##VIDEO ID:pURWvaPvK7s## Mr Reed go ahead good afternoon everybody well good evening hope everybody's doing well um just the same thing that we always been saying um everything has been going pretty well but just make sure you know you tell your friends people also that Liv in town also you know across our jurisdiction that just make sure you lock your cars your your residences um you know you do have patrols out don't Burg Patrol stuff like that um to to deter but to make sure that it doesn't happen to you um just make sure you do everything that you can to prevent that um by locking everything making sure your house is secure um believe it or not um when I do these overnight controls I find a lot of garage doors open and and when I go inside the garage door to check I find the um the door that goes from the garage into into the house open and so you know um and then when I tell people like when I wave them up to let them know you know I get the attitude of why you w but please you ride by my my let me know I can't me later but you be surprised so just just be mind mindful of that um events wise you know we are uh we had to cancel our national night out because of the weather um which is you know I was away on vacation anyway I was a coordinator for it so U we had to counsel for that um if you know anyone interested in our in our police Citizen Police Academy we basically teach um our residents about what we do um the session is starts September 4th if you are interested you know you can apply on the Township Police website under the community relations Bureau for assistant Police Academy um I actually coordinate that program um it's about 12 weeks one Wednesday from 8 no sorry from 6:00 to 8:00 you know we have a class and and it's different topics about um the police department so one day is Patrol next day is uh motor vehicle stops and we actually have you guys doing micle stops and seeing what it's like to be a police officer then we'll at the tail end will'll take you to the similar program at the county and you do like a uh basically a shoot don't shoot scenario on what it's like to be a police officer so if you know anyone that's interested in that program um please um I'll send that out yeah I'll share that see if there's interest I'm sure they will the sooner the better because right now our uh we actually have like a low number of people that actually apply so you know classes start this Wednesday coming up so if you know anyone that's interested please um how long are the classes well like a like a day like each week they 2 hours oh from and how long is the program about 12 weeks so we start now and then you end right before Thanksgiving oh so how much is this what day sorry H it's on it's on a Wednesday no High School uh how much of this is classroom versus writing H what uh to doing a ride along mhm well right now we have we haven't done a actual ride along in a while um the last time that I know we did a ride along is when I used to have interns that were ride that would come to the police department but we actually have not had a ride on something that's in the works something that we been talking about um but it's something that you know with uh insurance purposes and and everything else is something that we actually haven't provideed to the residents you know um I don't remember the last time we actually gave a ride along to one of our residents and I don't think we've done it since I've been here um 10 years I know other programs that have their assist Police Academy at P they would do let them ride um you know that's part of like the graduation to see what it's like um but even though we don't offer that right now we do offer you know what it's like pull over a police car and basically basically you know we teach you about the motor vehicle balls we teach you about different things of how to stop a car and then you pull me over and I show you I can be either nice or I can be not nice and um you see what's you know what it's kind of like to you know to deal with that so like I said if you know anyone that's interested in that we also have a bunch of programs at the youth center uh our basketball program that we have the you Center our fitness program that we have in Center our chess program is starting up soon um at new center um I'll be starting my boys Council mentoring program at uh at uh RTS which is uh Ro to success so it's like a Turner School uh for kids in middle and high school and um we're just uh just trying to maintain the needs of the community and just try to stay busy so with the police Acy you do you talk to the high school we have two high school students well let me just emphasize this is police County so it's 18 and older okay so it's like actual adults and then we do offer another high school graduate yeah yeah at least over the age 18 um we do offer another one which I'm working on at some point um we're working on a senior citizen version of The Citizen Police Academy but I don't really have any detail on that one as of yet but anyone's interested okay any other questions about pleas thank you for your usual report um as I indicated uh I have to uh short shorten this meeting because we have a conflict with another with another meeting which I'm not happy about but it it's I have to speak to the mayor because U we plan our meetings every fourth Wednesday and for some reason they have this meeting tonight which is an important important meeting I asked it to postpone it but I couldn't talk him into it so I I I am this is going to be a short meeting but since uh our a vice chairman has walked in hi hi hi do you have anything to report on the flags um number one I think it's time to for us to go to the council because we've uh rallied enough support uh I met with the Chamber of Commerce um and um they fully support this and await word as to what's involved in getting this project started um also um Wendy from the Chamber of Commerce uh put me in contact with a gentleman named Lucas who spearheaded the program in Manville so I've asked him to please Supply us with some best practices you know what works what doesn't work um what is the best timetable for for putting a project like this together you know how did they go about reaching out to families to make sure that we had all and then the other um uh group that I reached out to was we don't have a VFW or an American Legion in town however um at one of our uh senior over 55 communities uh there is a a gentleman who serves as commander of that group and um he says they're very intered as a matter of fact he had had uh at the time when Manville was organizing their effort to get their flags up um he had had them speak to um the group so he says there's uh a good many several dozens of um veterans in the area who in our town that he thinks would rally around this too oh okay Council Theon can't be H tonight his wife was sick but I would start with him so I I would I would you know contact him with an email something so we could talk to the council and then indicate that that the HRC is behind this so you might want to either call call Alex or because I think we've done enough research now that we know that it's something that has support and but we can't do anything more until the council um gives us permission and its blessing so that's good that's good Alex he's on aison as you know and and have him bring it to the council and then take it from there thank you very much any other question [Music] that okay um I don't have oh oh on the update the uh Kmart Shopping Center is coming up again with the uh zoning board on uh I think September October 5th I think so hopefully that'll be resolved and for once for all did they just have the meeting August the 1st did they have that meeting yeah what they did well we didn't finish it you know oh we had the engineer and now we got someone else coming so hopefully by the next time we meet we'll either we'll either have it approved or not approved so and the next meeting at Point um I think October 5th I'm not sure I don't have October um I think it's the beginning or possibly the end of September I'll I'll look it up and I'll let you all know okay think in September also what the September I think it was September okay now this other thing tonight you know is an overdose awareness day hope and healing overdose and a qu is Vigil so if you're interested you can just go in and join them um I don't really have anything else unless you do John you have anything that that to report otherwise our next meeting is September 25th and hopefully uh we won't have a conflict so but there is a new construction also coming up on C there is a new construction coming up on the C BL you I believe that's the million dollar homes are there homes there H I think Ryan holes Ryan hes yeah those are homes yeah I think that that's the planning board yeah okay does anyone have anything else otherwise no only one thing I I'll just say this to be done uh there are an absolute need for low-income apartments in Franklin tennessy I mean I can understand the high rents and what's going around the country and so but we need some low-income apartments whether it be Kmart or anybody else I haven't been to another meeting I'm going to go to meet and blow it up because that's the need from the people that's what the people coming to me want to know why we can't have some low-income apartments they building apartments all up and down the hood I'm from the hood youall know what the hood is and they building lovely apartments in the middle of the hood and we can't afford n room nowhere I want to make you aware of our situation as opposed to what your situation might be that's all right that's good anything else all right so I'm going to ask for the meeting to be adjourned as I said if if if you want if you want to join them you can what is the meeting for that's going to be here have awareness oh that's I make a motion toj make a motion to adjourn yes sir [Music]
