Dr zery enrollment thank you Dr melli for Al W Roberts our current enrollment is 673 students for saltbrook school 588 students for New Providence Middle School 416 students for New Providence High School 641 students for a total of 2318 students we currently have 35 out of District placements for a grand total of 2353 students currently we have 53 kindergarten students registered for Alan W Roberts and 67 registered for saltbrook school thank you um couple uh general information items uh Dr zerel you want to start with uh 360 sure so as the board knows we did approve navigate 360 and tonight which is a visitor management system and tonight we do have on for second reading our school visitors policy which we just updated the language on um we were fortunate that this past Monday we had about 20 of our um School Personnel our front office staff our it our administrators who were able to uh do a training with navigate 360 and its implementation uh tomorrow we do plan on sending out a letter to all parents to explain uh what navigate 360 is and what they can expect when coming and visiting our buildings beginning on Monday in each one of our security vestibules there will be a kiosk which is an iPad it's a self-service kiosk where you would walk up and you would scan your governmen issued ID your passport your green card um and any other country's IDs in the event that someone doesn't have an ID we would be able to manually put them into uh the system uh it very quickly we'll scan their um identification and date of birth against the sex offenders list New Jersey as well as the national and if there is a match we will immediately be notified um if there is not and they are cleared they then would have a badge printed for them they would put that on and they would enter into our buildings upon exiting we are asking that they then um go back to the self-service key ask they sign themselves out and we'll have a place for them to discard their badges so it's another layer of security um and I think that it's going to be a really great way to keep our students and our staff secure as well as be efficient in terms of tracking all the visitors that are in our buildings any questions okay great thank you Dr zerle um and then lastly just want to remind everyone that we will on the agenda this evening will'll be revised Ing and approving the calendar for the remainder of the year the board will be giving back two of the emergency days that will be uh February 23d and February 24th at Thursday and Friday so we'll have an extended Memorial Day weekend I'm sorry May sorry about that May 23rd and May 24th extended Memorial Day weekend um we did look at some other dates but um the calendar as you guys know most of the days are pretty packed but in consideration ation of alternative ways of doing it in the future that's certainly something that we can take a look at but if we want to do that we would definitely need to have that conversation you know before the summer so in advance of the development of the annual calendar events we can leave some of those days open so we don't have to do some rescheduling but for right now the 23rd and 24th make the most sense what did I say April February it's time to retire um so we will do that okay on to the next thing okay so one of my favorite events of the year and I also thank probably most of the staff on the board and the administration as our teacher of the year program and so with that said in reflecting on today and thinking about our four recipients and having spent a lot of time with each of you I think about your impact I think about the impact that you've made to our students some of you in a relatively short period of time being in District and some of you who have been here for many many years doing the same thing and having impact to our students lives so when I was looking at that it was interesting and the way it kind of broke out yeah Ben's been here for four years Leah you've been here for 10 Tina's been here for 20 and Lyn you've been here for 30 so it was this very interesting progression how all of you came to the table today as teachers of the year but have been here for different periods of time and have made such a great impact on our kids and in reflecting on the four of you and watching and observing the work that you've done I I was very reminiscent of my my parents I was very fortunate to have a mom and dad who taught and um we were fortunate to live near the district that they worked in and whenever we would go out wherever kids would run up to them and give them big hugs and say thank you and I got to witness that impact every day and when I think of the four of you and I see how your students react to you and the work that you do I think of them and so I'm very proud of each of you and really super happy to congratulate you tonight and to recognize you and very much looking forward to our County meeting in cane in a couple weeks and celebrating you among all the County teachers of the year so congratulations and uh we'll break it down into your individual uh recognition so Mr Henry want to begin with our high school teacher there thank you Dr melli Ben if you can come on out it is my distinct pleasure to speak this evening about Ben Ruben's Orchestra teacher at the high school and the middle school and to honor Ben as this year's New Providence High School teacher of the year Ben's dedication passion for music and commitment to his students in school has left a lasting impression on all who have encountered him as part of our school Community it is with immense pride and gratitude that we celebrate him this evening in reflecting on Mr rubin's contributions it is clear that he not only deeply cares about those around him but he loves his school and being a part of the New Providence School Community through his efforts he has transformed our Orchestra program allowing our students to Showcase their creativity while inspiring them to Excellence in their work and performance this is Mr Ruben's fourth year in the high school middle school orchestra teacher and fifth year in the district so receiving this honor showcases the positive impact he has had in such a short period of time Mr rubin's created a new initiative seal music performance in the classroom that has transformed the way our students engage with music by providing opportunities for our Orchestra students to perform for their peers and teachers in the classroom setting he has fostered a supportive environment that nurtures everyone's mental and emotional well-being this program stands as a testament to Mr rubin's Innovative mind and his deep understanding of the power of music has to uplift Mr rubin's impact extends far beyond the confines of our school walls though his leadership was instrumental in coordin coordinating the inaugural Ken Kane University strings day an exciting event that brought together middle school students from across the state to Showcase their talents and Forge lasting connections through his efforts our students have had the opportunity to perform in a myriad of venues from the New Providence Senior Citizen Center to the New Providence Rotary Club lunch in sharing our students incredible talents with others in addition to his role music educator Mr Rubin has selflessly devoted his time and energy to various extracurricular activities serving as the adviser for the swing and strings and music Club also last year he filled in during the first half of the school year leading our middle school jazz band and even lending his talents to our spring musicals as part of the pit Orchestra furthermore he played a pivotal role in supporting our students participation in music enrichment activities outside of school from cjmea to region Orchestra to All State ensembles his willingness to go above and beyond for his students outside the school allows for them to continue to hone their musical skills and participate in critical enrichment opportunities what is incredibly imp impressive about Mr rubin's nomination for teacher of the year is that he received nominations from all three stakeholder groups his students his colleagues parents and community members this again speaks to the Outreach and impact he has had for everyone one of Ben's colleagues Shar the following Ben is absolutely delightful and inspiring presence in our school he has created a program where students feel absolutely invested in it is absolutely enchanting and gratifying even as a non-music teacher to see his students proudly stand in front of their peers and perform I know it isn't easy but they make it look like it is perhaps more impressively he has embraced the rest of the non-musical population of the school both students and colleagues drawn into the orchestra by inviting each of them to join him and his musicians in their classroom and by traveling into our classrooms bringing music and joy with him Ben's dedication to sharing the positive benefits of music with his community has made nphs a better place to be furthermore one of Ben student stated Orchestra has always been the highlight of my day because of him he always has been a very positive teacher it's easy to talk to him for help about any of our pieces and he's always ready to sacrifice his time to assist us as students Mr Rubin is a great teacher and I think he should be nominated then your genuine care and concern for each and every student who crosses your path is seen on a daily basis in our school whether in the classroom or on the stage you serve as an inspiration to our students and someone who they know will always support them on their academic and personal Journeys as we celebrate your accomplishments let us also take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for your continued dedication and enthusiasm for teaching and learning and for helping others reach their Musical and educational goals then thank you for all that you do and congratulations on this well-deserved [Applause] [Applause] honor well thank you no um it's very gratifying but it's it's also important positive encouragement um to just keep trying to be fair to the students and what you believe in and encouraging them but I always say this to other people especially not knowing that much of New Providence from uh when I grew up but I always say I'm happy and glad to work in a place where people actually want you to do well and here is a very good instance of that are so many people so supportive and happy for you to succeed and again that gives me a lot further inspiration to keep going with that which is great so I thank all of you here for the support and the kindness and
