needs to get home for a early bedtime we understand if you need to sneak out as we all get situated she want us to sit down there Goa that's M that's right mine's getting earlier and earlier it's not that I'm getting old it's a place to get to work at I don't know why classes don't start until 8800 she wants to go but she do get organized and stuff so she just sets the alarm for 5:00 every [Applause] [Music] day so we put it there so you guys could see it as well so it make it a little easier yeah but if you feel like you can see it you can it it's okay I my glasses [Applause] so something [Applause] okay okay uh so uh this evening we have um a student achievement presentation which is really uh a sneak peek uh to what families are going to see at each of the schools um and each of the schools there'll be a little bit of a a more um in-depth presentation because it'll be um more disaggregated data more um specific to each individual School each individual grade in the schools so tonight what you're going to uh see is more of an overview of our districtwide data um once the schools do their presentations we will put both the district presentation as well as the school's presentation on the district website so um we'll start off with um just an overview of enrollment um because this this does play uh a role in our student achievement data so in terms of our enrollment data um what you can see in front of you is a breakdown of our prek um enrollment data from 201920 all the way through uh 20242 you can also see our enrollment data for kindergarten through fifth grade you can see our Middle School data from grad 6th through 8th grade our high school data 9th through 12th grade you can also see our uh total kindergarten through 12th grade data and our grades uh prek through 12 data so just to give you um a little overview I think the best thing to do is to focus on our uh pre- 12th grade data to start so you can see that in 2019 2020 our prek through 12 um enrollment uh showed a um number of 3,99 students and as of uh October 15th 2024 2025 our enrollment data was 3,667 students um you know often times people will talk about the fact that it's our kindergarten through fifth grade data that's increasing or it's our prek data that's increasing but um if you take note of for example our high school data we see an increase from 201920 from 426 students to 653 students um in in a matter of uh 5 to six years so uh if anyone has questions on the enrollment at the end of the presentation um any board members I'd be more than happy to answer those questions so now let's move into njsla Data so njsla is the state assessment that's administered to um all students in the state of New Jersey in uh Public Schools uh it's administered to students in third grade uh through 9th grade um and it's administered in English language arts mathematics and in science and so what I did was I I put some data together for you so you can see where our students uh started in 201516 and where they uh ended in 20123 24 there are a couple um years that you'll see between 2019 um and 2021 that don't exist but that's because of covid um and the pandemic um halted testing for a few years it's kind of interesting just to point out that um back in 20156 and 16 17 you can see that the district um was um underperforming in terms of the state's average um but then right around that 20189 Mark we made the crossover um and our Trend just continued to um increase and so now you can see that um our students um in grades uh 3 through 9 holistically in English language arts are outperforming the the state of New Jersey's average um what I did here for for all of you is just to provide you with a breakdown of the English language arts data by grade level so that you um could actually see where we are in each grade from 3 all the way through 9ine so you can take a look at that and while you're looking if anyone has any questions you if you want to jot them down by all means you could do so and then we'll come back to them at the end of the presentation on this next slide um what I provided for you was our data collectively at the elementary school level the Middle School level and then the high school level so that you get a sense of you know how in from 2022 to 2024 how are we doing um in terms of our performance uh kind of compar to our eles over over those three years so you can see where we are the high school has made some um wonderful uh progress in the last three years now we go into District subgroup data and what I would like to uh draw your attention to so Board of Education members in front of you there is a um a stapled uh piece of paper um two pieces of paper the first one has math data uh the second sheet of paper has Ela data so the reason that I provided this data to you is because the state of New Jersey has provided districts with um disaggregated data for both subgroups and programs so when we talk about subgroup data we're talking about um a breakdown of of students in terms of uh race and ethnicity and when we talk about program data we're talking about data in terms of um students um who fall into um different categories such as um uh free and reduced lunch status 504 status elll special education or general education the state of New Jersey does not release Statewide averages so I'm not able to provide you with the overall States average yet um that probably won't be until maybe early spring that I can provide you with the state ad averages but what I was able to do was just pull um