it was in 1975 it was in 1975 when the late Dr Alfred Pew presented to the state Baptist convention what he called the Haitian project and it was at that time two churches responded Kanan in Patterson and Shiloh in Trent and since that time we have operated in Haiti and we have assisted in a farm a clinic uh um nursing home and so many things through the years and through all of the challenges that H Haiti has suffered right now they're probably going through the harshest times ever in that country we have stood here on these same steps to do press conferences and to offer prayers for other countries and other situations but there is a need for something to happen in Haiti because good good people are suffering at the hands of terrible situations so we've come now to offer to call on God and to bring um bring attention to the situation there may hoping that others might join in in help and hoping that even our government would do something to help aid and help with the government there so that good people could live a good life we're grateful um some of the people from Canan are here some who have been to Haiti we um like I said we've been there for years and years we we feed over 20,000 people a years assisted in schools churches and Clinics uh my father got R Reagan to send a dialysis team to Haiti and the people to S train the people there but right now they need the Lord to come and intervene on their behalf amen amen I am grateful to have with us our mayor mayor Andre SE who has joined with us in this day of of prayer for Hope for hate I come as president of the United clergy Council to um and thank you for all of our preachers who are here and even for those who could not make it but we know they're praying right now so first we are going to hear from our mayor give give a hand to Mayor Andre [Applause] s good morning Patterson good morning first I want to thank Pastor Barry Graham Kanan Baptist Church Pastor I want to thank you not only for your leadership but I want to thank you more importantly for your friendship that's right today we stand here on the steps of City Hall in solidarity in solidarity for peace in solidarity for justice and solidarity for God to do his work in Haiti I was first elected mayor on May 8th 2018 a little over a week later the first flag that I raised when I was mayor-elect was the Haitian flag and Sheriff speal thank you for joining us Council McCoy thank you for joining us and all the pastors I want to point out that we were here a few months ago under the leadership of Pastor Barry Graham calling for a ceasefire in Gaza it is both hor horrifying and heartbreaking to see what is happening there but then when you see what's happening in Haiti it hurts your heart just as much senseless violence let's talk about pastor at the end the displacement that's occurring that's arguably one of the worst things that happen outside of murdering people and the hospitals I can only imagine what the healthare system is like probably decimated at this point and so we're doing what we can in our part of the world to send a strong message that Patterson is united united for Hai United for peace United for justice we want peace and Justice to Prevail and we want to end to the S senseless cycle of violence that unfortunately has ravaged Haiti right and so to our brothers and and sisters in Haiti you have brothers and sisters in Patterson may peace and Justice Prevail in Haiti thank you amen thank you um your your honor I mean your honor amen for that beautiful statement we are blessed to have one my my new friend and brother he is the pastor of the pison Haitian Church of God right there on 12th 10th 10th Avenue amen amen he is going to come and give remarks and offer up prayer for Hai amen give him a hand Pastor Michelle praise the Lord my dear brothers and sisters the Bible said when one is crying all of us is crying when one is Rejoice all of us we have to Rejoice together my country that I was born it used to be they used to call it the pearl of America you know what a pearl me in the islands it used to be so beautiful that's the reason when Columbus came he called the country lanola because they see they can't see any other country in the island so beautiful like H and years the country been devastated even if you put a trillion of dollars in Hai right now after a month they won't have a pain because the country been dealing with all kind of gangsters those with suit like we were suit those with sneakers and those with sleepers walking on this street you figure it out the country has no hospital working right now if someone is sick you don't have money to take an helicopter to go to Florida you're going to die because if someone sick they go inside thepit to throw the person out that's what we doing we are brothers and sisters we know this of as my mayor just said he knows what's going on in Haiti pastor Barry all the pastor J they know one [Music] thing there only one one God Jesus Christ we can call to save H because the bo is sinking they both start filling of water the only way to save the country this week President Biden sent some Army Chu for the police no it's God winning we need God we need Jesus Christ for him and that's the way to save our country it is not a country who for blue yellow white black green no from the day we have our independence our ancestors said this land is for everybody who's looking Looking For Freedom is not the land of one color is a land of moral that's the reason today if you can stand up please stand up because we're going to call the Lord of Lord the god of God in the name of Jesus Christ father we humble ourselves before for you yes we don't do it in front of any man on this Earth You the creator of this world before the foundation of the world you know today May 7 2024 we were going to be here we come before you to bless the city of father son and the mayor on his staff we ask ask you to bless the we thank Pastor Michelle for that beautiful prayer and for those awesome words you have to remember remember that we're talking about a country when they suffered the earthquake a few years ago