##VIDEO ID:X9oaC6Ti-oU## e e e e e e e e e all right good evening like to call the January 27 2025 P school committee meeting to order please rise if you're able for the Pledge of Allegiance I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible liy and justice for all all right Mr Jackson if you'll read Our Land acknowledgement we acknowledge that we are meeting on the unseated ancestral homeland of the indigenous people whose enduring presence we humbly recognize we honor the Wampanoag people as the original stewards of the Herring Pond Wampanoag as the surviving indigenous tribes of these lands in our commitment to lifelong long learning we acknowledge historical injustices to the native people of this land and vow to educate ourselves our community and our students on the first peoples and the hardships they endured we offer this as a small but essential step towards building a culture of respect truth and accountability thank you all right as our first uh order of bus business I will turn the meeting over to our superintendent for our reorg organization superintend will explain the reorganization process and call for nominations for school committee chair thank you good evening everyone um so this is usually done in the spring but with Miss Badger um now state representative and new members on the school committee uh we take this opportunity to do a reorganization of uh the board um officer position so I'm just going to read the process and then we'll begin so um at the first as the first item of business as Mr uh Pano said the chair would turn the meeting over to the superintendent superintendent will explain the process so that a nomination will be given uh for the school committee chair um that individual can accept or decline that and we'll ask if there's any additional nominations after the first nomination if there are each individual would have an opportunity to give a one minute statement as to why they would like to be the chair will then take a vote uh once that's determined the chair will take over um the process and do Vice chair and the school committee secretary positions as well okay um so with that is there any nomination for um chair from the board Miss Jackson I nominate Luis Pisano for chair I accept thank you any other nominations okay Miss Jackson all right so we'll just do um all those in favor of Mr Bano as the next chair please just show up hands unanimous congratulations Mr Bano thank you turn it back to you all right all right uh I will now take nominations for vice chair of the school committee I'll nominate uh Miss Jackson do you accept I do sorry any other nominations for vice chair all right all those in favor of M Jackson as Vice chair and that vote is unanimous congratulations M Jackson and finally we'll take nominations for uh Secretary of the school committee M Jackson I'd like to nominate Robert Morgan for Secretary of the school committee Mr Morgan you accept yes any other nominations no all in favor of Mr Morgan as secretary it is unanimous congratulations all righty all right well now that we are reorganized we'll move on to our first order business first up our comments under comments in the general public uh Indian brick Elementary School community service project yes very excited to um have some members of Indian Brook Community here to help us too so we love it good evening thank you for having us I'm Amic man Freddy uh principal of Indian Brook and this is Angela Costa our PTA president our fabulous PTA president and I'm going to turn it over to her so she can explain why we're here yes so we hosted a holiday event in December at our school and um yearly we collect donations for the Southshore Community Action Council and this year um troop 84 535 I hope I got that right um had asked if they could participate and assist in raising money for sscac so the girls had made and donated bracelets that people were able to purchase they raised close to $150 um for the Southshore Community Action Council that wasn't enough for them so they turned around and partnered with our PTA and some of the girls went to the store with our PTA and went shopping and bought food for children at our school um I think it was another $200 worth so we are here because we wanted to acknowledge and recognize especially around the holidays where a lot of people are in need um their selfish selflessness um and their um amazing hearts that they have um so we have a couple things that we wanted to gift them while we were here but you wanted to First explain well we have a slide we have a slide that's all I was pointing um we together s Community Action Council you know everyone knows there are are one of our local food pantries but weekly we have volunteers that go to Southshore Community Action Council to get food for our um food for kids backpack program so Their donation to Southshore Community Action Council also directly benefited not only Indian Brook cuz some of the Girl Scouts are from different schools and a lot of the schools use Community Action Council and um so Their donation benefited many of the schools in Plymouth so we just want to acknowledge that so we're going to have the girls come up we have um the pins and then at Indian Brook we give out swim Awards um and swim stands for uh I had to quiz myself on this stay safe work hard include all and make Positive Choices which obviously this falls into a lot of those categories but um we have certificates for all of them for their community service benefiting soci Community Action Council and Indian Brook food for kids program and the pins that we are giving them they're actually each going to get two so we don't have Girl Scout pins but what we do have is I found these um flower pins that say thank you bunches so the girls are going to get two they're going to keep one from PTA and then they're going to gift one to someone in their life that helped them become the amazing girls that they are are I love it so I am just going to call I'm stand up if that's okay if you can't hear me let me know I'm going to call up the girls to come get their pin and their certificate not everyone's here tonight I will read off everyone's names and if you're here you can come on up so we have Madison Cushing Leila Gary which I don't think Ila's here Juliet napalitano not here sorry if I say the names wrong