we'll start our business meeting yes have a good evening everyone good night everyone year happy New Year 2025 sounds funny even saying sounds weird it hasn't kicked in yet this is the year oh you're feeling it all right I like [Laughter] it Charlie did I get to introduce you in Egypt oh no not yet sorry I came late has everyone met Egypt at this point okay grace EGT yeah is Complicated by the fact that my ex-wife okay I have three kids so she access but my wife so it's really weird and it's very weird I think it has to usually usually when there is multiple access points from yeah it does it does cause a little bit of an issue but I'm a a my goal was now you're good so I'm I have access parents in P they're not always F graders they have to put the yellowe put right indidual program at the school level which is different you know it's not so they they provide opportunities for for kids across their individual which is why I can't use you can't I can't use language and say this is because they all have their own way of of organizing it if I put it out like that and makes it sound like and but oh but Dr dantona said this you know and then it creates a situation where I'm having to swallow words that that's why I say when I say acceleration I'm giving you what what's the reality they all my requirement of my teachers is not just of your teachers the requirement of all teachers whether or not that social teach Myer social when iing so anyway I said to my teachers before the you need to have an idea how many kids can do the homework which is the reason of course 100% yeah yeah right it went right through I got off the Wii what happened I had I had an email IED to S when I got here it wasn't going yeah I turn my Wii off you know what um I think any I don't know exactly what it is because the the building is coming across through um because it's a doe building there are certain things that they don't let you access to yeah so certain yeah so certain apps certain apps you'll you won't be able to get through just because of you're in a doe space okay yeah we have to finish up no you go sit down and we'll talk aftering about bathrooms yes Dan you heard Dan's voice too they know everyone's voice Ben was the guy that was talking hold me did you say hi to Dr Mike what's up yeah how you doing crazy girl she actually to sleep till 6:30 morning I was like how am I sending her into the building she had just fall asleep and then be crazy you got to go to school he's going to tell you you got to be in school every day every day 100% okay every day see see look at my entry point I love it I'm just giving isot a minute to get back and Alvin is here okay and then we'll get started give me your arm so we can move things [Music] along excuse me say again wait this week's not so bad just it's only one real late night so it's not so bad next week I have like three in a row which I'm like until until until until 8 you know each of the nights around like oh man it's not so bad when you have them spread out but when it's multiple nights in a row the body just does not agree with me when I was a principal we had events almost every night I had 1500 1600 kids in my school atast we always had something going on my body doesn't recover the same way when I get up it's like what are you doing to me why are you up all day long oh price you pay for but you know he heard us I pitched it I didn't even get any feedback yet from him if you have recommendations I'd love to hear them um because I at the C that falls Saturday oh it's a Saturday event where it would be kind of a multiple hours parents can come and go as they please um you know what what I really Envision is even opening up 169 and Bell across the street to create some activities there so just make like a you know yeah but even the outdoor activity is going to be in the bubble so it won't be if it's cold you don't have to worry about it being [Music] soing is everyone ready like if somebody tonight everybody ready I thought it' be nice you know homeing events we got to bring them home beol okay calling business meeting to order 852 uh Grace Torres Joseph Chow is my Alvin Hong Catherine here Shirley here I'm here Bob present John and Shirley awesome okay so couple of different things uh first is regarding our AA process um as most of you have met tonight I think if not everybody um one of our AA candidates that we had Egypt is here um we are in the process of moving forward with her offer and I'm just looking for the paper that I have because I need for us to talk about the resolution that we have to approve um as part of the next steps to get her going so we can hopefully get her in here as quick as possible with us so give me one second so I have the resolution I'm going to read it out to everybody and then we're going to need to just do a roll call vote so whereas CC District 2 requires competent staff to support it in the Fulfillment of its Mission powers and duties and whereas CEC District 25 is authorized by law to appoint supervise evaluate and discharge an administrative assistant and whereas C District 25 has conducted an application and interview process of qualified candidates now therefore be it resolved that CC d25 appoints Egypt Christal to the position of administrative assistant effective on January 8th uh with a salary of 56,800 37 per year upon the successful submission and acceptance of doe required documentation including a check of key background information fingerprint clearance by the division of human resources and a reference check by the council so this resolution will hopefully be adopted tonight once we go through a roll call so I'm going to go through everyone really quick and just need you to say yes no or abstain Shirley Yes Alvin yes Joseph Joe yes Katherine yes John yes Grace yes ismma Bob