all right meeting of the newb Library Board of Trustees all right we'll take attendance Terry Alexander Burke Melissa Mashburn Richard ceri and director see we literally perfect perfect all you've got to do is just say your name and say get present and that's it okay we were literally just doing that okay do we have minutes from oh yeah I don't I didn't [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] right a chance to take a look at [Music] it move acceptance second second okay here we go minutes of chance yeah absolutely um so we had some test here doing our fire testing there been a few issues that they' found but they're working through it all most of which have already been fixed to fix right um we were having an issue with this projector system uh I came out um we're hoping it's fixed so there's a cord there's two ports that b to um we think it's a port issue so we would another Port so far not no issues um if there's an issue we'll have to look at replacing it is something next Years anyway butly not now but so he he's fixed it for now we'll see um so Cory is back she's was our temp and now she is our our permanent parttime Services associate we see her floting around we're very excited to have her back um uh Catherine and I went and interviewed uh we had four interviews we found a candidate that we really really liked um he start the first Tuesday of June um and he'll be our new department libr so really excited to welcome um the union and on May 3rd for negotiations we'll be meting next forti you oh he'll be here on June 4th okay um yoga's back it's so so popular still um we took a pause for the election so we added one at the end of the um Series so going to move into the first week of June now um go to go geown was here and it was huge uh we had 67 people come through last four goats 67 people I love goats I got goat it was great um so that was a huge hit yeah the kids were so very very cute um a town meeting was held the war that involved our P um and then the friends plant tail C on Saturday I was here it was huge I just heard um that we made a of money more than last year so yes yeah it was pretty clean out yeah it was something and it wasn't even just the plant sale the raffle went really well um people were donating for donuts um and then people were coming into the library I at the desk and were showing their friend to the library people were coming in being like I haven't been here since my kids were younger so it went very very very well yeah I just saw Pam was was here and she said that it was better than last year last year was the best year they've ever had exactly and that was with L play said last year so w well cuz the prices didn't stay the same pric stay the same it was the the raffle I was say the raffle did better than this year better than did last year which is why even though pick up my gift please des and to find that when she comes okay uh yeah CU that's kind of it we're checking along excellent and the um the new person that's coming obviously he has experiened well yeah so he's currently working in he Liv in um North Carolina and is moving up here um he and his together and uh he's been working in library there okay he's got Library exp he also had some history experience so we're hoping that where is I do not go off the top of my head he very sweet uh we spent about an hour chatting with him [Music] [Music] no and I have a few like bonus spies if they get us through for whatever down look good most part um pretty on hard with the end of the spring season I was looking at just quickly looking at it can be I mean 884 from it was 424 last year yeah we've done more marketing for it wow yeah and also yeah I I think canop is kind of growing and at least definitely for like Oscars and they started pulling those things onto their especially for the documentaries and it's really kind right yeah and then all of the the social media kinds of things were all going in that direction too yeah definitely exclusively okay good very good [Music] okay let's see new business I guess first thing we should probably just take water of prophe we do that once year and we have two positions the chair and the Cy so anybody that would like [Music] to go far I please continue in the chair I nominate I don't yet will pleased I nominate n Mr Raven transcriber help Fair yeah that's and you saw how he's been doing oh yeah I will try to be tourist yeah and that's my C and if if you choose not to be hey you know expand a little you know creative Place absolutely very much the secretary's perview and and I think is the secretary also you take all the documents that whatever has been handed out tonight and that then becomes something you file with the that that gets filed I think I think it has to be filed at least accessible online of oh I that's me so yeah as you as soon as you finished writing the yes I will um upload the ones that were approved um and then each time around I'll do that so okay that like timely again I think that one's L of timebody it comes down on you well the agenda has to be done in time I think if you look at some of the other Town organizations you'll find that minutes are not Curr yeah yeah we're we're doing on our most minute Hawk has passed away so all right right right right yeah but I'm sure others full surface yeah yeah okay so that uh elections of is done until next year done okay all right the commemorating the local community members the um I got a request from Tracy had reached out the U the Garden Club U wants to donate a a liac bush uh in memory of uh cheron C and um not be here excuse me and um I guess we have to vote on it so if we're in favor cherl Was Not only