Eevee rice Felder I know is here gaan Waldren not here I don't students come home with over 30 medals and trophies and lastly we hosted the next February vacation so February of 2026 uh we kind of customized this trip to make sure that the students would be getting uh the most out of their opportunities in in Europe um thinking about history and art and culture and food of course um and really wanting to make sure that that they walk away with an experience that they would never forget we have organized um a few trips in the past we went to three inaugurations we took students um to Europe last year and it was an incredible experience the the opportunities that the students get when they are able to leave Plymouth and see the world from um different perspectives is is super important and something I think we all want for our students yeah we are really excited we were able to really match this this trip is actually longer than our Italy trip from um really two years ago or last year but that we were able to match costs we were able to play a few companies off each other and actually get a competitive bid and lower the price that either company had originally offered for this trip um so students will be paying really less than we did for our Italy trip we also offer a lot of different fundraisers we have done so many trips from Washington to New York to Italy and no student at pulma South has ever been denied attending one of our trips if if they're they're struggling they the school comes up with payment plans sometimes the companies chip in if we say that we have a student in need we make sure that students can uh afford it there's the breakdown is is by the month so that they really you know no one has ever been denied because of how we do it we also have fundraisers multiple fundraisers we already are looking at a Bavarian pretzel uh fundraiser just because it is related to our trip destination like we did a canoli fundraiser for Italy but students really they have they're they're empowered they get it's not the the fundraising money is not divided among everyone everyone that works like the more you work on your fundraiser the more it goes directly to your account so we have students that made significant strides and cutting their costs down last time so um we have a lot long time before they have to pay the trip off for example so we will we anticipate a spring fundraiser and we were talking about summer and fall fundraisers so that we really do have time for students uh like Miss shaver said we really have worked on adding additional things that were not originally provided to make it the most educational possible we have everything from a Freud Museum to seeing Mozart's birthplace to actually getting to take part in a mosart concert um listen to it at least and and we've added and of course a concentration camp in Germany so so many educational things that are we think will be life-changing for students um but also celebrating the countries the four countries that we will be uh visiting during about 9 10 day trip yeah any questions from the board Mr I'm not going to be I'm not going to repeat everything I said at the last uh field trip U that has this high price tag so let me ask you this question uh how do you uh attract students to this trip so this will be um promoted to current sophomores and juniors so next year they'll be the Juniors and seniors at Plymouth South um and we will simply push it out through advisory just to get an interest who who's interested um Eric and I had talked about holding a meeting after school for students who are interested and then obviously a parent meeting before they sign up so they have an opportunity to ask questions as well um when we I mean we last year when we did our Italy trip um we had a a large variety of students who ended up signing up for the trip and that made it that much more interesting I think for us it wasn't just one click of friends it was it was a very large variety of students and that um just makes it fun and everybody brings something different to the table yeah it's it's open so it'll be open to all Juniors and seniors uh beginning that that will be Juniors and seniors next year and we uh anticipate um we don't know how many people but we we anticipate a size of 30 to 40 is our likely size uh and again last year in Italy we did have students not only that had never been abroad but we had several a couple students who never been on an airplane so it is really a life-changing experience for some students who haven't got to travel and see cultures and try different foods um so we're really excited sort of a a related question so when you make the announcement to the trip and the students here that it's $3,600 uh do they learn right away not to be afraid of the price yeah we do we we you know we do mention that right away to the student the first time there's a student meeting right after school so Within in a couple weeks uh they hear that price we talk about fundraising we talk about how it has broken down off into a $250 $300 type uh fee a month if they would like to pay that way there's no uh additional payment no no penalty from the company when they do that so we try to make it reasonable and then we do discuss that you know if this is really meaningful to you and important but you can't afford it please talk to us privately and we always make sure that there's a way that we can figure things out that those conversations actually take place this did not happen when we went to Italy but it has happened on allur our inauguration trips when we take students to New York obviously those prices are very different um but student I mean Eric and I both Foster good relationships with our students and I think they are definitely comfortable coming and talking to us if they need some financial support for sure one one more question on the Italy trip nobody came to you asking for help no we had we had enough fundraisers and students were able to make you know money and and everyone was able to to pay for the trip yeah thank you you're welcome anyone else have questions I had one following up on Dr Sorenson's so like Dr senson I'm not a fan of the total price tag but I do much much appreciate that you guys were considering multiple companies and actually trying to actively make it a more competitive situation which