forestry management plan and green communities Grant uh the grant for the management plan has been submitted um and we are just awaiting official word on the award it's my understanding that looks pretty good and most likely that we'll we'll get it um but we just can't act on it until it's official okay okay uh so we're waiting a award letter soon and I want to uh special thanks to Bonnie and Deputy clerk Larson for helping out with that uh Grant and getting it all done together greatly appreciate it moving on aome welcome yeah did you play a role in this editing no something else okay that's you can't you just can't you got to get on you just you can't that's the thing just said like a half an hour ago know I got it s I was like oh so we're um we should be in good shape again once uh everything's in place I'll I'll reach back out to uh Mr Brash and um we purchase order Cut and we'll be able to ground roll does he know is he holding a spot for us um I don't think well I don't know if he's not just saying everybody doing it right yeah I guess so yeah I may I'll reach out to him tomorrow just say hello remind him Christy would that be a that right to do I don't want to well you said you were recommending I forgot the last question I mean we recommended we we were going to go with him so we're just waiting for payment either way I guess at the end of the day had aond with him as far as and you told him he was our choice oh yeah oh we definitely told him we were forward he said he was anxiously awaiting the inventory data to start looking into it but again we can't really send it until yeah you don't want to you don't want to do that because yeah get picked off and that's the end of it right well it just doesn't count right yeah extra work for nothing um so that's the update so we're just in a holding pattern I'm hopeful by next meeting we'll have something to act on good that's great congratulations Chris um all right spring resident tree bu program yeah so um not nothing really super concrete um I I in carespa with Tanya um we will go on the same schedule as last year so targeting uh a March ordering time frame that will get them the orders by the end of March and then they would plan to plant again in May um wrapped up in this uh which we have alluded to and talked about a little bit is um expanding the possibility of doing Memorial plantings along the Third Street Trail which they are okay with so I think that we need to kind of Flesh that out a little bit more um but also within that conversation there is um the possibility that we could start a true like Memorial tree program which they are open to which would be separate from the resident tree buying program completely Bonnie I spoke about this a little bit on some ideas of kind of um identifying locations in the town that could support a tree and kind of making that available like that could be a way that we would actually um present it to Residents like you know these are the areas where trees you know you can choose to plant a tree these are the possibilities within that area the type of tree that would be planted um so that's that's one proposal that we would think about which I'll discuss further with um burbrook um but then I think that the biggest question that we have to answer or one of the biggest questions we have to answer is how we are going to offer a recognition of this tree like is it black like like that aspect of it I think really needs some thought um because you know there's a cost associated with it obviously that's something that would have to go before Council for approvals and we're putting a label and a back on something this you know in theory is going to be on public property who's who is going to be responsible for the maintenance of the tree in the first year and Beyond um so these are all kind of things that we need to flush out so um you know I'm going to talk to them about um if they've done this with other pounds um and then get some of their recommendations and thoughts and then we could kind of develop that into like a a sister program of the resident tree buying program I mean obviously we want to start this small um and have a much more formulated um Action Plan before we brought it before Council but I think it's a great opportunity to kind of put more trees in the ground and it's something that residents have been asking for so sure absolutely would be in a different planting schedule or purchase yes I think it would be I think it would be I mean not necessarily a different time of year it just wouldn't be planting on the same day as the resinate tree buying program because that's like different right um private property and stuff like that so these would require you know I think we would have to get all the locations approved you know and then um whatever that you know whatever that means you know the markouts and stuff of course would be done by FBR but kind of like reserving these spots or locations um and May and that could evolve I mean in my mind maybe in 2025 we offer 10 spots or something like that and and see how it goes and then you know and I I would picture us doing this once a year to to like kind of get it going but um you know if anybody has any ideas or suggestions and you want to throw them in the ring like I would say just individually email me not the whole group you know what I was just thinking the um Brian M and the Manasquan you the shore yeah shade tree meeting is on the 18th February 18th um I don't know I mean they're the ones that started the resident tree buying so I wonder if they have anything I was going to go um everybody's welcome to go um but I can ask if anybody else has done something like thisan didn't asked him that too I don't think I'm gonna be able to go to that but um yeah no I mean when you're there I like there's more people I you know F Brooks they're moving their offices right now so they're kind of like she's like I don't want to talk to you so she's like I'll call you when I'm ready um anyway that that's kind of the next the next evolution of the relationship that we could possibly have with ver and brooka they've been good partners to us so far and not only us but you know other other community groups within Fair Haven so um I can't see why this wouldn't be something worth trying sure great idea that's great it um what so they've done a few right we few Memorial trees people lost some right what do they have they taken it upon themselves to water them and at this time well they have because it's on the Third Street Trail well I mean in theory either they have or you know the the Bonnie the Bonnie water yeah um well I mean the um Garden Club of Fair Haven um last year the president watered it all the time and was one of the members who passed away um so she was very diligent took care of the tree and it's doing very well I think that there's something I think that you know somebody that is taking that step to plant a tree in memory or in Memorial has vested interest in caring for it I agree um so you know it's just a question of making that how could we make that easy to do you know um or help or Aid them in doing that like you know dragging gallons of water down the street isn't awesome no so that's something to think about yeah no it's a great idea I wonder if there's any opportunity for um um you know again you involve kids and I know there's probably a whole other level of could be liability but I mean kids I mean obviously kids can want to trade but once it becomes a public thing could there be a