some District presentations off of their websites that they've done over the last couple weeks and I tried to give a little bit of a range so uh you'll see there's a comparison uh of hoboken's subgroup data and um program data in comparison to I selected Tom's River North Arlington and Robinsville because it kind of gives you a little bit of a range of of districts in terms of um demographics so you can see that in mathematics um you can kind of see where where we're performing now please understand that these numbers um from the other districts do not represent the state's averages it just represents those school districts averages but I wanted to be able to give you a little bit of a a comparative view um and you can take a look at our program data so um I know a few of you were asking me some questions about our um economically disadvantaged students in mathematics and our special education students in mathematics and how they compare so you can get a little bit of a sense of how they compare against these three districts um and in terms of mathematics for example at the middle school level we're we're kind of um tackling the achievement Gap with our um economically disadvantaged students by providing a intensive um uh math Intervention Program during the school day um and so that's happening three days a week and um it started in October and it's going to run all the way through May and so we're really curious what our um economically disadvantage data will look like next year after this intensive program if you turn the page you'll see our subgroup um and program data for English language arts and um if you drop yourself your your eyes down to the program data uh piece you can see um that our special education students where they're performing um versus these three other districts you can also see our 504 students are doing extremely extremely well um and you can see um where our um elll students are are performing as well so again this is um not necessarily part of the official presentation but I did want to provide Board of Ed members with a little bit of comparison so you can see um what the subgroup and District program data looks like I also wanted to provide you with um our data uh for something called access testing not sure how many of you are familiar with access testing but if you're not familiar with it this is the testing that we use for our elll students and um we are required to uh report out what the access testing data looks like and so you can kind of see from 2021-22 we have 15% of our students in all grades because access testing um is administered across all grades uh 15% actually scored over um 4.5% and in a matter of 2 years years you have you can see uh an increase um to up to 35% and we attribute some of that to our um uh not only our elll program but also our reading interventions that we're implementing in our classes um next you can see our njsla uh data for mathematics and similarly to the njsla data for ELA you can kind of see both at that same time that 201819 time period you can see where the district is really closing in on uh the state's average and you can see where we ultimately cross over and begin to outperform the state and you can see that we are continuing to do so in 2023 24 um if you go to the next slide this is kind of interesting because um the data looks like it's um um kind of inconsistent um but I provided you with some notes on the right hand side of the slides just to give you a little bit of um some context so in 8th grade in mathematics our students have two different um types of mathematics that that they can participate in they can either take uh eighth grade a general eighth grade mathematics class which focuses predominantly on pre-algebra or they can take um Algebra 1 one in 8th grade interestingly you could see that our eighth graders that are taking Algebra 1 are far far far outperforming uh the state's average um and someone asked me at one point about how many kids is that and what is that really equate to so 56% of the 8th grade students last year took Algebra 1 um in 8th grade and um you can almost see the same phenomenon happening at the n9th grade level so at the n9th grade level um the students who are in Algebra 1 in 9th grade are the students who were in um General mathematics in 8th grade these are uh our students who um do show and exhibit some challenges in the area of mathematics and this is an area that we are absolutely working on but interestingly you could see that um 46% of n9th graders are actually taking geometry and out of the um 54% of the n9th graders who took Algebra 1 last year 20% of of those students were school choice and did not um attend our kindergarten through 8th grade program so I thought it was kind of uh interesting to provide you with a little context there uh here you can see our um Elementary our middle school and our high school level mathematics data so you could take a peek at that and then we jump into the district's subgroup data and also um The District's program data and again um in front of you um on the uh Little Packet that I gave you you can actually uh take a look and see the comparison um of the Hoboken School District um versus uh districts such as Tom's River and North Arlington and Robinsville um in terms of the uh math and Ela data it is important and and I would like to report out that um based on the data that I've been able to gather I think we will continue and we have continued to maintain the um highest performing Ela and highest