Any of the shorts, we're putting, like, on the shortlist. I did the novels like that. We'll do, like, the novels.

38
00:30:54.095 --> 00:31:33.595
And, also, if you're patient, I'm starting to take the initiative to, Google Classroom to maybe do some videos, like, some different stories asynchronously. You can can see at their own pace on Google Classroom. I know there's a lot of things to do. We're expanding big time and Yeah. House utilities are a little bit depressed. Okay. Well, thank you so much. Share this out. Okay, Matthew? Thank you. Yeah. Yeah. That's good. Hi. My name is Kayla Schreiner Khan. I'm a p s one twenty two parent for the greater and the incoming kindergartner.

39
00:31:34.375 --> 00:32:10.430
On May 21, p s one twenty two held our PTO election. By, along with about 100 parents, participated. Votes were counted that night, and winners were announced. Almost two weeks later on June 2, our community learned for the first time that agreements have been filed, sustained, the election results have been overturned, and The new election was scheduled for 02/18. The following day, we learned the grievance was sustained based on improper valid distribution and improper voter verification. I wanna be clear. Election procedures matter. If mistakes were made, they should be reviewed and corrected.

40
00:32:10.890 --> 00:32:44.270
What I am questioning is whether the process used to overturn this election met that same standard. I understand that the grievance was filed the same night as the election. Given that timing, I believe families deserve to understand what information was reviewed before invalidating the result. I'm sharing this tonight because I have been unable to get through to the district directly. Despite reaching out to the district multiple times, I still do not know what evidence for this decision or was consulted or how this conclusion was reached. This lack of transparency has impacted my trust in the system.

41
00:32:45.130 --> 00:33:27.565
There is an appeal being investigated, and I am hopeful that it would be granted on the election results restored. However, if the original decision is upheld, then at a minimum, I am still asking for the evidence supporting that decision and for any replacement election to be administered with independent oversight to restore confidence in the process. H. Good evening. My name is Sujan Roberts, and I'm a parent at PSO according to it. I am one of the parents who voted in the PS one twenty two PTO election. Since we learned that the election was overturned, we have received insufficient information about why.

42
00:33:27.705 --> 00:34:04.630
Despite outreach to district thirty face, CDC, and superintendent Hidalgo, we are no closer to understanding how this decision was made and have been left to reconstruct what happened without insight from the district. We have heard that a person from CEC may have attended our election and been involved in the formation of grievances. We would like an investigation into this behavior. These allegations have shown distrust and raised real questions. Was there a formal request to the CEC? By whom? Why was the PTO board or nominating committee not informed? If other PTO elections are not monitored by the CEC,

43
00:34:04.770 --> 00:34:41.720
why the excessive scrutiny here? If this CEC member acted independently to insert themselves in our election, they should recuse themselves, and the CEC should elevate this matter above the district level. We have also learned that the nominating committee and the school principal, the very people who are overseeing the election, were not contacted as part of the district's investigation. Ultimately, an election involving about 100 voters was overturned, but allegations of interference by a district thirty representative, no contact with the people in charge, and no evidence shared with our community. I'm not accusing anyone of wrongdoing.

44
00:34:42.100 --> 00:35:23.435
I'm simply saying that when a decision of this consequence is made without transparency, this district must demonstrate that it was impartial and must communicate with voters about the process. Many PS one twenty two families do not trust the replacement election scheduled by the district. I am asking for three things, to reinstate the original election results, to to provide evidence that justified overturning them, and if a new election must be held, have it run by an independent party, not District 30, given the breach of list. Thank you. Thank you. One second. Okay. Ready.

45
00:35:25.015 --> 00:35:58.705
Good evening. My name is Danielle Garcia. I'm the son of a post on PS one twenty two. From the outside, this may have appeared to be a typical PTO election. For many families, it represented something much deeper. I served as an elected PTO board for one year as co recording secretary and I remained an engaged parent before and after my term. You're deeply about building community, encouraging parent involvement, and creating opportunities for families to contribute their talent. Last year, I had the privilege of leading our Centennial Carnival celebration. They're planning volunteer coordination, fundraising, and family engagement.

46
00:35:59.090 --> 00:36:37.320
We've honored for you together and created an event that reflected what our school can achieve when people work collaboratively. Like many parents, I balance my commitment to the school with work and family responsibilities. Meaningful participation requires communication, transparency, and adequate notice so parents can get involved. Like many on on 05/21/2026, many parents came to vote with good faith and witnessed what appeared to be a clear election result. When the result later was set aside, families were left without an explanation they could fully understand or evaluate. I sincerely hope what occurred was not an effort to overturn a fair election and

47
00:36:37.320 --> 00:37:14.305
go against a new leadership team that have been decided by the votes. If it was, it would represent a serious breach of trust with the families who participated because they believe that their voices matter. Since then, conversations at the school within the parent community have reflected growing confusion and distrust. Parent participation is one of the foundations of a strong school community. When families feel their voices cannot be disturbed, it's not a clear explanation. Many just stop participating. Ultimately, that affects every child. I'm not here because of a lost election. I'm here because I believe processes that govern our school community should be meaningful,

48
00:37:14.365 --> 00:37:57.590
transparent, and trustworthy. Right now, many of our families at PS one twenty two do not feel that way. You have the power to restore the trust in our school. Therefore, I respectfully ask you reinstate the election results, provide evidence and rationale to overturn those results, and ensure that the future election is administrated by an independent party outside of the security. Thank you. My name is Allison Damien. I'm also a p s one twenty two parent, so I will stick over to planning what happened, and just say it's a really big deal to overturn an election, especially when the community feels that they participated in barely.

49
00:37:57.730 --> 00:38:30.700
Families are really upset, and there is a lot of tension and a lot of press between the school, the administration, the PTO, and with district attorney leadership. The regulations exist to protect the integrity of the process, and it requires and I've read it a bunch of times now. It requires a decision with reasoning and a material violation, one capable of changing the outcome before an election can be used for careers. Community has not been told how many ballots were impacted, whether any votes were terminated ballot, how many of these issues raised related to the margin of each rate.

50
00:38:31.265 --> 00:39:08.535
Without transparent information, parents cannot trust the decision is fair and that those who we are to put through 500. Today, I spoke to someone in the face office, and they confirmed that there's issues in your head. It's almost a full week after since we're trying with a two sentence email from our fundable. And just they also confirmed that this matter had the attention of the GM player. I'm seeing the CEC to help our community rebuild trust by pushing for a transparent process. And, again, the usual administrator, I think, is really important. And I would like to be easy and consider whether what has happened here meets

51
00:39:08.535 --> 00:39:50.040
the standards with accountability our community deserves. Rust can be rebuilt and really care that that happens for our community. We We want to see the right thing about it, and I just want us to hold ourselves to the standard view of that because it isn't our schools. Thank you. It's okay. It'll find you. It's I paid. Do you understand? I apologize. I should've told all y'all that. It'll find you. No. No. It'll find you. Hi. My name is Crystal. I'm a parent of a four k student, an incoming three k student. And in the last couple of years, I've become increasingly more worried about our use of edtech and screens as well.

52
00:39:50.040 --> 00:40:22.540
And I'm a physician in the science, so when I need information, I go to medical office. And there's overwhelming evidence that screens are a poor replacement for physical books, paper and pencil use, and really hand that'll work, especially for young kids. In fact, researchers call it the screen inferiority effect. As screen based learning leads to lower retention, comprehension, and language development, and the research is really extensive and yet I have seen and heard of many kids in our district that are being read to my screens and given one to one devices before they even know how to type.

53
00:40:23.495 --> 00:40:59.075
Now this is not a criticism of teachers. I think many would agree with what I'm saying. No. But I wanna highlight something great that's happening in the school system. So I'll find a lot for us to do this. District six in Upper Manhattan, I did for me great a couple of weeks ago. They implemented a district wide screen break link. Elementary middle school. Slogan was unplugged to reconnect. It was a very frustrating one. So they reduced screen use in in almost all their schools, not adaptive technology. They did paper and pencil work, and the community really rallied that. Like, read alouds, all these communities. I just want out there.

54
00:40:59.075 --> 00:41:32.780
It's amazing community. So asking the district to do three things. District, let's do a screen break week next year. We can do as many as you'd like. I'm happy to organize with you. Please demand more paper and textile based curriculum options for our schools. Now I learned that our system is in fact the only customer for some of these vendors. Okay? So demand better. Yes. I strongly support Revolution two zero eight. I am not a type one AI, but we do not have data that this is safe and effective learning tool for our kids.

55
00:41:33.000 --> 00:42:25.290
Thank you. I appreciate it. You're welcome. Do we have any other participants in the room, like, to speak? We're gonna go to the Zoom room, and then we have some responses. Alright. If you are in the Zoom room, please raise your hand, and we will call you and promote you to panelists. If you speak English, you have two minutes. If you need interpretation, you will have four minutes to speak. I don't see any attendees in the Zoom room. Okay. I do see one hand raised. Okay. Jacqueline Daley, please accept the promotion to panelists. Okay. You can unmute yourself and start. Good evening. My name is Jacqueline.

56
00:42:25.290 --> 00:43:02.600
I have lived in Long Island City for ten twelve years. My daughter is supposed to start kindergarten this fall. In June 2025, I spoke at a CEC meeting demanding more physical seats for our children. Instead, because the system is completely failed to plan for our neighborhood's growth, my daughter has since been given a spot across the river in Manhattan. We can get a seat in another borough, but we are facing near triple digit wait list just to get a desk where we live. As a zone family, she is currently sitting at number 63 for P S 384 and number 98 for

57
00:43:02.600 --> 00:43:39.235
P S 78. We know there's a massive seat deficit across District 30. We know this district has been get allocated more funding for new seats than anywhere else in New York City. The office of district planning is here tonight to discuss the long term rezoning lines for the upcoming school years. Shuffling the zoning lines on a map while our kids have nowhere to sit right now is like shuffling decks deck chairs on the Titanic. As you present these future plans tonight, we need immediate answers on the following things.

58
00:43:40.015 --> 00:44:15.755
Displaced student protections. Any upcoming proposal must include formal priority reentry clause. If we are forced out of the neighborhood this year because of mathematical seat deficits, we need a prioritized pathway back into our local schools the second space opens up. Sibling priority clarity. We need a transparent breakdown of the wait list hierarchy. When the school hits the legal limit? Where do you exactly do unzoned siblings rent against local and zone applicants?

59
00:44:16.695 --> 00:44:58.140
We need block by block birthright data and clear priority examples. Our kids are not numbers on a spreadsheet. Last month, I attended the meeting hosted by borough president and asked a direct question to the school construction authority and was told I would receive a follow-up email with my answer. I still have heard absolutely nothing. We deserve real answers, and we deserve guaranteed seats in the community where our children live. Thank you. Thank you. For Dan, I'm gonna promote you to panelist. You can unmute yourself and turn your camera on.

60
00:45:22.310 --> 00:46:10.660
Hello? Yeah. We can hear you. Oh, okay. Sorry. I was unprepared. I'm I'm Georgiana Costa. I'm a parent of a child in, intermediate school 30. We recently found out that, the after school that my child and many of the kids in in our after school has been is going to be appended and, replaced by another agency. And we're trying to, basically, fight. We feel it's very unfair. This was a decision that was made with no consulting of the parents.

61
00:46:12.880 --> 00:46:53.635
The school staff is very happy with the after school program that we have currently as are the children, program that has been in our school for many years, including the other district 30 schools that have that are losing their program. I I I'm aware that over 80% of the schools with after school programs maintain their programs, but, it feels very unfair. These are programs that have been nurturing to the kids. They have established relationships with their,

62
00:46:55.075 --> 00:47:56.005
counselors and the directors. The, the programs help them academically. The programs help them socially. And I don't know if it was a monetary. I mean, of course, it was. The incentive that caused these changes, it it it feels extremely unfair. I don't know why our school is one of the schools that was chosen to be replaced, with the after school program, but I believe most of us are upset. Thank you. Thank you. Yes. Okay. Now the phase are you're gonna be our last comment. We've passed our fifteen minute time. I'm promoting the panelists.

63
00:47:56.005 --> 00:48:45.385
You can unmute yourself and turn on the camera if you'd like. Hi. I am one of the parents at IS two thirty. I too have two children there that are part of the after school program with the Hispanic Coalition support. And, honestly, this has been a program that has been very helpful, has done so much for these students. My children as it is were two students in particular that had a difficulty coming into the school, had a hard time making friends. They suffered a lot of bullying. And I'm gonna be completely honest with you.

64
00:48:45.605 --> 00:49:19.375
This program helped my kids so much. They are thriving. They are doing so much better, speaking with other kids, joining other programs. As a matter of fact, Olga, the site coordinator at their school, actually helped us through the Hispanic Coalition find outside counseling for them, which they are a part of and has helped them develop, become so much smarter, so much more into the school. They are a part of the community now, something that they refuse to do. They were always at home. They never wanted to do anything. But this program, like, the sports, the enrichment,

65
00:49:19.980 --> 00:50:25.000
they're always taking them out, encouraging them to do so much better. It's such a shame for the kids continuing the school year to start losing that program. If there is anything you can do, anything we can do to support this program, I would really, really appreciate it. Thank you. Thank you. So I would like to there's been many comments there. The first thing I wanna say is to 122, I did invite base, here so that they can give you some real time clarification. I know, from all the emails that have been sent that many,

66
00:50:25.540 --> 00:51:08.720
just I know that, you know, trust is important. That's part of our core values. So, of course, we don't want you to feel that way. So since I wasn't there, I I don't know exactly what happened. I know Vanda and I was there, and we do have a a member of how was not there. I was just knowing is that in this You were part of the when they the way Yes. We were. When they were in when everything were loading, yes. You were. So I just I want everyone to try to get as real time facts than you can with with Motto here.

