##VIDEO ID:DlniQbq2ASU## e e e e e call this meeting the time is 6:04 pm today is November 18 2024 get a motion to approve the agenda as presented approve agenda and a second I'll second all those in favor raise your hand agenda approved we got to have everybody stand for the United States of America [Music] stand indivisible andice just heard on the way in that in 54 they added Thunder God to the fledge to differentiate between the United States and its values and the communist countries during the Cold War oh was okay any visitors jul okay superintendent report all right um it's a number of things just update on enrollment that I try to keep you updated every month uh for November we're at and it's normally the first week of the month um we're at 551 that's up four from October so that's good um still down down from original projections but um up for is is good news over the month so what were we for projections um the adjusted pre units were like six again budget is based on adjusted pup units and that was like 635 and with our enrollment at 551 we're at 611 so we're about 24 just a people unit short um just want to remind all board members who will be back on the board uh in January about the msba training and conf conference schedule so there's various trainings phases one two three and four that are available online or some of them are redone at the conference and uh and then the leadership conference is January 16th and 17th so I believe we have rooms reserved so if uh you know your plans to make it or not be able to make it please let Julie or myself know and we'll uh we'll make some arrangements but uh that's um it's a good conference I I think U think I've been to 35 years of msba conferences through my career and just a lot of good sessions uh for individual board members um and then obviously a large vendor display and you you gfw board will be rock stars this year because everybody will be trying to sell you something because they know you have a building project in the works so uh um just good to see a lot of lot of materials uh in person so good conference so let me know or Julie know if you plan to attend the better since we can cancel the hotel DRS without getting charged at this point yet and registration for to the conference is free for school board but um but hotel is is our concern certainly um just a a note uh that we have the musical this weekend and maybe Jennifer was going to talk about to Legally Blond so that's coming up this weekend looking forward to seeing that show um we have a fairly light agenda tonight with I'm sure you all read 200 plus pages of policy that were included in the packet um but I promise you we're not going to read through them uh individually but we will just they're all technical changes or legislative changes so going to be asking for approval of those all tonight um and then December is um turning out to be a rather busy uh agenda we're going to have our audit I anticipate um Lindsay did receive some preliminary information today but has not received the preliminary audit book to to review but we anticipate getting that fairly soon um we'll have the truth and Taxation hearing that same night we also have a required uh report for our community for our achievement and imigration grant that will be done that night and then uh obviously the levy approval that night so we going to be a little bit more meet to that December meeting than we then we have tonight and then the last thing I just wanted to say thanks to Ka uh and Brian kobal for hosting us out on the construction site last uh Thursday afternoon and we slogged through the through the mud I was glad everybody followed directions and War because they were needed out there and U I'm sure it's soupy again with the rain that we have coming down right they were very ining yeah yeah it was just really good for you to get firsthand information of you know the timing of the next steps of the project um you know what the weather has done to us you see what the workers are going through every day slogging through this mud I had a good crew out there today they were putting up more walls on the kind of that interior side of the gymnasium so it would run down the hall between the gym and the and the locker rooms um and Brian at the meeting talked about getting special ads uh mats to lay down so that heavy equipment can keep that going even if things are are soupy here so hopefully um things will get going by Wednesday I'm not real sure if things will they anybody will be doing much out there tomorrow if we get this inch plus of rain that they're talking about do the mats take a big cut in our contingency uh no they'll I mean there'll be some expense but in relative terms it's not going to be big but after being out there it's probably necessary yeah it's going to save us money in the long run by keeping things moving forward here that's all I have thank you okay Elementary principal well we raised over 2200 with our Papa Murphy's fundraiser um the money will support t- bird way events and we are grateful for all the families that purchase pizzas I don't know if any of you were here that night but we had about $111,000 worth worth of pizzas in the entryway and we're getting them sorted and handed out to families so there was a lot of activity happening and that was the night of conferences too so what's going on um our real life staff superheroes for this month were our veterans and we have three staff members who are veterans Amy tenic Dan Kaiser and Dustin Kors um we thank them for their service during our t- bird way assembly and all veterans during our Veterans Day program during the program students sang a special song and Veteran Brad culk um students honored veterans that they know by filling out an informational sheet and placed it on our veterans wall in the gym um other events we had Cline theater here and they performed for all of our students um they pres presented a production about invasive aquatic species um conferences were very well attended and it was great to meet with all of our parents and families our students are busy practicing for their Winter concert which will take place on Thursday December 19th