work uh repairing the gym floor everything has gone on schedule as rare as that is in a school related construction project uh the plan of now is uh they're actually sealing the floor um as we today and tomorrow Jim bleachers are scheduled to be moved back Thursday afternoon so we will be hosting basketball games Friday evening wow um so we got in on time the schedule that we were originally looking for all of the work completed um Tom we're obviously going through the GIF anything you want to add on on that end yeah GIF will cover all the call costus $500 the only additional cost we might have is to make sure we got the schedule done for this weekend we had them come in on Saturday have slight overtime work but with that snowstorm really glad that we did that well I'm on the G gym um Saturday and Sunday we are hosting uh the floor hockey portion of the New Jersey Special Olympics program they're going to actually have three different courts set up in the main gym we're one of the few gyms in South Jersey that could hold it they came to us in the fall and asked us if we would be willing um they're gonna actually start doing some setup Friday afternoon we've got [Music] um um their staff arriving as early as I believe it's six o'clock Saturday morning contestants or contests start around 9 o'clock Saturday morning I believe it goes to 5 o'clock Saturday and then Sunday there's contest again I think 9 to 12 or 9 to1 um so it's a great little piece of PR for the for the district all of those people coming in and out seeing the the building and that's part of why as Tom said we wanted to make sure we brought the floor group in on Saturday also we didn't want to you know send send them scrambling for somewhere else to go so we will be hosting the floor hockey section of the New Jersey Special Olympics Saturday and Sunday um had the opportunity and December to go to uh I guess all but one of the different Performing Arts events between band and choir and drama and uh Dance One Dance is is actually this week um it it is you know again and I'll update the schedule when we get into the spring performances but it is just so impressive how many of our kids are involved in the Performing Arts still numbers are shrinking just to kind of a refresher for everybody the catastrophic budget cuts in 2010 you saw a lot of elementary middle school programs cut their Performing Arts programs um and so there's not nearly the teachers there used to be um but it's still really impressive to see how much time our staff and our students put into in those holiday programs were very very successful big crowds the The Joint one here for instrumental and vocal had to have 3 50 people in the auditorium maybe more I think you were did you come that night um gamy gamy had even more people than that and what was really cool to see and I'll share this with everybody how many of the students peers were there which I I always kind of try and pay attention to not just the Performing Arts kids across the building spending time going to them but also just I know a group of 15 friends all got together went out to dinner and went to the gamy vocal and and instrumental concert and I think that's really cool that the kids are there supporting each other so a huge shout out for for all of that um I I collected from the principles and I'll I'll by next week I'll try and get it in some kind of a a visual form but we talked a little bit in December when Hamilton Township and oakrest had worked together and they ended up raising about $7,500 for students in need some of the stuff that was done throughout the month of December um two of the buildings were involved in the military drives the Toys for Tots about between the three buildings 190 to 200 students received gift cards to various locations you know everything from a WWA up to a Target or a Walmart so kids could have some stuff um the staff stepped up there were a lot of gently used lightly used coats and shoes and stuff like that was donated went into the care closets so much so and this is an important part I I want to share the the care closets were used so much so that two of the three buildings actually had to solicit from the staff coming back from the break we need deodorant we need soap we need razors we need toothbrushes we need toothpaste so that means that kids are going in there and kids are using the car closet and they're taking supplies for themselves so I take that to be a huge positive when we've got to keep replenishing those types of of items for our students um so a lot you know and again I I'll try and organize this a little bit for you but I just wanted you to know and hear some of specific examples of all three buildings staff and student organizations working together providing for for our students that that need it and then the last thing I'll say is congratulations to the three board members for being reelected thank you um appreciate the service and the volunteerism and congratulations to Carol and Marge and no pressure but you know this is the first meeting of the year we seem to be setting a very impressive timeline and I'm done okay um I will try to keep it short too so I'll follow up can I just ask a quick question oh yeah James when when those calls for donations go out can you copy us on that yeah because I I wrote myself a note for this yeah because I you know I would yeah absolutely thank you yeah thanks um I'm just going to start off by congratulating um Daryl and Brian and Lois um thank you for volunteering but also just thank you for your commitment to the board you know some people don't realize what a time commitment it is and and to have people that really care be here very much appreciated and then um for myself I just want to say Happy New Year and thank you very much um I really do appreciate your continued vote of confidence it really means a lot to me um I appreciate not only your commitment to the board but I have to say like the fact that everybody works together and no matter what or where we're coming from or what community you're from everybody's always looking for what's best for the students and I've heard from various like out sometimes at Schoolboard things that you know over at the convention and stuff how many people talk about how their boards don't work together and things aren't getting done and I can honestly say you know for for years like we really I think work well and people put aside sometimes that whatever their thoughts might be for like one thing or another and listen to everything and make decisions based on what's best for you know the school so not only do I appreciate you know the staff the administration everybody but this whole board working together I appreciate you know like everything you do and um giving me a chance to come back and keep working with you all right and then uh County meeting Thursday night if anybody is signed up there's a virtual meeting they're GNA be talking about CSA evaluations and goals uh The Retreat is January 15th at six o'clock that here right at Creek and then the regular meeting will be the 27th so it's a it is a busy month I realize we have like three meetings so um just so you know what's happening to each one so the retreat starts earlier and you know shouldn't be a real late night yeah um and the County meetings is on Virtual only so usually like 645 645 yeah so that's all I have for um my part Mr s yes um does the board have to prepare for anything for the retreat do you want us to prepare or do anything for that or just show up I at this point I was just thinking we show up I think that's what we've done in the past I'm going to provide an update on the goals and share some other stuff that we've been working on on that is kind of related to the go but just even just so you have some ongoing idea of where we're going Jen rushan will be presenting because she is directly tied to two of the four goals um I will say though like I think you know I mentioned that December because we didn't do the self Val if anybody has any specific things you'd like to see us have framing on I always set up with Michelle Kennedy she'll come and do our ethics but also if there's anything else we want I know we're going to have something just for the board like in-house training but if there's anything you would like you know that you think would be important just bring that thought and we'll share that discuss that on also okay old business a great [Applause] we had talked about it's my faal for not following up on with the buildings no no it's it's I know I know it was done one time for the football at towards the end of the football B season I saw it at one of the games I didn't follow up with it for the winner so thank you for bringing it up again absolutely thank you any other old business new business I just want to let people know that the audit was finished over the bre and it other new business this time I'll open the meeting up to the public anyone wishing to speak on any matter Mr gra is there a resolution for executive session we do not need it at this time you don't need it at time one thing if I could first of all happy new year to everybodyy year great to see everybody as well uh I just wanted to inform you didn't see it through our social media that um were hard work dedication gr including her work relationship with you as a board and with your administrative team itation of the shers elev to partner 11 to announce that and you are part of that great progress promotion so I thank you as well working with her so we will oh definitely so now so now you charge us more for that right way no executive session no I