performing math status uh for traditional K to2 districts in Hudson County based on the 2023 24 data as well um and recently I uh saw an article a few few of um of the administrators pointed out an article to me recently um about some of our local um school districts um uh kind of reporting out perfect scores on the njla and I thought it would be important to see that um in our grades 3 through 8 we had 48% uh 48 students scoring uh a perfect score on the njla and 16 students in math and comparatively speaking and from a percentage uh perspective um that's considered to be a pretty pretty good percentage based on on our number of students we also had 11 students at the high school score uh perfect scores as well but I didn't include that in the data because comparatively speaking it would have skewed the data um I also wanted to provide you with um some information regarding our cty program and I've I've reported out on this before we've discussed it in I think our curriculum committee meeting and I've talked about this with some of our administrators but um uh myself and Miss Rodriguez Gomez and um Miss scudo are going to be um beginning shortly a pretty intensive review of our gifted and talented program at the elementary level um we've been getting some really good feedback from parents um with some um recommendations and some some feedback and recommendations from staff about how to enhance the program a little bit how to diversify the program in terms of offerings for students um so that it isn't uh solely uh cty offerings um and however um we have noticed a really strong correlation between our CT data and as you can see from 201617 to 20242 you can actually see the um pretty dramatic increase in the number of students participating that data correlates pretty strongly with the number of students who are um falling in the exceeding category on the njsla so um we do want to make sure we keep that in mind um we thought it was kind of interesting to to let you know that um in 2016 we had 12 students registered for English language arts in John's Hopkins uh Center for talented youth um and in 2024 uh we have 192 students participating in mathematics we had the same 12 students in 2016 and we have uh now 287 students that are participating in taking John's Hopkins classes in mathematics so now on to some High School uh data so um I selected just a few years so you can kind of get a sense longitudinally where we stood and where we stand now in terms of PSATs and and msqt averages so you can see back in 20156 we fell right in the uh lower part of the 800 score level 8115 in 2023 24 uh we showed an average of uh 9942 and that um I'm not sure if everybody knows this but we do administer the PSATs to 9th 10th and 11th graders at Hoboken High School you can see our SAT average from 2015 2016 um we were at 904 in 20156 and in 2023 24 uh our average Rose to uh 1044 and now on to some of our AP programs um I selected a couple years as well back in 20178 uh we had 21% of students participating in AP program score uh a three or higher and as you know scores of three or higher um typically indicate uh college readiness um and can be used by colleges and universities um to bypass a particular class for credit um and in uh 2023 24 our percentage Rose to 79.6% um and on the next slide I you know we talk about it a lot from the perspective of overall um scores of three or higher um but often we don't really break down so you get the opportunity to see which classes you can see some growth in so I I wanted to provide you with some numbers um by class so I gave you uh 2020 um averages and these are the averages of all of our students that um took these particular AP classes and then you could see what the averages were in 2024 so you can get a sense of the growth um and and I have had people ask well that's great but um has has the enrollment increased has the enrollment not increased in our AP program and the number of students taking AP classes has dramatically increased at Hoboken High School um this is a really um nice um summary of our AP program growth on the basis of Scholars um and Awards in the AP program and if you just draw your attention down to the bottom where it um shows you the number of total scholars in 2019 um in that testing year we had seven total scholars in the AP program um and in 20 uh 24 we had 77 um it's not only at the high school are that we are focusing on College um board work at our Middle School we also have students participating in um pre-advanced placement courses our Algebra 1 course at the middle school is a preap course um we also have a pre-ap offering um in world history um in um 8th grade and then we also have um the Performing Arts uh preap courses so you can see the increase in the number of students participating at the middle school in the preap courses from 82 and 2021 122 uh to 156 in 2023 24 and the primary goal for um introducing the preap courses at the middle school is really to provide students with an opportunity to experience the um advanced placement curriculum um and the rigor of those programs so that when they get to the high school level they're not necessarily intimidated by the possibility of taking a class and they're more apt and likely to do so and we certainly see um on the basis of our ninth grade AP uh programming that many students um are are certainly willing to take the plunge and jump into AP coursework um I I wanted to provide you with also a little bit of um a background on the US News and World