comment we'll close that public comment portion we'll move into the caucus work session and not seeing any items we'll proceed right to the proclamation designated this month of October as good neighbors month I do not see anybody here to accept this Proclamation but I will read it the proclamation States whereas the incomparable Services which good neighbors has rendered in the past have earned their respect appreciation and admiration of the residents of Haden Heights and the countless individuals and families they have served and whereas this volunteer organization provides financial assistance to Haden Heights residents on a short-term emergency basis and whereas the financial operation of good neighbors is funded entirely through contributions and the volunteers to give unselfishly of their time and talents and whereas the governing body of the bar of Haden Heights encourages every resident to give as generously as they are able to to this most deserving organization now therefore I Zachary Hal mayor of the bur of Haden Heights and phoh council do hereby proclaim the month of October 2024 as good neighbors month um just just to highlight the work that good neighbors do this is an organization um that truly helps uh the residents of Haden height and that's what they were designed for and they work closely with both the police department the ladies here fire hall um to just to work on making sure that any donations any money that comes in um goes to those that are really in need um and again I can tell you through the pandemic they were um honestly a blessing they took care of so many people and really helped them get them back on their feet or temporarily situated so again I cannot praise this organization enough it's one of my favorite organizations here in Haden I tell you to look if you're ever interested in donating um they're a great organization you can find information on them on our bar website so with that next session minutes for the August 7th 2024 work session motion by councilman Addison Phillips second seconded by councilman Phillips all those in favor I opposed or abstained councilwoman an abstention by councilwoman rusen next we have council members reports I'll start with councilman har U things are moving forward um after receiving bids uh from the RFP that was submitted on the athletic field maintenance agreements um so we're looking forward to um an adoption of vendors for the purposes of ground maintenance irrigation maintenance and Lawn Care Services um and um our upcoming holiday parade uh will be planned for Friday November 29th um the day after Thanksgiving um we have uh done a good amount of Outreach to um organizations and U members of the community for participation and starting to see a good amount um coming in so plans are moving forward and things are going well wonderful councila sure thanks mayor um just a couple things from the engineering committee um so I think everybody's aware that the Kings Highway construction has commenced um it has uh we have started and we have some Road detours in play um definitely encourage everybody to continuously visit our website which will actually redirect you to the projects website and then um par take particular notice because at the bottom of that website there's a um section where you can fill in your email to get email blast updates as well um so that's something we'll be pushing out as well but um wanted to make sure that everybody was aware of that I actually just signed up for it this week um other than that they we also had the kickoff meeting for the missing sidewalks project um so what that means is that we are under contract everything is funded and we are um progressing um one of the first steps in the um in that project will be survey so um there will be folks out surveying um surveying for the design that they'll need for the missing sidewalks and as we approach Halloween um that's a night where I think having connected sidewalks and having those additional connections will really make a difference um to our residents and neighbors so I'm excited about that um project progressing with that that's it thanks thank you Russ councilman aison okay uh on the environmental commission side uh congratulations to sustainable Haden Heights especially Dave McCullen and uh Marshall Hatfield we obtained the uh bronze designation award for the year they worked hard to put a lot of paperwork together and submit it uh there are 83% of municipalities in the state are part of the program and only 30% earned an award such as that um there's going to be a uh uh uh an event in Atlantic City on 11:19 at 10:30 to 1:45 so mayor is invited Kelly's invited if you want to attend so we just need to know um and I know they did a great job with that um and uh on the Devon Avenue project uh we just have a resolution to pay tnm once we get them paid they'll answer the final question so we can get a reply on the D Grant we've been uh tracking down for a couple years um and we do need to add additional members to both committees sustainable Haden Heights and environmental commission um we're you know running low on on members um that are active so put the word out if anybody's interested in that we could sure use them on the shade tree side uh uh we had a meeting today online uh for tree inventory training for the software that system that we have um and uh the CFO is getting quote he got quotes for uh adding additional users so we can um each person that inventories the trees can probably do it on an iPad and submit the data at the same time uh but it's it's pretty expensive so we got to figure out when we want to do it there's a Grant application they may help us out with that that's and the the submission is due by the end of the year um we uh Julie sent out notices uh to