certainly helps um on the fundraising front um how much did you raise um collectively for the it Elite trip um over probably close to $3500 to $44,000 I don't know right off we we sold over um we made profit of over $2,000 just in the canoli alone that we sold um and that that kind of surprised me I was like um we also did a popcorn fundraiser that was not what the athletic teams do but it's called double good um it's it's a much more reasonably priced popcorn um fundraiser and um students were if they participated they they made you know a few hundred doar um in that as well not everyone chose to participate but parents you knew that this was an opportunity and those who who wanted to cut the price were able to do so all right so on average price D I'll get say a few hundreds off yeah may have followup please M schaer was there or was there a u can you think of any students that got a scholarship to go on the trip uh for our inauguration trip if the company did we when we talked about a couple students that were interested um the the company did kind of after our calls and knowing that we worked with them before and again this is another company that we have this is the same company we worked with in Italy the the company did provide a scholarship um so I remember that the price of one whole ticket it was it was not quite but it was a it was a it was a good chunk for a student that was in need Plymouth South did fund a a ticket for a student to attend the inauguration who really want wanted to go um I mean this was 12 years ago um and the price was I maybe $7 or $800 to go to DC you have to go back 12 years to come up with a story of student getting a scholarship yeah wow yeah thank you right you have any other questions we have a motion Mr Morgan uh I'll make a motion to approve the field trip as presented do you have a second M Jackson seconds all right are we are we V are we online oh yeah waiting if there are any questions on okay oh yeah any questions on the motion or additional discussion no all right we take a vote I'm not coming up yeah never mind perhaps because I didn't give me a second please right there okay thank you there it is all right we have four in favor one opposed motion passes great thank you so much all right next up we have uh Phil trip request from P Plymouth North for Cooperstown New York good evening everybody uh thank you for having us I'm Justin Domingos the athletic director at Plymouth North joined tonight by our head varsity baseball coach Dwayne fet and our request is for our varsity baseball team to travel to coopertown New York over April vacation to play zarian high school at double day field in coopertown um they'll be leaving on Friday morning the game is on that Friday night uh 4:25 at 5:00 pm at double day they'll be staying the night in Cooper toown uh the next morning touring the Baseball Hall of Fame and then traveling back to Plymouth in the afternoon uh the funds for the trip will be uh fundraised both through funds in the team's booster account currently as well as a uh a spring fundraiser they're going to run uh in a few start start to run in a few weeks and the cost to the students after the fundraiser will be zero dollars perfect do you have any questions for Mr domingus or Mr fet I'll make a motion that we approve the trip all right we have a motion we have a second Miss Miss Haywood all right we have a second any questions on the motion or additional questions all right vote all right motion passes unanimous congratulations thank you very much night enjy all right one second me get back to the agenda all right next up we have a update from our um Ed TV from uh Mr Brian bur Al righty thank you for having me here tonight uh my name is Brian burn I'm the director of EDTV um and uh I'd like to uh kind of review some of our program but more I want to focus on what's been uh new and exciting since last year I know um a lot of you have an idea of kind of what our programs do but I want to kind of review some of the new and exciting things that our students get to participate in um and that that's happening throughout the district um so the first thing I want to start with and I know many of you were there opening day um to kind of showcase this this idea of being present and how that's really important in our district that uh Dr Campbell shared in his opening day um message and uh we worked with Dr Campbell over the summer to kind of create this video that kind of Encompass what Plymouth Public Schools is and The Importance of Being presid in schools but also in many different forms so first I just want to kick it off with with this video at the Plymouth Public Schools you can be anything you can be a thinker a dreamer a leader be a poet a problem solver a pioneer be an ogre be a part of the show or the one who made it happen Be A Champion for your team for your peers for yourself be an entrepreneur an Exemplar an advocate be a teacher be a learner be you but above all else be present and together we can help you be the rest [Music] [Music] this is such a incredible um presentation of what Plymouth Public Schools has to offer it's an amazing public school system that we have here and EDTV is is very fortunate to be able to Showcase these things and showcase all the programs that we have um and all the opportunities for students because because that's what we're here for at the end of the day is providing these opportunities to the students so just wanted to kick off our our uh presentation with that um jumping into um oh skip one slide jumping into our program so um starting our programs uh span all grade levels um in Plymouth Public Schools and some are in the form of clubs some are in the forms of um uh curriculum classes um we kind of capture everything and so starting at the elementary school this is a um before school club um that happens at all eight of our elementary schools um we have two amazing teachers um Jen mulany and Abby Sor who kind of lead this program and and have done incredible things giving kids the opportunity to do news broadcasts um at the elementary level um just a quick note on the right here this photo um on the right was an maing project that we did this year um where uh Jen actually reached out to um some veteran organizations and this is our Nathaniel Morton news team and they were able to uh