as bad as things were all of that Aid all of that money never got to the people that's right Pastor Luke our representative there he sent me pictures of the stuff that was sent being sold on the streets instead of given to the people so our prayers are needed our our prayers are very much needed that God might have his way that people will not suffer I'm grateful for all of you here for all of the preachers amen thank you Bishop amen and all who are here um Pastor I'm oh God Pastor assemblyman Benji wimbl Benji wimbley was supposed to be here where and but he could not he's on his way but his staff could not be here he's trying to get here but on behalf of him and legisla District 35 Senator Nelly Po and the C woman sh sup we give hope to the Haitian people we give hope where there is no hope and so we ask that everyone continue to join in hand in hand doesn't matter who you are where you from what religion you are it doesn't matter we're all one people under God's sight and let's continue to pray for each other and let's pray for the people of Haiti thank you amen at this time we will have Bishop McCoy who will come and offer another prayer for Hai give him a hand God bless every youone special greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I am so excited about this opportunity that we have as Leaders especially the church community and the city as well to come and to pray for aen God made man in his own image not all different man so guess what a is a that's our brothers and our sisters I heard Pastor talk and I'm I'm in touch with a as well I was on my way here a couple of years ago and the Gang ballots uh just turned me off I couldn't go but I'm here today to offer a prayer uh for Haiti I sent some money here yesterday but as the Pastor said monies can't solve the problem it's a sin problem in 80 I want to tell you it's a sin problem in America as well Haiti was one of the first uh country that held out in slavery so that we can be free today and I'm I'm grateful for that aen led the way the freedom so we are here today to pray for them again I don't think money alone can do it but prayer If my people that are called by my name will humble himself and pray then God promis to hear from heaven and to heal the land in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ let us bow heads as we lift up the nation of Haiti in our prayers Eternal God and our father Jesus Christ the righteous I come before your presence now on the behalf of with the support of the leaders here the the clergy and the city to pray for a Jesus Christ a country that is our brothers and our sisters are suff suffering because of gang violence because of corruption in government because of inefficient government but thanks be to God we pray today that you would intervene Jesus Christ doesn't matter what happens in a the the the voodoo or the Witchcraft we come against every force that stands against our country we believe God it's a sin problem and we coming to you God and ask for forgiveness of our sin and the healing of our land and our brothers and our Sisters in A will be blessed in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ God bless you thank you [Applause] amen we thank Bishop McCoy that is brother of Bill McCoy amen we thank God for him and for all of you amen amen thank God again for all the preachers all the competitions I saw Jerry here a minute ago but he moves fast amen amen we're going to um bring our last person on that didn't promise not to keep you long thank you for looking at your watch say he all right amen amen amen I am honored to present to you my my brother and my friend Pastor Eton Pastor L Glory Church of this City he will come now give him a hand as he come thank you Mr President uh pastor Barry Graham uh we certainly give honor to all where honor is due thank God for the mayor who being who's here with us for our government officials who are here with us all the Pastors in the clergy that have come to support and show their solidarity the community groups and organizations that are here and the people of God who have a heart and passion for Haiti um I come to you today as a son of the land my my father was born and raised in leoan Haiti and one of six children the oldest of six children that at the age of 18 years old gave up his professional soccer career and prayed and said God can you help me take care of my family came over to the United States of America with $18 in his pocket ET and the only person that bought him and gave him a place to stay passed away 1 month later so here he is in a land with no language with no money um but all he had was a dream and an opportunity that his people in Haiti would be blessed and so I'm standing here today on the shoulders of someone who survived in Haiti I'm standing here on the shoulders of someone who had to endure hardness like a good soldier and who had to endure the suffering and pain and and see his family going through turmoil in Haiti but yet was able to work hard and provide here in this land of opportunity in the United States of America and now having conversations with my father who's now seeing four five living Generations that he's seeing alive and well his heart is heavy because he said he'll never be able to go back to Haiti because of where Haiti is on today it's ironic that may is Haitian Heritage Month where Haitians all around the world are honoring and celebrating and commemorating and communicating about the rich history the culture and the Legacy as the Haitian people a history of strength and resilience music Dance Arts Cuisine creativity and Innovation a rich history well-known and world renowned because of its independence in 1804 of being the first successful slave revolt to gain independence from France who was led by a global Emperor Napoleon bonapart and becoming the first free black Republic in the world and the First Nation to abolish slavery and end the slave trade a history that not only fought for its own freedom and its own independence but as Pastor Michelle said had a commitment to fight for the freedom of Nations all around the world supporting the