yes okay and myself okay perfect so I will get this into marel um so that we can move forward this is very exciting for us because it's been a very long year without an administrative assistant so um very much looking forward to this pretty much at this time last year right yeah it was around this time last year where we lost our AA so I'm very excited that we were able to make this happen this year um moving on to other new business we need to take a look first at our budget because we need if we need to make any changes there are some deadlines marille do you want to talk about those deadlines real quick yes and we need a lot of changes to the operating budget can cover several things such as member reimbursements reimbursements are not stien but reimbursements for expenses incurred such as Internet Child Care um expenses as well as supplies um you can purchase Furniture if you need to purchase furniture for an office let's say paper pens folders things like that um refreshment for meetings um things like that and so there are deadlines to your budget lines and there're also deadlines to purchase certain items so all of those are here I've provided them all for you so you can so with what marabelle supplied um she just took a look at what our budget originally was set up as and we had the PE card at 4,500 office supplies at 8,738 member reimbursements at 4,000 and meeting expenses which includes the award ceremony at 7,762 if you look at the papers that you received there are some sample um budgets and one of the biggest things that came from our checkin yesterday with marabel is the member reimbursements and the fact of what really needs to be taken into account um so that people are using these to the best of their ability um there is a copy of those forms there and they're also in the uh booklet that we got when we got elected um but I really want to encourage people to utilize those you're using your internet for things when we're going back and forth with emails you have to have somebody with your children when you're here take advantage of these reimbursements and really look at that if you need help with it let myself know or marabel I her and I spoke about it with a few of us yesterday in depth and I think it's very important um and then once you have filled that out you bring it to me I will sign it for you and then you would submit it to marabel and so I also included up in the packet sample budgets from you know ways you could allocate your lines as well as samples of how to fill out the forms you are entitled to or allowed up to $125 a month um so that would be every month that you are present or it could be for um you put well you always have $75 a month for right either way if you come me or not you're checking emails of the emails um but you can request reimbursements from July through now when as soon as possible okay just because I will have to um so generally the administrative assistant does the reimbursements and submits them but since there is not one now we can back dat soon you know but it will take some time for that proc right um so I'll be the one doing that and it's quite a bit of a backlog so the sooner that I could get and I don't want Egypt to come in and have to do like all of these for Egypt welcome and like that's it it closes it's just it's not hard to do just to enter them um so I would like to just you know kind of get a jump on it so these are the no she's got like on with her and the only thing I would say to you guys too just if because you've allocated the funds there um if you don't take advantage of it just know that by the end of the year if it's not used that those dollars don't don't come back to you the foll it's not a roll over to you in the following year so um it's is around being strategic with the dollars that you have if it's not going to be used for reimbursement for some reason then you have that window to make a choice either to keep it there because you're going to use it or move it so that it can be spent on something else just throwing that out there before you um no that's 100% why so I personally would like to see all members try to take advantage of this um after we had an in-depth conversation about it yesterday I think it's really really crucial that everyone does take as much advantage of it as possible with that being said and the deadlines with the budget stuff we do need to reallocate certain things if we're going to be doing that and looking at our budget office supplies we have over $8,000 I would say we could almost move 5,000 of that right off the bat to member reimbursements to help cover those funds um and we were trying to talk about the award ceremony and what it's cost us in previous years we're trying to get some answers on that because I think even that we might not need 7,000 and looking at some of these sample budgets we could put more towards the member reimbursements because if you look at one of them specifically it looks like $116,000 there is allocated towards member reimbursements for a year and then they broke down everything else um on one of them and then if you look at another one it has try to get to the other page 1500 1500 it broke it down by how much within a year each person would be entitled to and then the president's stuff and then the other stuff like so food special events things like that so I think we really need to look at these numbers and just come up with an idea of where we want to move things so I can repe the budget together and get that over to Elena and marabelle so we have that so I just want thoughts on that because we do have to vote on it once we make a decision like we still have some I have some of it in my garage right now it's very restrict order it and creorder it plus what to get is very restricted we have bags though still