bring these um three veterans in and they interviewed them got to know them and really got to hear what their story was um which was just an incredible experience to kind of see that intergenerational storytelling um and again we have fifth graders um asking all those questions and filming it and and doing all those aspects um along the way so they're they're learning in that process but also just engaging and hearing the stories of um of uh of our community here um another big piece is um um roughly about monthly we release an EDTV kids show which is a combination of stories through all eight of our elementary schools um and each episode has kind of a unique thing to it so last year we did uh principal's corner where a student would interview the principal and kind of hear about um what's happening in the school and also what makes their school special this year we mixed it up a little bit and went into a teacher inspiration so a student of the news team is picked and they pick a teacher that is inspired them and then they actually have a sit down conversation and they we film the whole thing and basically that students able to share you know what they have meant to them and also what has inspired them and what makes them such a great teacher so that's been an amazing project that um that Jen and Abby have been uh have been champing throughout this year um we're on to I believe our fourth episode of EDTV kids um so that's been an amazing project um moving to the Middle School level um the Middle School level is taught uh by Abby sores who who's in uh the center of that picture on the left um and then with support along with uh Jonah Perlo who is new to our team this year um so those video production clubs happen both at South uh middle and pcis um and uh we also have a lot of uh live broadcast opportunity so um we like our students to realize that you know being in the video world it's not necessarily always being on camera there are so many other opportunities that they can get into um whether that's live production film or you know television behind the camera um so that's really important that we show them all of those opportunities so live bro broadcasting has become a big piece that um that our students really love um for example we uh uh a group of about eight students at South Middle this year um live streamed and did uh there was probably about five cameras of the uh Veterans Day ceremony that we streamed live to to YouTube um which is awesome because it's just a win-win CU it also gives our community the ability to watch these things live that they might not be able to get into the school and watch something like this but they're still able to tune in and see that another big project that happened this year was the uh the horror Fest which is the image on the right here um this was kind of inspired uh South high does a similar thing every year where they have a uh horror film festival um and uh you know we we saw that they had a lot of success with it and a lot of the middle school kids are looking for those film opportunities too so this was a piece that that um that again Abby Champion to to get our students involved um and we hosted a little event at North High to kind of showcase all of those films um and give out some awards and just let students see each other's films which I think is a huge piece of it that we always like to stress is that like it it's not necessarily like just creating your own but also getting that feedback seeing someone else's creative eye because that is what will inspire you in your in your work moving forward so um so yeah that that was an amazing project that happened this here as well moving oops moving right along to the high school level um again both of our uh high school programs pnn at North High and panther TV at South High have had incredible success um they had again a combined four Emmy nominations this year um and what's interesting about these nominations as well it kind of shows the uh their ability in all types of production so pnn had a their entire live show which um every may they do a live show from throughout the entire school so last year we even had a student broadcasting from uh from outside the school to a student that's broadcasting in the courtyard um and and it's all done uh by by students um teachers are you know overseeing it but by that point in the in the process of the year they're doing it all on their own which is incredible to see and it's very rewarding from a teacher perspective to see how much knowledge they've gained through throughout the year so um so pnn uh got that live show and sports story and then Panther TV uh won a magazine program and serious news um and the magazine program is essentially that pre-produced show so that show where you're creating stories putting it all together so kind of shows pretty amazing that Plymouth won two of the the top Awards um there um another uh piece that we introduced um a number of years ago is the intro to broadcasting and television which is uh class follow uh by Evan MCM who's our high school um specialist and really he does an amazing job to kind of again bring those live broadcasting opportunities to students and let them be able to see themselves in those um in that as a career path in general it's it's amazing um the last piece was a new um uh a new event that we did this year where um nspa which uh which is basically a uh a New England um uh organization that uh hosts a lot of like broadcast journalism type events um they held an event up at Emerson College where the students came up and uh this was like on a Saturday so we did we they went up there with uh Evan and then they are tasked with a job to make a new story um in about four hours so then these students are going out creating stories and what's truly amazing about that that I think is my favorite part about the project is that it was actually you can see in the the top right this is a combination of North and high nor North High and South High students so they were kind of paired with each other and it was like all right go make a new story but they took those Concepts that they're learning at each of the high schools and and were able to create some amazing Stories and they won two silver medals while um at that uh uh at that event um moving on to just kind of some of our communication