I'll start over at Bruce yeah well I'm Bruce I've been on the board for 12 years so I'm in my fourth term and and um have enjoyed most all of it the reason I'm on the board is I I like to see um everything getting better for the kids education 100% I am here thanks I'm Cheryl Vamp I've been on the board 12 Years also I'm now starting my fourth term um I came on the board because a couple of community members came and talked to me about it and I thought why not I wanted to a while back and I was too busy so it was perfect for me and I'm all for the and what goes on for the district what's good for the district and the children that's that's what I'm all for my name's Ron sper um still W behind the ears and still learning and why did you get on the board what's up why did you get on the board uh hoping to make a difference all right Rachel Ramson um going on my third year first term um why I is kids I have three young kids in the school district so I just wanted to be a part um I'm on my sixth year sixth year um and I joke that I'm six of 16 so hopefully terms if iue get reected um and everybody else make differences in the community um I've got two young kids in school too um and uh yeah I was approached by a pass board member that uh thought I would make the my candidate and I was something I've always thought about I was interested in so six years in I saying I have 10 years left I must not hate too much uh Jal corfit uh like Ron and and richel myself I've been on G on three years and uh approached by uh a board member thought maybe this might be something I'd be interested in I have and I've enjoyed it it's a learning experience and uh the growth potential being on the school board is uh gu a lot greater than I had anticipated in growth meaning involvement uh education involvement and the committee just an opening to have greater idea just how schools operate and uh so I have I've enjoyed it ex done um ja I well I've been on for three minutes now and I decided to run saw there was a need um thought it could make a difference and also I have a little guy who's just under a year old who I want to make this well I think it already is but make it even better school for him and ladies um hi I'm Magie and I'm a student rep I think this is my second year doing it I'm Nicole this is my second meeting doing all right move on appr all of the agenda is a recomendation of superintendant to approve the agenda motion second Mak motion Gerald seconds all in favor I motion passes public input I don't no um so move on to organization of the board uh we will now recognize nominations for the pos position of chairperson I make a motion to point Rachel Ransom as chairperson or president I second that nomination I'll make a motion to nominate director Pearson as chair person I apologize maybe I shouldn't said anything i' learned I shouldn't it's always kind of difficult because we're just trying to sort it out as who who it was right and without an existing chair it leaves it in a different different scenario so right and Rachel was vice share last year um there wasn't a second so oh for for okay director Pearson so well maybe okay I should strike that what I said did you I'm sorry I didn't understand did you second no you're good no but I nominated Rachel you're fine I won't say no and and I had second on it okay now You' walk through your questions and we have the first n with the first nomination there was Thomas yeah but then are there any F nominations then you walk through the questions are there any further nominations are there any further nominations are there any further nominations hearing no further nominations I entertain a motion to close the nominations and cast ballots I make a motion to close the nomination and cast the unanimous ballot Rachel there are actually more than there was one more more than one candidate though so we have to go through the process there was only one with the second Thomas clerk yes you clerk cler yes I don't know when you offer opinions here but I've always liked it when everybody that's kind of new and fresh to what's going on starts doing some of this Tom and I and it's very Illuminating it's it's once a month that you have really should go in so you can look at the bills it's you've done for quite a while and um while and you know just in thought go to somebody else has time available to do that as well um you have four more years right now so it's not like we're got to switch it now this year but at some point in time you that that training that learning curve could be handed off but yeah available is anybody else interested Ian I I can do it what's the is there a time window generally on the days of the board meetings um Cheryl has come in um or sometimes within a day or during the day or a day or two before generally once the board agenda is posted y then it's all ready ready y so kind of two days I make motion we appoint Cheryl again she you're not going to be here um next up assignment of committees okay so I will pull up the Committees um and we'll do a quick look um so some of these um just to kind of walk through will automatically naturally change because as the as the chair um Rachel will sit on some of those committees so we'll walk through that um the first one is the Minnesota State High School leite um had to pull up my cheaters so we have um one member needed and we have director Magus and director Pearson who have expressed interest um so of the two of you