volunteer aspect of it chrisy I was just thinking about like the what Liam does right he signed up for shoveling you know like so I wonder if there's there there could be some kind of plan like that it be a good neighbor over the summer yeah that's going to be tough yeah we're go to the beach got to go what are these trees just just something well getting somebody that lives close to where the trees is planting sure or even just made even someone close to where the trees planted saying that you could go ahead and use my hose exactly is is huge yes for sure why is um so anyway uh that that's what's going on there so I I would assume by March when we're here again like we will have our list of trees and be ready to launch um the spring program um and and we'll have more information about great sounds good yeah all right thank you Jill uh moving on Green Team Natural Area update um okay the Natural Area is continuing to work on the northwest corner um just just signed another um order with weeds Inc they're going to come back um and do some spot treatment for they see any big problem weeds coming back and they're going to overseed um areas that Miss They Se it last fall um so we'll see how this comes back um but we did plant those other Evergreens in there I mean it'll be interesting to see what happens at the church property I mean it's kind of like this I don't know if anybody knows what she B his property and has a affordable housing overlay and I don't know what's going to happen there so it's an nextra neighbor um so um and they are considering maybe um they discussed putting the Third Street Trail under that umbrella because right now we are the orphan child oh one umbrella the Natural Area oh okay just taking over yeah I mean they're they're different right they're different you know one is really well travel bikes and everything else and as trees and I I don't know there's just a little bit debate between some members um if it's actually a natural area but I think makes more sense than having the wreck is I think it do it's falling through the cracks nobody really has paid any attention to it so um I I'm hoping that the natural are decides to um take over um we are trying to arrange a speaking of Third Street Trail a volunteer cleanup on March 3rd second second sorry second that's a Sunday um just to do some fine pulling and you know okay um I think Mark is going to go to e to get that approved um the Green Team um we are thinking that love where you live day is going to be April 27 that's the um Sunday ending Earth week um it's on the calendar for May 3rd but we were thinking about moving it up um and considering having it on Willow Street where the farmers market is um and then having a car parking store to and the the kids at sickles will be flopping up the garden that we planted last year so hopefully we can have that as a little display for them to show up and maybe do some um displays in marter park I don't know what's going to be happen in the playground then but I know that Grant was just submitted for the new playground um and there the green team is going to have the Sports Swap again um sometime in April um they work with uh rfh and Rumson so they're just they haven't gotten a date set but so save your old sports equipment so and you can bring it and CHP it up and swap um hopefully we been a hope to get uh the sustainable a New Jersey action points with that because it's kind of an Innovative little project that we do this sport SW hope we can do that um and speaking of that Christy has been working hard um we've gotten the EC is it's it's really pretty much been the Green Team doing all the work on sanal Jersey but the EC has really taken up the um cause this year um Sean Bailey asked everybody to take uh action so hopefully we will get to um we have to have um 150 points by February 23rd which I think should be fine then we have another cut off in May and I mean we're I think we'll definitely get to Silver recertification again but um you see would like to go for gold which is there's only six municipalities in the state that are gold there are um 63 are silver like us and then there are 468 that participated in Jersey so who were some of the golds um you know what I don't have that it's it's um there's nobody really yeah there's nobody around here sure Princeton um you know what I I should have that list but um I'll find that um so anyway we're working on that um hopefully we'll get a lot of tree points there are a lot of tree points out there um righted 20 points today good yay Christie look at that and that's for which which actions uh Energy Efficiency we track all the utility usage in all of the town's buildings um and we put it in a system or I do I basically just take bills put them in a system and it calculates your how efficient you are which is kind of like interesting right now since a couple of the buildings are being redone so we can compare after the fact good you get 20 points for that maintaining that database usage the thing about San Jersey is there's a lot of things that we already do it's just that nobody's really tracked or so it kind of gets you on like you know your town better because you're tracking all these things and you're thinking about opportunities to be more sustainable um like I know Sean is going to look at the fleet of cars and it's like well we eventually every time I see a policeman sitting there just W waiting for someone to speed or be on their phone and they're burning gas so if those were just electrified you know the ones that are sitting there that don't have to give Chase or whatever um think all the fumes that wouldn't be spaling out and so there's things like that um and uh let's see so I toed The Shore area theat committee meeting is um on the 18th that's a Tuesday at 6 o'cl at Manasquan burrow Hall on the second floor everybody's welcome I'm plan on going and I um reached out to my friend in Little Silver and she the two people on the little silver sheet here are going to join us um it's uh you know it's mostly it's a lot of short CHS Atlantic Highlands is in it right now but they'd love to get everybody involved um and I think they'll be interested to hear how little Silvers Tre orance is working um so I think that's my reports I added on the short tra I added on the Shore area shade tray to my reports good yeah all right thank you Bonnie moving on to community outreach uh yes so um to um uh start I met with the green team at nollwood and the kids were so cute they were lovely um I talked about you know our initiatives as an organization and and um why it's important to have community outreach and social media and uh the kids were adorable they made posters for us to put around town I laminated them um and we're GNA I have one more I'm going to post it on social but I have one more that this kid made digitally and it was really good so I don't want to leave his out so I will get that as soon as like can and then I'll um and then H Cassie Conley and I are going to go around town and ask local places to put them up okay um and we got some more followers from that we're up to 215 y'all nice nice flew through that 200 it was a wild to get to that 200 now we're was like nice anyway uh so that was good I was like kids if you're some of you were 13 you're on Instagram yeah and then some of their parents started F us which I appreciated um and then uh uh I know this goes under Arbor Day but M's not here I said I would reach out to the art teacher at newwood about asking him because we