67
00:51:09.340 --> 00:51:45.670
So thank you, Motto, so much for coming and being a part of this, because it's important to me that your community feels supported. And I know that right now you're not feeling that way, especially, probably that you're not gonna get the the result that you want. Right? But moving forward, we do wanna work together. And I know that many emails came at all hours of the night, midnight hours, weekends. They were all coming in, and we were we're responding. Just know that this is PTO. This is this has nothing to do with the principal. Principal shouldn't doesn't even have to be involved.

68
00:51:46.050 --> 00:52:21.965
This has to do with PTA. Right? And the members, maybe, if you wanted to get some members of the school from the SLT to be a part of this, that's how it happens. The administration has nothing to do with this. He sent an email out of the goodness of his heart. He he originally sent one, I I hear, from two sentences, but then there was another one that went out that gave more explanation. But sometimes when we're angry, we don't see, you know, we don't see the trees in the forest, but I want us just to breathe and and, Mauro, if you would answer any of the questions that we have,

69
00:52:21.965 --> 00:53:56.355
or are you familiar with the are you familiar with the process? Please connect to my Blue Chip over channels, and suddenly, I work. Not really into these conversations. So I don't know exactly. Oh, yeah. I know it. Tomorrow, you don't have to come to the I'm sorry. Right. It's about to come. Does anybody have a Oh, I don't really. No. Yep. Alright. Alright. I don't talk to a screen. We got a lot of people there. This time. And just somebody called me. Okay. So, you know what? I wouldn't come. But, Mato, maybe you can explain the process.

70
00:53:56.355 --> 00:54:37.780
So think about the question there. One of the things that they're saying is that process happens Yep. Which was briefed. Yes. Now so they're they're they're saying that the PTO committee should have been notified, and then the family should have been notified. Everybody was notified at the same time. So if you will The old email from the I'm not. Well, I know that nobody's checking because I'm I'm in charge of the call. So I'm just curious how, like, how there could be a material

71
00:54:43.285 --> 00:55:20.395
help? Any improper voter verification. So I don't know anything about anything, but I do so just by what that sounds to me, improper balance distribution, it happened in the moment while it was being distributed. Right? And then improper voter verification. Yes. So people that are voting, whoever was didn't truly find out that, Mara, you were parent at the school and you can you vote? So a balance we're given out Question. How can how how checking?

72
00:55:20.455 --> 00:55:56.240
How can you know? Mhmm. And Right. If the merchant is on the boat, I we think that there's two people who weren't supposed to share. But they were supposed to go. Yeah. But what she's saying is how how how is this in there? Yeah. Like, I was in the. Yeah. Yeah. I'll let the room for a second. Sorry. I feel like I missed some of the conversations. Yeah. We're not. Apologies. I don't appreciate it. You know that nobody So how are you like, how did you come to the concierge channel? What evidence do you have? Well, do you have a comment? I don't know if you were there. Yeah. We're here.

73
00:55:56.300 --> 00:56:29.140
Not not here yet. No. Here. Let's see. Yeah. Yeah. Decision made. For an There's no clinician in terms of evidence. It would just be notified to the school. Right. And that was it. And, probably, we do know that the principal is not responsible, but the way that communication went out didn't do anybody any favors that should look like it would ever get. Right. Right. So, like, we've had, like, kinda mixed up or missed up here, and it has created, I think, a lot. And and that's understandable. And that's, like but I do and I apologize for leaving the room. My laptop was about to die.

74
00:56:29.140 --> 00:57:02.880
That's but at Murphy's Law, whatever it is, that's been happening to me today. So I apologize for that. And I feel like I missed the beginning of some of the conversation, and I don't want to overstep. But I do wanna address some of the things that were made and some of the comments earlier. So, I am the co president. Victoria is my co president. Victoria also serves on my president's council. So she was there in her president council capacity and not seized. And for me to be fully transparent in this moment and I I do understand, you know, you all don't have any information. You aren't given any information, and you are trying to piece together what happened.

75
00:57:03.180 --> 00:57:37.955
Totally understand that. It's understandable. But Victoria was there in her capacity as president's counsel. And in full transparency in this moment, no one on CEC we do not get involved with PTA elections, PA elections. Like, we don't get involved in that. And especially for this school, if I may be fully transparent, I filed a d two ten against one of the individuals when we served on CEC together. So I would not ever go out of my way to do anything untoward for someone that I had to file a d two ten about, and I really wish FACE would do something about that.

76
00:57:38.735 --> 00:58:14.950
So, that that's really what I have to say. I know that FACE is investigating it now at this moment. Victoria and I are going to file a FOIA request to get the same information that you are asking for because, again, we are here serving this capacity for the entire district, and we are just, you know, upset because we don't want trust to erode in any of these institutions. Because in our district, let's be honest, District 30 is a district of haves and have nots. And sometimes PTAs, PAs, and, you know, you all have a PTO, they fill the gap on a lot of the needs we have in our district,

77
00:58:14.950 --> 00:58:48.440
and they are only powered by parent participation and parent trust. So we would never do anything to erode that trust. And we're here now. We're glad you came to our meeting. Please come to more because we need more parents to be involved. We actually have a vacancy. But you know someone that wants to apply. I'm trying to go ahead and help the And you don't have to yeah. And We help. Yeah. And, yep, at the district level, that is what we're doing. But, again, I I have I have had to say that because, again, yes, we all serve in multiple parent leader roles,

78
00:58:48.440 --> 00:59:26.585
but what I can say is, you know, I was not there at the election. I know Victoria was there in her capacity as pres you know, on president's counsel. The investigation happened at the district level. I don't know what happened with that investigation. We are requesting to see the information as well, you know, what was used to make a determination. Morrow is here from face. He is saying that they are now intervening to make sure that it is an impartial party that will be taking everything going forward. They are investigating to maintain or sustain the decision that was made or overturn it. And instate the void the vote the vote of the parents at the school.

79
00:59:26.585 --> 00:59:58.075
That is where we are now. And, again, I'm sorry if I left a little earlier, but, my back turned the one die and apologize for that. But we have read the emails. We heard them. We just didn't wanna dismiss you all. We don't want you to feel dismissed, but we also didn't wanna answer anything without hearing from the authority making body, which is FACE now because it has been escalated to FACE. Mauro is our liaison. He works in central. So I hope that helped a little bit. I'm a let y'all get back to it, but I did wanna add that and then Victoria said,

80
00:59:58.075 --> 01:00:33.565
I just wanna clear my name completely from what you were alluding to from the team, maybe because I was the only team member that was present there. My son comes to me comes with me to all these meetings. I would never model that behavior to him and try to interject in your election. I'm a PTA president, and it means the world to me. So I I wouldn't so I want you guys to know that first and foremost. Secondly, in hearing about the distrust that you have in the process, there is no d 30 phase. There's just a phase, just so you know, like, generally for all of the NYC. And she has no jurisdiction, neither do we. But because we heard that there was a lack of trust in the process,

81
01:00:34.240 --> 01:01:05.880
we met on Friday. And I personally left and said, I think it would be best if none of us are involved at all so that it can be a fair process like you guys are requesting. Because we do wanna restore that faith and that trust in the process. Mhmm. So whether the appeal goes through, whether it doesn't, real, whatever, what have you, I heard you loud and clear. I understand that you guys are going through it right now. There's a lack of of trust, and I wouldn't want that in my school. I've had that in my school. It has broken me down. I wouldn't want that for you guys. So please believe that I had nothing to do I didn't file a grievance. I didn't do any of that.

82
01:01:05.880 --> 01:01:39.950
I was press I was at I was at five PTA elections that week alone with my kid. Five. Because I've been hearing that so these aren't run correctly. PTA election notices aren't going out. So I just wanna make sure that everything is being run as equitable as possible because if there's a issue, then I can bring that to her so then we can kind of so I just want to put that in, like, get my name clear that I denied to death. I did not apologize. I didn't do anything great. I'm ready to say that. One question. When we get to the end of this process, we need the one to learn about what evidence led to overturning our election.

83
01:01:40.330 --> 01:02:29.375
That is I think at the core, what we're really asking for. But it really looks like to us right now is that the rug just got pulled pulled up. And that's understandable. In the rear by rear Yeah. All set. We were starting to plan for next year already. Mhmm. And then all of a sudden, everything's out. Are we going to get on? I gave you my work. And that's if it's gonna be sustained, overturned, whatever. Okay. I have questions. Yeah. Literally. He's not a racist. Maybe that's it would be better to be more thoughtful for the process of doing it or to highlight your nervous feelings. But I would just I would love if you guys were

84
01:02:33.030 --> 01:03:08.840
My because I think that I can Just keep in mind also that and I'm and I take this respectfully. Right? So everyone everyone has a job. Right? So But you're just Yes. I understand, though. K. So everybody has jobs. So we manage doing their thing. We go and find out about it to the fact. We don't find out necessarily during while it's happening. You find out I found out to the fact how things have happened, like, the females. Now I'm I'm finding out.

85
01:03:09.060 --> 01:03:54.835
So do you understand what I'm trying to say? But so that is so it it's it's not that we're not where we come aware later because I'm in school. Everybody's doing their data issues. So everybody so just know that the minute we find out of it, we wanna make sure that the right thing. I Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We have part this time. Do you have a question to come in? And my my curiosity happened the current election that only happened in two weeks.

86
01:03:54.835 --> 01:04:27.785
Right? One week, a week and a half? Well, that's if the grievance is sustained and Correct. If if those all those families who showed up, I already know for a fact at least 10, if not more, to not make arrangements again to come out and vote. Do those people get their vote to stand? And whoever else I would love thousands of people to come to our country. I don't think they're that shattering, but I do support community involvement. And I do think that, like, there will be a lot of new faces now that we have all this hype about the election. It's gonna be,

87
01:04:27.785 --> 01:05:04.050
like, on page six. I don't know. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Podcast. But, like, I I sort of I worry about the integrity of the original election, whether it be appropriate or not, whether or not the people who were there did not get verified to vote. I think they have an attendance They're people who signed it. We all signed it. I signed it with my husband. So I think that that needs to be upheld to some extent. Whether more people wanna join in level five, but, like, the people can't make it, that vote should still be counted. Okay. Okay. Case. I found a home. What are the questions he'd be answered?

88
01:05:04.670 --> 01:05:49.855
What's that? Yeah. We can Yeah. We we'll Oh. We can answer. I'm gonna tell her. That's fine. I was Thank you. Mhmm. Yep. And and we did work We emailed like, as soon as we got the emails from you all, like, Victoria, I, miss Adalvo, she said, we met, and we started emailing face. Victoria sent an email to face. I sent an email to face. You know? Like, because we wanted them to help central because, again, we do not want the trust in this process to be completely gone. And we understand the frustration. We understand what's going on. Yes. Some of these things are interpersonal, but, yes, some of these things also speak to the abuse of the process,

89
01:05:49.855 --> 01:06:27.970
maybe abuse of the system. And these are things that we have to discuss and confront and work through. So, again, like I said, I I shared that. I didn't wanna talk about the DTC and I filed, but, you know, that's just to be honest and transparent. You know? These are things that we've asked for answers for before. So tomorrow, you're faced today. So Yes. We need y'all to really get it get involved, intervene, and make sure that we can reinstate. Okay. Thank you for that. Thank you. Thank you. You. You wanna read that comment in the chat. There's a comment in the chat before the the q and a or q and

90
01:06:27.970 --> 01:07:07.275
a. Okay. We do have a comment in the q and a. And, yeah, Shirley Albon, she is our representative for the panel of education policy. She said it is the school's responsibility to determine voter eligibility and eligibility and certification. So the school will assist with that. Okay. Alright. Sounds good. Thank you. Thank you again for coming. Our next agenda item is a school spotlight, and it's, IS two thirty five. The the school at a certain rate is due today, given by principal Evelyn Mosqueda. So she come Okay. Miss miss Mosqueda is coming back.

91
01:07:07.275 --> 01:08:06.835
She come they're gonna get her now. Let me set up her, PowerPoint. Oh, it's not like you said anything yet because it's going through here now. Oh, I got it. I got it. I'll go back. Is it okay? I'm sorry, Julian. The PowerPoint. Here we go. Phone. Thank you, miss Lopez. Thank you, miss Lopez. Come on. I'm trying to please. Whatever you wanna stand. Yeah. What's the port? I believe it works here. Do you need a screen share, please? Screen? Screen share screen. I don't think they see all this. Okay. Oh, like the people in the Zoom? No. I just Alright. Share them now. Yeah. Share them now. Alright. Tell my dad.

