thank you all right um we ready to start good evening everyone and welcome to the city of North Miami commission for women's special meeting this meeting scheduled today Tuesday April 30th 2024 is to replace our uh actually it is the meeting to replace our April 30th meeting and so at this time we call this meeting to order um we will do a roll call Dr Magda dearit presid Dr immanuela fluon present Dr Ian present Rose grandier present Naomi blir present and at this time we will call the meeting into order and begin with the Pledge of Allegiance I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all and for the record this is the meeting to replace our April 16th 20124 meeting uh were are there any amendments to the agenda yes madame chairwoman um good evening everyone um maren um just to let let everybody know that um as the outgoing chairwoman for the city of North Miami uh special U commission for women I would like to for us to um table the actual presentations that we wanted to showcase our work for 2022 to 2024 until we have an audience um for example at our next conference hopefully we can showcase you know some of the slides just so we can have enough time to discuss business tonight if that's okay with everyone thank you Dr 10 uh approval of our minutes motion to approve our minutes from last meeting um did we get the minutes I call do you have a copy of okay we can move on and bring that back to our next meeting yeah schedule for May 21st at this time we're going to move forward into special presentation uh the first uh presentation would be the presentation that our former chair just requested that we move we moove off the agenda the next we will have Proclamation presentation to North Miami commission for women board members presented by dren Al go and chairwoman yes um once again ladies and gentlemen uh it is with uh dis distinct honor uh to recognize the um the Commissioners who are who have been working with me um since uh our since the day we started back in April 2022 and as we all uh finish this term um uh our uh honorable uh vice mayor did present a proclamation to uh to us as a as a group but I felt that it would be worthy and and to show more to show appreciation to each one of you for your hard work and also requested uh that each of you have your own Proclamation with your name on it with your name all of our name on it and so that we can be a little bit more inclusive and so at this time I'd like Dr Delica Dr fola Delica to um present the uh honor and we'll we could take a group photo afterwards for the sake of time good evening Madame chair all board members of the commission of women on behalf of vice mayor mayor Marie estimate Irvin I would like to read this Proclamation I'm just going to read the beginning and the end just for time sake unfortunately she could not be here today but of course she thank you all for the efforts that you are making in this commission and making a difference in our great city of North Miami whereas every March women's History Month provides an opportunity to honor the generations of Trail braising women and girls who have built our nation shaped our progress and strengthened our character as a people and I'll read the second one as well so I can make sense and whereas throughout our history despite hardship inclusion and discrimination women have strived and sacrificed for equ equity and equality in communities across the country generations of Native American women were stewards of the land and continue to lead the fight for climate Justice black women fought to end slavery advocate for civil rights and passed the Voting Rights Act suffit helped pass the 19th Amendment to the Constitution so that no American could be denied a vote on the basis of sex and where and now therefore I Vice well in her absence vice mayor Marie ese Irving on behalf of the city council and the residents of North Miami do hereby recognize and commend the north Miami commission for women for its dedication and commitment to fighting for the causes of women and girls in our community and witness whereof I have on to set my hand and cause a seal of the city of North Miami to be fixed this day well was back in March um 19th day of March 2024 so I do have a proclamation copy for you all as well as certificate of appreciation during the term that you have served this commission may I approach or will you come down yes please you can come up okay thank you and uh I'll give them all to them thank you we look at the name oh that's for you okay sorry this is hers please make sure you check your name if it's for you you checked it no pleasure and honor to have her as our chairwoman Madame chairwoman you are officially have the gavel what thank you thank you so very much um it has been an honor and a pleasure to serve as the vice chair for the commission for women and I look forward to uh the path ahead as your new chairwoman at this time we before we move forward um I know I'm stepping into a different line but just before we move forward with the first presentation that we're going to have for tonight I would like to move to nomination and selection of the commission for women Vice chair we know that um in March I was selected as chair but we currently do not have a vice chair so I would like to move forward um with that order of business are there any nominations on the table um I didn't get a chance to ask anyone who would like to run for vice chair but I think um um I'm going to ask on the floor if um Rose or Dr um Dem Merit would consider um before I make the nomination cuz I know um Dr Emmanuela is super is thank you so very much um Dr deared I would actually like to nominate Dr magad demerit for vice chair for the commission for women so we have one nomination on the table we have Dr um Ian who has asked if the women uh would like to nominate themselves uh Madame uh chairwoman if I may I would like to um ask once again Dr de would you consider um the nomination for vice chair yes okay in this case I second the nomination thank you at this time we have a nomination on the floor for Dr Magda demerit for vice chair of the commission for women uh Dr Magda has consistently demonstrated her dedication hard work and unwavering commitment to the mission and values of our commission her tireless efforts have contributed significantly to our initiatives and her consistency in delivering results is commendable at this time we are going to have the votes uh we're going to start with W grumier how do you vote Yes Dr Ian how do you vote I vote Yes my vote is yes Dr Emmanuel Emmanuela FL how do you vote before I give my vote I don't know how you guys will consider that we are all Haitian and then we have Nori like the only um person that's you know Among Us for the past two years and that the first um the first round we had two Haitian that was chair and vice chair so I do will Dr the Merit is very good but let's have a you know fair to make her feel like um among us too because she's the only one that's not Haitian Among Us and I think she can do a good job too so I don't know if you will consider nominate norisa to so for her to be part and then be you know feel com able because she always said oh you guys are together you guys are haian you guys are together so that's my that's my point thank you Dr flma do do we have a nomination for narissa gitman from you I would love to do that yes okay so we do have a current vote on the floor and Dr fluore is nominating narissa gitman for Dr Dr Magda demerit how do you vote I abstain okay the vote passes three okay you're could not be here this evening because she's not feeling so good and so we pray for her to get better um we value her and she knows that and I think if she was here she would not accept the nomination because we um because she always loved to see you know she always say I like I'm a behind the scene person uh we would love for her to be here uh unfortunately we do have to move uh we have to do have to move the agenda and so uh welcome Dr Magda and we applaud you and it's been a pleasure thank you well deserved thank you so very much um at this time we are going to move forward with a special presentation to the north Miami commission for wom board members presented by Sandy dorsonville director of community engagement for Prosperity Social and Community Development Group please miss dorsonville please come forward hi Sandy hello ladies I didn't realize the meeting was so formal um but yes I'm here on behalf of Prosperity Social community and Development Group um we want to celebrate all of you um thank you so much for all the work that you do uh basically uh nades uh excuse me nesville Saint our executive director asked me to come today so that we can just talk about some of the up and cominging projects that we have going on at Prosperity uh and we'd like to see your your board get involved D with some of those projects first and foremost we have our rip program which is a program that we work with uh students or I should say children who or young adults who have been involved in the Juvenile Justice System we also have a program Sarah where we do uh prevention work with um the young young folks and then most most recently we have our project where we're trying to find work placement and job placement for our um students who have either been in the juvenile justice system or have had some issues in the school system so we're asking for you to be advocates for us and to find businesses and and organizations that are willing to work with the organization to help place these um young young folks and then last but not least Mother's Day is coming and as usual uh Prosperity celebrates the parents of our 435 um students that are in our programs at um several schools in the city of North Miami um mostly Arch Creek Elementary School so we also asking all of you to participate and attend that Mother's Day celebration that will happen on May 11 at that event we celebrate our mothers the children make presentations to our mothers and uh we also recognize our mother of the year so if you could participate and and be part of