didn't have a lot of Engagement for the Arbor Day poster contest um last year but I I spoke with the um with the art teacher at nolwood and he said he will try to incorporate it into the art classes so that they could do it then and also the art Club um and then he suggested for prizes I know Mike's not here but I can email him um suggested maybe some restaurants because the kids are always talking about food as one of the prizes um so uh hopefully we'll get a little more from that if they're going to dedicate art art time to making po sure good um I'm trying to think if there's anything else I have I don't believe I I I do all right sounds good scowers give out gift cards be a big hit kids like to buy the Prime oh yeah the prime the drink C goodness and the chicken fried chicken I don't know if you're joking about the fried chicken but have you he I've never heard of yeah they start driving they leave they leave there they get away we don't need to ride our bikes anymore we're going on all right I guess they move on to French market or something um all right moving on to the resident education and awareness so um uh I have done a little bit of work on this and I need to do more I did find out that the signs themselves are probably to run about um 15 bucks a piece um you know I'm thinking of those little you BL signs that you see everywhere um I did a little bit of research I was starting to try to think about what would be um pertinent and and you know I don't want something that's just going to overwhelm anybody I they try to narrow it down to like maybe you know five or at most you know 10 good bullet points um you know it wouldn't be tree specific but just in general I was thinking like you know we could find out information and there is some out there I I did stumble across quite a bit about you know the size of tree and how much uh you know whatever a 30ft tree would how much carbon would capture or how much a 20 foot tree how much you know storm water that can potentially capture so things like that um but then I was just trying to get an idea of cost and how much you know I didn't I wasn't thinking of like a entire town roll out all at once but I was thinking maybe you know I thought maybe 200 signs but even then I thought maybe that was aot a lot yeah once you started like that's actually a lot so maybe I think I think 100 would be a nice comfortable place to start to see if it's makes sense and and it works and we want to make sure we don't end up with a whole bunch of signs just sitting in up in the hallway or in somebody's garage I mean I don't want to like do what I do and just throw things out there and they get put what this idea of like the signs as an education program was almost approached like a scavenger hunt where you would start at a sign and it would give you some tree PS and like it would like lead you somewhere else where you would like then find the additional sign and like kind of learn something there and it kind of like brought you around town to like maybe different important locations with trees which then of course and you're not doing the 100 you probably doing 20 right um but it would kind of force it would encourage people people to kind of like seek out the information and bring them through town I don't know uh like a tree tour through town Tre put it a tree yeah or something like that I mean that could almost be tied in with Arbor Day and um and it would be like I said like you're really talking about a handful of signs at that point in time then you could kind of like I mean and if that's if that's well received you can switch it up I mean and then do another scavenger hunt of trees or a tree hunt or something like that I mean could could be fun I think I um I mean one of the things I I want to do and we all want to do it is make sure that people you know this always came up that um you know we were always con concerned about people you know move into Fair Haven and might not initially appreciate trees right you know we worry about that you know Renovations or new construction that you know they're just not even it doesn't even cross their mind maybe um so what I I also wanted to do I I like that idea because I think it would make people you be able to engage people to wander the town and and check out all the trees but also I wanted enough coverage where people who might be just driving through you know case in the area for a new home you know we plant that seed we want to make sure we plant that seed in our head that you know you're you're considering a town that holds trees in high regard so you know when if they do move in that they're gonna like maybe think about that has somebody for sale a real I like that when I show houses I talk a lot about trees it's good it's good especially in town if all realtor did that it would be huge right know that all yeah well that was one of the things I was thinking about it would be good information and I don't know if you have something readily available but is there a um something that shows uh you know neighborhoods with a lot of trees their home values I don't have 5% 10% more than they do have ADD in Heron value I don't know how it's monetized or if it's monetized do you know what I mean I can ask um an appraiser I know and see if she has any thoughts in terms of like if they how they they have you know they have measurements for all kinds of things so you inherent value that's a like I think it I think it adds yeah I think neighborhoods add Val like if you go into a cookie cutter neighborhood with no trees and you have the same exact neighborhood with trees like true it's going to be like River Oaks you're like yeah I want to big big um so even if people aren't necessarily like they might it feels different it just feels different so um and also it takes forever to grow the trees that's what I say to my clients when I'm showing them a house and there are these giant gorgeous trees and I'm like you can't buy this like you can't replace this like this this has been here for 15 years like yeah you're so lucky buy this house um don't don't cut it down don't he was like do you think I can cut this down I was like no oh Noor amazing I think give Bonnie their address as soon as they ask that question I think Le you put a you put the words to something that I was thinking which is that it is a feeling right it's something that folks don't necessarily recognize as oh well there's a lot of trees here or there there's a lot of old trees here it's just it feels nice so pointing somehow pointing it out that that's what you're feeling it's part of what you're feeling right is um could be valuable for sure I love that idea Betty and like a little treea I mean she's always I was just in there you know talking to her about something and she said you know anything you want me to put in that the the buzz I mean like a tree fat like like little educational like it's just crowded like to be honest crowded with I think there's too much there's too much yeah I mean like quotes I don't know that's just my opinion like you just SC it really quick for like I don't I mean like a date like all that other stuff is just I don't know a lot there's a lot in there um I have a question I don't know if I'm jumping topics here uh but it just occurred to me um when's the next Fair Heaven farmers market do you think we could set up a table oh May 10th it would be nice if we had the people would probably buy trees to a resident tree ping program because they go from table to table and they go oh