we bag bag is good they have it was we have some of those we have lots of those they're maroon I'm like we have lots of those what so what do we have then already and we have to we have to order specific vendor what do we already have I think we do have some we have bags that are sitting in my garage because I have to bring them back here from when we did the beginning of the year C bags like the red CC thank you should we just have bag there some of the bags have water bottles in them and some other random items but I do have at least one box and I believe there's still more here is there not a lot more but there's at least when we do like when they have events they'll have the bag set up and then they become [Laughter] giveaways those red bags have like really I mean we can try has it been done before we did something I would we did I sign up for stuff because I get so keep in keep in mind if we if you do do if if you do have that collaboration during this Wellness event we would really publicize it really heavily so you'll get a lot of families there just to connect with you guys as a cc but something like this event's going to be around March sometime in March yeah okay now I have a question for about that if I remember correctly ordering is very particular I was like ago I had a lot of uh competion with you know a we have to order specific vendor you could I'm just saying you take advantage of the times when you have most the largest amount of people you know when they're there take advantage of it we they you often give things away during any of our events you know the thanks forgiving day walk there were a number of parents there they were always stopping at the CC booth and whatnot so there's opportunities just what you want to give to get people excited about it yeah even the like the the what do you call it they have the the Slime and the kind so let's say we prepare for those products for this event so we're going to try to get a whole bunch of people out this thing the deadline exactly as soon as the key those two weekends are out of question for me killing me I that's what I'm pering is going to be June first week of June I'll be on stage those weekends when is our deadline this is always we had a if it really becomes any comp don't worry about can I yes so there's a deadline to order um I been L the other thing is if we need to get any specific equipment for Egypt for when she get started April 11th is the deadline oh that's good I believe last time was March so we have to like hurry so Lou is like getting specific over here there's two modification deadlines this modification deadline that's coming up now is for furniture and Equipment the next modification is for everything else so if we wanted let's say laptop related items or computer related items for put would be part of the equip March 3 no no no no no no no January that's the first one on theine oh J you got two weeks is me thatch a laptop for she could here at thee so she's probably she has a workstation already I think here right you talking about at home talking about at home no I'm just I don't know what she gets there's a workstation here yeah there's a workstation here right yeah it's like an old prepandemic he said oh then that's gross get something different just what is like with the de vendors what is that range so we know what a like no no there's a website yeah there is I know I know what kind ofter you have some cter they don't have to about we went through that with 193 with PPA and it ended up being more expensive than just by printer it that I don't know how much you're printing yeah it just depends on the type of printer some of them it's yeah and the volume the high volume printers are expensive yeah they're expensive so let's let's for the next video We could decide what product we should M but we need to figure out about this the numbers so we can move some stuff around before the January 15th deadline so especially because I'm going away that day so I want to make sure I get that in before that and specifically for equipment andure see Louis it's a cubicle type setup that we're going to have now right no no she still has the still has the ROP okay to yeah okay the hard drive what does it cost for like something like that just so we know how much to allocate yeah L will pick out the exact ones they give you the famous numbers and then it's just easy just putting it in the system well we have yeah I have to allocate for night because I'm going nextday and I want to make sure I get a vot so can we also we do have to pick if we going to if we're going to bring products like a bag and stuff like for Min we have to order right now too what today's the only window movement data of money funding moving both of them set as soon as possible or St we still have time last day to order okay stop it go away now March so if you want to bring something for event we have to hold it right now nobody's gonna want to come here we can't do Zoom right okay anybody have some thoughts cuz we need to make a decision away next week so we need to decide we have to allocate speciic andice so she has an office she has screens it's the Tower and the laptop that we're talking about when you see Tower what's the tower for the computer it's just the hard drive hard drive part of they have the hard drive we have the we have the um the monitors are already there so basally take milon and you wouldn't just want to and it Go Station as far as you have a laptop you have everything no matter you're here there so I mean doing station type thing like that the Lo that they do they access to they do whether hard drive let me see if I I can get all I can use one of those you [Laughter] know it bych got order right now and if we want to have it so if I put like there i' be okay no well I mean if