Report rankings so you can see that in 201819 our ranking um um high school ranking nationally was 8,618 um that ranking has Rose to 3,793 in 2023 24 at the Tri-State level um we've uh increased from a a ranking of 584 to a ranking of 372 and our Statewide ranking has risen from 265 to 155 um we also have some shoutouts and I'm not going to go through all the athletic components but I will provide you with a little bit of um an overview of some of our academic um accolades um the international schools Olympic uh academic Olympiad that we participated in last year I know you remember the board meeting when kids were given medals and it seemed like a lot of students but um we had over 300 hobokin Public School students participate in the uh international schools academic Olympiad and we had 109 Medals of excellence and 12 Medals of international distinction um also um wanted to report out that all five uh schools in the district um have earned the ability to display the US News and World Reports best uh schools ranking uh badge as they call it um and so you will be seeing um those badges um in the form of signs at each of uh the schools after this meeting all five of our schools also earned the uh Lighthouse uh distinction uh through the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence and um it's something that was extremely extremely important to our principals um and to myself and our assistant superintendent um our schools worked extremely hard staff members participated in numerous meetings with um assessors that were on site um the assessors uh administered surveys they spoke with individuals and we've reported this out before um it also included a uh pretty thorough review of our student achievement data our disaggregated data um and um provided an opportunity for our principles to uh work with an assessor on developing action plans for continuous Improvement it was a fairly rigorous process um and I think uh all of our principles feel very strongly about having gone through the process and um it's interesting because after we completed the process you will now begin to see more and more schools in New Jersey and New York um who were right behind us in this process um in fact lenp Valley just recently was awarded the lighthouse distinction um Blue Ribbon distinction and um there are a few other New Jersey schools that will also be um awarded in December um I've put on on a few of the next slides um some accolades in the area of theater uh music and marching band you can take an opportunity and look at this when we post these on the website uh once again um we were from 2021 through 2024 named uh best community for music education by the Nam Foundation um we have some great accolades in the in the area of basketball um we had our head basketball coach in 2024 was named the national division coach of the year uh we had some great accolades this school year in 2024 in boy soccer and in girl soccer as well and we certainly give a shout out to our um head Varsity soccer coach Victoria Gemma for being named coach of the year as well um and for the team winning the um uh conference Championship in tennis as you heard earlier um from Jenna our high school representative our tennis team um earned the distinction as uh Hudson County Champions and uh we give a shout out to Diana rienzo as well she was named uh conference coach of the year as well um and our volleyball team um has had a great two years of a a run um uh coach Fernandez was named Hudson County National division coach of the year last year in 2023 last year the girls uh made it all the way to the central group one girls volleyball championship we lost a heartbreaker to um New Providence uh was it New Providence who did we lose to last year who was it d d oh oh yeah denan um yeah and in 20 24 which is this year we also won the conference Championship but uh we competed in the central group one state sectional final today um and we lost in in two sets it was a a heartbreaker so um girls are are pretty upset about it but they'll be back next year team is growing and it's building we had some football highlights for this year so you can see that um Jon Walker um and um jalis Reyes and Isaiah blanks all had um statistics this year that rank them um in the New Jersey uh stats leaderboards so uh we're we're happy about that and you can see that our football team is um um uh kind of in a in a building block stage um but we look forward to great things to come from them and we also want to give a shout out to Brand Elementary School for being selected to participate in the Rucker promising practices project regarding mathematics achievement um and we should be seeing more of the Publications regarding their work uh pretty shortly and then lastly um in terms of pandemic recovery it's kind of interesting because um there is a body of work um out there um that has produced an education recovery scorecard um and as a result of the work um that we did during the pandemic um our student achievement data looks really interesting nationally um in comparison to a lot of other districts and so you can read a little bit about the project and the education recovery scorecard um it's it's a body of research um put forth by Tom Kaine at the center uh for Education policy research at Harvard and Shan Reen at Stanford's education opportunity project and um their data and their scorecard it's really interesting because you can put uh your District in and you can compare your District uh to other districts across