at 1:30 and 6:30 um our teachers some of our teachers attended a math training last week um about Alex math um that will be used for supplemental instruction and intervention purposes uh from um just a high school perspective I do want to remind you about the musical this weekend I'm Legally Blonde it's Friday and Saturday at 7 pm and Sunday at 2m so we'd love to see um everybody come out for that um t- bird Community Arts will um host a Canada holiday Canada that will take place on Saturday December 7th at 7M at Peace Lutheran Church in winra and on Sunday December 8th at 2m at St Andrew Andrews Catholic Church in Fairfax a free will donation will be taken and our t- bird way um or excuse me our t- bird Community Arts board will decide on next Summer's musical in December and that is I kind of a much anticipated thing so we're hoping we get that decision made thank you thank you you have anything else what this um just I know they have football banquet tonight so um not presid um and uh they also had parent teacher conferences something we've had some conversations about just the attendance at those events and whether during the day conferences were better than the evening or vice versa um but this year's conferen is held true to Historic trends that we have good attendance at the elementary and then okay at Middle School and non-existent at the high school now is that well I think part of it is as a parent I can follow my child every day on Infinite Campus exactly what's happening with their grades their you know attendance their uh discipline anything you can see that on every day you could get an update if you want um I think that's one of the reasons I'm sure there are more than more than that but uh I I know when I was a teacher 40 years ago we had the same situation that attendance wiled as I think as kids get older and they say Mom and Dad don't go you know we don't want you go to meet with our teachers I'm doing okay just leave that alone so but it's something we want to have families come in and have that conversation we need to make that connection and uh try to try to change that train that people stop going once their kids sit middle school or high school a lot of time at the elementary to you'll see the kids coming along with their parents too which um you know I'm sure that's maybe not would be as common at the middle school and high school so I think you have kids too getting excited to have their parents come to conferences here at the elementary too that might be a little difference too there conferences this year um and two more things I should have mentioned um I want to thank director turtle and others for harvesting the uh FFA egg plot out here by the new school and I think Jim said $6,700 was raised well we didn't we didn't, 1700 Bush we haven't sold oh okay all right we're waiting for a price J okay all right all right good good get all you can and then just aote the farmers Legacy group had this raffle going and they had held their drawings on Wednesday night and uh I'm sorry if you bought tickets but if you haven't received a phone call you did not win anything you forgot to call me so but we had a gathering in Fairfax last Wednesday night and Drew for those prizes okay well thank you your Dasher report was in your packet and there's no school board representative present so board reports executive committee standard meeting pretty much agenda setting not too much happening right now um I don't think there's anything extra that isn't on yeah agenda um Finance facility and long range planning anything to report well this continues everything is about the school building itself the progress and everything is most of our knowledge is still on budget correct yeah yeah so but basically it was and we all walk the sidewalks up for Emily but just a quick you know they this was last week when we met 114 two weeks ago um so pre-cast in area D they were working on all the footings are done uh they're starting to put roof Joy on a decking they were supposed to start Roofing today but probably not um area C masonary East End bearing utilities or area masonary they were working on which we saw ding's construction uh they should have power now to the site they were going to try to have live power at the end of last week so all storm work is done water is on site now we're waiting for a meter at least two weeks ago from the city and grouting floor planks all the Steels on site and that's about it for what we've kind of went over okay thank you policy committee yeah so we so there's the msba recommended review changes so there's three policies that are recommended but you know and I think that's what we're voting on tonight so you guys all saw that and then there's 21 21 policies that got revised during the latest uh legislation session which were mainly single words couple sentences uh nothing new nothing or sh no big changes Community engagement we just met prior to this kind of had a few things with the meetings with the communities coming up for what we'd like to do or what they would like to do long term with the G and W buildings after the of the school thank you keep an eye on the inflight so you can take the survey um and then the other place that it will be is in you said the electric stud and get them utility bills utility bills yep to keep an eye on that so you can take the survey and then there will be future meeting dates that are not set yet once we have all those survey results so that Community input can be um added there um is there a publish date that survey a release date of it well it's going out in our inflight which will be don't know when it goes out it goes out in December first first part of December no mid de okay so that survey is going to be open at least till mid January so um I don't know if the cities will put it in two months Billings but uh survey would be live if somebody would get a got the link in their billing right now but the first time our general public will see it is in that inflight that will come out in December we discussion of the Time Capsule and Dr ke Dr Smith's research says that it's hard to find a nice sized capsule to put it in so we throw out some ideas