we need one and an alternate possibly not a lot of responsibility with the State High School Le um not a lot of responsibility I don't have a lot of strong preference on any of these so I mean yeah you're the new we'll put you on Plenty no I think go ahead and um like Janelle mentioned I was on it for three or four years my first term never we never had meeting or I think there was one time when Rick was on it that there was something that came down to him so in the six years I've been here there been once where there's something that's going on um but but it is nice so like School Board Association I attend to as high school need stuff just to kind of familiarize myself with that but um it's an interest SCH Court okay okay um you got that one Miranda okay um saf schools advocating for fair funding so that's one of our um legislative uh represent I guess representations um through that organization um we that board member and I have traditionally tried to go down to the capital together um and they do hold their meetings a proximately four times per year there is a virtual option um there's an opportunity for networking with other board other board members of the saff organization in addition to traditionally legislators um and the Department of Education I'll try to you get that at that meeting so um Thomas has been on that in the past um and he's express interest there's interest there we'll move on I think you should stay that's one of those positions some of the positions I don't think you should change all the time because you have you have to get used to the process and that one takes some time and know some background y okay uh Sterns County FL Family Services collaborative uh so we have one in an alternate uh Rachel has been the primary uh Rachel as the chair is that something you want to maintain or would you like to pass that off to okay and then he can be the alternative need me yeah that's what I was thinking I saw no one else I can just be the backup okay and we generally meet twice a year and it's usually via Zoom so uh legislative liaison that traditionally has landed with the staff um the staff representative Tas is that something you're interested in continuing y West Central education District Gerald has been on that for a couple of years um I see Gerald has interest and nobody else have expressed interest is there anyone else that has strong feelings otherwise I think Gerald has done a nice job I think that's another one that doesn't work to stay with it for a while to get the that process uh continuing education uh so we that meet meeting meets four times per year um Rachel has been on that in the past um Cheryl has interest as well what would the two of you like to do um I guess I was just thinking about reconnecting with the teachers I okay yeah it's okay yeah okay yeah you're gonna be put on a lot of stuff right oh y I'm fin said okay uh the community advisory committee uh we meet four times per year she was included was an added bonus um uh so uh we need one representative we've had um in the past it was um Thomas with um Rachel as a backup um Jacob I see you're interested in that one as well how would the three of you like to work through that I can step off on that one and I can be an alternative if how how I don't know what your your schedule's like what's your availability because those are our lunch meetings um um especially if it's only four times a year it should be too bad I mean yeah it should be able to do those yeah and I can be your alternative make that that meeting all right it's good that you guys point that out to them because yeah like our meetings you know are usually in the evening but unfortunately they are s and we offer a virtual option that gives you some flexibility yeah on the next side my job is pretty flexible so I can usually handle those okay so the world's best Workforce which will have a title change starting next year um we it's it says that it's we've meet we meet three times I'm sorry two times a year it's kind of come down to about one formal meeting um but it's also um become the um uh in conjunction with the district advisory committee um and that has uh three members and we've had um I gotta look for a second here um yeah we'll change the title of that world's best Workforce to the district advisory committee because those served the Dual Purpose um and we've had Gerald Ron and Bruce Bru on that so if anyone else has interest otherwise that the same committee as the district advisory committee so it is actually going to be more than twice a year it'll increase to I think we have it scheduled three or four times per year so if that changes anything for you guys need to make a not of that all right in negotiations um so Rachel will sit on each of the negotiations committees um so we'll walk through for teachers um there will be um we need three total so we'll have Rachel um so we have Rachel Jacob Ron and Cheryl who have expressed interest so I'll let you guys work through that process so there's one too many what you're saying yes I I can step down uh PA professionals also three board members so we'll have uh Rachel and we have um Gerald Ron and uh Jacob who have interest so of those four we need three three only question with yeah un pair of professionals is there it's a professional I can step down but she is part of the um support staff I will step down and that doesn't close a cup for me um I think there's far enough removal okay double