that um Entourage I should say our delegation on May 11th I believe um this year it's going to be held at the Joe celestin Center which is also in your great city of North Miami we would very much appreciate that and then last but not least um our executive director will always like me to say this any support that your um board can provide to Prosperity we'd greatly appreciate it we really would like to see the women in our community participate more in the work that we're doing in the community to help us especially expand to additional elementary schools and to have additional support here at the local level in the city of North Miami and as well as Statewide so thank you for having me I really appreciate it thank you for the invitation Madam chair thank you so very much um apologize do you have any questions any questions uh actually I I don't have a question but I do have a comment um first I want to congratulate um Miss V uh and prosperity social for their uh outstanding work that they're doing and with the youth and uh and of course the parents uh personally I already have an engagement on on May the 11th with the Florida nurses South Region which I will be attending their Symposium so unfortunately I will not be in attendance but I do want to say um for any future requests um speaking engagement mentorship you know whatever we can do to help the young folks we're here to support thank you thank you thank you thank you Madame thank you so very much may I yes yes you said May 11th yes ma'am at joisten yes do you have the time yet uh I do I believe it is from 11: a excuse me from 10:00 a.m. till 2: p.m. okay do you have where people have to register or is this just a show up I will no I will forward all of the information to the women sitting on the board and from the office tomorrow so you can have the details but it is a Joe celestin from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on May 11th uh and there there is a a formal RSVP because the the the event is specifically for the mothers of our students so this board would be our invited guest so I will send you a formal invitation perfect thank you so very much congratulations again for everything you do thank you thank you so much moving on with our agenda at this time we are going to discuss uh quarter 2 and all update uh for the month of April uh we had no schedule events for April uh for May the month of May we have not uh discussed having any specific event um because it is patian Heritage Month and we wanted to partner with the city and all of the other events that uh are happening I would like to present to the board A Mother's Day Giveaway um we have a large percentage of our uh women that live in the city that are single mothers and I do believe that we can utilize the month of May as an opportunity to bless them and bless them in a significant way in providing transportation and so um at this time we're going to call back um Sandy dors sanville with a proposal for a giveaway for a single parent in the city of North Miami specifically a vehicle Miss Miss dorsonville I apologize I was a little nervous and that was the main purpose for my presentation so yes um during the month of May I me during our celebration for Mother's Day we will be honoring and celebrating our mothers by giving them an opportunity to win a vehicle for Mother's Day and the idea is we we would be looking for nom nominations for this this parent we we are looking at some of the criteria for that parent of course we're looking at parents um a mother with hardships probably a single mother a mother with several um children that she's taking care of with without a vehicle and this would be an opportunity to give a very big blessing as we know in South Florida without a car you are struggling a day like today when it's raining off and on every 10 minutes it makes it very difficult for a parent it also makes it hard for the parent to participate in school activities for their child to let their child participate themselves in school activities CU they have to rely on public school transportation to get their child back and forth so this would be a life-changing opportunity for our mothers so yes we are asking for support from the board to please support this initiative where we would be giving one of our most needy parents um mothers specifically an opportunity to win um a vehicle we are still working out the details of you know here make Insurance all of the details of this vehicle but we did want to present the project to the board so you can have it as part of your discussion and see how you could contribute to the initiative thank you Madame dorsonville at this time I would like to open it up for discussion your thoughts your ideas yes I have a question so is the event is on May 11th right and this is where we're going to be doing the r the giveaway it it's up to the board if if we would do it that day that would be the most um convenient day to do it but it also depends on your your time constraints and the details of of the car but um it does not have to be that day but it would make the most sense because that's the day you would have in do we have any details around what what we've identified so far like is there a car already identified like how how H how far are we starting from the finish line here there is there is a car that's already identified we're just reframing from giving those details until it's absolutely confirmed so yes a car has been identified um we will get those exact details um in the very near future so contributions from us could look like something like insurance for 6 months or something like that or okay a gas card or something for yes okay yes we we didn't know what the parameters would be for the ask like what we're allowed to ask for so it would definitely be something the board could talk about and how they'd like to contribute but yes that would be a magnificent contribution insurance for 6 months or a year gas for 6 months or a year um any contribution will even take some car washes just wanted to make sure where we were cuz I didn't know if we had a car were we to buy the time frame the time is very short okay so I would like to at this time we want to get more question but um go ahead yeah quickly um Sandy um Miss dorsonville can you tell us if the who are you allowed to tell us who's sponsoring the car no I'm not not yet that's why I've been so vague is it a new car it is not a new car okay no I'm just wondering it's not but it's it's close okay it's close we're not giving anybody a bot okay that's all any other qu Dr Madame W no no thank you Dr no no no um Dr de Merit ask my questions I'm good okay so at this time um I would like to put a motion on the floor for us to support uh specifically Prosperity Social and Community Development group with this Initiative for Mother's Day Giveaway for the city of North Miami giving away a vehicle to a single parent or a parent in need of Transportation in the city of North Miami do you well we have to ask for nomination but you can co-sponsor that's fine I I personally um understand the value of having a vehicle um as a mother as a business owner I know that um there are a lot of families in the city who do not have transportation and transportation limits you in many different ways first and foremost if you don't have transportation that can stop you from getting a a better paying job because you do not have transportation to get there secondly if a parent is able to have transportation that that might mean more hours for them in the morning depending on how long it takes them to travel to drop their kids off to school and of course you have after school program if the person is taking the bus by the time they leave their job they pick up their child from school to get on the bus to go home all of these factors um when you add them up is time that they are losing from actually being home and providing nurture providing care for that child and of course as I mentioned initi initially a higher paying job and so I think this is an excellent initiative I commend this organization for the work that they're doing because the reality of it is we need to do things that actually have an impact right and transportation would directly impact not only the mother but the child and any other child living in that household and so I am 100% and in support of it at this time we have a motion on the floor do I have a second uh before we second the motion I just want to um uh make sure that um when you're putting the the criteria and the processes in place I would definitely consider um interviewing this individual to see if they know how to drive um you know we have to cover all our bases and making sure that they get the support that they need um to ensure that you know they can get from point A and not have a car sitting in the parking lot very good singan we will make sure that the person has a a driver's license thank you so very much we will ensure that a valid driver's license that is uh do have a second um before that too I would like to know how we will support if we're going to do financially like us personally give the whatever we we're going to collect to give or from the women commission budget that we have we know we do not have a budget that's that's what whatever what so I think it's very clear that even with the initiative with um helping 50 women in the city start their own businesses by going through a master class we've adopted the model that whatever we bring forth we will have to raise the funds for that and the reality of the situation is uh part of being on this type of board requires for us to raise money you know there's no way for us to really serve uh 50% of the population of 6,000 people on $5,000 that's just no way right um we've had several events we know just to have our deres uh water and drinks in the lobby we know what that cost and so um I want to be very clear that every initiative that we bring forth on this board even with the health um Wellness seminar it requires partnership it requires for us as you know very well Dr manula going out there connecting