Uh, I just want to say that I will be rerunning for this position next year. So, just put that out there. I heard my mom just uh screamed for me. So, um, college visits. It's going to be the end of the year soon. The May issue of the Lynhurst uh, high school newspaper, The Lighthouse, was published earlier this month. I'm sorry, I did not bring copies. It's going to be earlier this year. These micro um and classes are winding down in LHS. Final report cards have been set out and teachers are giving their last lessons and projects of the year. The LHS baseball team has advanced to their quarterfinal championship game against West Morris. The LHS spring track team has had a lot of good things so far. We've had several members advance to the state group sectionals. Pretty crazy. The LHS girls varsity spring track team also won their league championship. So, a lot of good things there. And I just find that flag football program really good. It's just another way to get people out there. Um and then some sports administration recognitions. Our athletic director, Mr. Ratigan, was recognized as the NJIC athletic director of the year. Uh the fieldhouse and the locker rooms in the high school are getting redone and I'm seeing a lot. The fieldhouse is pretty much entirely gutted of all the um weights and everything. A percussion and mariachi ensemble along with several duets was included in this program this year. So, they'll be attending uh those events uh later this month and I think going into next month maybe. Select LHS students still performed at the indoor ceremony at the Lynhurst Senior Center. The LHS Corral also performed several songs at the ceremony. This shows that the district has worked very hard these past few years. I know that's something that was very important to me, but I'm sure all board members were very happy when we heard that. This year, our ranking was 51 00:17:09.679 --> 00:17:26.240 better than we've had really historically ever in this district and to the point of without obviously pointing to anyone specifically, we've outshined a lot of our surrounding towns and even towns in upper Bergen County. And I think it's it's it's telling that this news came out um last week on the heels of this meeting where we're recognizing so many phenomenal students seal of bi literacy 53 00:17:41.120 --> 00:17:58.480 FBLA um our students are doing so well um not just in the state but nationally last meeting we recognized our our paper and um other awards that we've received. Um we're going to put a newsletter out at the end uh well, I should say in the middle of June, right before school lets out. I plan to have this showcased on the front page of the newsletter. So thank you. Um with that I'd also just like to give some district updates. Um Nick mentioned a couple but um um you 58 00:19:03.200 --> 00:19:19.120 know the board is very happy to report that we're doing several capital projects throughout the district um that have already started and we're going to progress through the summer. Um there's major things uh you know obviously the high school um you right is the cornerstone of our district and that's 59 00:19:19.120 --> 00:19:34.960 what our students are are working towards and um we really need to upgrade some areas of the high school to be up to to par and up to standard. So currently right now we're renovating the boys and the girls locker room. They've been completely gutted um uh down to the 60 00:19:34.960 --> 00:19:52.240 studs in some areas and the bathroom areas so that we can upgrade all of those facilities. Um, in addition to, um, like Mr. Brennan said, the fieldhouse is getting a complete renovation, all new weight equipment, um, fresh paint. We're doing a, um, an 61 00:19:52.240 --> 00:20:08.400 epoxy floor as you enter that facility, and that's going to be gorgeous as well. Um, the high school's also getting a major renovation that you're not going to see. The high school is getting all brand new boilers. That project was over $2 million. The boilers have not been 62 00:20:08.400 --> 00:20:24.720 touched in the high school in I don't know how many years. They needed to be removed. Um it's an extensive project. We needed to start immediately after the winter season. They've already been removed and we're in the process now of reworking all the pipes, redoing the sprinkler system so that we have heat up 63 00:20:24.720 --> 00:20:40.320 and running for the state deadline of October 15th. Again, huge project, big dollars tied to it, but many of you are not ever going to even know that that project took place. But um after doing the high school boilers um this summer, 64 00:20:40.320 --> 00:20:57.120 completing the project, every single boiler in this district over the past five years has been replaced. So this board has really made a commitment to the infrastructure of this district, aside from a lot of roofing projects as well. So um I'm really happy to report that from an infrastructure point of 65 00:20:57.120 --> 00:21:13.120 view, the district is also in a phenomenal place. Um aside from the high school, we're doing projects at Roosevelt School. There's a chainlick fence in front of Roosevelt School and there's a um some sloping property there. We're removing that fence. We're putting up a small retaining wall to 66 00:21:13.120 --> 00:21:28.159 sort of beautify the front of that building. Jefferson Schools getting their gym redone. It's getting reanded, repainted, all new wall pads. Um that facility is really used by the community all the time for wreck games and such. 67 00:21:28.159 --> 00:21:45.200 So, we felt um that space could use some updating as well as at some point through this year into next year, Jefferson School is the only school left in the district that hasn't receive new windows. So, um so far we've done kindergarten and second grade. This summer we're going to do first grade. So, all of our K2 facilities are going to have brand new furniture, every single classroom, brand new desks, brand 69 00:22:01.440 --> 00:22:17.600 new chairs, um brand new teacher desk, and so on and so forth, and some uh guided reading tables in those spaces. After we do first grade this summer, like I said, all K2 buildings will then have received all brand new furniture. Um I'm sure we have students that sitting in desks that their parents sat in and so um you know that's obviously not acceptable. We'll do four, five, and and uh third grade at Roosevelt has new furniture because they had an addition. We'll do Jefferson's third grade. And at the same time, we're picking and choosing classrooms in the high school to do as well so that we have a a two-pronged approach. Um, and it's a great time to recognize our students. I just want to quickly tell everyone what FBLA is. Uh, FBA stands for Future Business Leaders of America. So really quickly, they pick a topic that they want to compete in. A lot of them don't even know what that competition looks like because obviously we have a 96 00:49:49.920 --> 00:50:05.599 lot of seniors, but we also try to recruit freshman and sophomores to participate as well. So they create this presentation. Most of the time is it it's a PowerPoint. They have to memorize the PowerPoint. They have to create something that's going to really set them apart from the rest of the schools. 97 00:50:05.599 --> 00:50:24.160 And to Mr. D Corso's um to add to what he said today about our school's rating, we go against big schools like 5,000 kids and then we go against schools that are comparable to us in size. Um they work really hard. Our It's very easy to keep the kids entertained and there's a lot of historical things for them to do. So, I'm very excited. And I'm more excited because now they get to compete. She not only was an FBLA mom, but she also is always willing to volunteer, always willing to help.