92
01:08:06.835 --> 01:09:12.270
Thank you to your help. I'm talking to you. Thank you. Boom. Boom. There we go. Oh, thank you. Good evening, everyone. Thank you so much for this opportunity to present. My name is Evelyn Mosqueda, principal of I n two thirty five, the academy for dual merit. It is an honor and a privilege to be here tonight and share a little bit about who we are. Our core values are grace, which stands for gratitude, respect, acceptance, compassion, and empowerment, something we truly hold and near in our hearts. We,

93
01:09:12.670 --> 01:09:55.980
nominate students whenever they embody any of these values. And and anyone who actually embodies everything, they get the award. So we do these monthly awards, and now we have students dominating each other, students dominating teachers. So it's like the community wide event. Something we really, enjoy and we receive positive impact in our school culture because of, these values. We, are a school that stands for, supporting new immigrants and, multi multilingual learners. We believe in providing our students equitable,

94
01:09:55.980 --> 01:10:34.750
high quality, and inclusive education where they're they too are Korean college ready, and they're prepared for life and beyond so that, when they step out of middle school and go straight into high school, they have a pathway to choose from. We provide multiple programs. And amongst the programs, we offer e and l program. The, and that comes with integrated and stand alone English. And we are also going to be opening this year, for our coming school year, 2026 and 2027, our new language program, putting up with sixth graders and phasing out our TBE program every year after after

95
01:10:34.750 --> 01:11:12.015
that. So that's something that we're celebrating, and, we see that there's a high need in our community to support our students with in Astoria, who live nearby with a dual language program where we can create more inclusivity. And in addition to that, our dual language program will also be an ICT dual language so that students who are bilingual and have an IEP and need that kind of setting, we're the school for you. Here's how to get to our school. We're right near the train station, school buses, and by foot. You're leaving. We also believe in supporting and elevating student voice.

96
01:11:12.155 --> 01:11:46.335
And part of that is we've created the ambassadors and student government program. That means that the students here, as you can see, they all volunteer. They support our schools. And when it comes to having an open house, having career day, and any events, they're the one hosting the event. And these are their, you know, in their own words. I can read the second slide the second quote from one of our students. There are a lot of different cultures here, and our teachers and students embrace it. And when when a student that comes from what students believe. With that said, we,

97
01:11:46.955 --> 01:12:23.110
also offer specialized programs for students who come with, very low literacy skills in Spanish, and that's our site program. We piloted it, last year, and we continued it this year because we saw that there was a need in our community for students who were nonreaders, and, we also piloted a Spanish intervention for and that's that also serves as an the home language support to ensure our students walk away from middle school reading before they enter high school. So as you can see, literacy is at the forefront of who we are.

98
01:12:23.330 --> 01:12:58.345
We embrace both languages, and in this case, in our dual language program, it's going to be offered in Spanish. Easy transition for us because we already offer TBE. We already have the resources in place. We have the teachers with the certificate, certification. And we have a leader who believes in dual language as a parent for for students. For children in the DOE, all my student all my children at home are also bilingual. So it's really important for us to to as parents, believe also and as leaders, that alignment is really important and very clear when when it comes to speaking to

99
01:12:58.345 --> 01:13:31.055
our families. And when we met with the enrollment office, they needed to get a little bit more of, you know, hey. What's your school gonna look like for next year? And we created this presentation for them as well so that everybody's on the same page. And in the enrollment office, could a parent come with these questions? They know who to send them to. Right? They know that the child has newly arrived, they can come to our school. They know that, they need they have a family in need of a dual language program for a child who has an IP, they can come to us.

100
01:13:31.115 --> 01:14:09.400
And if they know that there's a family that currently is enrolled in a in a dual language program, they too can come to us. So this is, a win win for everyone. Here are the pamphlets we created for our community, and we spread in our website. We have it in our, newsletter, our bilingual newsletter, as well So that all families and all visiting, students who are interested in coming to our school and applying, they walk away with this pamphlet so that they can inform their families. And so that everyone has an idea of what IS two thirty five,

101
01:14:09.400 --> 01:14:47.960
the Academy for New Americans, is all about. We offer all the next regular core classes. We have ELA, social studies, science, mathematics, you name it. We also offer, E and L size, world language. We are currently offering the, world language credit for high school. And eventually, we will move on to also offering algebra one. So those are all pieces that are going to be, that are in the works and are a part of our STEAM program. We're trying to create, in a halfway where our students are prepared for Tuesday amongst the different high schools.

102
01:14:47.960 --> 01:15:29.195
So a lot of our students, go or got into middle city college, LaGuardia. They also went, to the technology college, and the one that is for robotics, I can't I can't name it. Thank you. Welcome back. And the one for film and film and, is that the other one? Motion pictures. You got it. You got it. So these high schools are really important. My goal is to one day get our students to also apply to the specialized high schools, where students create their portfolio, either they can get into singing or art. And right now, we have established a connection with Frank Sinatra High School because our students get to

103
01:15:29.195 --> 01:16:07.690
see their, rehearsals. And so those are all pieces that we we work. We wanna expose our students to as much as possible. Another piece that we are very proud of are only partnerships we have brought to our school. Some of our partners are here in the room as well, and, these are our parent partners as well. But one of the things I wanna highlight this year, we opened up with, the Urban League, NYC Reads Urban League Vape team. And we joined for the first time, and they opened up they allowed us to enter into the Spanish league because a

104
01:16:07.690 --> 01:16:42.935
lot of our l's are speaking Spanish. So guess what? Some of our l's said we wanna try it in English, and why not? We, finally finally our chance, we made it to the championship, and our students our two students won the top speaker award. And they ended up in passing So since that we started, you know, we didn't end up looking for granted. And we are all in this race together. We're in this to win. And even if we don't all win at the same rate, at the same pace, we are going to struggle and as we become our student,

105
01:16:43.235 --> 01:17:18.395
we're getting, the same access just like anybody else. And so that's just to name one of the pieces that we're so proud of, top of everything else. I'm also very proud of this community. ISO thirty five serves the children I mean, we also have behind the book. You can see the kids are literally looking at the picture behind the book. We bring authors. We have a wonderful, partnership with our after school, New York Edge. They take care of our kids. They've been nominated as a prep, program for after school. And so these are the things that we're proud of,

106
01:17:18.395 --> 01:17:55.520
who we are. Our after school is in alignment with what we offer during the school day. Master communication. Our shared vision is communicated. And, we we use after school as an extension of the school day because as a school who serves themselves, we have to be in alignment. We have to make sure that everyone's on the same page so that we can do right for our students. And our students say that. They appreciate that. And this is a home away from home for most of our students. Hopefully, this year, we will be, renovating our library, creating that space where students have cozy feeling at the same time,

107
01:17:56.300 --> 01:18:31.040
college and career readiness, feel to this library that we wanna create in the summer if all goes well. And the funds are are still we receive them in time in a timely fashion. We wanna give a big shout out to the mister Riso, Mototovic for supporting us, for the joint partnership, and for all the things that our students are exposed to, if not during the day, also in after and after school. Very proud of our robotics team as well. We have, been presenting at the science expo fair for House AI. That's another pilot that we,

108
01:18:32.860 --> 01:19:11.925
expose our eighth graders with. And, there's all these opportunities that, you know, that we wanna make sure that our students thrive in as well. And with the whole child, we also have to look at their emotions. Right? So thinking about, the students' academic experiences and their journey with their social emotional is a priority for us because there is a need, and we are so thankful for our guidance counselor, mister Barba, and our social worker who, are really instrumental in our community when it comes to supporting our students with SEL.

109
01:19:12.305 --> 01:21:08.140
And we try to make the space cozy. It's, you know, one one floor space. This is our home. You're welcome to come and join and visit. We have been inviting our fourth grade families to come and see a little bit of who we are. They get to enter, enter the classrooms, experience math in a middle school, or or experience literacy in a middle school. And it's exciting to see when when the fourth graders are thinking about their future and we're the ones they choose. So without any further ado, this is our school, and we are And that's all in a snapshot.

110
01:21:08.280 --> 01:21:55.875
Thank you so much for this opportunity. Thank you, Thank you so much for calling. Thank you. Okay. Thank you so much for doing this. Thank you. If you have any any members who'd like to say anything or ask any questions, any comments, just those. Yeah. Also, I am very proud to be your CFP liaison. I was only sad to see when I visited, when I came to visit, they have these beautiful posters all over the wall, and the kids all have these mantras about recipe that I did here. And I was hoping you'd get to that in your presentation, but, they have five ingredients to a recipe every child here,

111
01:21:55.875 --> 01:22:32.410
and it starts with finding your purpose. And they all talk about the story of a book a million miles away. I know. A story of an immigrant farmer who eventually, became an astronaut. And all the children learn this story day one year, and They learn about that recipe including them. And, I'm so impressed when I met all the children here and all the educators here. It really felt like a community that was crowded in so much love. There were so many different people walking these halls,

112
01:22:32.410 --> 01:23:09.050
but there was some commonality to all of it. And it felt like a small little version of New York City, you guys have built here. I have which is really impressive. So, I love these slides, and I love the idea of this recipe. I have this book, this story that I actually got to take home after my CVV pivot here. And I read that with my four year old all the time. It's one of his favorite books. So I think you're creating a lovely culture here where children feel loved and safe when many of them niches their furniture homes here,

113
01:23:09.590 --> 01:23:47.285
in New York. So I'm honored to be your CEC liaison and to have you both. Right? Thank you. And if you're interested, what's the movie? Yes. It's very good. So much inspiration from it, and that hence our theme. So that we can reach for the spot. Oh, thank you so much. I'm just gonna read a comment, principal Monquille. Maryann Manel Vasquez says, this isn't a question but a comment. My late mother worked at ISU thirty five for her entire career. Her memorial students from the last twenty years came. IC thirty five is more than a home away from from home for students. It's a beautiful community for the teachers as well.

114
01:23:47.505 --> 01:24:37.435
Thank you to CC thirty for spotlighting this amazing unique school, and thank you for existing for the students in New York City community. We we are celebrating thirtieth year of September. Thirtieth year since 1996. Oh, yeah. Founding, founding principles, I I I really thank you all for creating this and allowing me to be your principal and and serve such a wonderful community. The teachers, the staff, the support staff, they're amazing. And, I couldn't do this alone without them. Thank you. Thank you. I was like, Thank you. We're going to go to our next oh,

115
01:24:37.435 --> 01:25:54.390
wait. I think I have a lot. I have a lot of Bridge planning. Oh, off of the district planning. Yeah. Off of the district planning is in the house. We're gonna move to have you, present now. So I'm gonna give the floor to Julianne, Soraya, Christina. Welcome. Oh, it was Yeah. I apologize. Okay. It's not fair. Okay. Alright. Reina, are you doing are y'all able to share? Yes. Let's get my classes. Hey, everyone. Yes. We are just getting everything out. Give me one second. Okay. Are you all able to see my screen? Yep. Yes. Great. And I just wanna Raya,

116
01:25:54.390 --> 01:26:32.795
are you with us? Yes. I'm here. Perfect. Okay. Just wanna make sure you're ready, Lindsay. Take it away. Hi. Good evening, everyone. As our CZ co president introduced us, we're from the office of district planning, and we're here to present about a potential rezoning in the Long Island City area. We've actually joined a few CEC meetings before, last year, and, you know, you may be familiar with us. We sent out a survey, and so we're just doing, sort of the next step in this process, which is talking about the rezoning and the results from that came from that survey.

117
01:26:35.655 --> 01:27:13.790
So tonight, we're gonna talk about the elementary school seat need and the planning for the new buildings that are coming. Very exciting. We're gonna talk about school zones and do a rezoning overview. We'll have some discussion and feedback, and then we'll talk about next steps as well as our contact information for you to reach us with questions. Okay. So as you may know, in Long Island City, there are a number of schools serving k to five or k to eight. We're gonna look at the k to five seat need because that seemed to be the greatest. And we saw that there was a deficit of these elementary school seats, and there was a need for additional seats to meet demand.

118
01:27:14.090 --> 01:27:53.785
You can see from this chart, we have a number of the schools, p s 76, p s I s 78, etcetera. And it shows sort of the enrollment versus the capacity, and the small red numbers, show the deficit of seats. K. So in district planning, we sort of heard and and knew that this was coming down the pipeline. There's been a lot of growth in the area. And so there are actually two new school buildings that are planned to open in the coming years to address the seat need as well as the overcrowding that's currently happening. And based upon a survey that we had sent out previously,

119
01:27:54.485 --> 01:28:28.685
we, worked with the community and the CEC as well as super the superintendent's team, thank you, superintendent Hidalgo, to create a plan that would allow us to add both elementary and middle school seats to the Long Island City area. It was very important to the Long Island City community that middle school seats be included in this plan ahead of any additional capacity that may be coming down the pipeline later, and so we heard you. The first site that's actually going to open in the next school yes. The next school year, September 2027,

120
01:28:28.685 --> 01:29:03.430
is partial c or q March. There was actually a proposal that was approved to expand PS 384 from a k to five to a k to eight. And some of PS three eighty four's grades, k to three, and the pre k will move to Parcel C, and they'll be split sided across those two buildings. There's also another building coming to Long Island City area, Q 508 or Court Square that's opening the following year in September 2028. And we will, need to to put out a proposal to go through the a one ninety process

121
01:29:04.370 --> 01:29:41.845
to potentially recite another new school that would open from that will be incubated in the temporary site. It's at that top pink bubble, and then move it to the long term site, which is, that Court Square Building I talked about. So that hasn't we haven't put forth that proposal yet, but that proposal will be forthcoming in the coming years. So the potential rezoning landscape in Long Island City is that right now, PSIS seventy eight's building isn't large enough to accommodate all of the students living within the zone.