what's this oh that could definitely be something for the fall program it won't be here in time yeah that's the problem it that's a good idea but you know maybe if we had a table there yeah that's yeah I love it um and the farmers market they go all through summer right we're doing find out when the last one is and see if it or when yeah when when would the date be when is usually the date for ordering in the fall it's August I think or August like July whatever whatever the you know weekend is that they're there in August that would be theoi time to do it I mean it even though it's a summer and usually people are like pieing out to the beach the farmers Market's busy every it is yeah yeah is that still just what one one satary month did I just hear that right that we're talking about possibly advertising the tree buying program during the farmers market is that right yeah okay yeah but not not the not until not the upcoming not the spring one right yeah okay so which leads us we're going to skip over ARB day and go right to the calendar update and we can put that on the calendar it's it's it's going in nice um oh we won't have a meeting so we'll have to remember that too so oh yeah what was that Chris we won't have a July meeting so we'll have to be put it on bring it up in the June meeting okay good we should we have it at the July Market or the August Market will have to be the August one because we won't have the trees that are available in July okay so it's really fine like it it would only have to be one month that we offer it essentially yeah and um so whenever it is in August like we could be prepared for that we this right up on each of the trees and explain why it's so wonderful yeah well that's in the little packet yeah I'll do it okay perfect I will note that in the August uh in August um so for January uh we H we I had put notices out about Resident tree buying program I know that's still in the works Jill so we're I don't think we're quite ready to blast that out to people right no we'll be ready by March because the the um trees will become we'll know what they are by March and that's by yeah okay so that's probably just shouldn't be in January maybe that was a miss miss on me on my part um I think we in there to start talking about maybe to remind me that I needed think it's good um February we had uh for February pick location for tree planting on Arbor Day so I think we just wanted to get ahead of it this year Arbor day is Friday April 25th um so we clearly have time on that but um that was something we had asked oursel our fut yourselves to remember this year um so I don't maybe we put that on the March agenda well come with come repare with some locations for March is that yeah I um so I I actually was attending the um uh Rec committee meeting yesterday Tuesday um because there was a eagle scout presenting for the thsy trail and they had to go before them and so I I asked them if they had if they ever planted trees if they have if that was ever part of their program I always thought of them as being in charge of fairhead and Fields and that maybe they did that I think I I had asked Teresa before if we could plant treat and she was like no um but it it is us that would decide to plant trees at Fair hien Fields sure right yeah so every time I walk by that new cage that is around the the sprinkler system ugly right awkward spot how like came to be yeah it was easy nobody thought yeah um so I was just was thinking if you could put there there's that beautiful row of very old beautiful Pines um but if you put some Evergreen something around that and then on the screen by the tennis courts like as you as you're walking South you know so you go around that ugly box and then you go around a loop and but you can still see the T I just thought some screening there some some Pines some something that would be a spot I think would be great it' be nice I I think and I'm sure this is probably one of the reasons why it got plopped where it did but I'm sure like you need access to it right right so right um right there's a there's a door but I don't that I that you need to look at it um there also would be lines running into it all the sprinkler lines that you would have to take yeah I'm sure it's this so might be not perfect the other things you know this elderly woman came up to me on thursty trail and she was saying how sad it was that those trees that got great big ones along the trail that all got taken out I mean big ones I think it was because of Sandy or some storm I don't know but she said are they ever going to plant trees there I used to love to sit under that tree on a bench and I I think that they're just huge stumps and massive systems right and and trees even kind of like to grow on near other trees like I've had trees grow at stumps I don't that's another place that I think would be great that that path I mean I'm sure people walking rather would appreciate some shade um we can right look we can come up the ideas and I mean obviously those spots we got to get approvals for but there's I think they're good good idea who do we get approve from well Town yes right I mean parks and wck would get involved chrisy no according to them no that's why I asked them I thought that they had jurisdiction over Fair bills they were kind of like now you guys do well we can't just there got to be somebody who's going to weigh in on this one yes they would weigh in I would think you know DPW obviously I mean obviously yeah CH yeah who's going to yeah all the like I said the spring floor lines and things like that um but the a plan the plant whatever number of trees there and then we can pass write AO to counil and the on would typically deliver your message and ask that that location was we usually presume in the past it's like for example we just did the two at um Mar marter and Community Center that memo was drafted and sent that with the math and the markouts and whatever and it was discussed at Council I don't I don't know about discuss but it was this is what it is and I went sign you can't just but there has to be a courtesy of notice guess um yeah and I would assume if Nick or CH anyone in the jurisdiction have issues I think it's also a maintenance thing who's going to take care of the trees well based on the fact that we plant planted um 20 of these Evergreens by the cell tower in December and it has rained it has been perfect it is I think November December is the time to plant trees because it's the storms and it's it's gets them Head Start planted them in May unless there in someone jar and they're going to stand up there and water it yeah it just it's it's a much better yeah time to plant so if we were going to do a big planting I think we should do it in the fall I mean maybe do some for our day but then maybe do a bigger planting um when it's better yeah conditions for yeah I I agree I think also I remember you bought it up maybe we talked about it when we were over there with the one tree and community Center a couple of those trees that path that's along the it's it basically it's the third Baseline of that one field I mean it's just you know that's one of those areas that's just baked in Sun and I I know from being there everybody just sits there in their chairs watching games and just you know cooking and wouldn't they love trees yeah that's another I mean I could could handful of those that I'm chrisan that would be go through Parts your W first on that one I you could have conversations with whoever you want yeah I'm