with those that can support such an initiative having a letter together and raising funds so there is not one initiative that we are going to present as a board or support that is is going to come from a budget because our budget is it's not $5,000 yes and so I want us to uh approach every um Proposal with that understanding that it's going to be work on our part It's going to be uh connecting with our partners connecting with those that are business owners in the city and of course we want to bring legitimate um initiatives that people can and sign on to because they believe in it and they see the impact but I would love to propose that before we commit ourself to something it's let's start fund raise and then when we have something in our pocket we say this is okay we going to allocated this for that CU this a beautiful C but if we don't have nothing today and the party is and May 11th how many days that we have left and let's say for example someone like me that's is cannot be my focus right now because I'm leaving town by May 9th and I'm not coming back this even going to be you know I have to focus and looking for money for the health conference so I'm already excused myself unless I said okay Doctor um I will choose to my personal fund to give something thing no and we don't want that no no no no no no an example I like it would be very you know clear let's raise the money first whatever we have because we don't have time whatever we have we said okay we will donate this me I'm for it so let let's not say we're going to do it and then when they they come we don't raise the money to donate to to the organization ation I think that is an excellent point um D sendy dorsonville if you can come back to the podium um I would like to propose that because we are specifically looking to make an impact on a mother that we can announce it on that day that this is an initiative that we're going to be working towards and give the board about 90 days to be to participate financially understanding that we do not have a budget but we are going to work we can work diligently to ensure that we make we make this happen and so uh I would like to propose to you that the 11th could be the day that is announced but giving us a 90day window where there is going to be I'm sure a very detailed selection process which you would need time for that um Dr you vote you need a vote before you make that commitment you need a vote from the board I'm I'm not voting it I'm just getting to the point to ask her for specifics so that we can amend so that it's not that we are agreeing that on the 11th we would uh be in a position to support because as Dr flma stated her focus is elsewhere right now she believes in it but she could not commit to it right now so I think that in good faith a 90-day time period why 90 days I'm just choosing 90 days a 90day time period would give us us adequate time for us to um get a package together where we can go out into to the community speak to business owners speak to other women who would want to support such an initiative and deliver it but as Dr FL Moore stated deliver it as stated so we don't want to say on the 11th and on the 11th we do not me that so therefore I am a I am presenting a motion for us to uh agree to partner with Prosperity Social and Community Development Group on this project to on this initiative to present to a mother in the city of North Miami a vehicle for transportation do I have a second I have an additional question um now that I'm thinking about your response Madam chair uh Madam chairwoman sorry um Mother's Day Giveaway the intent was for um Prosperity Social and Community Development Group to do a raffle or give away a car to a single mother now you're saying that that person you would need 90 days so that means the goal that you have in mind is already it's not that I said 90 days I am agreeing with what Dr flos stated we work as a team if she is saying that in the next couple of weeks she is focused on bringing forth the wellness conference um and that that requires for her to that should require actually all of us to be out getting support for her and support for this conference and so in L in light of that I am saying that her Point absolutely makes sense if we are to agree upon this let us do so giving us time to actually do it that's all I'm saying back to the question I had uh Sandy what I'm saying is is this idea for Mother's Day still going to be presented to the board of Prosperity Social as as an act because if it's already if it's if it's just something you're presenting to us but they already have in mind to do the giveaway on that day I don't believe that the giveaway was going to be done on that day I think it was going to be announced on that day that's why I didn't have any um thing to say when um chair L said that so the goal wasn't to give away the car on May 11th it was to pretty much bring it up to our mothers to let them know that this was an initiative that we were undertaking on their behalf and to ask them to participate and we're just like we're asking this board to participate and helping us bring this project to fruition so the 9 days will work thank you it's clear to me now I have a question will it be supporting the car or peripherals like any other type of uh of support that we can give but not necessarily the car because that's what IOD I think the original intent of the request was for support for the vehicle to make sure because the there were reasons why a person doesn't have a vehicle usually it's because they can't afford the peripherals of the vehicle sometimes it's the car insurance sometimes it's the um it's putting gas in it every month sometimes it's just a vehicle that they previously own no longer works so I think the original request was to support the initiative because we have identified a vehicle so this would just be a way to give someone a complete gift you know it's like when you give a child a toy at Christmas without the batteries and they can't play with it so the same concept that we would give them them um this wonderful gift but we would also provide them with some um uh partial thing um partial assistance to get them going gas Insurance maybe a one time ask or is this going to be ongoing for this would be a onetime support this is a onetime ask this is a I mean we would love if if the opportunity arises and we have several cars I will be coming back again but for now um it is my understanding that we just have one vehicle in mind so we can only bless one person with this but if we're blessed with several cars I would like to say for the record that I may return on behalf of prosperity to request for additional support so we can bless several women but for now we only have one vehicle Madame chair if I may ask um all of you board members what do you think if Miss dorsonville come back to our June meeting I think by that time she will have all the details about the car and what how how much she collected how much is missing or what is missing so for us to know which point where we going to start if we for example example I'm say it again an example if we're going to pay for the insurance for the year for you so we know that we out to looking for the year insurance money but I think that we will need when you have everything if if the board members agree with that bring all the details all the information and then we'll see what we can do to help because this is a very good cause so because it is a very good cause and because I truly believe in what Prosperity is doing and I do believe that this would be an initiative that has a great impact on the woman that receive it I am going to move again uh for a vote to support uh Prosperity Social and Community Development Group um on this initiative and for those who are in agreement what are we asking I believe every person who puts an effort to make this happen and you give 100% whatever we are able to raise with a letter specifically telling the donor this is what it's for we will present it to Prosperity with good faith and they will make up whatever the difference is I think that um time is of the essence and I you know we have been here for over two two years and so I think that it is time that we start bringing forth initiatives um presenting policy that actually has an impact on the women's lives and I do believe that as we begin to support initiatives and support nonprofits like Prosperity we will begin to see women come to our meetings we will begin to see women take our meetings seriously because they're going to see that we're actually working on their behalf we're just not meeting just to have a meeting they can see that as we're making changes as we're proposing policy wow I truly feel the impact and although as she stated it will only be for one woman but can you imagine that pressure off of that mother can you imagine them receiving that and knowing that they actually have transportation I think that um putting it off for June just continues to delay things when we can move forward their prosperity is not asking us for a specific amount they're asking us to engage they're asking us to take part and whatever we collectively we are six members you know whatever we can collectively come forth they're saying we will take it with gladness and so with that said um I put the motion back on the floor to support a giveaway uh in collaboration with Prosperity Social and Community Development Group for a car for a single mother in the city of North Miami do I have a second a second at this time we'll take a roll call was going here how do you vote well I would gladly vote Yes as I said I support the de initiative however I am missing like other people on the on the on the board said it we are missing details uh mville and I understand the the momentum I understand the I mean the well uh um uh of this uh initiative how it will impact uh the mother who will be receiving it and we will be happy to see that mother leave with that car as well however you also are in a position to understand that it is a short notice and we don't have any budget where we could