pieces um uh again the numbers of followers continues to rise um year-over-year so those are just some of our updated numbers from uh Libby Hurley who's our Communications and media specialist um a big piece is that the mobile app is now um live as well with our um with apog who's our new website company so um that's an amazing thing and just a a reminder if um if the app does not appear to be working you may still have the old app so you just want to make sure you delete that one um and it should be the only app that is on the App Store if you're looking there um again just another way that we can communicate with parents communicate um with uh the community and so forth um some of the uh Productions obviously we host uh school committee um EDTV update is a program we continue to run which is hosted by anywhere from elementary through high school students um and it's a monthly uh about five minute video that we just talk about what happened in the district so we kind of cover all schools um different events that are happening and so forth uh um and then wrapping up with Hometown voices that uh partnering with Dr Campbell we've done um three episodes this year I believe um three episodes this year and uh we we're already looking onto our next one um and it's it's a wonderful way that uh one Dr tamell can kind of get feedback from students and also faculty we have faculty um as part of it a lot uh and also it just another way to again communicate some of the things that are happening our most recent episode we did was on the children's business fair so we had um a student who had has had a successful business and actually continues to do it um and then we had a mentor over at South High um and a local business owner and then someone also part uh stepen Cole who's part of the Plymouth Foundation who has been a huge partner in the business um the children's business fair so again just an amazing program that continues to just Foster those conversations and and things like that um just going to quickly highlight some of the uh cool things that have been happening um that we've been had the privilege of covering over the last uh year or so um back in the spring we covered um we hosted a e live Ela webinar which um was a rather extensive project um it it started planning way back in the fall where uh we actually got into classrooms and filmed the different lessons and and so forth and throughout that webinar it was happening live but we also cut to these prepackaged pieces um and it was just amazing success we were able to get a lot of um a lot of different uh stakeholders into the same room to talk about this why um plymouth's moving in this direction and so forth so that was uh a a huge project that EDTV worked on last year um as I'm sure you've heard through uh some of the other presentations the South High TV studio got a complete remodel over $200,000 that was invested into that TV studio so um EDTV has been kind of a partner throughout that and providing the uh the training pieces um but also um kind of advising as well in terms of where the future video is going video is going much more internet based obviously versus the the cable companies so we're kind of uh making sure we're guiding them in the right direction and then showing them you know this is how you use these pieces and so forth so that was a a huge project that that happened um throughout the summer and um and we been seeing some amazing results of some of the pieces that these students are now able to create with this updated um equipment um starting in the fall this year we uh we did a interesting project with the engineering um uh program at North High where we actually live streamed their uh engineering capstones um what made this so unique was we live streaming to YouTube and so then they had advisers on the other end they were able to watch that these presentations and provide live feedback via the chat so that basically if if there was an adviser for something very specific I'll use drone technology or something like that these advisers who may not be able to come to Plymouth could still tune in and provide that feedback um to the students that that were're presenting um so that was a kind of a unique project that um it was about a two-day um event almost like two three to four hour live streams that um was kind of a unique project that that provided a lot of feedback to students um throughout their uh engineering development um looking back into the fall the the Battle of rock the north vs South um football game I don't know if you can think back to the weather on Thanksgiving but I had to include this just to give a shout out to all of our students um and our faculty who participated in this broadcast it was one of the worst weather uh related events that I've ever participated in in terms of trying to film something live but uh we again are always trying to up the Annie and we we actually had sideline reporters so these are two North High um students in the top right that uh that actually broadcast uh live from the sideline endured the the pouring rain um so that was kind of a a a very um challenging event that we did but um again we're always trying to push the push the boundaries and we had middle school students there helping film it was it was a it it spanned the the whole gamut in terms of everyone that was that participated in that so that was an amazing broadcast moving forward the uh the budget uh series that um is still in in its uh release phase um but uh that this is a six-part series um and really the the goal of this is to help the public realize what goes into building a budget and what what the challenges are that we face so this is a project that we worked on with uh Dr Campell and Dr blazel to um to kind of help inform the public about what goes into building a budget and and um all the the challenges that we Face through that so hopefully um if there are any questions that's a good place to start this is also hosted all on the uh Plymouth Public Schools um business administrator page as well so feel free to check out that and kind of get a take a deeper dive into the budget the last one I'll I'll touch on is the BPR campaign um and this has been a uh a really interesting series that we've been working on this year to kind of address some of the the absentee problems that