122
01:29:42.385 --> 01:30:17.795
And while PS three eighty four, as you know, has typically bridged that gap, you know, they're both sort of bursting at the seams at this point. So with the new school opening, Parcel C, there's an opportunity for us to consider a rezoning in the area to help us target the most overcrowded areas. And the earliest a potential rezoning could go into effect is for the 2728 school year. All plans, for a rezoning timeline would be in collaboration with the community, with you all, with the CEC, and no decisions about any rezoning lines,

123
01:30:17.795 --> 01:30:57.260
etcetera, have been made yet. But we do need your input and your feedback. So we're hoping to hear that tonight. I do also wanna say that currently, we understand that even with some of this could additional capacity that the residential, buildings that are growing up have not, you know, slowed and, that the residential the residents continue to increase in the Long Island City area. We are aware of this, so is the SCA, and we're gonna continue to work with you and our partner offices to, see about how we can be most strategic and creative in best utilizing the capacity

124
01:30:57.260 --> 01:31:36.845
that we have and the capacity that's coming. So what exactly is a school zone? So a zone is a specific geographic area. Okay? And zone schools give priority to the students who live in that specific geographic area. That is known as your school zone. So most zones have just one school, but there are a few zones in the city called share zones that have multiple zone schools. You know, students living in a zone with one zone school have priority to attend that one

125
01:31:36.845 --> 01:32:13.275
school. Students living in a zone with multiple schools or within a shared zone, they have priority to attend any of the zone schools within that zone. However, students will only receive an offer to one school, and priority is usually given to applicants based on sibling priority as well as some other criteria. So as a family, you can list all of the schools, some of the schools, or none of your zone schools on your application that applies to, you know, any school you would like. And how families rank the school on the application is considered when making offers.

126
01:32:14.010 --> 01:32:54.800
However, if you receive an offer to your zone school, you can still be on a wait list for a different zone school that you've ranked higher on your application. It also doesn't mean that if you go to if you're in a shared zone that you can pick whichever school you wanna go to, you would only be get an offer to one school. So I'm actually gonna turn it over to, Julianne who's going to talk about what is a school rezoning. Thanks, Rhea. So, yeah, so now that we've talked about zones, rezoning is the process where the geographic areas of school zones are changed,

127
01:32:55.500 --> 01:33:35.435
or new zones are created. And this process is governed by a chancellor's regulation, chancellor's regulation a one eighty five. Rezonings are done for a lot of different reasons. We've listed some of them here on the slide. They can be done to create a zone for a new school that's opening, to increase access to a school, to increase diversity, and to allow families to make an informed decision regarding their children's educational experience. And they're also done to improve learning outcomes, alleviate overcrowding, reduce wait lists, and relate to equalize enrollment across multiple buildings. When we are creating zone lines,

128
01:33:35.435 --> 01:34:13.390
we take a few different factors into consideration. We look at the new residential construction in an area. We look at geographic barriers. So these could be, anything in the area that is difficult or challenging for families to travel, across. So it could be a highway or an overpass, just something that may make it more challenging for families to get to a particular school building. And we also take into account travel distance, how far families would be traveling to get to their zone school if they lived within the zone. We draw zone lines in a way that contains the appropriate number of residents for

129
01:34:13.390 --> 01:34:45.990
a school size based on recent public school enrollment trends. And we also try to promote diversity and integration across schools. So when we're drawing lines, there's a bunch of different steps. But the the quick and fast of it here is that we look and we determine what the target zone size is for each school. So what's the appropriate number of residents that should be in the zone based on the school size and the enrollment trends? We project future residents that might move into that zone based on the residential growth, and then we'll draw out different scenarios,

130
01:34:47.010 --> 01:35:25.515
that are proposing different zone lines. And so we have been, as Raya shared earlier, joining meetings over the past several months, to kick off some of the rezoning conversations. And even before that, last year, we collaborated closely with the CEC and with superintendent Hidalgo to start to think about plans for the new school buildings that are opening. As we've been starting to discuss rezoning and collect feedback, we have joined several of CC thirty's meetings, and then we also had a community conversation last month where we shared a bunch of this similar material to get folks up to speed on zones and the rezoning

131
01:35:25.575 --> 01:35:59.430
process and to start to collect feedback on what a rezoning in the LIC area might look like. And throughout these meetings, we heard we've been hearing a lot of different feedback. We're excited to continue hearing your feedback tonight as well. But just to share what we've heard so far, we have had folks, share that they would like to better understand school zones and this rezoning process and what the difference is between a shared zone and individual school zones. We've heard concerns about sibling priority and folks wanting sibling priority to remain, and then a lot of questions and concerns from folks who wanna ensure they can

132
01:35:59.430 --> 01:36:32.990
continue to access seats at PSIS seventy eight, at PS three eighty four, and at that new school that's opening PS four thirty nine. We've heard a desire from families further north in LIC to be incorporated into any potential rezoning in this area. We've heard families share that they would really like to live close to their zone school and that they are hoping for reduced travel times and to not have to travel super far to get to their school. And we've heard an interest in us, conducting additional engagement and meeting directly to school communities to continue gathering feedback.

133
01:36:32.990 --> 01:37:09.875
So we really appreciate all the folks that have come out and shared with us so far, and looking forward to continue to hear from you all. So I know we did have a poll question that we wanted to ask folks. I'm not sure, Whitney and Victoria have now might be the right time to pop it up. So just to help us, I think, continue to get a feel of how folks are feeling about rezoning in the material, we do have a poll question up here, that we would greatly appreciate if you're on Zoom if you can answer. We're wondering what best option describes your current understanding of the rezoning process.

134
01:37:10.175 --> 01:37:47.000
Either I don't know anything about rezoning. I have some understanding, but I still have some questions. And, for those questions, we invite you to drop them in the chat or to ask them now. Or I'm familiar with the process, and I don't have any questions. So appreciate folks filling that out for us. And then, yeah, we will open it up to questions. We have, additionally, some guiding questions here on the slide. Just if, you do have questions, we welcome any of them. I think we're really looking tonight. I know they're, in previous meetings, we've heard a lot of really specific admissions questions from families about where they are

135
01:37:47.000 --> 01:38:25.300
in the admissions process and how they'll ensure that they can get access to seats. And I think, you know, we don't have anyone here from office of student enrollment tonight. So, and we are not the experts on that process. So for tonight, we are really hoping to just get your feedback about some of the geographic areas, in LIC. So if there are any geographic barriers we should be keeping in mind, is the Queensborough Bridge a geographic barrier? Okay. We'd like to hear, you know, feedback on, the shared zone versus individual zones. As Ray shared earlier, we could have one shared zone in this area that incorporated all schools in LIC.

136
01:38:25.300 --> 01:39:01.465
We could have separate zones for 78384 and the new school. So we'd love to hear if folks have a preference about that. And if anyone has any feedback on whether students that are currently zoned to 78 remain zoned to 78384 or the new school 439. And just any more feedback you have on engagement opportunities or, what that could look like over the next couple of months as we continue gathering feedback. K. We can't vote. Alright. We can't vote. Great. Do I need to end the poll? Are we okay? We have 48% of the people who are attending have participated, and it looks like it's skewing for,

137
01:39:03.205 --> 01:39:37.295
about 46% of people here say that they are familiar with the process and don't have any questions. However, we do have about half of participants either say they don't know anything about rebounding. They've got two. And about five of them say they, have understanding of sub questions. So it's still kinda ending with about 55% participation on the call so far. Sure. And like I said, if you have any questions about sort of the rezoning process, we encourage you to drop it in the chat. Julian, I'm wondering if it is, maybe we should just go quickly to that process slide, and I can talk through it quickly.

138
01:39:37.295 --> 01:40:13.880
And, hopefully, that helps. If you see it, it'll help me. Yeah. Okay. So just very quickly, sort of a a brief outline of what the rezoning process would look like. We've done step one. We identified a need. We need to sort of create or consider changing the zone lines to make sure that the schools that are in an area have the appropriate amount of students within them. So it's not overcrowded, undercrowded, things like that. So we've identified the need. The next step is what we're in right now,

139
01:40:13.880 --> 01:40:51.965
and that's the community gate engagement and data analysis, portion. So we're in conversations with the CEC, school principals, you, the community, even elected officials, other important stakeholders. For example, when we did that survey, we sent it out to, early childhood education, sorry, schools so that we would really be targeting families that are gonna be impacted as new students into the the k to five system. And we wanna talk with you all again to understand what geographic barriers are there,

140
01:40:52.105 --> 01:41:28.185
what are you looking for, shared zone, individual zone, things like that. So this is a community engagement portion. Simultaneously, we also do a lot of data analysis. We look at the residential growth in the area. We look at trends. We look at the seat need. We look at a lot of data to sort of understand the enrollment trends and what capacity looks like. So we keep iterating on that, and we generate scenarios saying, okay. If we drew a zone line here, how about how many students would this school building attract? Or how because this building only has this much capacity,

141
01:41:28.245 --> 01:42:06.810
how big can the zone be? Because this is how many people live in this area. So we do this process for quite some time until we land on something, that we feel is going to be, you know, appropriate. And, again, we do this in conjunction with the CEC, schools, and other members of the community, you all. Once we feel like we have that, then we have a presentation for the zone lines that we propose, and it's presented publicly to the CEC. And then we gather feedback from you all again.

142
01:42:07.750 --> 01:42:46.945
If all goes well, the CEC would then vote on it within forty five days after that proposal is submitted. So that's sort of the process of how it works. Obviously, once we get feedback that's, you know, this can't work or maybe this, maybe not, we go back to step, two and three. Thanks for that. And, yeah, I think, Whitney and Victoria, we can take down the poll. But I appreciate it's helpful to see where folks are at. I mean, hopefully, what we're down. You just have to close it on your own. It's down. Okay. Okay. Okay. Let's go back to the guiding questions and see if anyone, has anything in the q and a or if anyone has any questions for us.

143
01:42:49.005 --> 01:43:36.315
We do have some participants that have raised their hand. Yes. And we'll call on them. And remember, you have, two minutes. So, William Heskey, if you could, accept the promotion to panelist. Alright. And then when you unmute yourself, that is when the timer will start. Thank you so much. Hello? Can you hear me? Yes. We can. Thank you. Oh, great. Well, thanks everyone, for coming every month, to get all our feedback. We really appreciate it. And the CEC for being great advocates. So the two guiding questions I'll talk to is the priority well,

144
01:43:36.475 --> 01:44:10.505
the the you know, as far as the different zone, you know, where you draw the lines, I mean, I can see pros and cons for all three of your, scenarios. So I am I am sort of just a listener to to what other people are saying right now. But for the, for the Queensborough Bridge, the Queens North people, Queens Plaza North, you know, I talked with some of those people, and it seems like they're kinda landing on 44th Avenue, which is really just kind of, like, one block north of the Queensborough Bridge is kind of, like, what they feel is appropriate because those are all high rises,

145
01:44:10.645 --> 01:44:50.990
and they kinda feel like they're part of that Court Square area. So, you know, I'm I'm I'm all for including that kind of strip of high rises. And then for the sibling priority, I think it's important that we not break up families, so that, I I think that would draw the ire of a lot of existing families. You know? They have everything to lose and and and nothing to gain, if if the, the sibling grandfathering isn't included, in the rezoning. So, I I think those are I I think, to me, those kinda stand out as sort of basic,

146
01:44:52.970 --> 01:45:48.120
stances. And so, again, once again, thank you so much for, doing all these, feedback meetings. Yeah. I'm like Thank you for joining. Mhmm. K. Randy, we're gonna promote you to panelist. Hi. My name is Randy Din. I am a Long Island City resident in a building on Queens Plaza North. I've lived there for over the past ten years. A sidewalk away from the current 78 zone, and my son attends district thirty pre k center in Long Island City. And my family would say is deeply connected to the Court Square community. I did send you guys an email probably with a little bit absurd amount of

147
01:45:48.120 --> 01:46:23.110
information with literal Google footpaths of my every single whereabout during the weekday, over, I think, like, a month and a half. But please, like, send back my way. I'll send you other months just to show, like, where Queens Plaza North residents exist. I'm three blocks away from the new school. I'm so excited about the new school, and we have personally lost friends of kids in our building who crossed the line to be in a zone that's, you know, seconds away. The zone we're currently Zone 4, which is a lovely school that I toured,

148
01:46:23.110 --> 01:46:57.965
is a 130% overcapacity, much further away. If I walk directly north of my building, it is auto shops and I think a power plant. So I just, wanted to hop on again and just say, would love to see Queen's Plaza North included in the future, whether it is for a holistic zoning of '78 or for the Court Square School, which is gonna be so close to us. And then my last comment is oh, Queensborough Plaza Bridge shouldn't be marked as a territory that is, you know, uncrossable. We cross it every single day,

149
01:46:57.965 --> 01:47:33.605
and we can even cross under it without having to cross all that bridge traffic. And there was also just a new stoplight, added. So I hope it's not counted as a barrier still, and thank you so much for your time and consideration. Thank you so much. Yeah. I think that's really great to know that the Queensborough Bridge is maybe not a geographic barrier. That's sort of the feedback that we're also looking for because what we see sort of on the maps may not actually be what the lived experience is. So that's great to know. Thank you. And thank you for your email with all of those details and maps and pictures.