go easily and dig and get you something so we have to discuss it how we are going to participate more or less how much we have in mind where we are going to land in order to ask for assistance to provide because we cannot give what we don't have we cannot engage in something without further details more details and how so that we don't um you know I mean retract from it so therefore if you don't mind to come back with more details while we will be discussing on how we will contribute whatever it is we will contribute then I think it would be better instead of engaging ourself in something that we don't I mean we are missing things thank you so very much uh was comp here uh we do have a motion on the floor how do you vote Well for now I vote no Dr Tian how do you vote um I do have to vote no at this time because um we have not been presented with the facts um you don't have the details yet you still iron them out and so if I had seen a proposal and within this event is happening in two weeks less than two weeks I think uh I have to agree with um Miss um wasia that we need to um we need some time to digest this and also I'm looking forward to support um Prosperity I don't problem supporting but I would like more information and um at least something that's concrete so we can oh we're there's a bit of miscommunication my purpose of me being present today was just to notify you that this initiative was happening and to just find out from the board if you would like to participate the intention wasn't for you to vote on whether or not you were going to give anything or what you were going to give it was our organization saying we have taken on this task and this event and we would like to know if we can say publicly that we have engaged the women's Council to participate that's it I didn't I would never come without piece of paper I want you know I understand that that you would need a formal proposal um this was just to let you know this is something that we are talking about and that we are participating we we are doing we are actively doing and we would like to know would you like to participate and then of course there would be further conversation and we would give additional documentation so I just want to make that clear that there was never any intention for you to vote on actually giving an amount or doing anything specific this was just to say for you to say yes we think it's a great idea we want to talk about it too we want to continue this conversation that that also was my understanding of what we were voting on was just a vote to engage to engage and then we would come back and discuss more details about how that would actually look exactly that was my understanding as well thank you and thank you Madame doen that was also my understanding moving on with the agenda uh June annual women and girls Health Wellness conference uh Dr mandula can you please give us an overview on where we are with the health and annual woman and girls Health Wellness conference dear Madame chair today I'm asking you permission to take over every duties from if it's possible from the city to move forward and then I will take responsibility to do the letters and then share it with you do the Flyers share it with you because me and Dr de Merit we sent information yes Dr de Merit to the the group chat and I email information since April the April 8th we asked for Save the DAT Flyers the day passed so we cannot have a save the date Flyers we ask for a letter to formally invite our guest speakers yes I called them Dr dear called we have yes verbally but since we are women commission we want to do everything formal so until now the letter is not ready so um me and Dr Deary we want to move forward because especially this conference it's you know it's my conference for the month of June for the HIV I donated the conference to the women commission but with one of my primary sponsors for my business so I don't want that relationship to fail because I know they have too much work at the city but I have staff in place that can do the job if you allow me I can have my staff they AR pay one anyway so the same thing I can have my staff do everything and share it with you if you agree so for me to be able to have the the Flyers because May 1 is tomorrow so thank you so very much Dr flma unfortunately I cannot give you that right away because the city has to approve anything that goes out with their logo and their branding and so at this time we would uh present that request to Dr Fiola Delisa uh Dr furore is putting a request for for her to create the flyer herself um through her organization and so if you can please advise or seek counsel on what will be the procedures once the flyer is created for that applier to be approved by City Administration what yes please good evening once again um I do have some updates in regards to that request on behalf of um Madame K our ACM and our chief of staff unfortunately she's not um in today but um this is the report that I have that the progress for the flyer for the June 1st event is in progress I should have a first draft by Wednesday or Thursday this week so I don't know if that suffice or if you would like to continue with your efforts and as far as I have a letterhead revision but I don't know about a letter so I can follow up if you like as well yes we need a letter to send out to um um I don't know do you want me to give you the name or for the sake of time I will forward you the names we need a letter and an invitation letter to send out to those um women that will come to the to the conference the speakers that will be the speakers because we want to use the picture we want permission we you know we want to do everything the proper way so after we don't you know we for them to feel like we welcome them the way that don't listen they they deserve so I'm going to send you all the names because I sent them Dr the mar sent them by the way already and then we need the letter ASAP okay I will follow is there so for this June 1st event is it just the flyer in the letter anything else Flyers a letter yes that's all so only letters for speakers nothing else letters for speakers yes what about the attendees how are you engaging them do you have a platform attendees we have in that in the flyer we're going to have a link so that's already taken care of but does the city need to do that they I already send the link to them I will we send everything to you too now all right if I have any questions they have to register through that link because the sponsor that will sponsor the the lunch and breakfast they need the head account yes at our last planning meeting we discussed the name being a bit too long for the conference and so at this time I would like to open a discussion to shorten the name of the conference so that going forward um annually we will use the same name uh for consistency and it will be one that works well over time you mean the here this one correct so what we what we use um I think last year was um annual woman Health Women Health and Wellness conference we didn't have girl right I don't mean let me check the Flyers we can check the flyer but I think that as the commission for women um we can drop annual and just put Women's Health and Wellness conference I think that's straight to the point it's concise and then over the years whether we are here or or no longer here it will it will wear well instead of making it much longer that's my suggestion uh Rose do you have a suggestion so to repeat you said Women Health and Wellness conference yes ma'am let me see something give me a second may I refer to Dr flon since it is uh quiet her we're going to get back to her I just want to make sure that we get everybody to give a suggestion so that she can hear everyone's suggestion while she something that will wear well over time Women's Health and Wellness conference that was the name last yeah but that's not what's here and I don't we don't know what they have on the flyer because we're not specific so we want to be very specific so for this year sen it is our second annual if Dr delika if you can make this note it will say second annual period now we are confirming what is the name of the event I have suggested wom's health and wellness conference without the girls well Madam chairwoman at the last meeting um this girl was brought up to the table and said that we needed added girls because we wanted to adress not only the women but the young the youth and so that's why the girls came on it so I see a point I think uh it once we say Women's Conference um the if you going not going to have a section dedicated to Young to the youth then it's fine so having a section dedicated to youth on a program or putting a special call for young women to be in attendance does not change the title of it and so as a commission for woman we are are impacting the lives of women of all ages in the city of North Miami however for this particular conference the name again is leny so I believe Women's Health and Wellness conference yeah okay would would wear well over time and so that does not mean that we are not going to have a specific focus on young women and we can choose the age group that we would would want to focus on partnering with the high school or even the elementary school partnering with churches nonprofit organizations um uh organization like prosperity to make sure that we have young women present we are specifically talking about the title are you in agreement Dr fluore yeah yes I I don't have no problem with that um uh so the um Dr um Fiola uh since we have to send in utation to high school and then other nonprofit organization could you please um help us on that add that to like not only the letter for the speakers but um for the school high school and no I think school going to be over at that time because it's June 1st now oh yes okay to school high school but June 1st is a Saturday right yes to high school and then um other um nonprofit org organization like Prosperity there is another um organization that has the girls they well dress and pink I think it's Dr yi yi yes