was she a member of the Garden Club she was also a trustee she was on the building committee also for the library um she was a very active member in in the geneology so she's had roots with [Music] us you know I I don't know she must have been mid 60s mid 60s I would think she was trying to week [Music] committ yeah and S if to do it coordinate with James and put it between the two windows and not in front of a Garden Club coordinating doing they're doing it Club is doing it Le field there leing field is actually under the uh M oh so this is clear this should be clear yes where's the debox um the debox was in the uh Clos by the grass I haven't seen it in years yeah that's why they need to coordinate with James yes yes can put they're handling it so let see what they do yeah they had just said they propac in front of the library and walk [Music] there Andes location it would be planted permission follow I thought the debox was accessible out here Alex just in the grass just before as you walk down the block but I think the leeching field itself is actually in the S we need to verify I was on that committee till I didn't okay um okay please thank you all right and then uh approval of the summer hours what do we so just it's the yep just taking away Saturdays Tuesday through Friday will be the same um that still gives our staff 35 hours we're doing that through laor [Music] the senors will be as they have been what 10 to two taking away that's no worri so it would start this weekend would be the first Saturday off going for oh right uhhuh that's right this is the last the last Saturday was oh okay that's what I have from the not that okay okay so hours is stap but there's no term there's no concern about adequate number of hours when they change hour when they change the hours uh um they now have 35 hours hours so what they would do they would adust their time during in order to cover the Saturday hour be be5 hours okay all right so is there a motion to change the hours for the hours second second second all in favor okay I Chang then we have contract it's the same contract that we've used everybody um and it slipped through the cracks again I wasn't paying attention I guess and we get it done at the time when he was High um so the things that would change in there obviously would be the starting date what is what was your actual St March 5th March 5th okay that now [Music] I [Music] and's oh right and the um yeah the restriction on the cola uh when Aaron got hired U I guess assuming it was what was a place at that time her stop date was May 1st and she was not entitled to the C went into effect on July 1st that just got clarified through the town now that that she will be entitled to Thea um so I I will take that out um and then in is what's the date in there March 5th March 5th so and then the way the contract is written it's in a it's a contract for a year it automatically renews um so for another year and if for any reason there was to be any termination of the contract is I think a 60-day notice that we we have to provide that and again as I said it's it's the same contract that we've been using for the past two directors at least if um and just a little uh the performance RS do you just do one a year if you do 9 one so good at um I think I'm still ready we getting ready to do erands okay [Music] okay let's keep it deal that's maybe she'll come back and I'll do you're like I did the she's just got off on a job New York Library really active in the library great yeah she wanted to do something and Wasa so she's going to do that time TR okay so under compensation yeah uh sentence beginning additionally strike April 2024 insert March 5 2024 yeah no other change within that except remove the U reference to the code totally yes so straight straight unless we want to put language it says yeah receive shall qualify yeah makes it easier the first uh the library director will qualify for ju 2024 yeah just and shall receive any future [Music] okay okay that'll keep it Lev yeah okay and then in my fuzzy mind um okay eight change in start 35 24 uh to the end of FY 25 is the auto renal has up the date that she starts or [Music] yes FC no the uh it's for uh for a year so we would be and I guess we'll be dating it back 16 it's a 16 month agreement to begin with right and then strikes of renew beginning of [Music] so no other changes necessary within that paragraph 8 except for the start date y okay fin me slowly I'm getting there that's where that's cool now do we V on this provisionally yes with the uh Corrections that have just been made okay yeah okay and then that will be done we'll sign it and move on from there make sure it's distributed to all the appropriate sure C so Mo the the board accept Okay amended second favor okay good EXC [Music] right any other business um we miss on oh yes yes what you [Music] got I just have a um two thoughts one is um of the sub Brown Everett R oh right we we should turn attention to that I think The Point View secondly we were offered um 3 years ago the um New spin field from the treasurer at the Historical Commission on H Meister who purchased it when the historic Damon estate was uh auctioned in June of 2018 um I'm not we need to make a providance whether we want the thing so far we I give an opinion on it please um it's one of those things that local history rooms get kind of confused for museums or archives and we just don't have the space or really ability to Showcase something like that I wor honesty about the space that we have to to show that off um so that kind of concerns me do we want to consider discussing with the Museum of old [Music] yeah you have doses that are