150
01:47:33.665 --> 01:48:10.140
It was, extremely helpful and thoughtful for you for to take the time to send that. So thank you. Absolutely. Okay. I don't see any hands, but I'm gonna read some of the comments in the q and a. Not a question, but rather a comment. Queensbridge is not a barrier. There are two safe passages, including Queens Plaza North and Queens Plaza South. Please consider Queens Plaza North in reasoning process, again, rezoning process, including they're in the zone, our zone schools further away and overcrowded at a 130%. Awesome. Kate. Weigel. Weigel. Jacqueline Daily says, we need explicit flexibility across the P S 384,

151
01:48:10.140 --> 01:48:52.345
P S 78, and P S 439 cluster. If a rising first or second grader is currently stranded on a deep wait list, how will this plan guarantee them a pathway into any of these three school that seems to open up rather than trapping them outside the neighborhood because they're specifically zoned school remains maxed? Last, comment is from Catherine Beswick. As someone who lives on Queens Plaza North and who needs to work the very most time to pitch can verify that navigating this area has become incredibly safe and seamless. And some recent NYC DOT infrastructure upgrades including the new pedestrian crosswalk on Crescent Street,

152
01:48:52.405 --> 01:49:34.310
the neighborhood layout is highly accessible and no longer acts as a geographic barrier. Because both hubs sit directly with the Long Island City, we have multiple convenient street level routes that completely bypass any bridge traffic or congestion. This area has evolved into a truly walkable, highly connected community. Wonderful. Okay. Well, alright. That's all we have been in on Okay. Okay. You guys wanna leave your contact information in case anyone has any follow-up? There you go. And do we have any questions from either interpretation room? No questions. No questions. Thank you. Thank you.

153
01:49:35.890 --> 01:50:14.100
Yeah. Just in terms of next steps, we, will continue to think through additional engagement opportunities over the summer and into the fall. Should we pursue a rezoning, we'll use the feedback we've gathered to develop some scenarios to present to the CEC and the broader community, and then a proposal would be voted on by late fall to allow for implementation. As families, it would be implemented in 2728 so families could take that into account as this fall. As they're working on their kindergarten applications. Here's our emails, and also our Queen's zoning inbox. Folks are welcome to share feedback at any time, and we'll continue to work closely with the CEC to plan upcoming engagements as well.

154
01:50:15.355 --> 01:50:50.015
Thank you all so much. We really appreciate you sharing your thoughts. You. Yeah. No. Thank you guys for coming. And then also just just kinda does kind of segue to your presentation. District planning, they can only plan for the buildings that we have. So we do need new buildings in this area. So there is a lot of city council hearings coming up. You can testify on the tenth. We all know about the one LIP plan. So, again, please come and participate in those meetings as well. I know we have a lot of parents that are interested in them. Believe me, as a Hunters Point resident, I know that we need school seats.

155
01:50:50.155 --> 01:51:23.590
We have heard from the community. We and thank you to the office of district planning for and and, you know, helping us also with parcel C. We've heard the community. You know, that became now the extension of 384 because middle school things were also needed in this area. So to get these buildings built, the buildings for the one LRC plan, any building that we want district planning to plan for, full construction authority, and the the budget the city's capital budget has to go to build these new buildings. So not only and I put that here at our CEC meeting,

156
01:51:23.590 --> 01:51:57.770
but please please please go to the one l I c task force meeting. Please specify on the tenth, and talk about what we need in this area because district planning can only plan for the buildings that we have that exist in this moment. So we are trying our best and advocating as much as we can when we need more parent voice and more people to get involved in the process. So not only come to our CEC meetings, but go to the city council hearings. Go to the panel for education, biacy meetings. There was one a couple months ago where the capital budget was discussed,

157
01:51:58.390 --> 01:52:32.860
and we needed more parents from this area to come. So we do CEC 30, we advocate on everyone's behalf, but it's definitely with more voices. We have more impact. More impact, we have more results. So thank you. Sorry. I just had to plug. Let me help us submit written testimony for Yes. For, Wednesday, the council hearing on the project. I'm giving date of it. Yep. Thank you, Nadia. So, yes, Wednesday, you can comment virtually, in person, send testimony, and you can also email testimony up to forty eight hours after the hearing closes.

158
01:52:32.860 --> 01:53:07.385
So you have time. And there are a lot of parents here. I've seen them. So thank you all for coming to our meeting. Continue to come to our meeting and continue to have that. So, yeah, it's gonna take some time. We just have two last comments before we move over to the next agenda item. From Mario Mano Bassi, wearing a different hat, I do not think that certain parents' choice for school, choice to trump a family's ability to plan and know that they have a reserved seat. As someone in a, quote, unquote, low rise building who was born and raised in LIP, whose mother was a founding teacher at two thirty five, asked her that rezoning will mostly impact low rises,

159
01:53:07.385 --> 01:53:42.275
which does not make sense. Please ensure that rezoning processes are socioeconomically inclusive. And Heidi McGowan asked, how many rounds of voting on rezoning for allied schools do we We're not voting yet. There is no vote. So I can I can answer that honestly? Right now, we are at the position where we are getting community engagement and feedback before any potential, reboning plans are provided to the community or any lines are provided to the community. I'm gonna let Julianne and Rhea jump in on that point, but we are not voting yet. So I don't we're not at the voting stage.

160
01:53:42.275 --> 01:54:21.380
We're at the information gathering and presenting, this information to the community because we're synthesizing all of that, including what we have in in regards to buildings, seats, and school, class size mandate. So we are trying to do our best with all of the information all at once. So I'm with the professional tip for Yeah. No worries. Thank you so much, Whitney. And I I think also, the amount of rounds of voting sort of has to do with which proposals are approved. You know? I think if we come up with a a plan and everyone's on board and

161
01:54:21.380 --> 01:54:54.680
it's it's great, then there's a vote and it it passes. It's that's sort of that's sort of the process. I don't think that there is a a way that it you know, we vote on it and then you go back once you have sort of majority and and vote on it again. It's it's you know, the vote would would be the vote. And it is just a very iterative process. So when we bring something for CEC to vote on, it wouldn't be the first time that folks are seeing it by any stretch. I think we'd engage with all the potentially impacted school communities so that they could see any scenarios.

162
01:54:54.995 --> 01:55:28.365
We meet closely with the CEC in the weeks leading up to that, and we would share something publicly before any vote is happening. So there will be a lot of opportunities to share feedback. And I just see another question in the chat around, timeline for maps. I think we have the timeline up here again, that we, you know, would be potentially looking at continuing our planning this summer and into the early fall, and we will we'll keep you all posted as we continue to get closer to, looking at potential scenario maps. Yeah. Can you read that up really quick, though? And then also just to make this clear, I think there is community engagement,

163
01:55:28.365 --> 01:56:03.570
and we do take community input. However, the community does not vote on these lines. The vote is done by members on CEC 30. So they do take community input and voice in consideration, as you can see, when we did for parcel c to extend that into, grade more grades for March, change that school to a k to a. So, yes, we do take community input. We value community voice. We put that in the forefront. However, with the official process, the vote takes place on from CEC members. Thank you.

164
01:56:04.030 --> 01:57:10.145
Mhmm. K. Well, thank you, Julianne. Thank you, Rhea, for being here tonight, for being I don't even know how many CEC meetings have been here, but we appreciate your engagement information that you give to the community and just answering all our questions. So thank you. We wish you a good night. Yes. Thanks for having us. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Good night. Our next agenda item is the z thirty president's council quarterly check-in. I'm going to I think you got it, Alice. I'm gonna give the port a passance daily. I'm gonna I'm gonna promote you now. Okay. Hi. Can you hear me? Yes. Had to sneak out of a volleyball banquet.

165
01:57:10.525 --> 01:57:53.550
It's too loud in there. Thank you for, pushing me back. Of course, my timing came up just when the award started. I'm Becca Staley, district thirty president's council, co president. And it's obviously election season. I know I heard a lot of commentary about, grievances. There's not we're not the only you're not the only school that has grievances. Trust me. But there's a process. The process is being followed. We've talked about it a lot at president's council, the proper way to handle elections. And, it is the job of president's council to, assist in elections. And when we can't or unavailable, the first people we reach out to are the chancellor's parent advisory council,

166
01:57:53.550 --> 01:58:31.095
which is like the president's council of president's councils at for their assistance, and then we go to case if we need more. We have, obviously, election season. A lot of schools are still doing their elections, and SLT positions, PAC positions if you're a title one school. If anyone has any question, if you're a PA, PTO person and has any questions about elections, need assistance, we've been trying to hit as many, election meetings as possible. We're an executive board of, like, four, one, two, five people. But, obviously, we all have kids and are very busy. But, we would try to make as many of our election meetings a physical election as

167
01:58:31.095 --> 01:59:07.845
we can. Sending a phone number. I got it. My friend is lost that. And, we, we have our elections for our executive board on actually, in the building that you guys are in now. I bought downstairs at P S 234. And they would be Tuesday the I'm trying to draw a blank list of what Tuesday date is. The sixteenth, I think. Mhmm. Yes. Thank you. Tuesday the sixteenth at 10:15. All the current and, incoming board members are invited. 10:15AM at P S 234, entrance on 29th Street. We'll be meeting in the library,

168
01:59:08.120 --> 01:59:48.730
and we will hold our elections. We must have your certification form. Every every PTA president is a member of president's council. If they are unable to attend the meetings, they can appoint a designee. And, but they definitely have to be approved by general membership. And then though that designee or PTA president is eligible to run for executive form. The one big thing we do besides supporting other PAs and PTAs is the trunk or treat, which so mark your calendars because it's Friday, October 23, and the story apart. And I think I've covered everything I wanted to cover. Hey, Rebecca. Yeah. Do any member any questions?

169
01:59:48.790 --> 02:00:31.155
Thomas, Rebecca? Okay. Anyone in the audience have any comments or questions, Rebecca? And this is canceled. Can you send a form? Right. She can't she can't hear you. She's gonna I'm just on the phone Zoom. Sorry. Okay. Can you explain the form that you need in order to run for president counsel? You have to certification form? The election certification. What is what is that? Can you explain that? There's There's an election certification form that's made by the Loydaley, that is that every after every election, it's supposed to be filled out and signed by the the incoming officers. The parent coordinator usually is the person the point person on that,

170
02:00:31.315 --> 02:01:07.230
and the principal assigned that for it as well. And it's it's the way that we verify that who is your PTA president, who's all on your board, who's your SLT members. And, and like I said, if you cannot attend president's council, it does ask who is your alternate or your designee, so that we know who's eligible to come to our meetings. Because if we were to vote on something, we need to know who the eligible voter is. But we, we like to keep our meetings open to the entire executive board because we think we feel like it's a good support system and good way to, meet other people, learn new things, learn different ideas, events and whatnot.

171
02:01:07.230 --> 02:01:39.790
So we invite everybody to attend our meetings. But if we were to vote on something, only the official designee or PTA president would be eligible to vote. That's And the certification that that's what the certification form is for. It's filed with FACE. FACE does have it. It's necessary also for CPAC, such as their advisory council, to know who does, we do a certification form for the executive board for Veterans Council so that they know who the representative to CPAC is. So I'm the representative to CPAC for our district. So I attend those monthly meetings as well. And then,

172
02:01:40.030 --> 02:02:15.675
they need because they need to know who the official representative for the 06:30 is as well as, you know, who does what are all the goals there is an alternate, etcetera. But the certification forms are for every level, and you could probably just Google it and find it, I believe. But they are on our district thirty president's council website, which is d30presidentscouncil.com. It also gets filed with your principal. Yes. She got you got another minute. So the, end of the period, the PTO board is made up. Right? From the school, the parents go from that board. Among that board, anyone can be on the principal's counselor. It's only president and then whoever the president is.

173
02:02:15.975 --> 02:02:51.625
The only official member is the president. Yeah. And if you have co presidents, you have to designate one person one usually, what what is recommended when there's co presidents is one co president is representative on the SLT because all school leadership teams have to, the president to take precedence and membership of the school leadership team. So when there's two of you, one of you can do SLT and the other can do president's council, but only one, not both. You could be able to, exclusivity, and the the meeting time, they're also at 10:15. So that's just by Well, that's the council meeting as alternated month. So there's One month's Yeah.

174
02:02:51.625 --> 02:03:26.750
And then one's in the upper Virtual ones in the evening, and then the impressing ones in the morning. Okay. So it it alternates on. Okay. Yeah. We alternate on a monthly basis and post our, minutes and, our presentation on our website after every meeting. And you can always email us if you have any questions. But our our SUNY, our current recording secretary is very thorough. So if you check our minutes, you'll see. You'll know exactly what happened. And, but we do meet alternately to try to accommodate everybody because virtual is great because, obviously, I'm joining you guys from my daughter's award banquet. Otherwise,

175
02:03:26.750 --> 02:04:06.495
I wouldn't be able to be a part of it. But, in person is just so much nicer to actually get that time to meet each other. And we're, like, it's just to know each other from other other PA and PA presidents from around the district. That's what I love about the in person meetings. Like, as you guys are in person now, you get to actually see each other face to face. It's nice to see people. I would have loved to have been there. Like I said, I'm the school I'm actually the PA president for February downstairs, but I'm here. So, but in person is always just you know, I think there's there's something nice about them. So we try to alternate to make sure that we, can accommodate everybody. Thank you, Becca. The Shirley Oben says,

176
02:04:06.735 --> 02:04:50.450
certification form is a PAPTA form, not the parent coordinator. It should be filled out by the elections chair. Thank you, Shirley. So thank you, Becca, for being here today. Enjoy the banquet. Congratulations on the award for your kid. Thank you. Thank you. Okay. Next agenda item is, you can't you gotta be a co host. Oh, okay. I got it right. Next agenda item is, the district attorney community superintendent for court. Come on. I'm I'm not the host anymore. Somebody even moved my host. I'm sorry. Can you give us cohost?

