This is just we're aware that this is something that's going on around us and so we wanted to be proactive and get our regulations out there. So this is to add regulations um for data centers avoiding 8 00:02:20.319 --> 00:02:36.640 looking to avoid environmental and public health impacts obviously uh create some workforce development regulations mandate local hiring etc. Some of the highlights Um, the third one is an ordinance 9 00:02:36.640 --> 00:02:53.519 adopting the amended home ownership small lot development plan dated April 16th from the most recent planning board meeting. And this is one that you sent to the planning board last month. And then the final ordinance is amending 10 00:02:53.519 --> 00:03:08.959 the code that is entitled filming. Uh basically what we're looking to do is be compliant with the state film ready guidelines. But data centers create a delterious impact on communities wherever they are. And that creates problems especially in communities that are water for stress. And so this administration by putting this ordinance on is not in 17 00:05:02.160 --> 00:05:19.919 any way suggesting that we support data centers. Another issue is that data centers result in the average utility bill being increased from anywhere from 19 to 39%. 18 00:05:19.919 --> 00:05:38.000 Which is a problem. Data centers also create negative environmental impacts, noise, pollution from the big industrial fans and from the Hback systems. And so we want to make it very clear that if 19 00:05:38.000 --> 00:05:52.800 this governing body or any future governing body and planning board decide to allow a data center to be constructed in this city that their guard rails by which the communities are protected and 20 00:05:52.800 --> 00:06:09.680 data centers would know what they're obligated to comply with. >> [clears throat] >> So my administration is not pro or against data centers. Um they cause so many harmful environmental effects including increased risk of asthma and just so many things that we would have to deal with in the city. Um I think my question is is there a way to to ban data centers? And I think this question may be for Mr. Michello um as the attorney, right? And if it is, we have to have it because it's light industrial use, then I think I am okay with this ordinance. So, what are these classrooms going to do? Sit empty? If you have more classrooms and you have more seats, you're going to need more butts to put in those seats, right? I don't want to see them there, but do they need to improve the buildings? Absolutely. No child should be being educated in some of these buildings that we allow charter schools to occupy. And I know at one point Queen City had people in classrooms where there wasn't even any windows.