that we face um and so this this series is uh kind of spanning a lot of different um highlighting a lot of different areas uh whether it's like sports or you know student Support Services all things that Plymouth offers to kind of help deliver messages that will um hit with different audiences so um the most uh recent one that we just did um is going to be released probably in about the next month and that's all related to like Nurse Services and things like that so um it's an amazing campaign uh if you haven't seen it it started with uh uh Mr peas who's a teacher over at Federal furnace um there's an amazing little piece just kind of explaining why even kindergarten is so important to attend um and then it moved on to a video that we created at hedge that uh addresses the elll population and um and actually half uh we we were able to transcribe that into Portuguese and then we also the back half of it is actually in all Portuguese um as we worked with one of the um uh a a staff member over at hedge who was able to express that and we're hoping that that again will connect with that population and deliver that important message the uh last event that I'd like to touch on here is the EDTV student film festival so this is uh some photos from last year's student film festival um and uh which was an incredible success we had it uh outdoors in three separate tents the weather what cooperated um but some exciting news this year we're we're moving into uh the hotel 1620 so we partnered with them this year and we'll be hosting our Film Festival on April 2nd um I'll definitely share more details once we get closer to that um but this has been uh the the film festival information has been out there and uh we already know students are creating these films and last year we had roughly about 100 students participate in that um with the winning film actually being screened at the Boston Film Festival up at at Emerson College which was uh an amazing partnership that we made with them um uh and at the actual I went to the screening and it was amazing to see um there was an actor that was kind of running the show and um he gave an incredible shout out to Kendra Hayes who was uh the she she's a North High Senior right now um and she got a standing ovation for her film it was just an amazing um opportunity for her to have her film showcased at a very um prestigious place but also procedure event um quickly I won't run through all of these but these are uh some of the many different Productions that we cover anything from you know live broadcasts curriculum based videos uh Sports all sorts of different things these are kind of broad categories that cover the many different things that we capture or our students um also capture um quickly the numbers um this is the last five years here um so we're looking uh although this number we're about to hit the halfway point but um this number is a little bit lower but also you'll see in my next slide really there's so many more videos in the springtime because uh for a couple reasons one students are getting more comfortable and they're able to create content quicker um but also there's just so many more requests as you can see on the back half of that last year in April we had 180 video requests in in the month of uh month of April looks like so so those numbers definitely escalate um in the in the springtime so we definitely forecast um having very similar numbers to last year um the chart on the right is a breakdown of this year's videos just kind of where they break into um as you can see they're uh rather rather even minus the uh EDTV kids just because again we have so many students participating in that program I think this year we have roughly 140 students participating in that program throughout the eight elementary schools so um so again once they uh learn the logistics of filming and editing um those stories really start uh uh coming out really quickly um and then I just want to save this slide for last just to to uh introduce and also just you know show some similar faces that uh that have been part of the team so um again uh Evans are uh High School specialist uh Jen mulany is our elementary Libby is our media and communication specialist uh Seth our video production specialist who also runs your school committee events who's downstairs right now um Abby sores who runs middle school but also uh helps out with Elementary and then uh Jonah is new to our team this year um and he uh runs that middle school program with Abby and then he also kind of uh goes throughout the um throughout the levels so um it's it's a true team effort I I'm extremely lucky to have all these people uh um as part of my team Team every every year they they're the ones that make these videos happen but also make these opportunities happen for the students and none of it could be couldn't be done without them so I I really give them all the credit for for everything that they do um and that's about it any questions excellent pres presentation Miss Jackson I just wanted to say thank you that was great um I've seen firsthand the confidence that these programs build because my daughter has been in elementary and horror Fest and now she's going to start this week with a middle school program so um and then I did have a question but that flew out of my head so so thank you yeah it it is great um yeah no still not okay no worries I'll raise my hand again if it comes back all right do we have other questions all right I'll uh add in like Miss Jackson I've seen F firsthand my kids loved it at the elementary school level my son was uh big into it at pcis so definitely um appreciative of all you do it's just amazing and I agree with your sentiment that we were absolutely lucky to be in the the school district where the prioritizes that this much um is what's your biggest um challenges like if you had more people more dollars what would we do more like where where are you limited or you know challenged um I mean I think the the biggest challenge that we're going to continually face is um is budget wise um and because like working in a technology-driven field um you can purchase a camera and you know you're going to get as much life as you can out of that camera but you're talking about technology that can be out ofd within five years so that's an issue that we're going to