the country and um we're waiting for them to put the uh 2024 data up um so far we have 2023 data we've had it for reading but we didn't have it for math so you can kind of see where we Stack Up and um how we've done nationally since the pandemic um you can see an upward Trend in the area of reading in grades 3 through 8 um which is the only grade level band that the scorecard um uh uses for their research uh they don't include High School uh data and then uh you can kind of see here each grade I mean each year where um you can see changes and all of our uh data um on the hobo Bing column is showing a positive trend while uh New Jersey and similar districts in New Jersey show a little bit of a more inconsistent Trend and then in mathematics uh they have finally uh included the math data and you could see where we stand in mathematics as well and where you see the dots uh the DOA lines is is during the pandemic when there was no data collected as a result of no testing and then you can also see once again um the trends and you can see where Hoboken stands in terms of our positive Trends upward where you can see New Jersey and similar districts in New Jersey's uh Trends are a little bit more inconsistent than than ours and so um at this time I want to give uh the board an opportunity to potentially ask some questions that you might have um if you don't have any questions I would definitely um encourage you to uh take a look at the school's testing reports once those are posted um because you will get a probably a better perspective on um grade level by grade level in the schools um and once we get those like I said we'll we'll post all of those but for now districtwide does anyone have any particular questions that you would like to ask ask or um have any comments anything I have a comment um so my family started out in the Hoboken Public School District in 2010 and before I say this Dr Johnson thank you for this amazing presentation because it's great to see all of this in one place but um when I started off you know with a child in prek in 2010 I could have never imagined what you just showed us tonight um and that was actually part of the reason I decided to volunteer my time um as a board of education member um because I support public education and wanted the best for all students in Hoboken um but seeing all of this in one place and the successes and the opportunities that our kids are given it makes me so proud and so grateful for all that you have done since you have been in Hoboken um and I see us going even further um under your leadership so thank you Dr John [Applause] here thank you Dr Johnson for your superintendent report we really appreciate it at this point in time we will trans no questions from anyone else on the thank you thank you Miss camor will now move on to Wellness from Miss Norwood just a minute thank you the wellness committee met on Wednesday November 6th in attendance were Dr Johnson miss mcer Mr delator Miss delara and myself there is one wellness policy on the agenda item 7.01 which the committee recommends for approval and the committee also discussed a number of other items on the agenda is the first reading of revised policy 5350 this is a revision to the district Suicide Prevention policy which requires a mental health professional to sign off on a child returning to school after a threat of self harm to ensure that that student has been cleared by an appropriate professional a list of free resources are available to those that may not have um otherwise access to uh these types of medical professionals Church Square Park safety has been a topic in our community and in light of these recent incidents in the park the administration is reached out to the hobooken police department to discuss safety issues in the park we note that the park is city property but many students are in or through the park before and after school we do look forward to being a part of the ongoing Community conversation about safety in the Park food philosophy program with Melissa benese um this uh course has been led by the baked by Melissa founder and the hbook and public schools and it kicked off on October 25th there are four sessions in the program which seek to empower students to make informed choices about the food they eat by understanding its nutritional value and its effects on their well-being the course includes Hands-On activities meals that align with session topics and the program uses produce from The District's aquaponics units the first session was very well received the District student assistant counselor Gina Mata is handling the annual receipt of and training of staff on Naran kits that are provided every year by the county at the end of the school year the kits are returned to the county there are um we're considering new sports uh for school year 2025 to 2026 Administration is sending out parent surveys to elicit interest thank you very much thank you Miss Norwood I have a brief president's report this evening I wanted to start out first of all um just saying thank you to Dr Johnson for putting together such a wonderful comprehensive presentation for us on the njsla data but also all of the ancillary achievement data and I know you miss Angley mentioned it earlier I don't think any of us sitting here could imagine this District would be where it is today um going back 10 or 12 years ago so thank you for all the hard work that you've put into getting the district to where it is these results are a product of a robust commitment