they want to show us they could show us but the website we ask so it's like it's like this like you so while we're trying to work on shop 2oe yeah mine didn't open so while we're trying to figure out that why don't we talk about how much we want to move from peard about around the way and supplies and meeting expenses towards member reimbursement hello everybody here sorry you talk about reur you talk about the internet your internet and somebody taking care of your child when you're not here I mean when you are here when you're not here I like backwards I'm here but I'm not here [Laughter] exactly well if they weren't here for instance my parents are watching them but they have to commute to get here to watch my children and that's one of the things we were talking about like they're making that commute in order to come babysit they're coming from Brooklyn so there's a big commute in that spot I'm not paying them to babies but I'm paying them to travel kind of thing so that's the kind of things that come up but this money does not stay with us you insist you can as you heard yesterday so I would rather see you guys take advantage of the reimbursements even if you do just your internet you don't want to put into care like I want to see you guys take advantage of something so these are the forms and everyone could um fill them out whatever they would like to um request and I just have to side off for all of you as you do it and Joe you have to side for me is this monthly or monthly right can I just do mon no no if you were the meeting with marabelle you would know the answer to that okay so while she's giving us these forms a Shar my elbows for a reason I didn't want to go to waste so here's my thing the PE card has 4500 a lot based on what we were just talking about I think 4,000 of that could be moved out do everyone everyone hear me sorry I want to go home tonight guys I want to go home tonight please I have two kids in the back okay P card we have 4500 by the time Egypt's assigned and have access to the PE card it's going to be closer to the end of the year I don't think 4500 is even realistic we were talking about Marbel I think bringing it down to even 500 is fair enough so that means we have 4,000 from there that we can then put towards reimbursements which brings that to 8,000 already so now I have a question so for our it comes out from the meaning expenses with that though do we we being that like today I said do we want to have food marel and I talked about it we I sent it out to everyone do is that something you guys would like to see having in the future at other meetings as well I think that'll be great because that's going to go under meeting expenses we need this to still be higher though no no no this supplies can we go in here yeah we can move Supply some of the supply amount to there the supply doesn't fall into our award Serv then we should move it to the hold on so for member reimbursements so technically for member reimbursements tre's already dead to be allocated if we had every seat taken we would need 5700 from what I'm looking at marabel does that sound about right to you because I use this as like a line item one to calculate that and that's with 12 people we don't have a full 12 person counil so we don't need I feel like I'm talking to myself no no no we're listen guys can we get this done I need to get this submitted for next week so I want to get numbers so how much I think if we move the 4,000 from the PE card from the 4500 down to 500 move that 4,000 to member reimbursements that more than covers everybody and then we move some of the supplies at office that's at 8700 maybe Tak three of that towards Med expense three or four towards expenses didn't we just figure out office supplies will be like two grand so like but if we need paper for meetings where she making copies things like that or folders or pens things like that it goes under that I thought Dr Mike so this is our budget currently for this year I'm reading it off of that I'm reading off of what we currently have and then these are samples do we Curr so right now the P card has 4500 no no our seron goes with the meeting expens so second one is the supplies but the peak card being at 4500 is way too high based on when she's going to get access to it only the AA will have access M reimbursement is 4000 right now supp is 873 gas where's the second page member reimbursement is 4,000 4,000 right now and meeting is I don't even know how we came up with these weird numbers of theile that's a total 4,000 that we have allocated there but if we usually typically what my experience was you have the second page right yeah I don't have that one I only got the first I'm not going home tonight here and we're going have to more so here four for you I can make cof honestly if I take one I can just make cof yeah this way everyone can get that means yeah I'll take like two and then give people how many no I think I mean member reimbursements it's available for regular members 175 a month 125 125 right and then 200 for president you said 200 towards the president I have so many and 1 two three four five six 78 9 10 right Charlie are you hearing that you get the 75 at least for the internet reimbursements right but it could also be you're using internet to do stuff when we're emailing things internet can only be 75 um other receipts yeah yeah and the rest towards the child care basically or like mileage or whatever else you put it under but I'm sorry silly question I will fill out mine but I'm going to have to get your sign at the next meeting or meet up with you and then you guys will have to bring it to the next meeting for me to sign so this is where you're going put your um a now so you're not going bring your Verizon this is your basically does have enough certain things we