of what we could find for a particular capsule and then further discussion about what to put in time caps on a date yeah those are the highlights okay anything Business Services anything to talk about just the information in your packet and and then I I mentioned earlier that we hope to have that preliminary audit back um so so we can for sure get that on the December meeting I expect we'll have okay moving on to consent get a motion to approve the consent I'll make a motion to approve the consent a second I'll second any discussion no all in favor raise your hand sent is approved moving on to resolutions and action items uh a recommended motion to approve reviewed policies 722 and 806 which were attached question your package singularly I think you can do those two at one one shot okay I guess I would ask if if somebody has something they want pulled out we could do that but um as as Russ mentioned already these are all statutory changes or um you know they they've changed instead of police officer they're using a peace officer so they're changing the wording for things like that so those are the only changes there's no substantive changes the first two here are just reviewed so effectively there's no changes on these we just were obligated by law to review these policies each year so um trying to remember exactly the name of first two that public data request and crisis management crisis management thank you well since there's no changes I don't think there's too much discussion uh get a motion to approve 722 and 806 I'll make a motion approv 722 and 806 and a second second all in favor raise your hands those policies are approved B recommend motion to approve revised policies 10 2 104 204 207 413 416 418 419 503 506 507 509 512 513 515 516 521 522 524 and 532 and those were just some of the basic changes from the legislature correct those were I think almost all as a result of some legislative change or msba made some word tweaks in some of the sometimes they added new sources right fortification yeah here there yeah yeah so it was an enjoyable meeting so going through all of those and I I will share we have another round this was about half of the ones that have some technical revision in them so you'll see another not at our December meeting but probably coming in January okay I get a motion for those uh policies I'll make a motion approv and a second second there all in favor reading policies approved C recommend motion to revise change order amount required to have full board vote for approval from $50,000 to $100,000 get a motion in a second and then we can discuss I'll make a motion to move the revised change order from 50,000 to 100,000 and a second uh I think it's probably a good thing probably be helpful since there's a lot of small things that once 50,000 was a lot of money but yeah now it's not as much I think we discussed at our last meeting when K and world were here you know maybe even 150 that might have seemed like a little bit of a a stretch and might have left some things um off the table for discussion so 100,000 seemed like a a reasonable number to set I think it was Russ that said at our last meeting we're still reviewing these change orders it's just um it's really we don't to be the bottleneck so trying to keep things moving with the stay is close to the reest Revis schedule as possible otherwise it sits an RQ for a month and then it you know so could be up to two months before you know anything's ordered to uh that's part of the change order so that could affect schedule quite a bit so but yes we absolutely still review all changes and since we're a bit behind it's probably pertinently yeah we can't afford to be any anymore one last comment on that is at the meeting last time they they talked about one more that they suspected was going to be over 50 I don't know um they had a lot to work through on that I haven't received any updates on that yet uh hopefully by our next FF lrp meeting we'll have that next change order that may that may top a 100,000 I'm not sure but uh there was one more that they were working on it was all state review related since uh the state finally reviewed our drawings and um the the state's language is as clear as mud so everybody interprets it different and you just don't know what you're going to get from them and um or what they're going to make you do so but we are uh making do their due diligence and we're asking L of questions and and um making sure there's no pushovers or anything okay anything else no okay get a motion to switch the change order revision amount to amount to [Music] did okay okay I go back on my own thoughts I think we just need to vote yeah let's just vote all in favor raise your hand is approved the donation whereas Minnesota statute 465.16 restriction restrictions T-bird football team comments for the high school get a motion to approve the donations as described a motion to approve the donations and a second I'll second have a motion and second Julie can you call the role Miller yes hero yes Merle yes Rome yes s yes yes thank you donations are approved uh future meeting dates Monday December 2nd uh Committee of the whole with Dr Ray Queener uh Monday December 16th board meeting truth and Taxation hearing uh January 6 organizational board meeting January 16th and 17th the annual leadership conference uh any other business to discuss before adjournment just one comment about like the msba trainings um you know there there are virtual trainings I think starting in early December uh that you could sign up for so if anyone has any interest just let us know there is a registration fee for some of those trainings but um but they're available virtually um so let me know if you have any interest and I could probably send out an email what those trainings are but there's typically phase one through four is what they offer every year and uh and those are available virtually uh we used to always drive to St Peter on right after election uh to go to that phase one but they do it all not so just let me know if you're interest anything else no get a motion to adjourn make a motion to adjourn and a second I'll second I raise hand meeting isour take