from Educators administrators students and parents all of us up here remember the times when Hoboken was a low performing School District the road from that point to where we are now has not been a smooth or an easy one challenges both internal and external have been overcome all with the goal of best servicing every single student in this district and I think in looking at those results from this evening it it really shines through that this is a district that is doing its best to service every student and if something isn't working we're going back to the drawing board and you and your team are figuring out another approach and I think that's something that should be commended investing in our teachers and students yields really tangible results and I I personally am so proud of the work that's been done here think I can say that on behal of everyone who's sitting up here but I want to emphasize that this work continues it's not something that's done it's a school district is a living breathing organism and I know from the conversations we've had already this fall that you and your team have some really amazing things planned for the future but I personally want to thank each and every teacher and administrator for their tireless commitment to our students it does not go unrecognized to our principes who are here great I wish there were more people here for you but we're so proud of all of you and lastly this weekend there is a great opportunity to see our high school students on the stage performing The Broadway classic a Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum the show opens Friday at 7 p.m. and will continue through the weekend with two performances on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and a 2 p.m. performance on Sunday please come out and support our amazing theater Department I think the show is going to be fabulous and it's a great way to get to you know engage in some fun and arts locally right here in Hoboken so next we will go to public comments on agenda items and before we get started I'll read my disclaimer over the years and most recently the board has been asked why it does not prohibit or stop comments about School District employees from individuals who speak during the public comment portion of the meeting the short answer answer is that the law prevents the board from censoring comments made about District Personnel the board does not condone nor is the board a party to comments as such however just because a speaker may have the right to say what he or she feels it does not absolve that speaker from liability for any comments that could be viewed as defamatory by an employee should speakers say something that subjects them to a civil suit the responsibility Falls squarely on the speaker and not on the board board policy requires that all speakers please state your name Municipality of residence and business affiliation if any speakers are allowed 5 minutes and vice president engley will quietly motion when you have 30 seconds left please address all comments to the chair board policy states the board welcomes comments on matters of interest to the board but this is not an opportunity for dialogue or debate between speakers and board members or the superintendent Miss W this is so funny that you give that presentation but you fail to mention that you guys have an attorney here Mr goggly Ari that super season so when you say risking a lawsuit you feel like you got confidence in Mr gardi am I right so I can't address him either with these matters and I'm an employee in in-house mayor this is not designed to be a back and forth between you and I need an answer so I can proceed address all address address your comments to me and move on from Mr these are your clients am I right just the you sir just placed on the record so learn professionalism please and try to bring some Integrity back into the board I'm here to speak on a few items is this agenda items cuz I can say my other comments for the public potion this is comment on agenda items okay it's real disturbing I was told and also another employee was told that you cut in funding and fundings are short and we don't have no funding I'm seeing grants I'm seeing hes I'm seeing well again the stiens on page Francis oh I don't want to say names either cuz nobody's sign the right SM but on 10:09 10:08 approv this young lady $2,858 three times I hope just with it being written three times that's three times she get paid or is that just one stien and that ain't no dialogue I need an answer cuz we we talk about this far too many times the same title the same exact band title chores whether you're singing dancing Elementary advisory she get that three times right first first of all it's he he she I'm sorry well I don't give names the individual they get that three times yes because it's three distinct different activities good let me go do this fast that's good Lu um the sniping all again on the next page the following page 10.11 the approval of 997 that's just a one time stien right for the africanamerican yes that's a that's a one-time stien for advising the African-American Club they advise for the duration of the entire school year so that's one time $997 no matter how much time the person puts into it okay so that's a whole different scenario from the 2,000 three times okay I'll come back on a public portion and to disposal of the equipment this the first time ever seeing this when I overheard yesterday a parent was told to do a police report over broken