could you invite them that would be that would be nice to have them there okay so Dr fola we have of course it will say second annual that's continual but that is not the title of the event the event is Women's Health and Wellness conference so to clarify what do you want on the flyer do you want second annual or you just want the title second annual so that will be continuing every year but the title is woman women's health and wellness confence you supposed to end at 5 at 5 and then he was running outside everybody oh because of the rain oh because the last the last speaker this the finance lady she and then the the we had yeah the finance lady kipped everybody until the end and even when she want to finish her her speech people ask her to talk more so that's what we finished rain yes it was raining heavily yes right so I think on paper on the flyer we can put um 9 to 4:30 as a suggestion and so that gives us 30 minutes but um to ensure that there is a very detailed agenda like last time that um there's breakfast in the morning so then the breakfast is from um 9: to 9:30 yes Dr de Merit has um the agenda the pre agenda okay hold on so when're so we had 8:30 for registration then we had 9 for breakfast and then a 9:45 welcome and opening and then 10 would start our panel for the her story and then 11:30 we have a lunch and learn for the finance piece one was stretch and movement 1:30 was a motivational speaker 2: p.m. mental health and wellness 2:30 HIV disease prevention and then 3:30 presenter um presenter recognition and closing remarks so 3:30 we're starting to close it down so the idea is 400 p.m. we're done out excellent so there's no one presenting at for like we are yes because um I think you am send me a couple of things but I think next meeting not we don't have to wait for a meeting to send you the agenda right so we will send you the final agenda the meid of May so do we do we put then um 830 or is it 8 a.m. to 3 it would be 8:30 registration and then the conference would be from 9 to 4 no from 10: to 4: because at 10: we going to have our first panel 9 it's breakfast people come and then it's like a networking 9 to 10 9 to 10 9 to 9:45 because 9:45 it's going to be um welcoming and then at 10 we start so for the purpose of the flyer what will the flyer say that's what I'm asking that's the question I think we need to say eight whatever we starting registration you need to have it in there you could put 8 to 9 registration and then from 9 to 9 because at at the in the Flyers we're going to have the registration link that people need to start registered before the event because it's head count for them to provide a food okay so to move things along um why don't we do this why don't we say on the on the flyer registration opens at 8:30 so people know that it's registration time and we know that at 9:00 we're going to serve breakfast by 9:45 breakfast is going to be over that does not need to be stated on the flyer so registration starts at 8:30 and no they have to register prior so the registration is for the people that check in yes so check in: yeah we not put it on the flyer for people to register because more people that registered in the link better it is for them to know of course of many check in so checkin begins at 8:30 so you need to say then um pre-registration is required yes pre-re on the on the flyer you will also say pre-registration is required um and Dr FL have you put together an invite event right link no they don't do event right everything going to do directly to the ATC link website to the sponsor that would provide the speakers and then the the food is that how we did last year m y okay but we can uh advertise there if people register to the event bright so we have to register them again to that um link okay fine no problem moving on with the agenda we talked about the name the ti the title we talked about the time uh we talked about the the letters that you require yes if we can have the letters like before Wednesday that would be good like tomor she oh tomorrow Wednesday yeah so before Friday let's say that if we can have the letter because the letter going to help us to have I would it would be nice I don't know what you guys think about it to have the picture of the speakers and the flyer or leave it the way I did it last year I didn't put it in the fly I put the picture of them and a little I I create a board so a picture of each speaker was in that board so okay so we we are in agreement that the the administration is going to bring forth a flight they're going to bring forth a letter that A Letter of Invitation they will also ensure that on the flyer we have checkin at 8:30 we also have the link or the location where individuals would have to RSVP is there anything else that you would like on the flyer no that's fine but um the picture of no it's it's up to you do you want the picture of the speakers to be on the flyers or we leave it to be inside of the center or in the agenda instead of having it on the flyer do you it's up to do you have the pictures ready to give them tonight letter no the letter I think the letter will give us the we request the pictures from that letter so there's no way we can have pictures on the flyer if we don't have the pictures for right now so we're going to go we're going to forego the pictures on the flyer we're going to have a regular flyer announcing the event once we have individuals confirm at that time we can release a flyer with pictures of the speakers con are we in agreement y okay next on the agenda still with the but not least let's talk about sponsorship where are we with sponsorship what is what is the cost of the conference and how much of our current budget is going to go to it okay did I send that to you let me see um mjd will bring the sponsor that will provide breakfast and lunch MH we we oh my God I prepared this I don't know if I send it to the the the the chat or I have to bring it but I send it again um we will mjd will pay for photographer and then a live streaming to make sure that we have um we have the the event also in our platform and um we will bring another company that will project cuz last time at the Scot Galvin we didn't have a projection So to avoid that we will have a company that will be there to make sure we have everything well organized so what is what us to do it's DEC it's responsible of the women commission so Decor so Al together what is your proposed budget for the event I how much how much is it costing for for everything or for the car no we I don't know about the food because that's not I don't have the yes that's going to pay for it I don't know but for the um video for the photograph and videograph will be $1,200 and the core we need to talk to Miss um um there was the the G to find out how much you will charge us so we just want to say on record the commission for women will only be responsible for for the core yes the core and then the rest we find sponsor for them okay and then if we have um oh there was something else we need sponsor for we would like to know if anyone can ask but not from our budget to buy a to have not a certificate because last year we give a certificate of appreciation if we want to go because it's free we don't have to pay for it or buy an award for the five woman that's going to speak on the you know about the my story okay do you know approximately what the cost of the awards are going to be it usually when I do like a decent award can be between 100 and up so Bas how many awards will you need five six women that's $600 yes and plus plus approximately how much do you think that would be for the decor that's Miss deia because that's I don't know we have to ask her how much how much did she charge last time for the decor okay so at this time we don't necessarily have a proposed request for the board to vote on and so we're going to ask for you to submit a a request for the total amount for the the recognitions the awards and the total amount for the decor okay good so Dr am mared and so that means that when we come back to our now do can I send this information that waiting for the next meeting no because we we have to vote on the amount of money we are going to spend okay and I Madam chair if I may um I do think $100 for an award is too much we can get awards at $40 okay um that are still presentable and we can get awards at $65 that are presentable that's fine with professional engravement okay great so at this time we are going to table the budget for the Women's Health and Wellness conference for our May 21st meeting at that time Dr Flore will present a budget for awards and the core for the conference okay okay moving on with the agenda is there anything else that yes one more thing so I will um be getting with um Dr Flor but and I will send out to our commission if anyone is available to um assist and continuing the other details of the planning that they you know are welcome to participate in in that planning so I'll send that out thank you Dr dearit at this time we are going to if there are if there are no other questions or concern concerning the Women's Health and Wellness conference yeah ladies okay great moving on with the agenda we're almost there um fundraiser for the business master class uh we approv this budget of $225,000 and at this time I would like to open a discussion on how we will move forward to raising these funds what is the timeline that we're going to set to have these funds raised and when the initiative will begin at this time I'll I've been starting with rose at this time I'll I'll start with Dr uh dearit Dr dearit um the question on the table is for the fundraiser for the business master class we have voted on this uh we voted on this for several months now and at this time we we would like to move forward with a process in which we're going to raise These funds number one number two a timeline to raise These funds and number three a projected date do you have any ideas or um comments concerning the business master class so when we were discussing this last um did we not talk about um approaching the council members