something can you hear me Mr Veri yes you can great so I I what do I say right 10 years Mr linsky's been with me uh she's considered family we have been through so much together um she made me that much better of a superintendent she kept me in line she's my work wife of course but I will tell you that going through curriculum policies and regul ations um our our um comprehensive Equity plan which is a very lengthy report the Civil Rights report that we have human resources running Human Resources um a person that was able to run three departments but just one person uh Karen delinsky um I I I gonna miss her greatly we've been through three qack reviews together fires evacuations uh Cur um security matters sport school bond referendum passing it going out three times doing all the L work behind the scenes uh working through construction um walking me back off the ledge many many times Transportation matters uh you name it she's been there she has really never ever SK SK to beat but one thing that makes her different than the rest is she truly understood me and as a superintendent one of the hardest things to do is to find that just right person just like we children just the right book right just the right fit well she was the right book for me um she was able to help guide me move me along the lines but she knew me like I said as a person she knew about my health she knew about um everything even in my own individual family um which really helped me to help ground me and make the very critical decisions that I needed to make throughout any given school year and 10 years is a long time together and we didn't even get divorced which was pretty good after 10 years but I I would be remissed if I didn't personally and publicly thank um the boards of Education in the past to align Karen to me I appreciate that uh the current board and all the support but one thing I want to personally thank is the delinsky family they have shared Karen with me day in and day out Mr delinsky I know you're out there Mike um I I I took your wife away from you many many month many weeks and days and hours and a lot of times Karen and I were communicating at 2 o'clock in the morning 3 o'clock in the morning 5:30 in the morning Karen was always available Karen didn't know any vacations holidays weekends uh there was no hours for Karen delinsky um and she will truly be missed um it's G to be very big shoes to fill um but I will tell you that I might be losing an administrative assistant but I am gained a friend for life and um I will miss you deeply without getting emotional Karen but I will definitely miss you and uh hope to be in touch with you after 18 days when we can talk thank you for everything your professionalism well said she said thank you I don't the record address the board president each person wishing to speak will have five minutes anyone wishing to speak will given will be given the opportunity to do so okay okay seeing none I close public comments committee reports uh Mr verace thank you madam president members of the board uh just a few things I want to report on since last week pf2 approval of District use of facilities application we received an application from the East Rutherford uh Recreation Department on January 21st for use of facilities for McKenzie Lincoln and Fa for uh baseball and softball we have dates starting in February until March till the end of March on to finance items F5 the approval of the financial reports for December 2024 our Treasurer um has reconciled our our accounts and we're in good standing F6 approval trans for report for December 2024 uh once again the district is where we need to be in terms of trans of internal transfers for the month F7 approval of agreement with delt T Group New Jersey Inc for the 2024 2025 school year I know there have been um some questions this is just a backup an alternative to Kelly education uh we're not the only District but many districts uh suffer trying to find uh adequate substitutes and this is just another vehicle another vendor uh that we can utilize in the future if we're ever short-handed and Kelly education cannot come through so that's the reason for Delta t uh f8 is the approval of investment to insured uh he sweep uh reciprocal deposits so with this with F9 what we're what I'm I'm sorry not F9 f8 sorry is we are we are asking the board to approve we are taking give me one second I'm going to go to the resolution is we're asking a motion to approve the reinvestment of funds from the general fund specifically that these funds originate from the capital projects account we have various accounts so the capital projects account and the interest rate that we're going to earn on this is 4.25 right now the interest that we're earning on the general account is in the area of 3.7 so we're earning about half a percent more so uh I did my research spoke to some U my colleagues and they highly recommended this so I'm I'm asking the board to to support the decision to reinvest the spe these specific funds which are from the capital projects uh at a higher interest rate uh F9 is bills list number two thank you Mr Banker again as always and F10 is the approval of providers for tuition extra ordinary Services contract and agreements for the 2024 2025 school year this is where Bergen County Special Services it is not to exceed $1,360 for a teacher of the deaf and heart of hearing for the for the remainder of the school year any discussion yeah sure you have a question yes regarding the delta T how much of a layover like a how often do we use their services in comparison to Kelly because they both do similar things right corre from my understanding yes so do we use the Delta frequently or do we use Delta more than Kelly no we we want to enter into an agreement with them so we can use them as an alternative so if Kelly can't come through we can go to delta T oh so we have not utilized them before okay to my know I don't know we've had like prior going back in time I and I know that we had like uh for nursing Services one for a while it was like exclusively that and I think it is just I think it's just like backup in case we you know through Kelly it's not yeah