check y okay uh Food Service custodians we also need three so we have four interested um Rachel will be on which will be one so we'll have we actually need two to step down so we have Pearson sper Vanderpool and belt Camp I have um Miranda are you getting these two yeah okay okay um and then taking a look we've got um administrators so we'll have um Rachel Pearson and Bel Camp uh expressed interest and so we can keep those three Transportation uh transportation is um it's typically been on even years uh however um I did have a three-year contract so it's it was a little bit of an odd odd season um so Rachel will be on that one and then we'll have um so Bruce Ron and I can step up with that with all of them I've been on a number of times so in looking at that then Bruce wouldn't be on any negotiations uh we have we well I can St we hav listed in Food Service Le Miranda got missing food oh does Miranda have them on there I'm sorry I about I check Coss off the wrong box I'm sorry thank you um he's doing it okay no but I was coming off of food service right I can step up then you we wouldn't have you on any negotiations okay and I'm on three okay huge one of my thre administrators and usually it's because me usually at the end the end a big deal three them on but stay on Transportation whatever you want that works anything so did I I'm sorry did you get it figured out yeah okay so if we're just going to do a quick review as everybody on at least one negotiations committee yeah I think so Miranda yes okay yep all right meeting confirm uh that meets two to three two to four times a year depending on me we have one representative and that's been Cheryl we just redid that um this last year and I I kind like stay on it I like the way it's coming and it's working out well if that that if that's okay with everybody else uh staff development committee districtwide staff development about four times a year um it was revised to two Representatives last year so we have Thomas and uh Gerald expressed interest so looks good districtwide technology also revise to two Representatives uh about four times a year so we've got uh Jacob uh Jacob Thomas and Rachel who have expressed interest um so who would like to represent I can step by anybody else find myself and a lot of committees and meetings here right now so I mean anybody else would like to I know even put put the interest in there initially but and generally in there I mean we meet and prepare for staff development date I mean go through agendas and trying to explain what we do techology no the district wide yeah no so this is District WISE Technology I was talking about the other ones forget it sorry so Rachel you're stepping down from that one yes okay if there's anybody else that's not meeting as much meetings that would like to take that I would you're good yeah okay uh policy committee um traditionally the chair I believe has served on that committee um so we have we have uh Rachel um Gerald Thomas and Cheryl who have expressed interest and we have three members on that and I can step down from that I could back off from that one too I'm on quite a few already okay then I'll stay on it okay that's good for me for the policy committee yeah somebody else can take that as well I do you want to step down have Sherl state or or take yeah yeah I'm I'm going to for go meeting on any more committees at this point in time so somebody take it my work schedule will not allow for this many meetings Jacob I'm already going be stretched do you want to do a show if not Jacob would you like to have that it's it's actually fairly easy yeah I say easy there's times it can get a little H depend on what what changes bandat come down but get a little complicated but not much yeah if any another person I can yeah hey weald okay all right facilities uh we have three board members on facilities so we've got um Jacob uh Thomas Ron and Bruce and Cheryl who have expressed interest so we're looking at three I'll take myself off I can Ste on to okay we've got three right and climate wellness and health and safety so you're going to see that this is um combining a couple of different things um in the years past we had a we had a wellness committee that was part of our um Insurance um it was a benefit of of Blue Cross Blue Shield and that required um an oversight committee um we also have in regards to health and safety through our resource training and solutions so there's some components that have to come back together so this is merging all of those pieces together so um you'll see we're looking for one and an alternate and there will be three to four meetings per year and again I'll Pi myself off okay um between Gerald and Cheryl one of you would prefer to be the primary and then the alternate doesn't matter yeah I'll be altered it you sure yeah that be fine all right thank you Miranda for keeping that organized I you need a motion okay is there a motion I make a motion to commit assignment says published second all in favor motion passes schedule regular school board meetings um current practice of the meeting twice per month starting at six o'clock um unless otherwise noted is there any changes preferences so I'm going to just uh cast up the the calendar and the the proposed uh list couple of things that I want to call out for you to consider um so March 10th um is a different date that's a Monday because Township electioned will be March 11th and we can't hold a board meeting on