going to be there to interpret it and have it with is actually on a push to get more new doses iin I know I'm the senior do all right I should have my senior and the oldest not most capable by false I think that would be a great place to to start that kind of I just think that something like that would do better one it would get preserved better I have no idea how we would this spining wheel here we barve our BR the children's room yeah yeah that would [Music] well the rug we talked about hanging and that they not displaying at the time we re to the way that the quilt is is in yeah yeah yeah exactly yeah yeah we had talked about an area around front near with the table itself here I think that we Alex when we first got it yes yeah and it's kind of it's rolled up in the local history we' already seen and we said we'll put it someplace where it's going to be secure it's actually stayed here for a year and a half so it's so a way it no that's that's might have an that and definely friend come in and look at it that when was first gifted from Museum Textile Services over and end over um yeah I don't remember not finding the name yet but it of course hit me in the middle of the night but anyway Camille Breeze um came over looked at it and first recommendation was take it off the board take it off the oak piece on which it was hanging while it was in the A's house to avoid stress and strain on Fabric and um restoration of the fabric we weren't sure still aren't sure what the provence we know where it came from right ever's mother made that along with other rugs which are in well D fist right so we did get a this is getting scattered but we to get a photograph of the family farm which was up here at Brick bang in the middle of the inter section was I95 you may have that picture somewhere probably in the uh so we need to resuscitate that and get it ready to move yeah I don't have an issue with the if we can find a safe way for the r to H inport not a problem but this really just don't think we are hang is the most we could do when we have that airplane out there yeah I like love that yeah yeah all righty we can chat with the the let's go in and see see what the reaction is I think the rug is the more important we want yeah okay and I I guess the BR question is the local history stuff was starting to get some momentum to it with Katie um I guess if this follow has an interest in this I so and if not something build on that but so the um round T history round no one showed on our SAT and there was a lot going on um but uh we're going to take a break take a break for the summer and then we are bringing it back because it was popular oh absolutely and again hopefully he does have a lot of a lot of work with history I'm Hing does he have any connection to at all but he's from one of original 13 col interested in history it's a great place to be no no abely only because both of my parents are from North Carolina uh righ and vincon south of of of Raleigh and home of the Gospel sing and new old day which is still tell umor um oh God the no I know what it is the genealogy group that gets together is that always on Saturday yes it was Katie was running there yeah which is why for the most part my wife and I Katie and Dina suiv were usually there other people periodically a good resource yes yes she's on my list to connect okay genealogy and she's been a a passion for but it has been it's been Saturday since K over and the plan is to keep with Saturdays unless we feel that Saturdays are not working SL we can't get enough people to come in and will transition toest but since we were getting a pretty small gr [Music] mostly okay all right I guess is there anything [Music] else oh um I had the NC membership meeting um pretty much all the same um the newest thing is we are going to be our membership is going be L up will be a mandatory 1% increase every year now um with the cap still of 5% 5% we are but they're doing kind ofad just second for themse [Music] that and now budget you mentioned the town meeting the budget got approved there was no problem with that the theof replacement was approved and the hbac yeah did a great job of explaining things I thought be more push did incredible why would exactly you were so very matter of the fact of everything so [Music] absolutely got his estimates and you can't get a bid so you have a budget exactly okay so you get estimates you professionals provide those James wasn't pulling numbers out of the sky but yeah he's um obviously the playround is coming along which is our asking us love fully accessible I believe so yeah I from what I can tell I I truly don't know a lot is that AR going through okay any feedback on our request for proposals on the generator I think the uh the deadline is what the 30th for proposals to be uh received so I'm I'm going to have you heard from James not really I'm going to bug him yeah I'm not going to bug him give him a call get that by briefly but we were talking about like the immediate needs that were happening yeah just to have periodically was you to you know have them come in and just kind of go over where we're at with uh a lot of the the capital stuff and the facilities uh again um he's responsible for the building we got a problem with anything contact him oh I have okay all right no that's that's fine that's good that's what is what here that's what his uh you know became the responsibility before him it was the building inspector who was the facilities manager when he left they shifted as James and he's really stepped in and you know the public we had issue with okay getting all that stuff done our alarm is fixed as good you you get the information