have make copies receipt that and then this is what my question so this is what you're asking one of the receip basically gotcha okay okay so let's get back to where we're at cuz I want to get done tonight what SE keep hitting me okay separate from him then thank you I don't hear about them hitting each other sit down for a minute like sit down Joe every mon I'm not sure we have more but okay so if I could just just say say this if you're going to try to organize around the budget first and foremost if you're going to allocate funds one you need to know how many amongst you are going to take advantage of if it's the internet fine if it's if it's going to be around whatever the the other reimbursements are just so that you're allocating the appropriate amount of money if you put too much you're going to wind up wasting potentially thousands of dollars so first and foremost I I would say reflect on each of you individually if you don't intend on taking advantage of it then you should kind of call that out if you intend on taking advantage of it so that you that way you can at least calculate the amount of funds that you need so you're not going over you're not going under if if the goal is that you take advantage of it which honestly you guys give a lot of time and effort you know so but in order to really calculate this and then decide on other money you need to know who's going to do what many 10 members throwing that out there 75 that she's allocated seem like a lot of time no so figure okay so let's start with the first thing the PE card we are going to move some money from the PE card yes I'm recommending we move it down to 500 from 4,000 before we go to a vote so I'm going to write this down so we can kind of get through this purchasing credit C purchasing card it's like a credit card supplies we can't get on purchase doe when does it get replenished but like I'm trying to come up with a number so we know what to move around what does what get replenished Mone yeah so every yeah every every July is when the the new fiscal school year for the fiscal year for the school starts July one yeah okay so basically who's planning to take advantage of the reimbursements going forward I'll take it I didn't hear the question who's going to take advantage of your reimbursements you should you and as a friendly reminder whatever money is not used from this $25,000 is gone I don't know where it's not rolled over I need to just like write it down I don't so I Cal no he paid cash for that was in his drawer we have eight MERS he left $2,000 in this drawer m00 yes and 75 * 12 and then um if you add it all that's what so okay so Charley actually just did the math no thank you okay so everybody pay before you fill out forms and everything just listen for a second because otherwise we're not going to get done tonight that 4,000 that we're taking away from the PE card I'm saying that we should move that towards reimbursements which will bring that to 8,000 but we really need to get if let's say everyone's going to take the full amount we need to get to 15,250 so that's why I'm asking is everybody going to take advantage of the not because I want to make sure we allocate the right amount there full amount 125 per person per month that's the full amount $200 [Music] for7 presume it's a little bit Ming can I just share something maybe that help um you should you can make these moves but don't be too worried about the supplies um do cuz you could still adjust that later but the most important and we need to get this up I know 8,000 so let's say we take the like that today was approximately what1 okay I'm aware so today for instance let's say with the pizza and everything and drinks it was about 110 so if we want to move forward with having food and stuff like that that's going to go under meeing expenses um and we have how many months left only five six six five five five okay and then we need to so that goes under meeting expenses don't bother me right now Emily I'm doing math of people so we please stop we need about 14 okay so we need to end up with about 14 in member reimbursement based on time of year where people came on and everything like that so I think at that point right now member reimbursements at 4 we add the 4,000 from the PE card is at eight we can then take probably I would say save like keep it there to play it safe maybe take out like 2500 from that and then a little bit from here but we only have six months left we're not going to spend all that 8,000 just to clarify marabel they really only need to to get the money that really needs to be moved tonight is just for the devices so you still have time so we need it in the yeah so you really need to the money that really needs to be locked up today is how much and Lou is going to tell you how much it costs for those devices now the other dollars you g it gives you a little bit of time to reflect on what you're going to to wind up allocating where you're going to allocate those other funds because you still have a window to move that before the the the um so we don't necessarily need you can't anymore which is in March so we don't need to move anything per se now because it's in that supply line right now but I'm trying trying to say Emily stop calling me that we should try to if we're going to start submitting the reimbursement forms we need to have the money in that line item so that it come out of there so that's why I'm trying to think of us moving that now so yeah even if that's there you'll have enough to cover whatever is up until this point and then you can move whatever else after that just to give you a little bit more time so you don't feel like you're so rushed okay to make all the choices now so I'll send out this breakdown to everybody via email give me your thoughts on what you thought