177
02:04:52.590 --> 02:05:33.845
Or host? Or make, Yeah. Can you make miss Castillo cohosting? Because I can't make her cohosting. Yeah. I can't share without that. I don't know about sharing, and I can't change the shared setting. So while that while that getting ready, hi, everyone. Hey. Once again, my name is Kate Cadab. I'm the district attorney superintendent. I just wanted to answer two or three things from the from the first, like, time. From Virginia, I'm really looking very high in 02:30. The CBOs, that is something that thank you for sharing, and I've gotten inundated a 100 emails as well.

178
02:05:33.845 --> 02:06:09.355
But that I don't control. That is something that, Central decided to do. They switched up the CBOs, and the only thing they said was that if you want it if the CBO was wanted to stay, they could appeal it, but they have to appeal it's essential. So once again, that is not something that falls under my auspices. That is just something that I understand that many schools and many families are not necessarily happy with. But I hear you, but I do not control that. That comes directly from New York City Public Schools. Also, for the parent,

179
02:06:09.355 --> 02:06:46.210
Jacqueline, Long Island City seats, we are talking about rezoning, so that's 75. And I also wanted to say there was a comment before that I was the one that overturned I'm gonna read it just so Go ahead. Christina Zona Lecita. My understanding is that superintendent Hidalgo overturned the p s one twenty two PTO election. Can you provide more insight? Once again, I do not I do not overturn. That has, like, Becca was just saying, that has to do with the PTA, right, the PTOs. And if there is something that is not happening the way they think it should

180
02:06:46.210 --> 02:07:21.565
happen, that is in conversation with the New York City Public School Office of Family and Community Empowerment, which is FACE. They are the ones, that decide what is being overturned when they're given certain facts, even though they didn't say it here. But, they we have been in our District 30, and the people that we're working with this situation were in constant communication with FACE. And FACE is the ones that overturn it, but now they're gonna reconsider, which is what's happening. So that's where we are.

181
02:07:21.565 --> 02:08:03.540
I do not overturn the decision. I wish I had the power that people think I have. Believe me. But it's it's it's I'm not glad someone just to make sure that we're clear. K? And if we're ready, miss Castillo, let's begin. So I just wanted to give some district highlights. A lot of great things happening in the district right now. I know that a lot of people when they come and it makes me a little sad sometimes because when I come to a CAC meeting, everybody's giving me, you know, the things that they're unhappy with. But there are a lot of good things that are happening throughout District 30 in

182
02:08:03.540 --> 02:08:39.520
all of our schools. And I'm very happy to announce that our district would stall would stall thirty champions. Our district cup winners were PSIS seventy eight, which is two years in a row, so congratulations to PSIS seventy eight. The Superintendents Cup went to PS three sixty one. I happened to be at that particular game. It was, it's always great, to see I love sports. It was great to see the game, but it's always sad to to see the smoothing things that they can get really serious. And the Community Cup winner was PS three ninety eight.

183
02:08:39.660 --> 02:09:16.745
So yes. Yes. To win from two of our winners. We also I also wanted to share that we recently had, or before that, we had our, civics fair, which was amazing. We had a lot of schools over 27 schools participated. Our students showcased thoughtful projects, demonstrated civic engagement, and inspired us with their commitment to making a difference in their communities. It was beautiful to hear the beaches. It was nice to see them walking around. It was a very great and this was the first one, in District 30, so we were very proud of that.

184
02:09:17.605 --> 02:09:55.640
And we also, moving on to the next slide, we also have shout out to all our District 30 schools that recently brought Broadway to life. Something that we, really wanna pride ourselves in District 30 is that we do take the arts very seriously. And, many of our schools, the talent is there. I mean, we had talented cast members on go with me. We saw, we I personally went to PS seventy, but there's many many schools throughout the district, one sixty six. So many have plays, and then it and we see how dedicated staff members working behind the scenes.

185
02:09:56.260 --> 02:10:36.205
Their hard work, creativity, and passion was on full display. And one thing I I want all our district thirty families to know that if any child, any student that is a a a a family of district thirty and makes it to the red carpet, make sure they remember me as the child. Your school principals because, you know, the talent is there. So I just wanna know that don't make sure wherever you are, you say that you started at District thirty to elementary school. District thirty's Firth EVA movie day. This was a huge success.

186
02:10:37.305 --> 02:11:14.410
We had over 600 students that were invited. Again, from the arts, we had an arts grant, so we were able to take, many of our students. And what we did was we gave the principal the, a number. Every school got the same number, and they decided, what was gonna be the criteria. Some did improved. An example would be improved, common students. Another one was oh, that's just me right now. But there was the schools decided what how who was gonna participate. So the energy was incredible. The smiles said it all.

187
02:11:14.950 --> 02:11:57.465
I was very grateful for all who helped plan this and organize and bring this event to life. I especially my heart was full. The kids were so appreciative. They were so excited. They got to see chief detective of elementary school and middle school got to see Animal Farm, which is based on a novel. So it was it was a very it was very exciting, and and the buses came on time. They left on time. Everything went just a few updates from me. May 4 through June 12 is our end of year assessment. I'm so excited to see where we are and if we met our CEP goals,

188
02:11:57.465 --> 02:12:39.610
which next month we will find out. June 19, just a reminder, there is no school June 19, and the last day of school is June 26, and summarizing begins July 1. And for those that I may not see, have a wonderful summer, and this is how you stay connected to us. Thank you so much. That's it. Okay. Thank you. Do we have any questions or comments for superintendent Hidalgo? Any questions for miss Hidalgo? Just have one comment. Thank you for everything you did throughout the school. It was all those extracurricular activities are so great for our children.

189
02:12:39.610 --> 02:13:19.995
I just have one request if you can start a volleyball. It's a very popular sport. I Yes. I know. And I think we're missing that. That would be great if we can start that. If I'm not mistaken, we because I know, like, I was putting my liaison school. They they have volleyball too. Yeah. But it'll be great. Have volleyball. It was gonna be, because I have it written on so the the thirteenth, thirteenth on Saturday, there will be a middle school volleyball, tournament. Thank you. Mhmm. Tournament happening. But it's for middle school right now. I don't know if we're gonna do an elementary as of yet,

190
02:13:19.995 --> 02:13:53.850
but we'll definitely take that into consideration. And and if you notice, we did more this year than we did last year. I did. Yes. The year before. So every year, we've increased it a little bit, and because they love it. And, you know, who wouldn't? It's it's three. Right? All has to participate. It brings the schools together. It brings the families together. So, we do have to remind families. It's just it's just The game the game has problems. Too hard. Back to three. Because it's And so the Right. Yeah. It's going really well. And definitely. Thank you. I have one question, miss,

191
02:13:53.850 --> 02:14:28.600
but I it looks like a question slash comment. I know that thank you for giving some information about the afterschool programs, the DYPD, our middle schools. We had three schools that were affected, you know, Louis Armstrong, IS, that's not less than 30, and, Young Women's Leadership School in Astoria. So it's two different than for people at home too. So it's two different providers, you know, Coalition for Families and Families and Girls Inc. There's more. Yeah. I know there are four schools in the district, but those are the, you know, three they have the petition they're going through. It's all across the city. So when I guess,

192
02:14:28.600 --> 02:15:02.505
will you or anyone else be available to or allowed to disclose more transparency around the process. And I have to find out when the process went first. Because that's what I'm saying. Like, you weren't given this information at the district level. Just like everybody else. Yeah. And so, like, these are questions that we have, you know, and we're advocating for these schools. I know that a few of them no. I think all of them have, you know, they they're appealing with these decisions. And so for us, it's just who can we work with? And doctor Faye,

193
02:15:02.505 --> 02:15:37.425
I see you. I saw you on here. Thank you for joining doctor Faye. I appreciate y'all. Doctor Faye is doing a lot too. And maybe he knows. Yeah. It's just when or something I don't when can this information, I guess, be given to us in a way that, a, we can look at it, review it, digest it, and then understand, I guess, how can we intervene and advocate so that this doesn't happen again? Like, let's say it was a shortfall of maybe a thousand dollars in between these bids. Could there be a process where this could be shared with the community transparently and that maybe the community can fundraise or an angel donor can jump in and help?

194
02:15:37.425 --> 02:16:22.210
It's just you know, I just don't understand. I don't either. Doctor. Peggy, do you have some some insight? Regarding the one twenty two elections? No. No. No. No. No. No. No. Oh, the Yeah. I heard them. Be fine with y'all, doctor. Say anything. No. No. I'm just saying. Tonight. I'm just getting that. I the day my night. That's crazy. I'm not the after school program. Crazy. Yeah. So for the after school programs, we don't really have. There wasn't a lot of information given to us. They met with, the superintendents and the deputies,

195
02:16:22.210 --> 02:16:57.615
and they basically just said what miss Hidalgo said, that if if, a CBO was unhappy with not getting their assignment, only the CBO can file an appeal Right. Right. Directly with Central. The school could not nor could we. And we've had several schools contacting us saying that they weren't happy, and we explained that to them. I said you could write a letter for the CBO that they could attach to their appeal, right, that so they know that you as the school are in favor.

196
02:16:57.835 --> 02:17:33.575
It seems like our district, for some reason, had many of our schools that did not get the CBOs, that they so you know, that they really worked hard to build relationships with and finally got things running smoothly. So there was really, you know, quite an upsetment, not only from the parents, but even the principals and some of the school staff. Mhmm. So Yeah. It's just frustrating that you all don't have the criterion upon why these decisions were made, and you don't find them.

197
02:17:33.575 --> 02:18:05.595
Right. Well, it's just like, what was the process? Who made your decision? Was it really just checking boxes? And an algorithm made your decision or a human make like, these are questions we have. I know y'all don't have to answer. I know y'all don't have to answer. This is just me venting. But again, like, policy and the impact of the policy, it doesn't make any I'm impressed and I don't know. Yeah. But it doesn't make any sense. Especially when parents complain to us. When we don't know what to do. And then I also wanted to add on that. When they found out,

198
02:18:06.120 --> 02:18:41.500
the director actually found out on a Wednesday, and it was Memorial weekend. Mhmm. So the last day to appeal was Tuesday. So just imagine, like I'm actually one of the middles, like, the PTA's presence there. And just imagine, like, us trying to appeal it within two days' time, it's really hard. Mhmm. And it was over in on Tuesday. Like, it's a three day weekend. Like, there's no possible way you can't really appeal. So I feel like they purposely did that, so schools can't really appeal or do anything about it. And especially if you are a school where a lot of your parents are shift

199
02:18:41.500 --> 02:19:16.210
workers, hourly wage earners. Right. They don't have annual leave to take off in the middle of the day to go you know, they don't And language learners. They're good. Yeah. Well, we have a meeting tomorrow, so we we can inquire. And if I, hear any Thank you. Thank you. We also we also share how difficult it is for them to keep pushing this. You want parents and adults with partners and guardians with partners. And, like, we're not we're finding out after the fact that they've been with the shelter. That's like, hey. By the way, this was decided upon seal with it. So it was really hard to earn their trust Yep.

200
02:19:16.330 --> 02:19:52.425
When they're not building that partnership that they they they're seeing And they wanna talk about accountability for who y'all accountability to. They're not being accountable to us. Well, thank you so much. Thank you. Okay. Sorry to let you know. The old resolution. Yes. The next item on our agenda is resolution two zero seven, which is accessible transportation from all prioritizing equity for students with disabilities. The author, the Estella, is here. This has also been disseminated to the community, but but we don't necessarily have to read it line for line. But, however, I do think we should, again, the council,

201
02:19:52.965 --> 02:21:09.030
talk about what is the spirit behind this resolution, what we're trying to accomplish, and, then discuss the resolution and open up for a public comment. And then, Denver. So, Estelle, take it. Bye. Thank you, Anton. Yeah. Tonight, I answered the day of the incident seven. First of all, I'd like to thank, all my co I am speaking to a resolution to your parents tonight as a parent of a child with disability and as someone who has made the former of social fulfillment failure

202
02:21:09.030 --> 02:21:45.015
to attend. We all know the problem in one is their willingness to expand it and make it impossible happen. Our 75 students have legal right to get to school safely in that right now. For decades, the city ran passing on 45 year old. We know that of the Sony had it to a three year emergency contract, but they found it no long term plan. We're still using a working system for 09/1994.

203
02:21:45.555 --> 02:22:26.350
We still spend $50,000,000 in twenty twenty one fifty, nothing changed. New resolution says enough is enough. We call on New York University School for equity, quality, inclusion, transparency, compliance, and services. For equity, we call our middle community, our school to provide something for the full with the screen, summarizing, print, and with your program. And to give give us also that actually work for our kids in working late

204
02:22:26.450 --> 02:23:16.110
in lamps, heat, in AC, and sensor friendly picture, like sound, dampening, soft lighting, and adaptability. All accessibility code from New York City Public Code to public mostly public code card on New York City OpenLab. The voting fee to retailer when both contracts are run to a company as well. For transferring, we call only the voice phone to give every family with time head on to

205
02:23:16.110 --> 02:24:18.390
have have the cutoff alert by text or app. So to complain, we call Onuya delivery school to fully confirm every item that you take to service for free, case and asking for failure. Yeah. Asking for for not to report the individual disability extension at American disability app, 62504, the the representation at IOC, cori.image.