just wondering I don't want I want to know who the first person to like Reach Out The Parks reach out to DJ or reach out to Chris I gu DJ probably that might be a good spot for um Memorial trees because it gets so much visibility no good sure and then there's that line the trees that were taken out by the community center like and the question what they're going to do behind the community Center um I think they're dating that would be that would be nice I I just feel like that area right now is just so when what what's bested complete date do we now couple months it looked like it was coming along there's a punch list so that'll be something that we are going to address this year as mission right is planting there oh there is okay is but is that there is at the OR at DPW oh DPW yeah that's a huge area that's invol oh yeah that's right next meeting you might have some great ideas that' be great the update to make sure he speaks to oh and if he isn't going to be here in next may maybe he could give a email there yeah I think those areas are and um yeah I think one of the like the area at the faer fields I think we could approach maybe you know the thing we're always going to run into no matter what is it's always going to be maintenance it's always going to the water and maintenance of trees that are in out there in random locations and I think you know doing kind of like a slow roll is sometimes a little better if we wanted to plant like a couple early and then do bigger plantings in the fall like I said because I just think I I don't want to I don't want to get in a position where we're like leaning on DPW to the point where they're like ha yeah like I'm not answering this call they're getting the water truck fixed day but I said I said well could could one of us goes no I want to drive the cherry picker there got get right quick prob C that be fun new rules um goet yeah that's okay uh so the the Arbor Day uh tree planting is one thing um I put love where you live on there so we'll have that for next time um we have the resident tree buying program for May and then the other thing I had on was um a quarterly budget check-in which was the the notion of reviewing our budget for the year and then checking in on where we are spending so that we don't we don't end up at the end of the year obviously we're at the beginning of the year but uh so that we're we're kind of keeping Pace with with our spend we know where where we're spending versus our budget so um so maybe that would be a a good thing to put in for maybe March or April something like that well budget yeah I was just going to askr what what is the status of the Town budget did it get passed yet no never does April okay so we're going to be on working off a 10th budget so for example like wants take the core training so that's going to be charged to a temporary budget doesn't mean you can't do stuff you just have to so we're in like approvals and everything like that okay Y and do we know what we have no I I mean I our cap was what 2% above the prior year so I mhm Max it out yeah we also put thank you Chris thank you yeah really you know we can squeeze a couple extra bucks out we so what do we totally have we have the commuted pill money and what is it again the total and then 2% over what we had last year um I forget the exact numbers um what you and then we as in addition all about the community for management planning put them on the that we're going probably need more money if we don't get certain grants right but we're hoping 5000 and 5000 okay well I'll keep that I'll keep that out there and then I won't I won't go through um you know we we can we can kind of move through the the year as we as we move along that's all I have sounds good thank you Peter the balance in your um trust fund is about 5800 nice because you didn't use any last year because the plannings that you did were on public lands so you were able to use your shade tree planting budget operating budget okay Co so anything that if we wanted to do like an Harbor day planning or explain that to me if we plant like if we plant fa Haven Fields is that public so that out a different than appeal yeah like when you donated or planted the tree on was that Lake Avenue or out private property has to be trust fund it can't be taxpayer money on private land but again if we're doing it at a park or Community Center is that public so that so it would come out of our planting we just don't know that planting is yet know what that will be and we can't use that until it's approved no you we can use it we can like last year you guys bought the Christmas tree before right it was official budget they just kind of like work with it on a daily basis confusing a lot of lot of laws around the money that's a good thing um all right moving on tree removal permit data oh we racking these permits up yet not really so far this year permits or payments permits I like when it's just so little I'm just gonna enjoy this four of them are Hazard nor that's two Hol Holly trees to remain that's that's what church Nativity why' they take all that down they were were they they were what were they it just me H used to remain five REM five na what was the reason um um what did he say they I'm not going to use the proper terminology it was something like they were dead like they were Mis planted they grew out of this they were like planted in the wrong place or something so they didn't last and they had to come out the Border they put in a request for something for the resid program it was like they they want oak trees or something like that available so that they could they knew that they were going to have to do this okay did they get the trees or they do no they going to do it I mean this was a request when we didn't have C I don't know you request right yeah so it's on their radar they'll wind up with they like trees to good people um Hazard Hazard Hazard construction Norway maple chrisy can I ask the question that we were discussing about the topping did you ever find anything I didn't find anything in there about topping no I had anything about pring because there was somebody around the corner from May that um had uh their landscaper shopping off the top of the Trees of these leand the Cyprus so the the Cypress is going up and somebody I found out so I wed over because it my neighbor and um um and I think she was horrified that he had decided he said he was going to trim them and what he did was just chop the top off these trees and I said to him he didn't speak um English so I did talk to about he said you're not allowed to top trees like that's not trimming a tree and I thought I remember that was in our ordinance it it usually is in a tree ordinance that you can't top a tree off and Chrissy didn't think it was and I'm sorry I was scrambling all day but I wanted to check but I feel like that should be I mean I I had a very nice conversation with the owner of the house and um and she said I really didn't know that I'm sorry and and I did point out a huge tree in her I said is that your tree and she said oh it's my neighbor's but I know it's really really special and big and I said okay good and I just kind of said I'm from the sheet tree I'm not the tree place but I'm I'm just concerned about this it's really not a good way to treat the tree to top it off and and I'm really trying toot appreciation of trees and I really had a nice conversation with her yeah and um you know she thank me for coming over and but I said you know when you you have to know that