continually face and that's why uh for example at South High We addressed it with the Grant and we went um actively for that Grant because you know $200,000 did that studio and new equipment for them but also you have to think about where that how long that life will actually survive so for example those cameras that they had there were anywhere from 10 to 12 years old which I would say hit well beyond the lifespan of what those cameras could actually do so um that's one of the biggest challenges that we face um and I think uh as our programs continue to expand that's also where we start to hit those some of those um issues because you know there's you can only put so many students on one device um and also a lot of the devices that you need are very specific to this field um for example like trying to edit on a Chromebook edit video on a Chromebook is not going to be efficient or or useful in any means so that's um I would say our biggest challenge that we continue to face appreciate that thanks Miss Jackson do you Remember I do um for the B present video series uh I just wanted to give you the opportunity to tell people where they could find that at home because you were talking about the administration page and I feel like some of the things like the video at Hedge for families who are watching might be important for them to be able to access that too for sure the the um best way to find them is on our social media channels so whether that's uh Facebook or Instagram they're uh pushed out uh on there um they're also on uh the Plymouth Ed TV website um I know they uh they do we do have a uh future for them on the PPS website they're not there currently um but that will be an eventual place so I would say the best place to find them currently is on the uh Plymouth Public Schools uh social media channels okay thank you Dr s I think Dr Campbell had his hand up before me oh no just um one you have to see the latest hedge video the student should be an ambassador across this District fantastic it is absolutely uh pulls at your heartstrings he's just did a f it was a fantastic video it's a great video plug for the amazing things that happen at hedge in general um I just wanted to point out you know what Brian mentioned about like the finances and the resources a lot of people in the community don't realize that this entire program all these opportunities that our students receive is is supported through a cable tax agreement this is not a part of our operational budget so when we're talking about the classes and the programming and the videos the informational videos the podcasts all of this is being done all these opportunities are being done because of that cable tax agreement that we have and with cable kind of dwindling and people streaming those funds are you know we always vulnerable to how much funds are available so I amazing job um the fact that they were able to utilize you know have a nationally recognized program at self high school year after year after year with technology that came over from the Old South is pretty incredible so you know I think really I think it speaks to what the staff do but also how the kids take care of the equipment and the importance of really you know really getting the most out of the resources that we have so I just wanted to plug the Hedge video but also uh sort of reiterate what Mr burn said I appreciate the clarification Dr sson you have a question it's great how EDTV has become a Cornerstone it's become a piece of our our educational program that's never going to go away in fact just keeps expanding and you guys are doing a great job and I love to see your team up there um so keep that up thank you is there any is there any an need for program that are not in English so that's a great question um and uh we we actually have started um moving um in a way towards that so for example uh um a lot of the schools as you know do one school one book and things like that so um a I want to say it even been two years ago now but um Jen mvan or Elementary specialist took it upon herself to say well why don't we also have um some of our high school students who speak Portuguese read I think at the time they were doing um oh I'm I'm blanking on the book but to to read the book in Portuguese so that then they could have those chapters in Portuguese as well so in certain areas we are doing that to to kind of um to to to connect with those students and give them the opportunity um and then the Hedge video is another great example that of something that you know we're branching out into some of those bilingual spaces where we can produce um obviously there's a lot more um work that goes into that in terms of pulling um District resources in in terms of translation and things like that and making sure that we're communicating the proper U message um which can be challenging but we have um started to move that area but that's kind of the extent that we have done so far I'm glad to hear that it's on your it's on your master plan for sure for sure and I guess one other piece I'd like to touch on as well with that um uh which is kind of why we use YouTube as a streaming platform is um and we've built a a rather decent following on YouTube um to where we have uh unlocked features where you can also have things translated live so for example this meeting you could go on YouTube you could say translate it and you know again you're using AI through that translation process so you know take take it with a grain of salt but like there there is um value there in terms of you know communicating at least the the logistics of of some of the things that we are saying in a separate language so you'll be able to see all those translations live which is is an amazing thing MH absolutely thank youc anybody else no excellent presentation appreciate the update awesome thank you all right next up we were supposed to have a math department update but Dr matinis is feeling under the weather I believe so we will reschedule that so we'll move on to superintendent's uh report Dr Camp thank you Mr Pizano um just a few things just a reminder um tomorrow we'll be presenting the FY 26 budget at the Joint board meeting at Town Hall at 6 PM um in the Great Hall if you're available to go um or if you're not I guess just just let me know and I'll let Miss LOF know so we can inform the town