206
02:24:19.330 --> 02:25:06.775
Thank you for listening. Thank you, Estella. K. Do we have any members who have comments or questions or, friendly amendment to where they're written to a. Make a comment of, You know, having attended some of the past meetings around black contracts and speaking with, the aptly named PIST organization, Parent to Improve, parent half student transit, You know, this is a civil rights issue. It's it's an equity issue. And hearing the testimonies of so many of these parents, about their kids getting to school two hours late and missing out on really vital

207
02:25:06.775 --> 02:25:46.670
services. I'm 44. These contracts are older than I am. So, you know, I I applaud Acela for taking the initiative to, work within some of the confines. It's not, you know, certain things we may have to discuss about whether we can, address in a resolution. But, you know, overall, I think it it hits a lot of the issues that are just crazy. I mean, the the climate control and just the standard of the, infrastructure itself. But furthermore, the the roots, I know that the roots for a lot of families, they're sending them an hour or hour or hour or hour or hour or hour

208
02:25:46.670 --> 02:26:29.525
or hour or hour or hour or hour away when, you know, we have GPS technology now. Like, in 2026, there should be a way to prioritize roots. So I'd like to see something like this go a little further, hopefully, up to the path and the chancellor. So that'd be contracts. You know, they have been three years, but, I think I think New York City Public Schools have been operating in good faith for a really long time, and, the students are getting the short answer to the set. Thanks, Alexis. Marlene. Marlene. Marlene? Hello? Can you hear me? Hi, Marlene. I'm having weird connections. Thank you,

209
02:26:29.525 --> 02:27:08.570
Estella, for putting this together. Oh, no. We lost her. Yeah. Still have a good day. I was gonna say, and it although we might not be able to include it, I think also pointing out the safety issues that we're having to pass it over is really, really important. And it was something mentioned by the bus drivers in the town. Yeah. And the people who do, for for checking students' needs and the buses and we need to understand Mhmm. Is that they really the independent contracts do not have protection that are reported to

210
02:27:08.570 --> 02:27:45.475
city employees. And so I think it's really important to mention that I will let you know. Yeah. Mhmm. As we're from our lead, I'm going to also Oh, I have sometimes. Oh, okay. I think this is a good resolution, so I I do have some edits that I wanna discuss before we open this up to the public. And these are just edits in relation to making this resolution work, for the current a body we have and authority we have, and then the also the elected body that represent us that can actually,

211
02:27:45.795 --> 02:28:25.205
do something with this. Starting off with the first, now therefore be resolved, that we request New York City Public Schools, you know, in collaboration. I instead of saying reconvene the pupil transport advisory committee, it should be reconvened a. And I'm saying this because the initial body, they only met twice. And a lot of, transportation advocates and transportation, like, pissed. I even talked to Sarah about this. Mhmm. They were not happy with how the initial P TECH,

212
02:28:25.520 --> 02:29:04.880
the membership, and how they were con how often they were convened and what they were established to do. So I would say reconvene a people transport transportation advisory commission that includes all relevant stakeholders, including city council members, CEC members, parents, and student representatives. Because the way it was constituted before, it just it did not leave it open to, like, mysterious advocates like Sarah at PISS. Yeah. I'm telling she told me about that as well. Yeah. But I I just found out we

213
02:29:06.125 --> 02:29:44.515
we have the results already coming to the most of the page of the column. Yeah. And and put that out. Yeah. So that's one of the changes. The first number one where it says IEP compliance and capital alignment, I state that we removed capital alignment because capital alignment does not have anything to do with this operation budget. Capital is for buildings and infrastructure, and we're asking specifically about our operations item. So I just think it just to say IEP compliance. Okay. One Or number one. So I think it should just say capital just IEP compliance because that's what we're

214
02:29:44.515 --> 02:30:31.170
gonna we're asking for IEP compliance. For number two, for program equity, I love this one. I think it's great. So we need to call on New York City Public Schools, Office of Pupil Transportation, and city council because they have the budget. You know, city council has the budget. So that's that's the one thing I'll add there. I think the fleet standards that it should read very well as great as clear. For number four, again, request from Community City Public School, people transport, and city council. That's number four where it says we're requesting. Yeah. Totally agree with that. Timely family, this is upfront. Fifth budget,

215
02:30:31.550 --> 02:31:16.690
timely family notification of route mergers or changes. That's the fifth budget. I I mean, fifth fifth bullet under number four. That's it. Uh-huh. Sorry. Route 30 to the left. Four pages. Yeah. Four pages. Four pages. Four pages. Four pages. Mhmm. The first key, it further resolved after number four where it says c c thirty requested New York City Social and that's the fee reviewing study. Yes. Okay. So we start with that one from the goals including yep. We're talking about workforce stability, civil service protecting, competitive wages, benefits, all of that.

216
02:31:16.690 --> 02:31:58.315
Again, we need to remove the capital plan, and it needs to just say aligning fleet purchasing with IEP mandated accessibility. Mhmm. That whole cost. And then, the being further resolved after that one, c c 30 request, it should be New York City Public As soon as P TECH. Yeah. Instead of P TECH. Because right now, P TECH doesn't exist. Okay. I think that that would be good. Yeah. And, yeah, any transition plan to maintain and enhance, yep, transitions. Yep. And then the being further resolved after that, CEC 30 recommends that New York City Public School,

217
02:31:58.455 --> 02:32:36.390
the Office of People Transport, and I think the comptroller because their office has really you know, that's what they do. So I think it should say the comptroller. The city comptroller. Yeah. It's gonna be the city. City comptroller. City comptroller. About Mark Levine and now, do that. And then I do have this question, and I should have asked it earlier, but chancellor's reg a four fifty one, that does not exist. So I don't know what we're referencing there, but and I saw that at the top too. That's not a reg. But eight zero one is for people transport. So I was talking about a state law or because,

218
02:32:36.390 --> 02:33:53.385
yes, there's no chance this rig, will will be doing. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know if it's if it's a old rig or if it's a replaced plate. Yeah. We gotta find what that is. I can't find yeah. I can't find 451 anywhere. 48801? Yeah. 801 is there. 801 is good. Yeah. The 451, I can't find anywhere. Somebody could help me with that. Mhmm. Other than that, I think I'm I'm good if y'all are okay with making those amendments. Okay. Just a second. Yeah. I just I we gotta figure out what what we do. I don't know what was supposed to be there.

219
02:33:53.385 --> 02:34:47.005
Yeah. Do you do you recall what the spirit of whatever the regulation was? It kinda looks like. Then which one? Yeah. They might have a good time to blame too. Yeah. I'm not sure. I don't see how to find it out. Uh-huh. Well, I'm happy about that. Or something. Yeah. We gotta find out what they're doing. Mhmm. Okay. Alright. I guess we can open it up to public comment. Okay. You can do it. Okay. Okay. Are you ready to hold? Mhmm. Okay. Sarah Vignado. I'm going to be the panelist. That's Sarah from Pierce, y'all. Miss. You're welcome. Good afternoon, Ray. Good afternoon. Because we are Pierce.

220
02:34:47.225 --> 02:35:36.305
Transportation. Yeah. And I'm not cussing. I never break the rule. Yeah. Hey, Sarah. If you can unmute, we see you. Okay. Hi. Good evening. Not sure about my camera. I'll take a chance. Okay. So, yeah, good evening. I was in the q and a saying you might mean a 800 because that covers, like, all the eligibility and who even gets an army and all of that stuff that might be worth, if you're gonna change that anyway. But in general, I wanna say that we, really applaud the council for placing attention on student transportation.

221
02:35:38.045 --> 02:36:14.825
Reliable yellow buses help all students. But in our fifteen years of organizing, the councils who strictly represent students with disabilities have been the most, you know, loud about the need to recruit and retain staff and to make these shorter, sustainable routes. So it means a lot to see a council recognize and assert that good busing is vital to education, period. I love the spirit and the high standards of the resolution. Yes. We need an ongoing committee to set policy.

222
02:36:15.690 --> 02:36:52.240
Leaders of school bus workers and parents are ready to collaborate on solutions. Yes. We need modern tech, but with compassion behind its goals, not necessarily the VIA system, but something proven to work in other cities. The last city comptroller's audit spelled out three possibilities, which your resolution mentions. Employee protection provisions are a must whether they go with new bids, nonprofit expansion, or a city takeover of the bus basis.

223
02:36:53.100 --> 02:37:39.920
Voting yes for res o 02/2007 will strengthen advocates' efforts to get the regulations redone and the busing system overhaul to benefit riders and workers alike. So let's do it. Let's get all the kids to school on time and safely. Thank you and, email us. Ppistmyc@Gmail. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I missed your. Sorry y'all. Okay. Do we have any other raised hands? I don't see any other raised hands. Anything in the q and a, Victoria? That's what Sarah said.

224
02:37:39.920 --> 02:38:25.355
8800 is relevant, and 801 is certain aspects for 800 is everything. That we're looking here. We're looking today. K. This is just for the resolution. Any other comments that are not related to the resolution will be read from the q and a at the end of the meeting. Do I just have a public comment? K. Do we have any comments or questions from the interpretation room? Not at this time. Okay. So, Estella, are you okay with all of the, edits I proposed earlier? Yes. We need to Okay. Okay. Oh, yes. Everything we mentioned. Okay. So with that,

225
02:38:25.355 --> 02:39:13.665
I'd like to put a motion on the floor that resolution two zero seven be voted on with the amendments. Mhmm. Second. And the clarification on the one. Yeah. And the clarification on the, eight eight eight four fifty one regulation. Okay? So, yeah, Laura is not here, so I will do the no fault. Where is Rob Cheat. Shoot. I'll put it down. It's okay. Yeah. I'm trying to see where the my person is. There was not whatever was that. Yeah. But Hey. Osheko and Garcia? For in favor. In favor. Alright. Can I say here for Alright?

226
02:39:13.665 --> 02:39:53.995
Linda Chung Leon? In favor. In favor. Sorry. I don't know. Alexis Calianides? In favor. Daniela Pressley? In favor. Okay. Victoria Modilias? Mhmm. Priscilla Noguma? In Haida. Marlene Rossi? He ain't made it back yet. Nadia Saeed? In Haida. K. Laura is Hughes. Kayla Spence? In Haida. Wendy Doussaint in favor. So resolution passes. Alright. Thank you. Congratulations. Yeah. Alright. Nadia, our author for resolution two zero eight, resolution in support of a two year moratorium on the use of artificial intelligence, community health schools, and calling for protection to safeguard student privacy.

227
02:39:54.380 --> 02:40:32.750
K. This was also disseminated to the community in our announcement, and it's been on our website for over a week. So you might even have to read it line for line if you don't want to. Okay. But please please share, the overall spirit of the regulate of the resolution and, discuss, what our council is advocating for. Oh, great. So I I already need to check over here. Mhmm. So there has been, I think, a lot of our slides about artificial intelligence and general AI in our schools in the last couple

228
02:40:32.750 --> 02:41:51.860
of months. A lot of discussion, actually, maybe, if you have any issue with guidance on user status. My guidance was that we have a lot of rules. It didn't extract many, many many, Yeah. And, like, we lack guidance around because we're not in schools. So, you know, there are a lot of experts here saying that if I was really comfortable, It shouldn't be a home. There is some evidence that shows that AI, and then it's keeping our clients private.

229
02:41:52.320 --> 02:43:33.815
Mhmm. So what this is on the alert is for the DOE to the moratorium and just talk Mhmm. Before we need to know more. Parents should be given a right to inform you their end of all time and research, and that school should require to maintain a non AI option for performance before walking through a treatment. Usually need to have a lot of people, and we really need to use an hour or another arms metric in concrete to fully something feasible,

230
02:43:35.660 --> 02:44:21.665
make sure that I'm still in custody. Thank you. Okay. I think I need to drop the resolution in the chat. We had someone in the public saying they couldn't find a copy of it. So I will get that dropped in the chat for you or pull it up. I can share it. But, Nadia, thank you for going over that. Do we have any other members that wanna say some comments, in relation to the, the resolution that Nadia worked on and any other co sponsor? Yeah. Go ahead, Joanne. So one, it's a conversation that's been popping up in the district already state over the city,

231
02:44:21.665 --> 02:44:58.429
all over the world, actually. I think one of the things that, happened really quickly was the consultation on the advisement too quickly to really pull together a true parent advisory board, pull together teachers, and even, like, knowing how teachers might want to use this tool in the classroom or use it to is there's there's no two way conversation around, data privacy, educational efficacy. I have a lot of studies coming out about kind of the smoothing intellectual smoothing that happens with these AI,

232
02:44:58.429 --> 02:45:40.020
not just for students. And so, you know, it's not just about it's not just about technology. It's still about, like, how this is being used to train us out. Yeah. So Mhmm. And and use to sort of, without knowledge. And already high school teachers are really continuing with the musical room, and kind of more pen and paper assessments. And so it is also something that we need to to go through. And I don't think it's worth it to have an ad, you know, tools to put out some data for you about,

233
02:45:40.020 --> 02:46:22.625
like, which students need MTSS, when you can look at the data for yourself as a teacher and then have that data be used for. I think it's really important that you're and it just needs extended conversation, which is progress. Thank you. So she's I'd like to add something. I think I brought this up, with some parents about the survey that went out from the DOE asking for AI feedback. It was due on May 8. A lot of us completed that. I was at a district leadership meeting on May 20, and Central had already given guidance on the rollout, come out in four phases.