to see if they had opportunities in their budgets to support the initiative did we did we ever have a chance to do that yes we did we did and do we know what happened did they um K didn't get back to us on that yet but we did put in the request okay okay so would be so definitely I think if any of the council would be able to check that so we want to leave this meeting with actionable items so at this time I'm going to move forward with requesting that a letter be put together and submitted to each of the council members well the entire Council uh for the city of North Miami in requesting funds specifically for the business master class at that time we can now follow up with their AIDS specific specifically because we would have had submitted um we would have submitted something via email or hand delivered to them that they could have reviewed are we in agreement Madam chairwoman um to my recollection I Believe Miss philippos K philippos said that um the we would have to get the item on the agenda by one of the either the vice chair women whoever wants to Champion it no so so there's diff two there's two different types of ways that you that the council can um give to a project they can personally take out of their um discretionary funds discretionary funds and that is their choice on how much they want to give I think that is the best route for us to go because again we voted on this several months now and so in order to move forward give them an opportunity to look at the initiative and let them see based on what is left in their discretionary funds how much if anything they would like to um they would like to donate to this project and so that is my suggestion in order for us to move quickly um to actually delivering this initiative now also I don't know I I don't have it in front of me as far as I'm not recalling her name at this time but the uh woman who's going to be facilitating this what was her name yes so October SBA celebrates um women own businesses so as far as the timeline goes um maybe we could work on um raising whatever it is we need to raise and then present that in October at our October meting meeting um or have a process by which they can um be a lottery or however we're going to select these women and then present that at our October meeting okay so you're you are proposing so so first we want to confirm that as far as the elected officials we are going to send a formal letter to them second Dr demerit is proposing that our date to begin the initiative in October no that would be the date to present so I'm saying since October that and I just looked this up I like when does the SBA so the SBA celebrates women in business in the month of October so I'm just thinking it would be very nice to have that presentation um for um the initiative so maybe it can get kick started it can start at that moment present yeah the women who going to be involved in October so that would give us may until September to fundraise and get everything situated and locked in for the women who are going to be participating but I don't know what her outline is because I think she has certain months that she does certain things or I don't know if she can make adjustments so that might be fine no I think I think that the onus is on us to choose a date to commence and so if we want to commence in October um that is on the floor I I would say that we spend May June and July raising funds and we commence in August remember we in recess as well there's recess in the August I believe is recess in August I think Dr fola can you confirm when recess if if it's in August then we start in September we have to have the funds first we just stated that we would spend May June and July raising the funds okay when you get the funds Dr Dr Dr that's not I understand but that's not the way this works here I mean we have to give ourselves a deadline we have to say that if we need two months to raise the funds then we're going to say that we're giving ourselves two months to raise the funds and in two months we have the funds you know I I I understand there is more a LAX you know approach to this but I think that we've been laxed about it a bit long enough I think at this time we have to put some deadline in place and hopefully that motivates us to actually F meet those deadlines because if we don't create deadlines then we're just going to keep pushing this back and pushing it back and so I think uh I I believe uh Vice chairwoman stated uh having fundraising in obviously the month of May fundraising the month of June fundraising in the month of July um I think that's great Dr Fiola will find out um when is our recess for us and if you don't have it now Dr Fara that's perfectly fine you can come back at our next meeting to confirm that um based on previous um information It's usually the middle of July so they have the first meeting which I think is the week of July 4th and then they go on recess till the end of August to the end of August so that means that we would begin in September okay so are we com I know Dr Fiola just left are we comfortable with raising funds throughout the month of May throughout the month of June throughout the month of July Rose gumer your thoughts three months sounds reasonable thank you dran um I I'm just thinking of the the the June project we have that's coming up and then um cuz you know you when you go ask for sponsorship you want to make sure you don't ask the same folks for the same um funds so how would we be raising the funds I guess my question is so uh we can let's go through whether or not we a agree with 3 months and then the next the follow I agree with three months I'm take I agree with three months uh Vice chair yes I agreee with three months okay great and so we are all in agreement with three months now how do we proceed I suggest that we put together a uh fundraising package which details the master class what it will offer to each woman okay and then I think that we should uh go into the selection process letting the person who's donating know how we we will select these women because that's definitely a question that they will ask and then last but not least we give a proposed start date understanding that there's recess for the month of September so and if we started in September that means in October it will end which we are looking to have a very nice event at the end and so during the month of October when the state is celebrating um women in business we would be actually having our closing ceremony CU that how long does it take oh it's it's over a month right so it wouldn't be so if we're starting in October we wouldn't we would no I'm saying we should start in September and then the closing reception will be in October so my only concern with that is are we giving ourselves enough time for the selection process so I think the fundraising time frame is good but when we're done fundraising and we solidified the funds then how do we when we're initiating the selection process do we have enough time for that so that's why I'm saying September would be a good time yes I'm trying to get us from one point to the other so the next conversation is how are we going to select okay so right now Dr fluro while you were gone we are in agreement that 3 months for fundraising is a good enough time to fund raise for the $25,000 are you in agreement while you were gone yes that was my question so we are this is why we're discussing this so are you in agreement that 3 months is a adequate time to ra to raise 25,000 everybody agreed that it is you're the last person I agreed for three months but not not so we I was Dr flon before you left I after you left we we briefly had a conversation that in order for us to be successful on this board we need to start setting time frames by which we do things I have I have another meeting so we do have to start um setting time frames by which we do things so that we do not find ourselves in a situation where we voted on something and then it just keeps getting delayed and delayed and delayed so we are putting benchmarks time frames goals for us we're setting goals and then we have to meet those goals so before you um before you came back we agreed that 3 months was sufficient in order to raise the $25,000 are you saying that's not sufficient no no I don't say that I we need to know which plan that we have in place that in three months yeah we're going to that okay let's get into that okay so are you in agreement that 3 months is enough for you for us as a collective to raise $25,000 I'm in agreement to raise fund for three months but how much I don't I cannot you know compromise myself say we going to do it in 3 months we're going to raise 25,000 in 3 months because we know how the situation is so we're going to ask people the life situation the economic situation is not easy so we're going to knock in doors to ask for $225,000 you may raise 10 I may raise five I may we one person Mar is the 25 but we need to have a plan we say from this you were a finance person I'm not we're coming with a plan as soon as you give me the plan I said okay I'm going to work on it we going to do itep are you in agreement for 3 months I'm in an agreement for 3 months with no amount our Dr ien um has is asking to be excused because she has another meeting and um it's 83 I'm supposed to be there 7 so you have your excuse okay guys so what is the plan how do we move forward the pl one my suggestion is that we work on identifying 25 small business owners who can give $1,000 first plan of action once we go through that and we're not successful then we can go to 50 business owners who can give $500 the reason I'm specifically saying to Target small businesses because they understand what is at stake they too at one point in time needed seed money in order to start their own their first business and so the owness will be upon us to convince them why they should invest in the woman in North Miami um I do understand that we are in hard times and so this is why uh our former chair initially stated that we can collaborate with elected officials and now that we have set a