the adoption of a resolution by the mayor council on the second of January 2024 in which resolution the time and place of agenda regular meeting with janary set for Park coar and a copy of the nost I first of all want to say thank you so much to uh Mr Speakman uh over there uh you did an amazing job I don't I'm sure everybody heard um Santa came around yesterday and when you get to see the behind the scenes of what actually goes into Santa happening between the police department the DPW from both belmare and leomo from everybody at Burrow Hall in both towns to everybody who was included in it who volunteered their time not only is it an amazing thing that to pull off to be able to do both towns in one night it was so heartwarming and so Amed amazing to see firsthand so I just wanted to say thank you so much excellent job and to our to our bur employees you guys knocked it out of the park amazing job um on behalf of the tourism commission just a reminder about the um because councilwoman call is not here just a reminder about the lights on the 19th make sure you have those lights lit up for us for our holiday contest and also the manora lighting on the 29th than that all DPW just a reminder that today was the last day uh for brush pickup until that starts back up in the spring um however Christmas trees will be picked up uh for at least several weeks after Christmas you to everyone who made last night very special I apologize I could not get out to see Santa and his helpers last night although I was very aware that they were going around I think everybody heard them um I did get a couple text messages from a bunch of elves telling me where they were I just couldn't get out to see them so thank you to everybody in Lake Como and Bel um and anyone that had uh anything to do with last night's success it was not a fun night to be out um it the weather was not the best but it was a success uh so thank you very much uh again we have the contest tomorrow and then not tomorrow Thursday and then we have our Hanukkah celebration on the 29th so I'm looking forward to seeing you there um this is the final meeting of our 100th year here in Lake com um our year-long anniversary comes to an end uh it's very interesting because uh our meeting in June when it was our exact 100th anniversary to the day I gave a little history of South Belmar lakeo I got a file in my mailbox today from Jack Ruther who was a former mayor here in South belmare in the 80s and he gave me a piece of information that I did not know in 1984 there was actually a question on the ballot to change the name from South Belmar to lakea which I did not know that that had happened previously to 2006 um the question went on and there's actually a letter here from the mayor about answering questions that was sent out to to Residents uh I texted former mayor Ruther uh and asked him if he remembers really what happened obviously the the the question failed because they didn't change the name and he said that only about 35% of the voters supported the name change at the time he does remember that a house on Main Street had a painted large piece of plywood on their front lawn that said South Belmar forever um obviously they moved um but 20 years later the name change happened uh and in his letter to in his letter to uh the residents he did line out some history of the name South Belmar and Lake Kom and I did not know well I mean I kind of knew it but I did not know it officially that the man who the two men who changed the name of the actual Lake from three corners Lake to Lake Como was Henry yard of Ocean Beach which was at the time Ocean Beach which is now Belmar and William force of norc who owned land a and they changed it in the name of their favorite vacation place in Northern Italy Lake com so I thought that was very interesting and aopo that I got that history tonight um other than that I wish everybody a happy holiday uh Merry Christmas Happy Hanukkah and we will see you throughout the Break um thank you for everything everybody has done this year it was a big year the 100th anniversary was a big year for Lake Como I think it was a tremendous success I want to thank uh council president witty who really year Headed the idea of having a 100th anniversary five or six years ago when we first talked about it uh that it was coming up uh and without your uh dedication it probably would not have been such a success so thank you very much and thank you to everybody who pulled off a very successful and a great year um other than that disabilities find and maintain employment and uh I'm here before you to ask for permission to host our 5K that we've done this would be our third year in a row uh we usually start right at bar run around the lake and back uh it helps raise money and funds for our organization and uh it's gone throughout the entire state but this is our third year doing it this will be our third year doing it here and uh any questions i' gladly answer them so um we'll just hold off on that for a second when we talk about it um if we have any questions sure we'll ask you to come back up and you can answer meeting information um you can we can see that it the host the date is February 8th the time of the event is 8:00 am to 12:00 p.m um The Run uh okay you can come back up um the run the event starts at 8 the run will start approximately when 10 o'clock the run will start at 10 The Run starts at 10: yeah we uh you know 8 o00 for us to set up and get everything out and make sure we're you know we're prepared for the race at 10 um did you have a conversation with the chief yet the not this year yet no true thank you mayor I actually did have a conversation with the chief there are costs associated with this um on the police department yes um I don't believe the chief is under aware that this is an 8 clock but typically start that early andless there something else at the council so 8:00 would be the time that you start setting up correct right so there would be no no need for Road closes or anything that early no no the race doesn't start till 10: that's when we would need and I and from previous