they just want to make sure for Arrangements in terms of seating purposes um that everyone has a spot at the table in addition if you may be virtual we can let them know that as well so that you can have um remote access um Dr bla D and I will also be joining the advisory and finance committee uh for the presentation of the school Department's proposed budget on Thursday um evening I think that's at six o'clock as well didn't put down the time but later in the afternoon evening um six uh Saturday we have our Saturday morning meeting um we'll be scheduled we'll have a light coffee and breakfast at 8:30 and run from 9 to 12 oh okay prepacked agenda um one thing that's very early I just wanted to bring it to everyone's attention Dr blazel and I and uh um and Mr derky were meeting with uh Park Plymouth so as you all know Park Plymouth actually utilizes this Nathaniel Morton space in the summertime it's sort of a free lot they've come before this board many many years ago about fencing situation which they worked with um they're very interested in um expanding renovating that current parking lot uh which would benefit us um quite substantially really um as well as the residence for the park Plymouth purposes so it's very in very early stages but the idea would be to first move the playground and potentially expand the playground structure over near the fields um the the end of the fields thereby opening up additional parking spaces um ideally would also give us an opportunity to Stage our buses back there um as you know it that dismissal it's very hectic here with parent pickup um and the buses so that's something again that would be very beneficial to us it's very early stages we had the civil engineer at the town did some conceptual designs uh there's a lot of things that need to be um worked through but as this becomes more and more of a possibility certainly we'll bring it back to this board to see if for participation and feedback from that from from from the committee in that process but I I do think it would be a great opportunity for us to really um renovate and have someone that would maintain that lot over time but also create a need that we have as well as um resolve a parking situation which would help help with downtown Plymouth as well uh just a reminder she should go to Japan during the summer of the summer the towns uh disting ing visitors committee will offer a shaer room cultural enrichment trip to shishi Gama for 7 days it's running July 31st through August 6th uh uh 10 students that reside in Plymouth current seventh and eth graders are welcome to apply we've pushed this out through social media um as well as our email channels internally uh it's open again to all Plymouth students um if you're interested please apply the application um is is online um and it's available through February 14th um and we will be scheduling interviews the evening of the 25th um we had um I think I've mentioned many times before I've been working with Dr R and I have been working with the fth volunteers and public schools organization and and um Mass service Alliance to see what we could do to develop a comprehensive volunteer program here in the Plymouth Public Schools so we had a fourth uh organizational meeting tonight with our volunteer group as well as many members of their board came out and spoke to our volunteer Planning Group it was a great meeting uh talking about like how to develop Community Partners board development funding uh etc etc so really laying the groundwork to uh identify where we want to start in terms of what our needs are and see where we can match our needs with the communities uh to build something that could substantially you know substantially change the way that we uh promote and support volunteerism in our school so really excited about that and look forward to um getting that that going this spring um we held our first advisory Team Planning meeting for our Equity audit which will be starting soon we had that meeting on the 22nd uh we are reviewing the domains of the auditing tool with MAAC and our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday so we'll be uh looking to start collecting data pushing out um some surveys Etc so more to come very soon um I was out of the state uh for MLK weekend but um heard that we had a very successful MLK weekend uh just had our students involved in essay contests students uh finalists read their essays uh we also had students who performed uh I just want to thank uh no place for hate Dr Rogers our staff our students for for all the work that went into celebration I know it was very well received and um wish I could have been there but I was in Connecticut this weekend this past weekend um Article 19 I just wanted to let you know that Dr blaz Blaze Dell and I presented Article 19 which is the feasibility and schematic design uh to the advisory and subcommittee on January 15th it was supported 11 to1 um we will also should have mentioned when Mr burn is also helping us to do a video for town meeting to explain Article 19 what it entails and how it would benefit the community so we'll be putting that together for town meeting and uh we're working on the script for that and uh look forward to getting that going um last lastly community community conversations so um Miss Jackson Dr blaz D and I and and Miss Badger had been involved and really want to thank uh the local scene impact TV for just opening their doors to us this year quite a bit to let us um talk about our budget our budget challenges some of the Creative Solutions that we've had um over the many years it seems at this point but um we also had an opportunity they do a segment called Community con conversations around this time every year so this was a larger 15 to 20 minute segment a little shorter than the what we were doing before actually but um we recorded that also on the 15th of January so that will be going out soon so U Miss Jackson Dr blazel and I recorded this this this video was specifically about this proposed budget we also mentioned Article 19 as well as the capital projects that were proposed for town meeting where people could get information Etc so um I want to thank Miss Jackson and Dr blazel of course who um have supported that so that's all I have this evening Mr bazano thank you very much a lot going on um you have any
