##VIDEO ID:Pqhr0eKU6KM## 516 we'll start the um meeting for the 300th committee all right so um I've got some uh not the best news as far as our um $50,000 that we the grant we got from the um state from the office of uh tourism and travel I um I got some Communications from them was looking into it and everything has to be used up by this particular year by June 30th so yes I did send to them room 203 that's because I sent you the wrong [Laughter] one something's miss here something's wrong can we prepay for anything so that's what I'm hoping I'm I Communications with them today um so some stuff they pay like 50% and then when you get the rest of it they'll pay the other half so I'm hoping um either some of the speakers we can book ahead of time we can see about um the hall paying the hall off and stuff and then uh you know some some of these things mighton be able to pay and then as we get money back um we can put it back in the so we can I I'm not thinking it's a complete waste but I don't know if we'll be able to spend all of the 50,000 could we buy a bunch of merch so we have stuff to sell that's also possibility too I don't know how much we'll need but right the live sales haven't been that great yet but we that's true we um we haven't done them either true we need to find we froze we we didn't make an hour and a half and we had three sales and I was one of them yeah and she bought the pajama P She was cold they're actually very comfortable I absolutely love them so everyone's getting them for next Christmas it was a great location for past luminaries because everyone's right there at the greens and nobody wanted to stay out this year too cold so as a result of we everyone exactly was we're we're also extremely early on we are a lot of interest people have been interested in it and asking about it so hopefully with the next year coming up we will start to do some sales yeah and maybe we can get get going on an ornament for next year you buy this year start selling those in the fall yes so because that would draw people too and if we get the V that could help so yeah so I know it has to be done by the fiscal year but what's like the date like how how far until we're pushing it if we all paperwork has be submitted for payment by June 30th okay so we really want to be done probably by like May 1 or something by May yes yeah okay just sub submitted yes y um and I will they said I'm in Communications with the woman in that office and I will find out um like if we can do some down payments if they'll pay those and then the rest of it we'll have to worry about later on or if they yeah want everything paid for from those funds before so okay I can uh sure um challenge accepted yes right so then uh let's see so other than that I said we um we have the the very miserable um attempt at selling merchandise on a very cold luminary night um but uh we still have a lot of um bu merchandise that we can do sales in the future at town events so that's um that's a good thing coming up um see what else with fundraising anybody else have anything with fundraising no but could I ask a question sure um about the house tour because that's my my area um I told you I don't think we will need any funding from the town to to support this event but I'm going to ask for a fee for people to do that so money will come in that will pay for the book of printing it will pay for the U costume and actor um what happens to the extra money extra money I'm hoping goes back to the historic to the um the committee and then if we have any like we have I can't remember the exact it was $36,000 that was left over from the 275th anniversary so if this committee has any money left over it will be it go 325th yes okay okay um so actually if you have I have nothing yet if you are able to have things done by April or so and you want we could possibly purchase all that stuff with this money and then anything you get back can come it won't be ready okay I don't think so um we're not planning to do it until 2026 yeah so we've got plenty of time and I'm I've only got a couple of places location set up so i' I've got a long way to go but I just didn't know logistically how it's going to work so that's why I'm ask it will come back I'll get my garden for people to be doing if the and all that but I just didn't know as long as we keep it within our the income that we reive were good to go yes um and then another thing I'll do too is I will speak with um representative lak's office and see the feasibility of maybe turning this back in and getting it next year right again it will still have to be used by June of next year but we'll we'll already be starting some of our projects so I think that will be easier to spend the money I would if if we're going to go that route I would make sure we have in writing that it will exactly yeah I don't know what the states yeah financials are gonna be next year so that's why I want to have a conversation with them before John is there anything else you could prepaid like got fireworks or anything I I need to see if we can do how far out we can and um if they'll I don't know if they'll even put a package out if we don't have location yet we have a couple of ideas there's only limited places in town that we can have fireworks one being in the high school um so um if we have a couple if we can give them a couple preliminary locations they might be able to put a package together for us and we can prepay that yeah and again I need to check with the state and see how far out they're pay they may not pay out that far so but we'll we'll check with all that John I have another a question too um I know on the rec side we've pretty much approved being able to sell stuff just about everything yep what about the scorting events like paddle Street on a Saturday in the middle of the summer gets packed it's all up to volunteers we can have to volunteer to get out there I mean you'll def I mean I wouldn't see an issue that stuff be sold down definitely would yes yeah so just a have we um have we talked to yet to like um to the school or um like uh The Scouting if they need volunteer hours things like like that um I did speak with the principal and I just need to get an email to her and there's one teacher that's kind of interested in the history um that they uh she's going to put me in touch with and then they definitely would U put it up for all the students that need hours um so I did prelim talk to her um we just need to send an email and get it official okay and then uh the only thing with that is um that's fine