races uh I know um Spring Lake doesn't want us blocking off their road which is fine you know we met we did it last year without the road closers there and it was perfectly fine uh so yeah so I mean we we can even get there later if 8:00 is too early uh I know we've done eight the past couple years but we can you know show up a little bit later and get it prepared quicker so I can coordinate that with the chief and that being said I believe the cost will go down okay so we we'll change the start time till 9 o' yeah that's fine if that if that works best for you absolutely yeah I I I haven't seen an application with 8:00 on it usually it's usually 9:00 is the start time which is which is time F and you can actually get once you can get the bar whenever you want right you're coming at a bar yeah absolutely you can get the bar whenever you want start setting up yeah but the the application is really for Public Safety oh yeah no yeah 9 o00 is um and it looks like the route is the um it's the normal 5K route I say normal it's the usual 5K route but you will be running on the Lake path when you get into Spring Lake correct you do last year yeah that's what we did last year too do you have to go for approval to Spring Lake as well uh we submitted an application okay you just haven't been heard yet no and we didn't last year either we just submitted it that was it appropriation for 2024 this is where we're taking uh money from some accounts that are accessed and moving to other accounts that are needed the total transfer would be $ 53,55 s um I have a motion to by councilman ventrice uh thank you may so offer resolution 20241 151 resolution of the B Lake com Council executive sessions whereas the B Council of the B Lake com must discuss matters which are not appropriate for discussion in a public meeting and whereas the subjects are within the exceptions to the open public meetings act and are permitted to be discussed in closed session pursuing TSA 10 4-12 B 7 uh these are matters covered by the attorney Cent privilege it's estimated that the session will not be more than 30 minutes after which the council will return and adise public than you have installation and repair of storm water dream pipeline at Burman Park whereas the burough was awarded grant money through the American Rescue plan and with that funding the burough desires to install and repair the storm water drainage in parking lot for the bur Park entrance three quotes were solicited uh the apparent low quote was receiving amount of 24925 therefore be resolved by the mayor council to a the contract referen to that marac Mechanical Contractors of M thank you just to reiterate that this is grant money this is money that was awarded to us in a grant yes sir do I have a awarding a contract for the parking lot improvements at bman Park which piggybacks off of what councilman uh dant twano just said it is from the same grant money uh through that American Rescue plan and this is for the parking lot at bman Park um for this there were three quotes that were solicited for the above project the apparent low quote was received from Fernandez construction of Monroe in to the maying council because the few times I spoke here I gave you information which was good when I knew it before I got sick and apparently the rules and regulations have changed because I uh I put a op request on certain properties and I gave they address the block and the block number and I just ask for the sales comparables and you know it's uh my request makes no reference to any existing government document subject the OPA request which is what I got from the woman on the end Miss B yeah but I spoke to Chris the assistant tax assessor of M County the reason years ago I go in bof I say listen I go to the tax assessor I want and they'd have a file they pull that a file cabinet nowadays everything's in the computer so if you want to go looking for it you have to make a file and Oprah is only for existing files not for ones you have to make the thing is once you put in a petition of appeal then you get the comps back from the town so I ask first nowadays did they change so can I just interrupt you for a second sure so I do not think you get comps back from the town if you put an appeal you have to sub go to County you have to submit comps correct I got to you got to submit comps and prove your case correct okay you submit it to the but you don't get it from the T tax Town Administrator Town assessor and can tax for correct but when I said to Chris I said okay so when you put in a petion of appeal you guys send me the comps he goes no the town taxes sets are go I said pardon me he says he would have the ones in whatever computer data of once you put it in to prove the town's case because the town has to have combles now I make a comp it can only be from October 31st the previous year to October excuse me October 1st to October 31st of the coming year the town and anybody doing reassessment the town has three years to go back which in this case wouldn't matter because 3 years ago prices were lower than they are now uh so I spoke to Chris I'm doing a tax appeal for some helping somebody out I'm going to see which way it flies CU things have changed and you mentioned Mr yard from Belmar I did not for Lake KOMO I don't know who Mr yard is I thought you said Henry yard nope what names did you oh you mean in that what I was saying before I'm sorry I didn't I didn't know you were referring to yes changing the name of yep I I'm sorry I thought you were talking about right now um just to give you a little more history they Supply the ammunition for the Revolutionary George Washington and because of that and they helped win in war they wanted to name Trenton yville and make it the capital they said no no we don't want that we don't want any recognition so they named the town of yville after them and their ancestors live in secret Now find that interesting I find that very interesting it's definitely something I look into and I apologize I didn't know what you were referencing when you said his name I thought you were talking about something