could be for power professionals uh ltc's bcpa so they have uh a variety of professionals if if needed yes we have not contracted with them so far this year no not this year' done so in the past but not this year so it sounds like they offer more services than Kelly does right that I can't say yes or no I mean I know Kelly is our primary provider of substitute teachers and our AIDS um so like I said we are using delta T as really as a backup Kelly education so if Kelly education can't come through and delta T says yes we have uh a vast amount of let's say power professionals say power professionals absent we can call Delta T instead of using Kelly education is it frequently that we don't have enough Subs through Kelly does that happen I don't have that data in front of me how I mean we do the best we can yeah I mean the fill rate is pretty high yeah but um especially for par professionals and um in our self-contained classrooms we don't always get um coverage for those AIDS because the experience is very specific for those classrooms so delt T has uh staff that's trained in that area so that if we ever need to pull upon them to cover those classes when we have PS that are out we can utilize that service but yes it's difficult sometimes to to to fill the the sub um you know AB the absences of our teachers and our professionals so this is a backup service that and also for nursing as well we have one medically uh fragile student who requires nursing Services if that agency that we contract with does not have a nurse or that nurse goes on vacation and they can't find anyone then the owners falls on the district to find backup services and so um this gives us another um Avenue to explore if we ever need those services okay thank you madam president I just have one question also um with the delta T is is there contracted rates uh I I don't is there an attachment I didn't see anything yes there are are rates depends on the position yes yes yes all depends on the position as correct I don't see an attachment yeah I didn't see an attachment I was just wondering like because we're approving the agreement is the agreement in here or pull that up hold on if seven is yes no because right now I'm because I think it was there and then because if I'm looking at my computer it says your au Authentication to the server has been lost it we may not have I see our full I see two attachments oh um okay I don't know see the positive negative balances in the building of ground report yeah I know sometimes that happens you know sometimes hours not to exceed 750 hours so yeah they sent me two different things one was just for power professionals and then sent then they sent me another document with more information with other I I mean I can share from personal experience that I've utilized them and they've been Mr coin you uh approved the you reviewed the contract you know normally what I'll happen is you guys will authorize it up to the amounts and then I'll look at the contract and I haggle with them over some of the legal terms that's in there uh which is fine to do if there's a problem that we won't we won't sign you what I mean and I have haggled with these guys over over the years on things like indemnification and um you know you have to have all the background check language in there and all that kind of stuff so um you know that's normally we've done it with them and what's the other nursing um b b the Pediatrics okay yeah so if if there's a problem it won't it won't get Sol okay thank you anything else just can you uh somebody tell me what is the cost again for delta T it depends on the position oh okay but it's but 500 why I right 750 hours $7,500 and do we know Kelly's substitute what do we paying Kelly substitute again do we know that offand no like a service fee for this like are we no adulty no no okay no for example I'm finding something power professionals $28 an hour one to one teacher Aid $28 an hour they have registered nurses $58 an hour job coach uh ldtc so they have different positions and and the hourly rate for 2425 prepare for our school district ABA therapist all that anything else okay thank you Mr verace you're welcome um superintendent report uh Dr King doson okay so this will be very brief uh student enrollment to date McKenzie school 381 students enrollment went up by two F School 239 students enrollment remains steady Lincoln School 174 uh we lost three students uh total of 794 students um all fire drill and safe uh security drills were completed for the month of January uh in regards to harassment intimidation and Boolean uh there are no invest there were no investigations so there's really nothing to report out there um we did receive oura accountability profile file um report uh that was embargoed for a while but it has been released to the public so when uh superintendent Jin Casper comes back he'll go over that with the with the board in in more details and that ends the report thank you any discussion okay thank you uh correspondents to members of the Board of Education we had two this month um oneon-one 14 an email from a parent regarding homeschooling and extracurricular activities and then on 116 we got Anonymous letters to the board um which was a Personnel matter um adoption of great so I just want I just I did touch Bas with Erin today and I didn't realize forgot Julian my apologies that you were the chair on that one I did reach out because I was doing a couple of things before the board meeting this evening but one of the things that had come up was the policy I believe was 5116 which happens to be the electronic devices currently after speaking to the administrative team we are quite happy with what we have here where students could bring them to school but they're they're T either left in their locker or away during the course of the school day during instructional time and then of course on their way home to and from to and from school they're able to utilize is that I know that there was um uh some input regarding you know parents using tracking devices for their children to and from school I know trusty men um um Mena had brought that to my attention as well as some other board