THERE IS A POINT WHEN THE COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION BETWEEN DID DISTRICT PLANNERS AND STAKEHOLDERS BREAKDOWN, WE WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE IN DOUGLAS COUNTY EDUCATORS ARE AT A CLEAR DISADVANTAGE IN THIS PROCESS COMPARED TO THOSE IN J JEFFCO OR LITTLETON WE DON'T HAVE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING OR CONTRACT. THAT OUTLINES THE PROCESS IT'S A FRUSTRATING CYCLE FOR US EDUCATORS THE DISTRICT HAS AN ISSUE TO ADDRESS AND WE HAVE TO CREATE NEW PERIMETERS FOR COLLABORATION EVERY TIME. AND SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS HERE DEGENERATED INTO FOOD FIGHTS BECAUSE SOME OF THE BOARD MEMBERS RESENTED BEING ASKED QUESTIONS BY THE PUBLIC ABOUT WHAT THE HELL THEY WERE DOING. AND TEACHERS BEGAN LEAVING OUR SCHOOLS IN DROVES. WHY? BECAUSE THERE IS MORE RESPECT FOR TEACHERS IN CHERRY CREEK AND OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS. AS YOU KNOW IF YOU ARE PAIRING PAYING ATTENTION TEACHER RETENTION DATA WHICH WE ARE ALL CONCERNED ABOUT. WHILE I APPRECIATE THE RECENT EFFORTS TO REMOVE SOLUTION ROOMS THEY HARMFUL PRACTICES PERSIST IN PRACTICE. TO FULFILL OUR MISSION WE NEED COMPREHENSIVE STAFF TRAINING, OVERSIGHT TO INSURE TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY WHEN SCHOOLS FAIL TO MEET STUDENT' NEEDS WHY CHILD DESERVE SECOND DEGREE BETTER. THIS WAS A CRITICAL STEP IN ADDRESSING THE UNIQUE CHALLENGES CHANGES PHASED BY STUDENT WITH DISABILITY. THE COMMUNITY HAS NOT RECEIVED AN UPDATE ON PROGRESS. WE FEEL THAT STUDENT WITH DISABILITIES ARE NOT MEETING EXPECEXPECTAEXPECTATIONS IN READ WRITING ON THE S.A.T. AND ONLY APPROACHING EXPECTATIONS IN MATH. THIS HIGHLIGHTS AN ALARM ACADEMIC GAP FOR THIS GROUP. WE ARE ASKING THE BOARD TO PRIORITIZE TRANSPARENCY AND PROVIDE REGULAR UPDATES ON THE STATUS OF THE SPECIAL EDUCATION INITIATIVE. FOR YEARS WE HAVE SEEN THE HARMFUL IMPACTS OF SECLUSION AND CAREER STRAIGHT AND SOUGHT BETTER ALTERNATIVES IT'S ENCOURAGING TO SEE DCSD'S BOE TALKING PROACTIVE, TAKING PROACTIVE STEPS TO REVISE THEIR POLICY IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT MAKING CHANGES ON PAPER. IT'S ABOUT INSURING A SAFER, MORE RESPECTFUL ENVIRONMENT FOR EVERY STUDENT. THIS UPDATE SHOWS THE DISTRICT IS PAYING ATTENTION. WE BELIEVE THIS IS A TRUTH STEP TOWARDS CREATING A MORE SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT AND HOPE THE CONVERSATIONS CONTINUE TO IMPROVE OUTCOMES FOR STUDENTS. COLORADO REMAINS ONE OF ONLY SEVEN STATES WITHOUT A STATEWIDE DYSLEXIA SCREENER. LEGISLATION FOR MANDATORY SCREENER HAS STALLED FOR SEVEN YEARS. WHILE WE ARE STILL WAITING ON THE STATE TO ACT, IT'S PROMISING THAT THIS SATURDAY'S B BOE HE TREAT INCLUDED CONVERSATION OF A DYSLEXIA SCREENER WE WITNESSED PUSH BACK UNDERSTANDABLY SHOW CONSIDERING THE COST AND LOGISTICS ESPECIALLY IN A YEAR WHICH THE DISTRICT IS FACING A $16 MILLION BUDGET CUT UNTIL STATE CUTS. BUT HERE IS THE REALITY. THE LONGER SCHOOLS WAIT TO INTERVENE THE GREATER THE COST BOTH FINANCIALLY AND EMOTIONALLY FOR STUDENTS. EARLY IDENTIFICATION OF DYSLEXIA CAN MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE. WHERE WE TALKED ABOUT LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES, SCHOOL READINESS AND THE MAJORITY OF THE MEETING WAS SPENT TALKING ABOUT DYSLEXIA. JUST SO THAT THEY CAN FULFILL THAT PRIORITY AND WE CAN NEXT YEAR DISCUSS IF THAT IS SOMETHING THAT WE STILL WANT THEM FOR TOKE, OUR WHICH I THINK IT'S GOOD WE ARE INVOLVING THEM TO PRIORITIES. I DID REMIND ALL OF THEM TO HAVE THEIR KIDS TAKE STANDARDIZED TESTS. SO AND DO ENCOURAGE EVERYBODY ELSE TO DO SO. BECAUSE WE TALKED ABOUT THAT AT THE LAST MEETING. THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE MONTH WAS THAT I GOT TO ATTEND THE EAGLE ACADEMY GRADUATION LAST FRIDAY. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THAT GARAGE SITUATION IS THEY ALWAYS FAIL TO BRING ME ENOUGH KLEENEX. YI THAT HAD BEEN DISCUSSION SHE WAS A LIAISON I GLAMMED I GOT THERE IN TIME SHE WAS THE FIRST FOR WRESTLE. IT WAS GOOD TO SEE SOMETHING LIKE THAT ON TOP OF THAT I AM JUST IMPRESSED WITH THEIR SPORTSMANSHIP. IN WRESTLING AND THE WAY THAT THEY ARE WITH THE COACHES, THE STUDENT GREET THE OTHER COACHES. FROM THE OPPOSING TEAM, I WAS JUST IMPRESSED WITH THE CAMARADERIE AND THEY WERE BOYS ON ONE MAT AND THE GIRLS OVER ON THE OTHER. I HAD A SAG MEETING LAST NIGHT AND AND MR. KHALIL AND MR. BLARE WERE THERE AND GAVE A GRIT PRESENTATION ON SOCIAL MEDIA OUR KIDS WERE ENGAGED AND HAD REALLY GOOD QUESTIONS. SO THANK YOU.