if it's six Ines or here you've got to get a permit to do something but I don't know about the tapping I mean tapping half the tree down was it that I mean it was unbelievable like I mean at this big I mean this is about how big and just at six foot like but of course because the it was a Cypress the BR so they covered a little bit and it was because of her pool so I think the landscaper thought they were doing our favorite shopping but if I was a neighbor I would have been horrified that all the trees all of a sudden were half yeah yeah so it it's I there do you know topping is am I saying wrong don't you think ordinance because I I mean what's the between I mean we're talking about leand Cyprus now I I don't I mean I know they're fairly Hardy and they grow pretty darn wasn't it was some other kind but it like a LW something I don't know but wouldn't that be considered maintenance no I haven't seen it so I don't I don't know like I mean yeah oh videotape I mean I just don't know if you could see that clearly um if you email it to me I can put it on screen oh okay oh it's not a good picture anyway I just thought it was worth um barly certain there are some Evergreens you're not supposed to just top because they have that leader that kind of forms that conical shape um but I'm really speaking out of yeah I felt like supposed to pop right so see here's the oh yeah so they just cut off the name later I'll just so see they just Cho so that's what it looks like now oh right would you want to see that and that's what they all there's a whole row of them yeah straggly to be honest well so there these are the branches the branches gr from the bottom up so but then there's a leader just sticking up but yeah I mean so it's now it's a shrub instead of a tree tree thicker now but how is that I don't know I that's the only reason why people do that kind of stuff right isn't that why you do it I don't know why you would do it I would never do it it says it encourages faster lateral growth with a candleabra shape with multiple tops so they might be trying to spread it versus have it grow higher yeah it looks like it's a they're trying to like a real thick H Google Google thank you Chris okay well this it's just me Bonnie's on the case no I just I mean it seems excessive but I don't know you just don't know how much no I like how much we're going to be involved in tree topping or play with Cypress to well technically in the ordinance you're not supposed to do anything to like harm the tree so you know I guess a tree expert would be able to tell us if that would beable to the tree text sharing you think what do you think is smart is just acceptable and then if we find that it is you know dangerous for the tree we can kind of add topping to the list of the things that you could do to D to Tree in in the new ordinance sorry moving on of the tree ordinance um we we were talking about the appendix a review last time they're talking about the you know linking it to the website not linking it to the website um and my apologies but Christy even reminded me today and I was supposed to reach out to our burough attorney and talk about how much of a change that would be um and I I did not um but I will email him tomorrow um to see if that's a if that's a big deal because I think at the end of the meeting I think we we just said we're going to get rid of the link that was in the ordinance and go with the published list of recommended trees yes yes you know I was thinking about asking this at the sh at the uh Shore meeting just how they did the recommended list and maybe they would have suggestion or something I haven't at this but would be good something good find out somebody else uh how they're how they're uh handling it covering some uh [Music] nothing I I thought that never mind I don't remember speak no I don't remember so I can't speak because I don't really remember I don't either that's why I was trying to I was hoping to get reaction I feel like I feel like we did say that but um I also feel like we said we were going to put it somewhere else where the shrubs weren't included and so that we could we wouldn't have to actually change that change list I think we also talked about making the website but that's talk about having the link go to the Burl C Tre website and if that's a substantive change or removing the link entirely basically attorney has to tell us if any changes made to that appendix we may have to start from introduction hearing adoption again so if we have to do that we really need to know exactly exactly what we want to do and initially that would explain to us that we wouldn't have to do that because it was our appendix and we could maybe speak fluid yeah right talk to Drew and I'll talk to so and see how much we can because I I I think that was the confusion it was that one of the lists was two sensive right it had it had it had shrubs didn't want that is that the oh that's the one that Mark and I like the description so that and that's a good site and Mark could just take the shs off and then it's okay right he just well but it then it then it's like well it's still good as far as the S concerned it's good information so we don't want to do away with that but if we did away with the link and left the uh publish list and maybe took off any of the shrubs that were on that list because I think towards the bottom of that list they were we have a page though on the shade tree website yeah like a like where so that we could update that list as necessary MH and it would just be changing the link as opposed to eliminating the link I don't know I mean um yeah I'm we need to find a list of just the good trees and the conditions where they should be planted and like a very simplified you know small medium large um under telephone wires kind of thing and middle of the yard and yeah that's what we to go like you query something but see every town needs it and if every town kind of around here had the same list it' be help we could all just kind of you know because we're all in the same county to be the same recommended tree list right well not necessarily if you're in you right right and then I was thinking like little silver yeah the P the peninsula the peninsula yes no I'm just looking online that the the the site online is might not be perfect but it's pretty darn good and it can be a living document right I mean it can we can change it right and if the concern is there are some bushes rendance Espress Northern spice B bush we what that we just somehow clarify like ad Langer saying these are not included in replacement trees but these are recommended something yeah it's recommended that if you're planting the shade tree and I again I think it's the language is in the ordinance but like you got to always go back to it if you're removing a shade tree you have to replace it with a shade tree right you know and you have to replace it with you know size this that and the other thing so it kind by default eliminates a lot of these these are not for replacing shade trees but are other recommended shrubs I don't think we should I think it should be Crystal Clear people don't read like it could be a link and we could have the same trees and then perhaps even within that document we can have for more information you like you can link there to find out the information on this website about the tree but it is going to cause major confusion if this is linking to that website and there's shrubs there and and I you know because people don't people don't read and they're