rebellions and intercepting ships that were carrying slaves to other countries Haiti was responsible for freeing people from their the human cargo that was moving from Nation to Nation for Haiti's colonialism for Haiti colonialism and slavery anywhere posed a threat to republics of own independence and Humanity everywhere and because of Haiti's inspiration and inst and its assistance of freedom in many of the Latin American countries even today you see Haiti's impact and influence embedded in the similar red and blue flags of Venezuela the red and blue flags of Colombia the red and blue flags of Ecuador who are living blessed here even in the city of Patterson their red and blue flags commemorate the assistance the inspiration and the freedom that Haiti assisted in their Deliverance so Haiti wasn't just self fish for themselves but helped to bring Liberty to so many other nations in addition Haiti's history includes the major role it played in assisting America in the conflict with French with the French resulting in what we know as the Louisiana Purchase had Haiti not fought and intervene and to help the the the help the nation of America to fight against the French you wouldn't have your mrao you you would not have your your your your vacations to the South you would not be able to do what we do and to enjoy the the increase of the United States of America had it not been for the assistance of Haiti and so Haiti has proven that it's heart of compassion for oppressed Nations who are in need yet in moments of national crisis within Haiti there seems to be a lack of reciprocation the lack of the equal efforts the lack of compassion and assistance that's shown to Haiti that we show to other nations Haiti has been existing for 220 years and it's been dealing with this crisis and Calamity some internally inflicted and some internationally inflicted with political instability economic struggles health concerns natural disasters Haiti has faced one trial after another yet the strength and the resilience and the faith of Haitian people has not wavered but it has enabled them to endure however not without its challenges and in May of 2024 while we're here to not only honor commemorate and celebrate Haitian Heritage months but our hearts are heavy on today our hearts are heavy as Haiti is facing one of the most horrific humanitarian crisises that it's been in decades and the world seems to be silent about it Haiti needs an intervention yeah when things begin to happen in as natural disasters around the world we we have what's known as First Responders First Responders are the people that are courageous and bold enough to put their own lives in danger while they go and seek the the welfare of someone else we honor and commemorate the First Responders of 9/11 we commemorate the First Responders of earthquakes and hurricanes around the world the First Responders when in Louisiana when the bow began to break and when the Hurricanes Katrina kept through came through we honor the First Responders and Haiti has been the first responder for the nations of the world the first responder to bring healing to bring wholeness to bring freedom to bring deliverance and now while Haiti is in the crisis Haiti needs a response Haiti needs a responder we need a responder because of the families that are forced out of their homes due to the increased violence Haiti needs a responder now because of the people who are forced to migrate from the cities and the towns and The Villages to even live in tents praying for food Haiti needs of respondents where hospitals have shut down due to the increased violence forcing people to seek medical care in hospitals in lands far away Haiti needs a response even when medical supplies were sent from other nations games have interrupted and intercepted the crates at the ports so that the medical supplies are in the hands of gangs and they're using it to extort and to sell it towards the people Haiti needs a response when the prisons in Haiti were overrun by the gangs and they let go all of the conflicts and all the convicts and now the convicts are now serving in the gangs and are now further terrorizing and bringing fear to the people Haiti needs a response and while the United States and the rest of the world are showing tremendous compassion and support for the crisis in Ukraine and as we showed overwhelming support for Palestine and the Israelis over in Gaza it's disheartening that we don't see the the same energy that same compassion that is lacking in the response to Haiti but thank God for Patterson Hallelujah who is making our voices be heard on today that are lifting up our voices and we are responding and as we our people of faith we believe in the purpose and the power of prayer we believe that prayer works as a matter of fact we have committed 50 days of intercessory prayer for Haiti and today is day number 44 that we have been praying so we believe in the power of prayer we believe that Faith by faith prayers of the righteous availeth much we believe that when my people who are called by my name who humble themselves and pray that seek his face and turn from our Wicked Ways we believe that God will hear us forgive us and heal us oh we believe in the power of prayer however I also understand and believe the scripture that says faith without works is dead in addition to our prayers today we're asking for our local government who has come in support but we're now demanding that our federal government here in the United States gives immediate attention to the humanitarian crisis in Haiti yes with the same effort and energy that we've shown to the other nations of the world we're calling for response we need immediate intervention we need we're calling for the ATF and all other departments to immediately investigating the trafficking of guns and ammunition into Haiti Haiti is known for make for bringing forth his church suar can Haiti is known for developing coffee and rice and Haiti is known for all of those things but it's not known for developing guns how is it how is it that the police force in portter Prince is outgunned by the gangs