Township election days you'll also notice um May 13th is the 1:30 meeting so it's the middle of the school day in order for presentations to take place you'll also see a consideration in July so July and December we've traditionally held one board meeting um July 8th would be the the second Tuesday which would have been a work session um I wonder if the board would like to consider moving it to just the middle of the month so it's not such a big gap between the first and the um the following month so then July 15 would be the date August 11th um the 12th is a primary election day so you'll notice the um Tuesday needs to move to the Monday taking a look at uh November so it's a 1:30 meeting for the student representatives in the during the school day but it's also moved to Monday because November 11th is Veterans Day so that's also prohibited date and then you'll see December I have consider December 16th which would be again splitting the month versus is meeting right at the beginning of the month so those would be the only other considerations um the other thing I would recommend the board considers as adding a statement um we've only once come into I think a question of whether or not uh we should hold the meeting or not um but I I've done some um just looking at other board agendas and many agendas will have a statement of in in the event of inclement weather if the meeting is canceled the board meeting would be held the next day at the same place and time so if that's something the board would like to be proactive about um I would recommend making a statement on each agenda that says um meeting will be held at the same time the following business day so those are some of the um considerations that are presented for you today the only question I would have is that December meeting I don't if you want to keep that up um just every the December meeting is it too much of a rush to go is it too much for you guys to handle to go from that just November 25th to December 9th my feelings just closer we push it to the holidays the crazier everybody his lives are to you know but maybe I'm just do that a little bit they sure only had one meeting in we still kept the second Tuesday did we well we had ta tax at the same time yep and this would still mean whether you did it on the 9th or the 16th the truth and Taxation would be fine that just has to be by the end of December correct I'd stay with the ninth agree yeah unless it's a push on the opposite off I mean because no sense in stress in the office not holidays either yeah no it's it it doesn't matter to me it's just if there's how much time there is between the December 9th meeting and then the next January business meeting which is at the end of the month in January that's the only there gets to be a long length of time but it's it's Rachel can always call a special meeting if I won't do that I probably make promises you can't keep well I that one yeah that that was my only question um September 9th the second Tuesday's night just it's not yes that next week is usually crazy for everybody I mean for me okay I it's the will of the board so whatever you would like to fine that's everybody else thoughts do I think so that word in or I think that's a really good idea actually in climate weather yeah so but we can just make a motion to accept that except for December except maintain December 9th yeah and to add the verage in verage so if you adopt it as presented because that's what it said on the bottom of it so you could incorporate it got a motion needs to make the motion do we decide on July are we going to push that one to the middle of the month I'm okay with that one seconds away from the holiday again like yeah I that July 15 it correct um thank I'll make a motion to introduce uh hold four meetings two times per month unless noted um as presented in our schedule uh utilizing July 15th um as the consideration option and not July 8th and then utilizing December 9th not December 16th uh at 6: p.m in the Paynesville Secondary School board5 wow you can just say second second Bruce all in favor I I motion passes um establish compensation for board members um I don't know that I have any desire to adjust the conversation anybody else have strong considerations to make adjustments to that think so so I make a motion that we uh accept the compensation uh as published for for board members Gerald second second all in favor motion passes um School District legal councel and authorized contact so this is um an annual resolution that authorizes imployment of legal council as needed resolution ver I'll make a motion to introduce resolution authorizing employment legal council um as presented I'm going to see all I second and then we have to first hi Cher I BR I Rachel I Thomas hi Gerald I Jacob I motion passes um so the the agreement that's um in front of you today is an agreement that um is new we've not had this in the past but we do have agreements with the city of Paynesville to share to use property and this is a request to make sure that we just have insurance coverage um if we are using their property um and and it's uh so that we don't have to have our own in individual policy so this is recommend or requested by the city so you'll see an agreement for um the Paynesville area school districts and the City of Paynesville to share property so move second second by Cheryl all in favor I and Fa a motion to adour make a motion to adjuren I'll second all in favor I