from friend already yes yes I did I did change it surprising I I lowered the temperature it doesn't feel like it yet I'm going to do it again but I I now have access to logging into the CU I actually felt like I got to blast up on here when I standing out in my water I will call him tomorrow and have to walk me through it again to make sure I haven't messed it up however no sure yeah he has given me access okay good so she can control the heating and it's all computerized it's a wild system I remember it fing many people so it is wonderful that [Music] you and he will sit down with me and walk me through the and I looking forward to that looking [Music] for have you a little bit Yeah I have a question now that the SW up the baseballs out there would ever came out of that's yeah that's something we have TOS I now have the contact information the guy who runs the fields okay I talked to him about plant s to make sure that that we were having the plant and they didn't run anything that day no they had practice but he had said like the kids get dropped off won't be into that problem so I have the right contact information so we so that's something we need to follow up on find why was being charged to us so is it is it still being charged to us or is it I don't know if they've done anything they haven't they haven't proba but that's something we do want to [Music] clarify yeah and not for nothing in addition to the water the electricity out that the light lights but do they wasn't their dispute V neighbor saying we don't want the light wer I hope that there is a meter I think hope this a separate yeah someone I don't think we have any way to turn on off those ones I'm that we don't have access to which makes me think seate and I haven't noticed any fluctuations on that which I opens up another thought um the town now is a certified Green community M which now means we are eligible for Grants from the state and others for green initiatives um one of the things that probably my mind I like first I'd like to talk to James where he's at the HVAC of this system and is this something if it's still in the design phase that we can piggy back and look for a means of getting some of the green money from the state to funded as opposed to getting the full 175,000 out in the town and then what can we do to do more sustainable stuff um yeah I love that that's you know that's that's real is yeah one of my things is the lighting in the in the main Li often times we don't need the lights it's enough natural light coming in and if I know at the college what we did when we built our Net Zero building all of the classrooms on the sou side of the building set up in such a way when the sun hit a certain beam in the windows it sent enough light into the room the lights went out and the sun dissipated light from back on so there was sense it wasn't em motion sense it was sunlight D so those kinds of things even uh motion senses in here after everybody goes you 10 minutes after everybody's out of here if they provide to shut the lights all the lights go off yeah I think we have a a timer of the lights overnight here but these stay on all day even they're it' be nice if they went on with some people came in look Ates and then went up when they left so those are the kinds of things I'm thinking you know bigger things you could be doing you could be doing geothermal Wells and all that but it's probably too far into the process to to be thinking about that it's just czy sometimes solar panels after they they do the roof yeah it depends on on how many and were actually one of the things that came up today in the membership meeting couple libraries were unable to get them they grp there is that it's and then there's we were talking about doing it Green community also EP scope they they provide grant money for Sol cans um you can do something even out on the parking lot with uh [Music] charging Charing equipment no just putting up uh panels out of the um in the parking lot you just it's part of the parking you just drive underneath this thing this housing and new report that hasn't just mo one uh you know and um there's a restaurant for 114 in D I think that had D yeah so actually we had him at the college over our walkways um such way when the snow slides off it's not [Music] falling which was actually I thought was one of the biggest issues with the solar panels on the roof of the building when when it slid off everybody was on the third floor thought the elephants were walking have that issue in general yeah yeah yeah and then if they put a metal roof on this that's going to slide off it's going to be loud when it slides so just a broader discussion so maybe someday we sit down with MTH and and talk to her about uh green energy and you know what we can do um any feedback on the uh EV plugin Fred Fred was handling that yeah he didn't say anything about that he walked through the okay so in conversation with James this is probably something we want to talk about to I'll see if I can send something next week or something I guess that's it unless anybody else has anything else next meeting day yeah next meeting day yes you'll be on vacation then June no I'm note oh good yeah you didn't have too many snow days year so that's that's great Tuesday still work for everybody good 430 [Music] sure and which June date did we pick yeah what are we trying to do the second or third whatever it's always kind of random whatever everybody schedule allows what's the second second Tuesday 11 or the 18 preference the 18 gives us four weeks gives us a you know a month in between okay let's do that let's go with the 18 18 June 18 [Music] [Music] we're going to jour