going think that they can replace you know a 100y old you wrot a dendrum that's going to flower you know like it's just people don't read enely yeah um so there there is a I don't mean to cut you off Chris no um but there is so this the way the site looks now there's a section at the bottom that says smaller ornamental story trees if we could just move that like just put a link to that that says you know here here are other smaller ornamental understory you know trees not you know not not replacement trees or something like that it would just or maybe that I don't know maybe there's just a different link but we think we um I would hate to give up what we have because it's really pretty nice it's very nice there's great pictures and descriptions and things so I'd almost I don't know I don't know maybe like even within that and that's and the thing is that that's not a shade tree commissioned owned website that's like Mark's website yes right right which is I agree is really it's beautiful but I don't know if within that you know if he would be willing to separate that by Pages you know because within that thing within his website I haven't been there in a long time yeah it could have the pages at the top like trees or shade trees they could have shrubs and like those could be two separate tabs within the website itself yeah so I mean you could do that but I still would argue that that by linking somebody to that website that has all that information it's still going to arguably like have somebody say like oh I could do what is here y especially it's not it it doesn't say Fair Haven shade tree commission replacement trees on it and and it shouldn't because it's not only for that right yeah so it should be New Link new I mean Mark made it for the purposes of having Rec tree list that's what he made it for so can we not cut it in half or something I mean you could do you could almost duplicate it copy and then just get of the last couple pages and then just control it you know we'd have more obviously you're you're a very good point Joe we don't control it so if it changes and we don't see it change then someone comes back and say you know I can plant this bubble gum tree um that would be a problem too so uh I don't know but does the ordinance does the ordinance say I should know this does the ordinance say you can only plant these trees or you recommend you replace it with these it's it's the ladder right yeah recommendation yeah so I'm not sure how much risk there is there but but I kind of agree that we should probably own the probably own whatever site we point people to we should have a do not plant list we could well if we're going to revise our recommended list I don't see why we couldn't just attach that let's good idea you know non Natives and idea all right let me I got to talk to uh our burough attorney and and see how involved making additions or made at this stage of the game but like I said we all know we were explain the Nuance of the appendix was you know this is yours this is you know make it make it yours yeah so I'll I'll remind I'll remind some people of that and [Music] see anything else true Wars [Music] all right um and obviously that brings us to councilman La barara who is not here today so we will move on to proposed new agenda items anybody what L we live de do we want to talk about what we want to do for a table sure sure put that on there I had Budget Check in from Peter landscape plans for new and renovated bur facilities is it new the PDC uh police Community Center DPW that could potentially tie into the memorial planting locations and the Arbor Day tree planting locations that's what I typed oh from this meeting okay um are we going to be um I are we going to be that you said the police Community Center planning are we going to be uh councilman law barar might be able to shed some light on if that could be what's planned the landscape and if there potentially any space for a memorial or Arbor Day plan timing those completion for those all right then you want to touch base with him on that before meeting yeah I can shoot him an email ask him give him a head up this what we'll be looking for um the table idea for where you love day yeah love where you love day anybody have any ideas of the um well job um that's where we could have the scavenger hunt start for for the trees the tree signs right three signs how much uh signage in have from previous years um if okay if we advertise during Earth week that on love we live day that we're hosting on Willow Street next Park have the kids run around the park and find tree or something or do some like have tree signs and then they would just be in the park um yeah you could do something like that like could yeah and and trees that they have to find facts on or whatever we could also sorry goe we could also say what like the bigger trees capture in carbon yeah maybe do you know CU there are some monsters there in danger you could yeah I mean you could even have somebody standing not somebody like I'm thinking like you know a NW kid Green Team like standing at each tree maybe they even teach younger kids about them maybe they get stamped they have like a passport tree passport and they're not that many types of trees too I don't think they 10 what 10 different types of trees I just wondering standing by the the Salem Oak to kind of tell it story you know there's all there's holes in there I mean like I don't know there a stump like that you could look at and you can kind of like estimate how old the tree was or what like have different leaves I how you identify a tree by the bark by the leaves by like there's a lot of things you could do like different it doesn't have to be different trees it could just be different things about trees yeah that's a I think that doesn't that sound like fun and then we can have you can make just just 10 posters of I have some pamphlets from way back when that we we gave out with the uh saplings in my garage that I would willingly uh give up that we can put on the table and let people take on a different types of trees is that all different trees yeah that'd be great yeah that' be great Chris unless you want to hold on to them for a couple more years just well been like 10 years you know sure they're new in relation to most of my stuff so so that that's that sounds fun yeah right um very cool and we could even you know tell Mrs Schwarz I maybe she could make an announcements or something at school and it's going to right there and kids could about very well attended right it's pretty well I go last year yeah yeah yeah fun the we did sitting in the I my dog was there was7 so we should probably also I mean obviously we try to take a a turn obviously at the booth or the table or on a tree or on a tree um recruit my kids so chrisy didn't you do a sign up sheet May next month once you have the time so we'll put that on for next meeting um that the environmental scientist uh oh yeah we were talking to uh would like to try and get her next unfortunately she couldn't be here tonight she's in California with the with the wild fires she's just been out there doing air quality testing so she said she was really sorry but she couldn't she couldn't make it um but I would I would still really like to get her here when we can as soon as we can okay would is you going to you going to reach back out to her in weeks or would you mind reminding me to like like you did this time to check I can't be trusted I would invite the environmental commission to come hear