officers who was on vacation and as I read this you'll understand why distinguished service award for life saving is proudly presented to Corporal Jonathan Sheek in recognition of your decisive actions on the 16th of July 20124 while off duty in the State of Florida after witnessing a severe motor vehicle accident Corporal Shea quickly jumped into action after a vehicle behind his was struck by a drunk driver both vehicles caught fire and the drivers and the passenger with the drivers and the passengers still inside Corporal Sheek immediately began extracting the drivers from the burning Vehicles R risking his own life selfishly to save the lives of of others at this as the scene continued to unfold Corporal Sheek assisted responding EMS and fire Personnel in controlling the seing and ensuring the safety of other citizens as the vehicles burned without these Brave actions by Corporal Shea more lives would have been lost to this tragedy therefore be it resolved that your actions shall not go unrecognized and you are to be commended for a job well done distinguished service award issued on this fifth day of August 2024 [Applause] conratulations young man proud of you okay thank the uh Council for continuing in recognizing our young folks as they become adults in the community I had an opportunity this week to spend an entire day with Matt Caesar which you know ever since that particular time it's like the beat goes on but when I found out about Noah tonight I felt obligated to come here because he took a real big chance in life and taking a chances when you have friends in an area and then you want to upgrade if possible to an institution that's very revered in the league I coached for 34 years and I could tell you how many games and contests we played but I still remember beating St Augustine in G when their coach had 200 wins and three losses secondly when we beat him in basketball it was just incredible well I went to see him play basketball several times in the past two years and it was a tough environment for him this man is a gladiator he fought through negativism I was upset few of the games in the bleachers at what was taking place and at the end of the day there's an infinitesimal amount of people that get scholarships to go to college the cost today are mindboggling and the fact that he I know he received over 20 offers and so many schools would wue folks that want to know including Yale University so I want you to know this gentleman is a champion thank you and all the best [Applause] sir I want to make sure I want to make sure I wasn't recing that basketball game was I all right okay nice turn out for [Music] should we roll call it we move the resolution to roll call make a motion to when we amend the we amend the uh s even my name's Kevin my name's Kevin Gore I live on Village Road and I know earlier in this year you took a little bit of grief about washing out and there's a little bit of you know with it got closed and people were worried about the rentals and all that and I just wanted to thank the council for taking care of that right now I don't know who's responsible if you sub it out or for Public Works did it themselves but I just wanted to tell them thank that I want to thank them they did a good job and let not over engineer it it's it's it's really nice just the way it is I don't know if they brought in a lot of sand or whatever but it good me and my 15-year-old dog can get down the air there you go hoping to hear that thank you for coming out thank you for the kind remarks anybody else from the public want to address Council anything no okay we'll close the public portion and we'll go around the council we'll go Deputy Mayor Perry first I'd like to uh say what a great job has has been done on Wildwood Avenue and Bay Drive um I live back in that area as you know and uh especially this time of year gets really busy with pedestrians bicycles along with the vehicles and uh what was done up there not just the the drainage but the paving uh the crosswalks where the uh Beach passs are and and also the signs and I I've seen some remarks about uh why do we have all these crosswalk markings and it's ridiculous so on and so forth it is not it is uh safety it's a safety issue back there I know the speed limit we reduced it to 25 but you know and the police have been doing a great job policing it you know with radar using the radar and stopping quite a few cars back there there are cars that that still do 30 40 miles hour on that road at times uh you know police can't be there all the time but they are doing a good job but the paving job the markings it it was an excellent job so uh to be commended to our engineer who uh designed it and the contractor that that uh did the did the work did a great job the only problem that I saw with the whole project is the lack of notification of the residents in the area when the roads were closed off for for doing the work uh there was a little communication lack but other than that uh the project just turned out great so it was uh project well done do you commend it thank you Deputy Mayor councilman Roy nothing to council MCS nothing to add council MC Conrad um I want to give a shout out to the rec department and everybody involved with the concert series and the drba getting it back was a wonderful thing the concerts are going very good don't know what's happening this Wednesday but that's not our fault but it's good to get out um also just to get it out there DP regulations that we talked about a couple weeks ago are possibly going to be published shortly I just want to keep that fresh in everyone's mind because that does affect a lot of people in this town especially in the Villas well anybody along the bay and anywhere near water we have to stay alert and we have to be ready to respond other than that right thank you I just have a couple things the reminder National Night Out is tomorrow night at the lower K Regional High School from 5: to 8:00 pm I already talked about the police camp did a great job last week with that uh the you soccer boys and girls signups have already