computer is this why because the disposal of the computer and you being very rude I'm going to give you an opportunity you can address your boss Miss Dr Johnson or whatever but I'm talking to you I'm addressing the chair as you said in the beginning okay so can we give respect on both Avenues thank you go right ahead and the and the big the big for the um the two bids the 30 90 93,000 make sure I got it right for the artificial [Applause] intelligence these are not bids these actually grants and um Mr Grand said tonight please approve yes I mean these grants are for like the whole district is our kid allowed to utilize it because we definitely some um the artificial Intel is this a class these two grants Mr gr maybe you can help them out you mentioned the grants it's on the agenda could you tell just reference what agenda item it is and we can tell it's on it's on it's two WIS it's just two I just want to know is it like how we going to utilize that money is it a grant for a class or whatever AI the AI Grant yes the AI is another the the AI Grant is a New Jersey Department of Education Grant that's um a competitive Grant it's for a whole host of things like um professional development for staff members um for purchasing technology um Innovation Innovation the whole language all right so this is what I'm saying and artificial intelligence these going to be classes that our kids could utilize also correct if we're granted the if if we if rewarded the grant if you get the reward for the grant was other bids this was up for bid for anybody it's not it's not a bid we are submitting to the state of New Jersey for grant funding and then they will select the districts who receive the grant funding we're not guaranteed it all this is doing is the board approving our application and we're at 5 minutes that's sufficient all right I'm wrapping it up with the thank you checklist see the facility director here Miss been five minutes the on aenda I'm wrapping it up I said the facilities director is to it's been miss waiters it's been 5 minutes you're welcome to come back up for comments on non-agenda items so I just closed it out one second I'm asking you about the facility directly to agend and it's and it's been 5 minutes you want respect from me you have to respect our time where's the courtesy too I see people come up here all the time and wrap it up and you give them the courtesy I'm going ask you a simple question I just want to know you have another 5 minutes and comments on agenda agenda item I just ask where do the funding go I don't need you to get upset every time just that was would have been a second you just gave me more than that I just want to know where do the funding go which which particular funding on which of them you got two co uh I think one of them is z here we go right here before you interrupt me this is all I wanted to know simply it says facility directed they renting our facilities where do the money go y'all have a ky the money comes back into the school district all right thank you that's all right I'll be [Applause] back no no more questions no more um Mr another speaker it's not it's not hi good evening Christopher Muno Hoboken Education Association I'm a teacher at Hoboken High School I just want to clarify that the member that was brought up in question is being being paid three separate stiens as you mentioned um president mcer for this uh for these positions there are three separate positions not being paid three times for the same thing and I want to clarify that because it's clearly stated in the agenda also uh the what this is compared to the African-American Culture Club are two separate roles and responsibilities uh one's program one's an AF school program and they're paid at h8 rate so it's not like we are prioritizing early ear morning chorus over the African-American Culture Club at hobok high school which as the Student Activities coordinator I'm proud that the African-American Culture Club is coming back but as an haa representative as a vice president I couldn't in good conscience sit in the audience and have it presented as it's being one members being paid three separate times they three different job roles thank you thank you thank you Mr M we're going to move on to our consent agenda is there a motion motion second miss good can you please call the role yes I can miss Angley I am going to abstain on 6.02 and yes on everything else Miss camori yes Miss Dela yes Mr delator yes Mr Grana yes Mr Mr kful yes Miss Norwood I'm abstaining on 1303 and yes on the rest 1303 thank you um and Miss mcer abstaining on 10.04 and yes on everything [Applause] else motion passes we will now move on to public comments on agenda and non-agenda items Miss Waiters [Applause] Patricia waiters and for the record I'm doing my own five minutes cuz I'm not here to make an enemy and you cannot silence me cuz I'm going to say it anyway this is serious when I come out here I'm out here for almost 4,000 or more people that voted for me okay and clearly the last speaker it's embarrassing when you get up here and you try to defend wrongdoing I you know exactly where I was going with that three different thing that one person doing three different things I'm guess him him used to go and do the same people come up here all the time and question your integrity okay so I can list anything and that's how politics go in this town dirty politics so that bring me back to what I'll be speaking about tonight miss mcer since the last election between you and