we'll just have to have um some sort of an adult with them like you can't just have just the students selling the merch for us so that's all we just have to have a volunteer with them yeah all right anything else on um funding or fundraising okay so one other fundraising idea yep just an offshoot if we had any sort of even here right selling Christmas trees is next year to benefit the 300 um it's a possibility the problem is Christmas trees have skyrocketed the last few years and I know places that used to sell them aren't selling them anymore because they can't get them yeah um if we can find a vendor to do it them it's a possibility yeah that's it I'm done no bring ideas it's great um um and we don't have any meeting minutes from the last one okay it's okay all right so as far as some of our ideas um the Time Capsule that we wanted to open up um I did a little more research and we're not going to be able to open it up the one that's on the corner of the font school it was actually put there with the plans to open it in 76 so um that we were going to use the night um I want to say it's June 16th that's the the day the town became a town uh so I would still like to have something that night um we'll just have to come up with something else to do so where is that time I believe it's on the um right front corner of the CL school okay or the step right front step somewhere and it's not like a a war time Capel no I think it was done by the by the 250th committee I think so [Music] yeah not for us to do so it's for the two I'd like to be here for that I'm not sure for 350 I think yes yeah um they'll have to come something yeah we have to come up with something but I'd like I know it's a Tuesday night but since that's the actual date I would like to maybe we can bury our own time get that's a possibility too you know yes we'll be aw J will be here for the 350 only be6 I think I'll miss cou years I think I'd like to see that come on we'll have you dig we'll give you a [Laughter] shovel all right so we don't have any bills um so as far as working groups are concerned um the parade um I reached out to Oli maso I used to be a selectman here in town um and he is one of the um organizers of the Kingston Thanksgiving Day Parade uh he said he would be willing to um be on that working group and help us with the parade and he also um came up with the idea of building a float for our parade and then also putting it in the Plymouth parade in 26 um to celebrate the fact that we were per for 100 years yeah that's cool okay so hopefully now we have we have a few members for that working group so we can get moving forward on the parade right he loves parade ideas yeah right anybody else have anything with they working with no I'm disappointed to say that Lisa turot who I mentioned last time has a great graphic design background um has she's going to be in Florida okay they have computers there well she's been emailing my newsletters from Florida every month but um but it's not as easy to work with her when she's not yeah available so yeah I got things lated for the summer for her to do so okay but I just thought I'd let you know it isn't like she's around to come to meetings and all that [Music] someone has learned how to say no darn it yeah she my vice president great loss for me right great okay all right any other of the working groups if you find you need some expenditures to work with that state funding um I certainly could come up with and then get re I could reimburse you know what I'm saying yeah to because we don't have anything to work with at this point so right um but anyway okay just that's just like maybe we can pay for a graphic design or to stuff you know and pay them up front at least to do to design yeah and if we want any like Pamplin or Ro four all the fer yeah there's tons of stuff I can reach out to the um gentleman who actually did the new revamped our Tom sale okay who did the the merch that we have like that design those designs where did that all come from the gra huh fire um her and Miss B work together on that yes okay okay cool otherwise was I'm sorry yeah I grew up um yeah all right um so the other big thing and I know we you know as a group thinking everybody wants an old home day and that's like one of our biggest things we still don't have um anybody to like run that so like collaboratively we're going to have to come together and start planning that yeah if we can't get a subcommittee for that or a working group for that um I think I don't know how much the expend is going to be other than like I know we're planning to do the fireworks during that and that will be um some money but um I think that's probably going to be the most work as about planning and organizing anybody have any ideas on that right now we haven't even approached the school yet which we should um but that's probably most likely going to be the best place place as far as parking um places enough space and everything and then go the fireworks so when were you planning to do what time of year what part of year that I believe we were thinking um in July okay so school is not no school's not there yes never let us do it otherwise I mean I don't know much of what's involved I'm happy to officially join that sub committee but I don't I don't know if I share it I say because I don't know anything about it I've never been here for one but so really they they were at the turn of the last century no pictures this but so I I know like they are different like they' have um like clam bake and then games and stuff like that like Fair similar yeah so it's I think it's really open to our imagination what we want to do if we want to incorporate some stuff that they did in the past and then some new stuff right yeah okay [Music] um think the right person oh yeah not her no I can ask him he's expressed some interest in help few ago call on the way out [Laughter] hey yeah he got a little bit of time right that be awesome yeah um could incoming seniors be a resource maybe they already have their community service hours no they definitely will that would be um a big part of it other than selling merchandise um for these functions like the day of the parade um the day of the um old home day that that's where a lot of these volunteers will come in handy they could run events for the kids and stuff the fields and rep Department getting involved yep the agricultural they people that have it here they have a lot of people that come in and do trucks F trucks all that maybe I I can contact Jean Landis nowman who runs that and see