process in place by which we will contact those elected officials now how do we engage the public who in the public do we engage and at what price point and so that's my um that's my suggestion and Miss Dr Ian before you leave um if I can um ask you to please once the letters are written and sent out to the the uh elected officials if you can be the point person to follow up with them we would really appreciate that thank you so very much okay Dr Madame chair um what do you think if we since it's the event would be in October right no we we stated that we would raise funds in may we would raise funds in June and we would raise funds in July in July there is going to be recess and so somewhere in the midle of July we will have recess until August and so we are slating for the master class to begin in September our vice chair State um shared with us that the month of October is um a Statewide focus on us us us Focus excuse me on um B small businesses and so it would be phenomenal for us to close out our reception for these 50 women in the month of October okay my question is since it's going to be the new fiscal year for the Miami dead County what do you think if we applied for a grant um for that amount since is to help or we can partner with the SBA or the chambers or whatever like organization we can reach out to them and then apply from Miami did for a grant for that amount or maybe more so we can help more because one thing I don't know if I'm I heard that correctly it will be hard for a small business to donate $1,000 let let's say so it will be better for us to give them a $1,000 then ask them so if we can look for the money like you know with the why a grant and then we look for it Dr Dr Flore I would love to to to find out your commitment on writing this grant yeah I don't have no problem but we have to pay a grand Rider okay so so let's let's um let's remain Focus good I thought we could not um cuz we're not an organization we could not apply for our grants cannot no at the last time we did brought this up so let's um of course we can present that to Dr fola um can you please find out uh what is our limitations in seeking other funds from other government entities um or just other entities and organization in the meantime in the meantime I uh would like to remain focused around what is before us and what we can naturally do we can naturally put a sponsorship package together and we can all dedicate our time to connecting with small business owners within the city of North Miami or even Beyond and identifying 12 businesses okay or maybe large firms that would be willing to donate $1,000 and we would seek out 25 once we have exhausted that process and we do not come up with the $25,000 then we can seek out medium businesses and asking for a donation of $500 and then at that point in time if we do not meet the goal then we can look or come up with another process that is what I am presenting at this time uh Madame Rose do you have any suggestions on how we can raise the funds okay well I would go with your uh suggestion thank you uh Dr Ian I would recommend that we uh reach out to the uh North Miami Chamber of Commerce to see how they can collaborate and and help raise the funds thank you so Dr Fiola with the letter that's going out to the members of the city council please have one go out to the two Chambers which is um hack off and the greater North Miami Chamber of Commerce anything else dran um I'm not sure if the city has a database of all the business owners around um we could send that to them I would recommend you send it to every person that owns a business in the city excellent thank you so very much and I think uh with the letter that's going out to all the business business owners we should give them different criterias so maybe starting from 150 300 500 a th000 so no matter their size of business they can find a way to participate can you please clarify you said a list of businesses so is this from the database request or is this Dr 10 is requesting for us to identify whether there is a current database for all North Miami businesses and if there is we should also have a letter sent out to them asking for them engaging them and asking for them to participate in um this initiative with this I'm clarifying because initially your your uh first um suggestion was to reach out to 25 businesses so did you already have them identified so we will work together to identify 25 businesses that can donate ,000 that we're not asking for you to do anything with that we're simply asking for the administration to I to present our letter of um support to North Miami businesses this is separate from the 25 businesses that I initially spoke about I would also uh recommend that um if not the chairwoman or the vice chair to to do a PSA U cuz I know there's a there's TV with the city where you can actually do something uh and and trying to ask for this because um you have news newsletters that goes out you have um your media Outlets to maximize the use of the media Outlets to reach out and if any business owners are watching tonight and also any philanthropist watching 25,000 is not a big ask um I just think sometimes we we think about our schedule and our time commitment and what we're doing because we want to make sure that we support these ideas but funding is always an issue and so we this is why we asking for support from everyone who's watching okay uh Dr foro would you like to add anything to that yeah add it's like invite more Chambers as possible Miami day Chamber of Commerce they were very good the SBA there's um FIU business um school that I don't know if it's the business but they there to help people okay can we give her specifics within 48 hours so that they know exactly who they should be sending the letter to no no the SBA that's SBA for that and then um FIU the business department they are they have a program that they help small business so it's just a Google like we look for Chambers to business that you know involve and educating and then and helping small business I don't have them but you know randomly we can look for them if we need them because say that a lot we going to raise 25 and and 3 months months if we you know people want to donate it's something that we can do in one hour but if let's say in Plan B so we need to be able that to cover that cost in case the plan a doesn't work me I always want to work with the plan B So the plan B for me it's looking for people that already there providing the same Services they know where to find fund they know how to do things so they can help us better to raise the money and give it to to the small business and I don't think that it would be fair to ask the small business to donate the, especially in North Miami they will not have that money okay so as we move with the agenda Dr demerit do you have any contribution to how we can raise these the the $225,000 nothing to add accept what I have already concerning the council um but I did want to add Miami D Women's Chamber of Commerce so that's also another one so I think we can try to put together something um to start to identify um these places so so just to be clear um I think at this time we are all in agreement that we can reach out to chambers within Miami day County so we do have two within the city we are asking admin Administration if you can please take the time to identify four other chambers within Miami day County that uh we can send the same letter to don't forget the cras north Miami CR if we can ask them and then Miami dat County CA so those are something that we need to be clear we have to give her Specific Instructions so um Dr Fiola if you can uh identify five to six chambers that we can send the same letter to if you can identify uh C beginning with our very own that we can send the same letter to the city man and um the city council and administration that we can send the same letters to am I missing any other entity no thank you so very much Dr Fiola we really appreciate your patience um in taking this um information in the interest of time we're going to move uh to table some of our remaining items um but before we do we definitely want to talk about agenda submission process we want to ensure that the agenda is uh out one week in in advance and in order for us to do that we have to submit our items for the agenda the week prior and so um if we look at our Calendars our next meeting is scheduled for uh Tuesday May 21st that means that our agenda should be completed by May 14th in order to do that we would want to give staff enough time to do to put it together we should submit our items no later than May 7th and if for whatever reason we need more time then it should be the deadline the hard stop should be May 10th Rose do you have any suggestions or concerns with that request no at this time thank you so very much Dr Ian no objection okay I have no objection um Dr Flo no I don't have okay Dr Magda dearit works for me excellent so um we will have the agenda prepared we will submit our items by the 7th of of May no later than the 10th of May okay does that work for you guys excellent excellent um Recruitment and interns and volunteers if staff can just put a letter together for us to send out to find interns and volunteers we obviously see that this is a lot of work that needs to get done and it surpasses the time and capacity of the six of us so we we are in dire need of assistance and so we ask that you uh put the letter together for us to recruit um interns and I think with even with FIU we can send it out you see in the women's history Department um and any other department within this the schools the University where there's a concentration on women and we can find some young students who would love to work with us okay are the colleges and universities correct fi we can begin with FIU um orry or Berry my college okay um and so at this time uh the last item that I would like to discuss is meetings um and so obviously we see what happens when we do not have our scheduled meetings and so we know that there is a guideline within the city that uh you cannot miss