in Haiti where are they getting these guns from well I'll tell you where they're getting the guns from on last month there was an interception of a port that in the port where there was a a case that was going to Haiti full of ammunition and guns which means that the drug the gun trafficking the drug trafficking is coming from somewhere in the United States and we need to have the ATF to investigate we need an investigation it is impossible to believe that this is happening to Haiti on its own yes there are some self-inflicting wounds of of corruption yes there are some self-inflicting wounds of deception but and greed and animosity but there are some things that are happening that are systemic that we need the United Stakes to even address we need the to to dismantle the gangs that are in Haiti we need the we need Kenya has offered to come in and to help send military forces to help stabilize the nation to deal with the gangs that are there and they need money that was allocated to Haiti that us is now blocking the Republicans and the Congress as blocking the funds that are available to Kenya to come and to end the violence why is it that they're trying to perpetuate the violence why is it that it's okay to see this happening and see this moving because somebody benefits from the dysfunction of Haiti somebody else benefits from the chaos and confusion in Haiti somebody else benefits When Haiti seems to be in stress but we believe today that when the people of God are not only praying but now we're also demanding for assistance the Bible says he'll give us favor with God and favor with men so we're asking for the government to be able to intervene and give immediate attention we're asking for the government just to investigate the drug trafficking coming into the communities we're asking for the government to send medical supplies that need to be reaching the hands and the places of the people who are in need and we're calling on a response from the name of the Lord for who soever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved and shall be rescued so father we call on you today as you've heard our petition and you've heard our cry and you've heard what we have petitioned and laid up before you but you said said that if you if we call on you that you will rescue us and so as Pastor Michelle said we stand in agreement that we need your presence we need your power we need your provision we need your direction to move in Haiti in the name of Jesus we come against all fear and intimidation because you have not given us the spirit of fear but you've given us power love and a sound mind we will stand firm stand strong and I we will lift up our eyes toward the Hills from which cometh our help our help comes from you Lord if there's help and there's Hope from Haiti it's coming from you Hallelujah if I was in my church I tell you to tell your neighbor help is on the way help is on your way Patterson is in agreement Patterson is in support the preachers are in support the mayor is in support help is on the way because God cares about Haiti God is concerned about Haiti and God we said that the nation whose God is the Lord shall be blessed the government will be on your shoulders and we'll give you the glory the honor and the praise for victory in Haiti healing in Haiti Restoration in Haiti rebuilding in Haiti and the Revival of Haiti in Jesus name amen [Applause] amen if I was in my church I say somebody ought to give God praise out of this amen a no no no somebody ought a holler like T said that God is still a good God and he's worthy of all the praise thank you Pastor Edan for that awesome word from God thank you my brothers and sisters who took the time and just as he said I believe that God still hears and answers PR oh I need a witness in I believe he all you have to do is check his record When the People Prayed God showed up and he delivered am so continue make Haiti a part of your prayer life I need a witness amen amen amen because God still answers P he he said so many things he he he stole my thunder amen I was going to tell y'all that Louisiana prees thing but um but we thank you thank you to the clergy thank you my brothers and sisters for your attention thank you mayor s for bringing this day this day and I encourage you for the rest of this day amen when you bless your food pray for ha I need to Wi when you say your prayers tonight pray for Haiti when you get up in the morning pray for Haiti if God allows you to live pray for Haiti and watch God work our father and our god it isn't that perfect IM master name of Jesus the Christ that a few of your believing children have gathered in your name father we don't come out of form or fashion because we come believing you hear and answer prayer and your word declares that all things are possible to them that believe while the gangs are running rapid in Haiti while Health Care is almost impossible in Haiti while even to get resources of food to the places they need to get seems so bad I know a God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we could ever ask or think so father as was said prior we just send your presence there that it because in your presence there is the fullness of joy thank you for allowing us to gather that we might come knowing that things are going to get better because the prayers of the righteous they still availeth much I believe he hears our prayer I believe he answers prayer I believe he turns things around and the reason I believe it cuz I've got experience with him in my life is there anybody here know what I'm talking about that God will show up and do what seems impossible bless all who gathered here this day thank you for the time that we've shared so father we're leaving this place not like we came but we're leaving believing that A change is coming that things will get better that things will get easier for the good people of Haiti in the name of the father in the name of the son in the name of your Holy Ghost amen somebody give God praise in here thank you so much thank you United clergy thank you preachers thank you every body it's hot see you later