if she has any suggestions of who we could do okay I don't know yeah know that's we just need to stop putting ideas together so that's great right okay I can yeah Clan bake me I know town Carver does still does old home days and yeah a long time logistically that might be too much but if it's possible that's what they did in the past so maybe um from the a committee maybe um couple of our oyster guys John we they may know where to get you know they have a lot of contacts vors I can ask John yeah just to get ideas of all right so I will um I will get an email to the principal to start uh the process of looking for volunteers for things um I'll also um probably over at the admin building I'll contact them and see about the possibility of using the school grounds and what that's going to entail um once we start to pull a plan together I can see what we can do from Rec maybe have some games or something like that out there okay you know but we'll we'll get the plan and then I'll bring it to them and we'll see what we pull together okay because you're saying in July right yeah so I mean we'll all have staff by then too work out [Music] fine so actually I'll check with the police too because they do the um National Night Out they luse the school so I'll find out from them how they um coordinate if there's a fe I no um no it's been at Sil Lake for the last few years oh that's how longent time yeah but the only thing with silver lake is it's not it's its own entity it's not right associated with the town so I don't know if they if there are fees or if they'll let us use it or what that is'll have to talk with them um any other ideas for old home get started yeah nothing for my end so okay I was like one lick away from eating from winning a blueberry pie eating contest when I was like six and I can't haven't been able to eat a blueberry pie since okay maybe not for you no but I won't enter it I'll judge just thinking like Old oldfashioned Fair Bob for Apple I don't know whatever yeah but I can talk to Tom and see Tom ddy probably has research on what some of the activities yes I think they have all that information at The Archives sure Tom probably be able to Tom would Delight in putting together a report on that we all know how Tom is but yeah I can do a little different see yeah I'll see what I can find like you know I'm looking at that picture up there and I'm like you know par cow right exactly um but yeah I'll see what I can find I will tell you something fun that we did over on wh um years ago on the wreck there I forget exactly what we called it but there was a grid 100 squares and you'd sell them and you had the cow EXA it's so much fun she did it at the agricultural I think High School ran it the high school yeah yeah that's what saying she's gonna be a we ideas for that type of thing yeah yeah the cow is that what they call something different but it was along that lineing or something we did that for a fundrais and there's also another like fundraiser that we had done because a helicopter drop so everyone you could buy as many tickets as you want helicopter would come by and do all sorts of trick flybys but it was carrying a bag of golf balls you'd set a go pin out there yeah and eventually after it was done doing it flybys it would drop the balls and the closest ball to the pin one right whatever the PO was yeah so she would actually have a lot of info on it yeah yeah if we're not even get a helicopter we have the the truck the tower truck yeah that that as well so that's a possibility okay yeah of [Music] yeah any want volunteer you know you TOS the ball and then fall oh yeah a guy if it's hot I'll go like be fun to get like some like notable people around town and you pay a certain amount of money to get to volunteer do but like if you want like to get John up there it's going to be hundred bucks you know or whatever it is but yeah if you were willing that'd be fun yeah those kind of things are fun $500 for [Laughter] him I don't busy J carries I one my sister-in-law's baby shower did you really it was I think it was a br shower it was August it was hot and I knew that my brothers and other kids are gonna be around sisterin-law was like what once it got hot people were like I'll go that's all right um so nothing else under the working groups um anything any luck with any recruitment anybody so my son is g to come in he just hasn't filled out the paperwork yet because he was getting through finals but he's definitely I asked him before I left and he said absolutely right okay so whatever you want to use him for he's willing to do okay y we'll find something for him um what probably a couple of things that then we'll see um which one he has interest in sure um all right I can almost guarantee you if Mike does that old home day he'd probably go in and help him with it because he's got a good relationship with Mike oh good okay so that works um I did have somebody uh reach out through a work colag um and let see [Music] um this woman was on I believe the 275th committee and showed interest in giving us some information and also um possibly being on Lori Allen I don't know who that is I don't know if anybody do sounds familiar but I see a lot of names so I um I did leave a message for her I'm waiting to hear back um so that might be a possibility somebody else in [Music] committee and then again if you want to get the word out if if people want to help out but I don't want to officially be on the committee all these working groups will need some volunteers and it won't be as much work just individual projects so um I really don't have any other ideas with recruitment just still trying to put it out on websites and um yeah I think now that we're getting closer more yeah all right does anybody have anything on the new business okay I don't have anything under the new business so that's really it for tonight should ahead um just just quickly should we plan for probably you know maybe not February but maybe March or April double up the meetings if we're going to need to spend that money not yeah do we want to um so maybe go for two in March yeah I mean I probably wouldn't say that we need to do it unless we have a game plan so maybe that should be a focus of of February okay yeah we um I'll put that on the agenda for February just because we're gonna that's going to be a that's definitely something we need to do yes yeah what date do you have for that February meeting well everything is the third Thursday so right now February is the 19th sorry did I say Thursday the third Wednesday John