234
02:46:22.925 --> 02:46:59.170
So my question was, well, if this the last day was May 8, again, where are the results? Where's the engagement? Where is, like, the show improved that we are asking for this? Like, it felt like it was almost like just checking off a box. Okay. We we engaged parents, but, like, there wasn't a conversation around it. And then it's like, okay. Now this is how we're gonna I mean, he scaled it back a little bit, but it it's I'm really having a hard time with this engagement time, and it doesn't really feel like we are, having some difficulty. Mhmm. Mhmm. Yeah. I'd like to add, I was at the meeting on April 29 as were,

02:46:59.490 --> 02:47:32.730
Nadia, Whitney, a number of us, testified about this. What was really heartening with the number of students who came out and testified against the use of AI, middle school and high school students. And, you know, I have a degree in computer arts. Well, I'm not a Luddite by any means. However however, this is putting people like me right out of work in the architectural field, in the animation world, in the graphic design world. And I can't help but think what we're training our kids to do in the future if we're just gonna replace them with this technology.

236
02:47:33.110 --> 02:48:09.910
Furthermore, there's no reason for a kindergartner or first grader to have a one to one device. They're still learning to hold a pencil. They're still learning to write. We know the woman who was here earlier. I'm sorry I didn't get her name, but he spoke about, pen and pencil, you know, and recall, and this is proven. This is proven time and time again. Crystal. Crystal. Thank you. The environmental impacts, of course, we are doing. We also have a number of tried and true programs. They're not being fully funded. We have things that have only been baseline for a single year. It is for our high sensory learning students,

237
02:48:10.605 --> 02:48:46.955
things that do not have a high dollar value attached to them that we're not prioritizing. And that's what we should be focusing on, tried and true things that get our students real results that actually get them to use their brains and not regurgitate. So I have lots of feelings on this, but I'll smoke it there. I totally agree. Not gonna talk too long. I just don't think AI usage should be prevalent in the classroom because AI is the industrialization of decontextualization for it takes context out of everything. It creates a choice that is not human that takes humanity out of approaches,

238
02:48:46.955 --> 02:49:17.785
and we are not teaching our children how to use critical thinking. We're teaching them to offload this thought, to offload this mental labor to a machine that is not human. And having this when we are teaching children critical thinking skills and how to build critical thinking skills is only a hindrance. And I don't think that we should be listening. Missus, I will cover your ears. You are not here. I do not think that we should be listening to people who are employees of New York City Public Schools that were Google associates Yeah.

239
02:49:17.945 --> 02:50:21.550
That were going to classes and attending seminar and registrations and everything that is sponsored by Big Tech. Mhmm. Don't agree with that. Mhmm. So thank you, Nadia, for writing this. I appreciate it. Yeah. That's that's all I had to add to the conversation because it is my third. Where's Crystal? Oh, there you go. Thanks for coming back. I'm a change it. Alright. Crystal, please accept the promotion to panelist. Oh, I'm not a host anymore. I can't promote Can't promote your. Her. Okay. There we go. You can unmute and then turn your camera on if you'd like to,

240
02:50:21.550 --> 02:51:08.350
Crystal. Hello. Can you hear me? So sorry. Yep. Yes. We can hear you now. I had to leave because my two year old will not sleep unless I okay? Mommy, do it. Okay? I'm so sorry. Anyway, I strongly support this resolution. I'm literally hiding outside. I don't even know if my video works. Okay. It's okay. Whatever it is. I appreciate this so much. I can't even tell you. I like, it brings tears to my eyes. So I strongly support this resolution. Thank you so much for protecting our kids' brain health, their cognitive development,

241
02:51:08.350 --> 02:51:44.260
their right to privacy, the right to keep their creative work theirs, not for some tech pro to use for an LLM, and their voice to be or their voice to be recorded for some product that we currently use called the NERA. Not us. But, you know, we use a lot of products like this probably. So I appreciate this so much. And but I wanna say one thing. The opt out option, my only concern is that parents in the know like me will opt out, and parents not in the know can't. So that's the only thing we need to be oh my god. I'm literally in the dark. I Okay. Just wanna be mindful of.

242
02:51:44.260 --> 02:52:32.445
That's all I have to say, in the future moving forward around this conversation. But thank you so much for everything you guys do. You're amazing. Thank you. The tone. Thank you. Any other hands raised? I don't see any other hands raised from the attendees. Do we have any in the interpretation room? No questions. Bless you. Thank you. So I have one addition Mhmm. Potentially, Nadia, is, I wanted to kind of see if we could add a line calling for the DOE to review our curriculum and add tech innovators to see which integrations they've already

243
02:52:32.985 --> 02:53:12.850
put into their systems and databases as well. So then under the name of being involved as an analyst? Yeah. So, like, IXL and a couple of other things we've already talked about, they're very cool. And so I think it's worth a review and kind of using our our buying power to get it turned off. So that would be the number eight. Yep. Number eight. Is this the review of one room? Right? Let's see. Can you just look at that or not here? Oh, it'll be both. Because we have we have both on the contract.

244
02:53:12.850 --> 02:54:06.400
Yeah. It'll be both. So that would be number eight. Are you okay with that addition? I am. Okay. Nadia is okay with that addition. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Our current, like, contracts and programs. And then what would you ask them? Do you, like, after they review it, they've identified? They've identified that there would be, like, an opt out. Perfect. Yeah. And provide that information to the coverage. Right. And then you don't even know how it happens right now. Yeah. Okay. Thank you. So, Nadine agreed with that. I do see there's some comments in the q and a. Be sure if you wouldn't mind me to know.

245
02:54:06.400 --> 02:54:37.610
Patty McGowan asked, where can we find resolution two zero eight? I don't see it under c c thirty's resolution web page. We dropped it in the chat for download. I thought it was on our web page. It was. So we'll be working with our provider to get that back up. So if you're on our distribution list, we, send these notices and we attach it as well. So I'm not sure if you are, but feel free to email us at c e c thirty at what was that? Yeah. Cec30@schoolsatschools.gov. And we'll dot gov. NYC dot gov, and we'll be happy to add you onto our distro list so that you can

246
02:54:37.610 --> 02:55:14.840
receive these notices with the amendments attached to the agenda. Okay. But we're working with our webmaster system. Yep. William at the end of birth, and it's not your last name. I didn't see that as issue two zero eight. So I haven't been able to read it yet, but I do know that the AI industry is changing wholesale every six months. The council will be open to a one year moratorium and reevaluate the issue on an annual basis. What is allotted for a two year versus a one year moratorium? Nadia, I don't know if you wanna Yeah. If you wanna speak to that? Yeah. I mean, because I think this is for the scanner that's asking for the two years more. Yeah. It's just that

247
02:55:51.125 --> 02:56:24.525
Yeah. Thank you, Maria. And last speaking to, I guess, resolutions at large, I was just wondering what happens once resolutions are passed. How do they end up getting to the next step towards district or citywide action? This issue feels so Oh, well, I can speak to that. So we send a resolution to New York City Public Schools. They recently sent us a response. However, this is not the end of the road, but we do invite all of our parents not just to support these resolutions here at our CEC meetings, but also please please please, again, the panel for education policy meeting. They take place in every borough.

248
02:56:24.745 --> 02:56:58.210
This is the official board with an official vote. They are the ones that sit at the table with the chancellor. So you can bring these resolutions to their meetings and advocate there as well. Also, please speak with your city council member. Even those on the education committee and city council, chair Benowitz, you can speak with him. Attend these hearings. Advocate for this. Not only doing these things, we also send these regulatory to our lawmakers, city and state so that we can gain some movement traction on, getting laws put in place that help deal these policies out.

249
02:56:58.210 --> 02:57:38.305
So, yes, the resolution is a start. This is how we advocate. CEC is an advisory board, but this is not the end all be all. So yeah. Reach out to Senator Gonzalez as well. Mhmm. Tristan Gonzalez. Yes. She's doing a lot on technology and AI. Yeah. And she represents our district. And you said that's it regarding this resolution, Sabrina. We want a motion. Yep. I'd like to put a motion. I'd like no. I'd like to move that we vote for resolution, two zero eight with the proposed changes. Do I have a second? Check it out. Okay. Time for the well called vote.

250
02:57:38.385 --> 02:58:17.420
Linda Chung Leon. In favor. Okay. I need to So I thought you I'll just call in Garcia. Alexis, how you need it? In favor. Daniela Pressley. Hey. Victoria Medelius. Yeah. Stella Nacuba. Favor. Marlene Rossi. Did she make a pay? She didn't make a break yet. Oh, man. Nadia Saeed. Hey, Laura. Excuse. Kayla Spence. In favor. And Whitney Tucson. In favor. Thank you so much for all of your hard work. Alright. And the next item on the agenda is the second and final public agenda in this time. Now we invite anyone in the room. If you like to say anything,

251
02:58:17.420 --> 02:59:08.555
you can call the iPad, get your name and connection to the. Do you have the limit? Don't have anyone in the room. Anyone in the Zoom room, please feel free to raise your hand. And while we are waiting, do we have anyone from the Interpretation Room? No questions. Thank you. Nothing in Spanish room either. Okay. And I don't see any hand raised. Do we have anything in the q and a? Well, Barbara, Barbara, Hader, asked, miss Hidalgo, regulations state clearly that only the superintendent can overturn elections. Can you please elaborate? Thank you.

252
02:59:09.060 --> 02:59:55.995
Followed by, it is the language in a six sixty, page 17. Thank you. So when it it's not it's the superintendent's office, and it's it's so I yes. I it's my face, but I'm not the one necessarily that's the, same. It's in collaboration and in conjunction with this. Thank you. I don't I still don't see any hands raised, and I don't see anything else in the q and a. Mm-mm. Okay. But we don't have any other, participants in the second public agenda and speaking time. Move it to announcements?

253
02:59:55.995 --> 03:00:29.745
Yeah. I'd like to move it to go to announcements. Okay. So the next c c thirty calendar meeting, date is to be determined during our business meeting coming up next, which people can observe and not speak. There will be at 6PM because it's our annual calendar and business meeting. It will be at PSD 98, the Hector Figueroa School at 6901 34th Avenue in Woodside, New York. And the next panel for educational policy meeting is on Wednesday, June 17 at 6PM at the Prospect Heights campus, 883 Claston Avenue in Brooklyn,

254
03:00:29.745 --> 03:01:17.635
New York. So at this time, it is 09:40. I again, we're gonna have our business meeting. That's just for observers only. There's no public comment during that time, and it's 09:40PM. I'd like to make a motion to adjourn and get a second, please. I can't. Alright. Get the seven minutes break, guys. One. Seven minutes. Thank you. Thanks, Evan. Okay. Minutes. Thank you. Alright. Thank you, everyone. We are reconvening for our business meeting. It is 09:52PM. Victoria, would you mind calling Rose? Sure. Linda Tang Young, president. Solchi Bowen Dorsley. Present. Alexis Caliognides.

255
03:01:17.775 --> 03:01:56.300
Present. Danielle LaPresse Lee. Present. Victoria Medeli is present. Estela Nigguma. Present. Carline Rossi. I thought we had a chat. Nadia Fahey present. Laura Simpson's excused. David Spence. Present. Thank you. Present. Alright. So the first thing we're gonna do is the acceptance of minutes. Did everyone get a chance to hear the minutes? Mhmm. If you have any other edits, please send them to Leslie. We will get them done for April and May. Mhmm. I would like to, change the agenda for tonight and remaining and get consensus for everyone because we do have to be out of the school really quickly.

256
03:01:56.840 --> 03:02:36.750
I would like to, move that we reconvene the rest of the agenda items absent the vote for the July meeting Mhmm. To a committee of the whole. And do I have a second? Oh, I just need consent. I just need consent. Consent. Yep. Yes. Alright. So, the next item since we are doing that, and, officially, we are moving the, the rest of the meeting schedule both to our July annual meeting. The speaker series, know your rights, all of that. The other items, four through, nine to the committee as a whole. So I would now like to get consensus on our July meeting.

257
03:02:36.990 --> 03:03:11.955
Victoria, what is our proposed date? July 13. Monday, July 13 at 6PM. And that keeps the meeting cadence the meeting schedule cadence that we are having. So July 13, is everyone okay for July 13 at 6PM at P S 398? Yes. Alright. So, everyone, we will see you all, July I think. '13. Third Lord Jesus. Thirteenth. Thirteenth. Let me get it right. Thirteenth. Yes. 6PM because it is our annual meeting. Annual meeting is where we vote for officers, and the rest of the meeting schedule cadence and the budget.

258
03:03:12.335 --> 03:03:51.185
We have to have a quorum at that meeting because we need to vote at least to release the funds on the initial budget because we by having food at the meeting. We're, like, paying for Zoom at the meeting. So, please, we have to have an in person forum. Alright? I will not. I will be honest. It's alright. Join virtually. For everybody else, y'all better be here. Mhmm. Alright. So thank you. Move that we adjourn at 09:55PM so that we can let I at 02:35 get out on time. Mhmm. Oh, we also have to discuss, the superintendent To evaluate all. Evaluation.

259
03:03:51.380 --> 03:04:17.364
So please, everyone, read the guidance that was sent out to the committee of the whole that will have to be discussed at executive session. We can also have a workshop in the interim to go over that if I remember. Victoria and I can discuss any questions that you have. We can send out a Google poll about the day to do that. I'd appreciate that. Okay. So thank you, everyone. I would like to, hope that we adjourn again at 09:55PM. Yeah. Yes. Nice and nice.