members um definitely heard and understood so after discussing that with the administrative team we're going to keep it intact because it is not mandated that we change it so we're going to take that off that was taken off of the agenda for your approval this evening um as well as AI we got some more information regarding some of the AI information after discussing with the administrative team we just want to just iron out a couple of other Kinks that are there after speaking to uh supervisor bardi of Technology his head of technology and also honing in on other school districts we are waiting uh again to pass it so I removed it from the policy listing so you will not be approving those two uh policies and regulations as well so one would be electronic communications and the other one would be a i everything else is good to go thank you um any other discussion okay roll call oh you second thank you but I believe she did did you second second yeah I was gonna give it to you but roll call Miss Caruso yes Miss colie yes Miss Mena yes Mr Sanders yes Miss shimley yes Mr B yes and Miss Luso yes and that concludes my report thank you uh finance committee Mr Vana thank you madam president upon the recommendation of the superintendent the board hereby deposits F9 approval of bills list number two January 2025 F10 approval of providers for tuition extraordinary service contracts and agreements for 2024 2025 school year second any discussion I have a question is for the bills list and it's nothing I think I know the answer to this we the verbiage Aiden Lou is that for the transportation I yeah I did I just wanted to confirm thank you yeah and I was gonna I was gonna ask a question about that too seems like do we have more children this year that are that have chosen to go out of District as opposed to staying here and by law if they apply we District Technologies to ensure the safety and security of our data and information systems planning of scheduled maintenance and improvements for the 2425 school year is ongoing including meetings with our consultant to schedule scans and testing Protocols are continuing to be updated to best meet the security needs of the district and scans are nearing completion budgeting for the 25 26 school year is underway initial meetings were held to discuss all anticipated purchases renewals um ET to support District infrastructure programming and Technology needs as we progress through the budget cycle the technology team continues to ensure the technology and support needs for all students and staff are considered when evaluating items and services for purchase the 2425 school year sees the continuation of the annual technology fee to help support technology programs within the district all students throughout the district will need the fee to be satisfied alongside their acceptable use and damage agreements in order to use and take possession of District owned technology the district has added pay school Central as a payment servicing provider for these fees and parents are encouraged to create accounts for all district financials if they have not already done so the district continues to use Genesis to share and collect data from families through the forms portal to allow for efficient and paperless Communications forms are updated annually to account for new information the district continues to evaluate varying technology platforms to help support productivity crossing guards were about to leave our post when uh those of us who have school buses uh when a second bus arrived with preschool children um we were not aware of this so um whether it was an oversight in notifying uh the police department who would trickle the information down to Tammy and then to those appropriate busing guards who are involved with the buses or whether there was a lack of communication somewhere along the line um I just want to make that that clear that uh anytime there's anything going on with transportation that involves uh the police and the crossing guards please uh notify the police department because we're all here for the safety of the kids okay thank you thank you okay at this time we're going to adjourn to Executive session um we may be taking okay all right so I'll do that all over again all right we have a walk on resolution f11 be it resolved upon the recommendation of the superintendent that the east Rutherford Board of Education approves the agreement with Varsity Tutors for schools from January 207th 2025 until May 16th 2025 not to exceed $3 38,768 again we were in there for an hour discussing Varsity Tutors again um so this decision again does not come very lightly um we want our teachers to do the tutoring we value in-person tutoring uh Mr Jean CASRO has stayed in numerous times in our meetings um that if it weren't for the teachers our test scores wouldn't be as good as they are okay so that being said at this point we feel like as a board we have exhausted every route that we possibly could at this point we've asked teachers to come forward numerous times we've reached out to the association to offer 65 um an increase in pay for the tutors um without getting any responses back we looked for companies that would come to the school to offer tutoring they could not accommodate us um so at this point we are bringing it up again for a vote because we want to see our students get what they need and if they need this tutoring to succeed I feel like this board that's the de that's the way we have to go um any other discussion no roll call Miss guso okay so before I vote do I support online tutoring absolutely not however I had wished the the teachers came forward even with the additional hourly rate I wish we were told no one came forward I wish they had so I'm here for the kids I'm here for the teachers but I'm here for the kids also and at this point kids need to be tutored so my vot is yes Miss colie yes Miss Mana Mr Sanders yes Miss Shenley yes Mr Banker yes and Miss laruso yes walkon resolution passes 70 okay um at this time our next Board of Education meeting will be held on Thursday February 13th 2025 at 6: p.m. uh motion to adjourn sove second all in favor I I any opposed motion adjourned