I need to know the accurate information here don't scw me up I many meetings sorry right I do too February when that's why I'm asking February 19th thank you is the third Wednesday February 19th all right in this room downstairs um or upstairs not quite sure yet um all right so I'll check them out yes I'll try to um I was trying to be more diligent sending out the agenda and I sent out the wrong one so I will try to make sure I get the right one next time but I knew when nobody was up there I thought that was you walking in ahead of me it was me yeah and I went right upstairs because the agenda I got in the email said 203 so that's where I went and the room was dark and I cancel it and I wasn't we were gonna come get you all right John I may have one thing I don't know if this is new business but um Carol Anderson Jones Village Historical Society U mentioned wondering if um you know likely during the summer um if the committee would like to like have a lunch on the Bradford House lawn okay and maybe combine it with house tour and something showcasing you know that place told her we're we're using Brad house for the house tour and we're getting a reenactor who will be in costume that's great well that's and I already discussed it with her but I didn't give her a time frame as to when we were going to do it so maybe the year the summer before it could be a preview event to have a lunch in there and talk about what's coming The Following fall is she gonna do the breakfast this does I don't know I think it was getting to be a little too much so I was right so but like we could if they are doing that us as a committee maybe host one right didn't she they was suggested last year but they could join the book committee and I but I don't think we it was kind of short of notice we didn't have the volte to do it we did with enough notice I think we could do that hopefully they're gonna do them um because they have a leadership vacuum Historical Society Carol needs to step down and they got their annual meeting coming up next month to see if anybody emerges but it's kind of Uncertain hopefully they'll have the breakfast this summer but um she's been looking for definitely committee could join in with this community be there that happens um so the reenactor he charges a feet right oh yeah I'm think I could get the money up front um Michelle what's her name m what whatever her name Bing Binger Ballinger yes she was going to let me know who that is and I so I may get someone else but anyway yeah I don't know what the feed would be depends upon the length of the house tour okay usually it's a 4our St so I could find out and get that money up front that would be a good thing I think yeah there's also so back behind the screen all those walking trails yep and some bodies of water so we did like but they don't there's no current water no you know rubber ducky race or something like that no but we could do that something on I would love do on theones be able to recover that's all right yeah maybe again you could probably get something by the um the what's the boat yard there the um oh The Landing The Landing yeah um probably like release them somewhere around there and then further down line yeah that's a possibility and then retrieve them all out of the [Music] Marshall mosquito go to the liary we did have a meeting were going to told you I come but point about that sure yeah no it was really successful um for the holidays um part of the in concert with the the book that that we're doing um we proposed a then in now Photo Expo and a speaker series um uh had some you know most of you sorry I'm sorry really great photography but the idea is um the then drawing from the you know vast archival photos you know earlier 1900s Etc and then you know complement them with um some great photos that we're getting today of of just people at work in town and of uh people who you know serve the town as as John knows and we have great selection fire department and retired Chiefs and um Veterans Day with the dedication of Memorial we have incredible photos of all people there Etc said that's just like one example um of those photos and the trustees um and the director really supported um they're thinking of maybe hosting uh two to three um like monthlong Photo expos in the library likely in the back kind of the the hallway make it a gallery um yeah use the gallery space and then also um speaker series um and that's a lot of ideas are coming up but um some of the topics tied in with content in the book but a lot of others and to bring in some exciting people make it not like you know most of them not like sort of acad mic or very Niche talks something bigger uh it was suggested the other night if you remember from Chronicle Peter mgan used to do that show um he's in situ and he approached town a couple years ago this they were working on developing a Southshore Heritage Trail which Kingston's a part of um Southshore Irish Heritage Trail um and the the you know tidbits of the town's history and immigrants coming here and all that is part of the the trail maybe we can get someone like Peter to do a talk just that's just one example something that might have some broader interest um so they trustees um like the idea they'd like to start the Photo Expo the summer um potentially and that could help you know help a SI kicking off things that that you plan everybody has plann is your photographer's name Ed n he came for theal anything else on the new business no okay so um hearing that that's all I have for tonight so thank no just a quick question what is the process if I wanted put some people to be on the committee I'm thinking Jan might want want to be on this committee um do I go through your office first to get to do my office SEL they they you the select they send it back to us when we talk about it and then we send it back and say yes and they um V them in but doesn't Paul have to swear them in that's after select first write a letter to them and then they will okay Y and anybody can any well process yeah she's been on many committees she that's why yeah she was also select at one point yeah new I know know she's on like three different but I think she would be um very have a lot of information to I thought I would ask okay great that would be great so good I move to a journ yeah we could just um kind of work on some of the ideas for the old home day and then any expenditures that anyone can think of for the next meeting okay so that someone has a motion to ADN I move we adjourn second all in favor thank you everyone