would think should be moved other than obviously moving the PE card money the 4,000 to reimbursements and then at the next meeting we can vote on it so we can subit it just vo on the elect well that we could we don't need to change it because we have more than enough in it so there's an equipment line you have to move it from supplies into an equipment line okay so so what's the number 1,77 so should we round up to like 1,00 to play it safe, 1800 exactly exactly then you're going to waste few that I found the okay go away I'm really getting annoyed please I'm trying to do a meeting yeah he'll have whatever it is that she needs L is like our techie Guru guy okay so Sean's calling me excuse me I'm running a meeting please walk away Sean's doing it Sean stop I need to see my phone right now I'm getting very frustrated with my children I'm sorry they are so we need to move $1,777 98 C from office supplies so that would [Music] be no we're going to use that for towards the reimbursement at some point bringing it down to 6,960 so why don't you leave 2,000 over here and then rest of it moov it cuz from the left everything what other supplies do except the paper but she also has 500 to use for the paper to sometimes they could use it okay that makes sense okay so we're going to move if everyone agrees we'll go through a quick vote we're going to do it like this so uh cuz I want let me just I need to see this in front of me so I apologize we already calculated yes you're good um we did all that math so we're GNA move the 1777 98 to an equipment line item which brings the office supplies down to 6,962 but I think but we really only need let's say 2, even 2500 there so we could move that to either expenses or reimbursements for now and then play around with it if we need he's telling us the exact he just checked the exacts for us for a tower and a laptop yes yeah so for now I just want to vote to without us moving anything else because I'll send all this out VI email the rest of it if we could take a vote to move that $1,777 .98 from supplies line to an equipment line so that we can start making sure we have it allocated to get equipment for Egypt so I'm going to go around just need a yes or no on that so I could do that and then once we have that I'll send out a breakdown to everybody and I'll get that over to Elena and marabel so I'm going to go through the roll call real quick and we'll go from there Grace Joe Yes ismot Alvin yes Katherine Shirley yes Bob yes John yes Charley me yes okay so I will send you the updates I'll send you Elena the updates congratulations okay key card now too I'm going to set the breakdown so we can vote on it at the next meeting cuz it's it's a bunch of stuff that's going to move with it so it'll be easier the other um thing I had hold on the fair student funding we talked about we're going to have next we need to talk about sea really quick and come up with a decision because I have to submit that by next Friday I vote for every school did anybody have any specific schools that have stood out to them that they wanted to not from this well for me was it's that packet that I do you want this you want that because of theing for 189 I'll scan it in okay I have yeah not this Friday next Friday I don't walk away from me walk awaye I need to get through SCA improvements otherwise we can't end the meeting anybody have specific schools I have specific schools I have PS 193 I have ps24 and I have4 they all have problem okay so 193 I know we know part of the situation is being resolved but that's only two bathrooms right so doesn't they still need to go for the rest of their bathroom so they're on the list as far as I'm concerned um looking at what I was looking at and also knowing what schools we submitted last year 154 had masonry issues and heating plant upgrades that needed to be done which is obviously a big issue it includes like full roof replacement things like that so it's a very high priority and it was submitted last year didn't get anything anywhere I don't know if we know why we could research it I personally would like to see them submitted again because I think that's a very large project that's one that I came up with um I'm going to go through everyone I do think that 242 has a valid thing with capping and peeling of Windows and needing that replacement that was something that stood out to me um I'm just going through the ones that I was looking at John bound ps20 the gates around the playground for safety issues I think that is something important and then I had 193 here it's one of mine and then the other one that I had also was 214 and their camera system because they don't seem to have it yet and I know safety is a big thing those were the ones that I kind of looked at but I want everyone's input but those are the ones that have stood out to make those are the ones that I'm that I personally was looking this do school generally have cameras our school does many of them do is it all yet no it's not all but many many of them do many of the it's going to be it would be like more so based on that survey i' rather School sa monitoring and admin they didn't submit again for no they good no the's he didn't submit it because he was on our list in the past team because of you and you didn't do it do it um but yeah so last year 193 was on our list 21's Auditorium was on the list 107's boiler was on the list but they didn't submit again so yeah and let me just just quickly so there's there's a difference between upgrading air conditioning and something that they're going to identify as an area that is being being identified because their bcast level is a five so the bcast level of a five is an indicator that it is an immediate need so things that you'll see typically roof repairs if the roof is falling apart they're going