her yeah yeah I just want to make sure that she can come yeah before we like orchestrate all the all the commissions and and it's hard yeah and I think it it would be good too if we had you know whenever you you do get a chance to talk to or maybe have it ask her about like not the next meeting but the following meeting just because I think it would be worth you know clearing the agenda if she's gonna speak at Lan you know and not have you know that's fair that's fair um yeah okay I hear you hopefully Bill Brash can come next month oh yeah we're going to have to work him into probably a couple meetings maybe just to I did you talk about how he does I mean the last Community forry is kind of has a this whole intro about how everything was be done and blah blah blah blah blah it just um I know I think I sent you the prin which just seemed really well written and um I don't know I just feel like ours really needs a does he do that do we how much do we do on well that's right I mean kind of new to me new to all of us so I think that's what we're going to find out soon and that's why I'd like to have him here maybe at a meeting I mean I'll I'll be talking to him but I'll have a meeting if he comes he might have some really good ideas for everybody to you know you guys want to do this I'll be doing this but you know things that we can collect some information or you know things that we can start thinking about so um you want me to send out the current one to everyone so they can review what it currently is yeah that' be a good idea definitely pictures it's like worst it's like the AR it has these awful black and white pictures right it's just like nothing is is it every five years so this is back in 2020 yeah not you different no anent no to 201 yeah yeah why don't I think they were supposed to be done every five years they are got re adopted because of and then for change all their yeah ours is really really I thought it was 2011 it's 14 14 yeah it's it's old um I'm sorry uh going back Joel the um the inventory can can we see what's in that Park to determine how much carbon they capture based on that okay wa my credit part mhm M Carter Park if they it talks about it's approximate age or size or type then I can just put it in the calculator it calculates for you it already calculates how much carbon it captur do you know how much carbon cap don't tell I know I don't that's like so no you should be able to get some f that'd be awesome um but if you could put that on the tree like I think people would be astounded to see I take this much carbon out of the air right this much rain water be nice to me that's stamping all over from my roots get foot well I think also like some people are afraid of the trees after the baseball incident and the par and even at marcar Park so like reminding people why those trees are really important and maybe the chances of getting hit by tree versus other things happening or something I don't know maybe you don't want talk about getting hit with anything leave that one out I put that in the universe um all right anything else for discussion next week or next month do we have a um like an action plan or a strategy or something we do on and as a whole like in commission yeah um well we do a at the end of every year we you know I'll present like a report yeah of our accomplishments and what we're looking to do going forward much like the you know management plan the education plan well I only ask is the Environmental commission at their last meeting I mean Sean ba is trying to put together this whole strategy and their plan and their um list of actions they want to take and like Ed education is one of theirs um that they really want to work on and I was thinking and he talks about strategic Partners like the Natural Area shat and then we could work with them to do some educational events I I thought May worth asking Sean he's very very organized and he's really trying to get um kind of a much more systematic um place I just thought it was interesting [Laughter] no um I don't know I I've been kind of using our agenda as an action plan or whatever but there I mean we can kick it around as far as I think that our management plan should be our action plan that should be like our guiding right plan steming from the inventory yeah yeah I mean no stemming from the whole the whole fiveyear plan like that's our that's our strategic yeah that is our strategic plan that's should be our guiding and our Guiding Light whatever and it's just not in a position it's not in a it's not what it should be right now but that is in theory going to be like a living breathing document that we look to as where like where our decisions should be based and sure you know like our five year 10 year how much can't Fe yeah like that so that's that should all go into that and that should guide our yeah I agree yeah I think I think it'll come come through once we get uh P the paper with Bill um I thought you meant on a like a monthly basis more of a you're you're looking for the the grand scale which which I think is yeah I guess we just haven't really had one because the community par management plan has never been used right has anybody used it in last five years no probably not but like I think you know we're kind of bound to having that and I don't I'm guessing that the green team is not I mean environmental team sorry they they're not required to have that probably I mean this is our requirement so we have to have that plan right but we need a really usable dagma that should be our Focus really make this a something that we use constantly right yeah I don't think nobody even what it really says yeah I I like with any plan like you have to have like measurable what goals goals so you know good checklist all right going move on to public comment if there are any so Brian no not toight all right Mark olon was on but he's not here anymore oh shoot we could have asked him about the he did raise his hand before but he's gone he disappeared peace out it's too late all right his lost well but I thought you would ask about the you know if you could separate out the I don't think we should do that I think we should own it I think I agree I think I think in the spirit of just keeping it as simple and straightforward as possible and you know no gray area I think something that's our list and this way there won't be any question what's on it we know exactly what's I think like like it would be nice you know something to look to if somebody that maybe has the talent of doing a website make website it wouldn't be a bad idea for the um coition of committees that are in Fair hav and that kind of are under the umbrella of you know the environment let's call it to have a collective website where each commission or committee like own a page you know so like the shade tree the Green Team the Natural Area you know that could be a good way to collaborate I mean but that's not something I don't create websites I'm not doing that but like they each have a page on this I mean this is nobody uses it I remember the last time anybody gave me stuff to so it's just all but you're welcome to I don't know how many people get conned to it yeah all right let's find out find out what we can do change pictur but I mean even even putting up a new link you know what I mean I'm assuming we should all right well I think this brings this one to a close motion to adjourn seconded third and fourth all right everybody good to see you all good evening take care guys out there in Zoom messing me up