I you raised concerns okay whether it was legal or was I doing something illegal with respect to somebody donating me a few Flyers however I had the contract here I mean I'm sorry to compl here from one of my opponents that served on your ticket was charged you an attorney you was Char again let me finish because when stuff is public information you cannot hide it okay this is public I shared it with everybody but my main focus is not holding you guys accountable I don't care if you friends with Mr BR you friends with Dr Johnson you friends with Tom I don't want to be nobody's friend I'm going to get to the bottom of this okay since I'm the underdog that y'all always attack every year I'm told not to run I'm being harassed and I said it for 2 years and Council please please I didn't even look at it as a friend clearly professional I reached out to you you waited 4 days later you contact me and this is your statement okay you said to me I am not authorized to discuss the district matters with an individual employee and you also reiterated on what I said earlier you are their client okay those are your clients right so if those are your clients it's a huge conflict of interest when I told you I got over aund we've been doing this for two years I got over 193 videos that I've been in court and you keep telling me that the Board of Education don't supposed to have nothing to do with the union and what the union did to me you absolutely correct however I called the New Jersey bard of Education Association you know who they sent me back to you I got everything in writing I keep notes still to present you ran against me three more times none of you had enough Integrity To Say pat let's me you told me clearly here you're not having this conversation with me not even knowing what I'm talking about I'm being harassed still I'm still employed I'm being retaliated against and when you asked me I told you I got proof this is what's disturbing so when we went to court Thursday rewind and update the judge looked at the prosecutor cuz you know what he said I want to take and change my venue but because it's a conflict of interest Robbie you your Law Firm is on Robbie's contract guys and I asked you for 2 years let's do this right there are 4,000 people that voted for me and is fired up and fed up you keep winning and sitting up there claiming Victory with all of this Shenanigans I'm telling you I'm not going nowhere I'm telling you out of respect because all of y'all sitting up there y'all kids are benefiting and parents is still coming to me our kids are being kicked out they at home I work here every day is disgusting it's none of yall kids you come and pick up your kid I'm taking my kid to the my kids is going home for disciplinary issues this is serious guys do what you got to do to me I'm ready to fight and I'm asking you Council please please find it in your heart to find some type of integrity and bring back to this boy to protect the reputation of this border of Education cuz we far too way in y'all all look the opposite way and took a disregard to the seriousness what happened to me and my family you have families that live here we don't need no Outsiders coming in this community dividing our families and hurt so many people in spite of being scared of me and y'all losing power y'all made my enemy just like you you everybody watching you you just started an argument with me the ahead this way this but I've seen people I've been come to meet in 27 years standing here and you say okay go ahead wrap it up people watch or disrespect me three times Mr comfor the seat became available y'all didn't put me in that seat do you know how to make my people feel people that look like me the Latinos the blacks the Housing Authority 30 seconds Miss waiters they are fed up and I can't help but get emotional cuz my kids is being impacted my parents are being impacted just like your kids in the district we depend on the public school district we don't have money but we can go elsewhere with your kid with a nice cushy job your kid with a job my daughter qualify one can't get one cuz I'm pathway not cuz it ain't no fun cuz I pathway Mr go I'm rapping it and I'm ending it with this and I promise you I will do it for minutes I need you to put me in the right direction and yes I will be following up with this please please let's do what's right for this community thank you there there's no other names on the agenda [Music] she has I I it's in the same email I'll take it so the the board president has asked me to respond publicly and I I don't know that she saw the the email that I sent you so I I just want to be clear for you and for anyone who might be concerned about what you have to say what what the email said is that I am not authorized to respond to complaints from employees one might only imagine what the district's legal bills would look like if I was but the email also said that there are avenues for you to have your concerns heard so there is a a grievance process through the union there is an affirmative action office uh that is available to all employees and then of course there's the court system that you made reference to so there are many vehicles available for you to articulate your concerns have them investigated and have them addressed my response which you only read a small portion of is that the board does not expect their outside Council to be that vehicle for hearing concerns when there are other wellestablished avenues for you to have your concerns heard and