to make sure that they emphasize that can we check the reports for these schs because that would determine what priority they will actually be with yeah if they don't have a shot put a different School the school that does have then I think it's like how high school right so usually in the process that is a a one of the primary indicators for whether or not it gets recommended by cc is look at the bcast report to see if whether or not that area is something that's been classified by an external reviewer they go in and they review the buildings that's how they get identified as a 1 two 3 4 or five in any area so if someone comes in that's been I I don't know if it's their internal Personnel they contract out I'm not that I'm not 100% sure but they send people to survey the schools to to check the exterior to check what's going on in major scenarios like boiler electrif all of that stuff and then they will classify it as this is in serious need or it's a need but not necessarily as a priority can we che where stand number four number five we have to go through each survey right now on the computer we'd have to pull them up each one of them would have to be and we might be here till 11 o' tonight priority right we have to give five schools okay so we start writing them down so I'm totally I does anybody disagree with 193 because I know that that's been something for a few years now I think it's even before I was on the council I know they had submitted the year before I'm saying we put 193 okay and no and you go to the vcast and it's number two you've wasted that spot and there might be another school here that doesn't have bathroom problems according to the it's on number five you have a better chance of getting approved are you looking at ours does that make sense he's looking at it right now because you don't want to wait we didn't I don't think we knew that we had to look at the B and that's we just found out I'm saying we use that information what other ones have bathrooms that you're looking at in front of you and 193 and 24 they're all bathro all the bathro original the building now what did you learn about bathroom like it is but it isn't but them sea that's where like because that's my biggest like I feel like are we wasting so um those that I I'm not entirely comfortable with with actually responding to that in full because awkward question know I don't have all of the details yet um you know again after hearing it from you I started engaging them to figure out what was going on um and you know there is a a communication space between where it started and where it is now that I have to get to the bottom of to give you a better answer than what I'm giving you I do know that there is an allocation there um it's just how it gets purchase ordered whether or not how that's been organized I have to continue to dig on that okay so for now those three bathroom ones it's 19324 2114 21 Auditorium was submitted last year I think it's important to resubmit again sur's got pictures of what it looks like it it's not pleasant I support and the other one that was submitted last year that I think needs to stay on there as the fifth one would be 154 with the masonry roof issues that does anybody have anything different or any other opinions there 22 I said 21 for the 22 what was 22 go back to it1 yeah 21 21 I have 22 was Auditorium oh asbest it's an asbest issue in the auditorium that's a but that's like a that's a law they don't have it it's not a choice I think we tried anything that's an issue with thebest they mediate immediately they don't they don't so then it doesn't necessarily need to be which one is that 22 best it's in the floor tiles I know I'm trying to get done we have to make a vote on this though why no why we make this simple give the five proposals that we had and just give them let it let it go back to the but we have to decide our five that's what we're trying to finally decide you have the five already five from last year no cuz not all of them submitted again this year that's the issue is not some of the some of these schools did not resubmit again that's what I was saying so 193 did 21 did 154 did 107 did not submit again and 184 did not submit for the same issue so three out of five yeah and I have 193 I have 21 and I have 154 on here so 22 shouldn't be on there then you're saying because it's festish should be right away this is saying if they were to lift lift the tiles it's right any spaces in a building may have things behind the walls it's like yeah but we don't know unless they did it so I think we could leave that off say again 22 I mean so I'm gonna don't touch that I'm gon to read off the schools and then we're going to do a quick roll call vote because I want to get done for tonight 193 is a bathroom issue 24 is a bathroom issue 214 is is the bathroom 21 is the auditorium 154 is the masonry going go around take a quick vote Yes No so I can get this submitted Katherine yes yes yes ISAT Grace yes Joe yes Bob yes John yes yes okay yes for me okay so I will get this submitted for us John B is priority four so they have a shot they have definitely okay and in here righten okay um anybody have any other as I lose things coming out of my sides over here I don't know what's going on anymore tonight I'm coming kind of delirious at this point any other new business no sorry I feel a little delirious now I didn't sleep much last night anybody want to make a motion to adjourn motion to adjourn second second thank you good night 9:42 oh my God I'm like please I need time to fill mine out Joe I'll bring them to you at the next meeting or I'll meet up with you one day email to yeah if you want to scan them to me I'll sign them and then I can get it back I have a scanner printer at home so thanks no worries did you do every month the only