three meetings within a rolling year so we just ask that everybody obli to that and um if you do have to miss a meeting you communicate that to Administration and um we we try our very best not to skip a meeting if for whatever reason we do not have Quorum we will move forward with identifying the next schedule date with quorum Rose do you have a concern or I agree I don't have any concern and correct Dr Ian no concern thank you thank on the chat some of you said you already RSVP um this is here um Miami D county commissioner Mar basan District 2 cordially invite a extend a formal invitation to the 2024 Haitian Heritage Haitian Heritage cultural month Haitian Legacy opening reception in collaboration with Miami de County mayor Daniela LaVine Cava and Miami de County chairman Oliver G gobert III District 1 the mag This Magnificent occasion will take place on Wednesday May 1st 2024 from 6:00 to 12: midnight at the VIS guia Museum Gardens and um it says we anticipate your presence uh and of course you have to respond by April the 24th at hof.com 2024 hhm so um I was able to register even yesterday so if you want to go on the link can thank you Dr Tan we thank you for that announcement um lastly so we are going to table our North Miami Commission for women 90day plan for our next meeting for May 21st um administrative follow-ups um I believe Dr Delisa did see that there are some members who do not have a name tag is that correct or did you find everyone's everyone has a name tag it's just one that needs to be um properly updated okay excellent can you do that for us it's going to be taken care of in the morning thank you thank you we also also want to uh request uh two banners we're supposed to have two banners we ordered them we had them there may have been one that was damaged because of the um the flood that happened in the city if you can if you can find out what happened for us we would really appreciate it um the stepid repeat we had a step and repeat we don't know its current location and we are going to need it for the June um conference and so by next meeting if we can make sure that we've identified it if we have not identified it so that we can vote on that expense so just to clarify two banners and one step and repeat correct yeah we had them we had them I have pictures pro it okay next um now that we have a email address we've requested generic business cards okay that everyone can carry with uh pretty basic logo North Miami commission for women the city's address and the email and our email address and then on the back our social media handles we also discuss a letter head having everyone's name on the left hand side of the letterhead we discuss um name plates for all board members and last but not least a general monthly flyer inviting women of North Miami to our monthly commission meeting for approval okay I since since our March meeting with be uh becoming the new chairwoman I have taken the time to look at our social media um I think that it needs to be revived um I believe that we need to make an investment on that um I ask that all board members please take time give us access to it no just take time to look at it oh okay so I ask that all board members please before our next meeting take time to look at it as I was as I will be making a presentation on how we can Elevate our social media Pages get them active and cause individuals to follow those social media Pages engaged okay get engaged um at this time uh do we we have any questions concerns from uh Rose yeah I have some a couple announcement that just we'll give you a time to give all of your announcements Dr yet um Dr FL much is there anything else that you would have uh Vice chair nope not at this time okay we have table um the last item for North Miami commission for women 90day plan at this time we open up for public hearing may I Madame chairwoman before you continue on I just wanted to interject and give you updates so the letterhead revision is in progress it should be done by tomorrow thank you the latest Thursday as well and then your flyer for your monthly meeting is also in progress so once those things are available I will send it to the commission for approval thank you I want to add something the the monthly meeting Flyers can he goes can he be I'm placing the um there's a not it's a newsletter that's come out can it be added can our Flyers be added which newsletter there's multiple ones that come out through the city anyone okay they can add it in anyone if they can add it in all that would be good so woman can know that the commission exists well the city does have multiple media Outlets we do have a TV uh Channel we do have kios one outside one inside on the first floor we also do have our social media platforms as well as um a newsletter that comes out through the different elected officials as well as the city he so our specific request going forward would be that once the flyer is created that one week minimum before the schedule monthly meeting that the commission for woman flyer is a showcase on on all social media platforms all newsletters and any and any other Communications that the city is currently using in order to engage residents in the city of North Miami at this time we're going to open for public hearing open to the public you didn't let me seeing none public can I go downstairs say please public hearing is now closed oh no I want to say something downstairs uh we are running out a time public hearing is now closed we have a meeting two hours yeah we have a lot to do L to do it was two hours we uh anyone with a question an questions okay at this time we will uh give um Dr ien an opportunity to move forward with additional announcements thank you madam chairwoman um as you'll know the month of May is uh mental health uh awareness month and we know um several people are being impacted by um some mental health issues postco and are still affecting and so uh on behalf of the Haitian American Nurses Association we extend an invitation to the commission for women to attend the May 4th 2024 um mental health and Symposium in collaboration with uh Pearls of Life women Foundation at the Marjorie and William McDonald Center um 17051 Northeast 19th Avenue that's in North Miami Beach but we know we have people everywhere that can participate um the other thing is uh Dr Constance Miller who's the president of the Miami chapter Black nurses wanted me to relay uh the invitation from the Miami chap the Black nurses to all of you to attend their 43rd annual um scholarship in you know awar um scholarship and awards luncheon which is May the 11 May the May the 18th um at the Pullman Hotel it's from 11:00 to 3 and um okay we thought and hapsi I believe is having a a a health an an awareness a resource fair in Little Haiti uh during the month of March and everyone the reason I'm sharing these is because there's so many events that are coming up and we want to Eng to be engaged but when it comes to health of the health and wellness of the city the the people in the city we have to share those information wherever they can get help I I say go get the help and last but not least I do want to say uh that uh the past two years has been uh uh uh anytime you start something brand new there are some challenges and everything that was done in the two years it was done as a collective so I want us to stay focused and keep in mind that um we can't go back but we can move forward and not to um have any blaming you know I don't want to blame anyone for any you didn't show up for a meeting or you didn't do this you didn't do that because we know they say women can't work together we have proved them wrong because we have done the collective work together so whatever action we took we did it as a collective and we worked it out so that's all I wanted to say thank you madam chairwoman you're very welcome um at this time before we uh present a motion to adjourn I would like to thank Dr Dr maen for her two years of service as the chairwoman for the commission uh for women for the city of North Miami we thank you we appreciate you and uh we would like to formally congratulate our new Vice chair Dr magad demerit I look forward to working with you um in continued collaboration and to all of the members thank you so very much as Dr flma stated this has been our longest meeting and we want to ensure that we um we make good on timing but that also means that we need to ensure that we are uh taking care of the people's business and making sure that we are showing up and um bringing forth initiatives as we move forward I think that the next step here is for us to begin to propose policy that will actually have a greater impact on the lives of the women in the city of North Miami thank you so very much at this time Madam I guess I should have been public I should have been the public that spoke public hearing I just have a few announcements on behalf of the city fima Madame chairwoman um as you know as has already been shared it is tomorrow starts the full month of Haitian Heritage Month yes the county has a calendar as well so does the city so we want to invite you all to our kickoff that's going to be on Thursday May 2nd at the paradise Courtyard at 6 p.m. uh we do have other events that will be taking place throughout the city during the month of May we do hope that you will stay tuned to be a breast on those things also too on Saturday May 11th from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. uh and partnership with uh County Commissioner M bash of District 2 and the city we have Gourmet Creo Haitian food festival uh that event is going to have celebrity chefs it's going to have food tastings it's a family fun Affair it's a a free event and we hope that you all will partake with your families and help us to share this information so they can know the city of North Miami celebrates all cultures and communities um throughout the specific months that uh recognize different cultural groups thank you thank you Dr uh Delisa we truly appreciate your presence here tonight and the assistance that you have provided us and we look