Residents where we plan on planting trees mostly on the West Side she's gotten a responses so the next step is to put the door knockers on uh we plan on doing 70 trees um for the fall winter planting uh so um we should be able to get those ordered and and planted probably in early December late November um I'm a little disappointed uh on the west side we planted a lot of trees and the residents have taken very poor care of them they haven't watered or cared for them so we we've lost some of the tree stock that we hope to grow and I hope they do better in the future um and Howard and I have been working on a tree protection ordinance uh that we should be able bring to the next meeting for review um and then we jump over to construction um permits are pretty steady uh in the beginning of the year we had uh more permit fees from all the um the plumbing work I think that Pioneer was doing but for the year we have $ 139,140 in permit fee so we're doing pretty good with that um and then uh with uh police uh this month they had 780 8,29 total Fleet mileage uh 1,42 calls for service 14 arrests and charges 16 accidents and 123 motor vehicle summonses were issued um and then I guess there there'll be accommodation that the chief will probably bring next time for the event that happened at the shop right so post that next time um we did meet with them briefly today and uh we uh looked at the uh remediation event and the uh their office and and space and it really needs to be fixed up in a hurry because it's a mess so that's all I have thank you councilman Addison uh council president Morgan uh thank you mayor um as I think you can all see in front of you you have the uh audit from Bowman and Company I attended a meeting with our our CFO and our auditor uh last weekend the exit meeting that went well uh no no uh significant issues uh to just that we need to be concerned about everything went well uh and hopefully we'll continue on a good pace for next year as well um and uh tomorrow we're going to be meeting uh with some representatives from aabon to uh move forward towards uh hopefully finalizing the renewal of the the U uh SSA uh for the DPW uh to extend that Beyond its current lifetime so other than that uh that's about it thank you well council president uh Council or councilwoman Phillips thank you mayor I haven't done that in a while that's I don't even know anymore um I wouldn't mind being Council um so you're welcome just to piggyback on the police report um there is going to be a wreck night which stands for recognize educate and change hosted by the police department and the Camden County prosecutor's office um that's going to be November 8th at the high school from 5: to 800m there's going to be games activities snacks refreshments and all ages are welcome to attend um I believe that's the first time this is being done right chief local towns and just to connect students awesome well that should be a fun night so I would encourage everyone to go what night was that again that's gonna be November 8 at the high school from 5: to 8m okay we'll share that on social media and we'll put it on the website thank you Chief um and then for the fire department report uh we have the report from Chief hailes for September there were 27 calls in Haden Heights 24 and barington 8 to Mutual Aid four to the highway for a total of 63 calls averaging five firefighters per call with 30 of those calls being career staff um so that's continuing to go well we actually uh councilman oison and I met with the Union representatives for the fire department this morning um to start talking about the new contract which is hard to believe because I feel like we were just negotiating the last contract but here we are um so everything went well it was just a conceptual meeting we have another meeting on the books in two weeks and we don't foresee um any significant issues that caused delays in Prior years uh with respect to getting the fire department under contract so um we do think everything's going very well with our career staff and with the shared service with barington and we thank everybody for their hard work and I think that's all I have thank you thank you counc Phils councilman Pagan nothing to report mayor wonderful uh mayor's report so just uh just accolades to had Heights neighbors different than the one tonight that I spoke about in the proclamation but had Heights neighbors hosted their annual spaghetti dinner um which is a fundraiser that they run every year huge turnout um lot of young families were in attendance which is great to see for that event um so just accolate to all of the volunteers with had height neighbors they did a phenomenal job as always and also just want to give a shout out to hip for their work with siping on station another really really well attended event despite it being raining for I think like the third or fourth year in a row but again hip and the volunteers there again put on a great show great event uh in our downtown which is great because we attract a lot of people not necessarily uh just our residents you a lot of people from out of town which is great and finally I will Echo uh councilman Addison's concerns about the need for volunteers uh this town runs on volunteers um all of our committees our boards are volunte are run by volunteers and so I encourage people that are interested in volunteering to um submit a letter either a simple email reach out there's a there's a form that you can submit as well on the barel website if you're interested in volunteering for any of our boards our commissions um we typically do those appointments right after the first years so elected officials volunteers too yeah elected elected official volunteers nice of you thank you appreciate um what else all right so and that's it for the
