judgment and ability if so say I will I will I will I will all right and that is it if you guys want to sign on the bottom of that and date it uh 13 January and I'll grab those um at the end all right welcome thank you uh so welcome to you thank you um we'll let the record reflect that all numbers are present and my board chair comments was just to welcome director H and director in um from there I'll move uh could I get a an approval of the agenda second thank you director tro second director hacket any discussion all in favor say I I opposed all right motion Carries On next one is election of officers um so I sat through the uh the training for this so I will uh just talk about it just a little bit uh so I'll open nominations for each position one at a time um I'll ask three times and then close the nominations for that uh for whichever of the four that the the chair the vice chair the clerk and the treasurer there's only one nomination and that member does not decline they are approved by acclamation without needing to vote for it you can nominate yourself and you can also decline a nomination if there are two more nominations uh it'll be a roll call vote for one member at a time and you can only vote I for once for each position and vote n for the others a majority is required um to do that and each one of these is for a one-year term um to go until next January when we have our next uh organizational meeting uh so with that uh we we will start with the chairperson there nominations for a chair I'd like to nominate Ellie Hol okay you accept okay I'd like to know H right are there any other nominations any other nominations any other nominations all right uh nominations are closed for the chairperson so we will do a roll call vote first for director Hol uh director tro I director Andre me director boy I director Hol I director hacket May director hofstead n uh and for director hofstead director tro n director Andrew I director boy n director Hol n director Hackett I and director hofstead I all right uh so that's three three so no majority so we will uh continue on and um bring it up again later uh nominations for vice chair I will nominate director hacket I'll accept okay any others for nominations for vice chair I'll nominate Lucas Boyd boydy all right any other nominations any other nominations any other nominations all right we nominations are closed for vice chair we have uh director hacket and director Boyd so uh first is for director hacket so director trout n director Andre I director Boyd name director Hol yes director hacket I and director Hofer hi uh director Boyd uh nomination uh director tro hi director Andre N director Boyd I director home I you voted can I revise that I was I'm sorry I was thinking it was Lucas can we redo that yes that's fine so n for yeah sorry about that yep it's going to be a very slow meeting um and I for void yes okay uh director hack name name and director H thanks thanks it's gonna get really slow then it is all right uh that one is TI as well so we will have Circle back to that one uh clerk I will open nominations for clerk to nominate okay Dr Andre do you accept yes okay any other nominations for clerk any other nominations for clerk any other nominations for clerk all right I will close the nominations for Clerk and uh being the only one you're cler congratulations all right and uh next will take nominations for treasur I would like to nominate Mario okay director trout you accept uh yeah okay are there any nominations for treasurer any other nominations for treasurer any other nominations for treasurer all right director Dr you are it congratulations I think this is year three all right right um so the next one is uh studying the regular meeting time and dates um so the past year the board held 12 regular board meetings um and work sessions as scheduled um scheduled as needed so we met on the second Monday of the month at 6 PM um and the school board meetings canot be held on legal holidays uh so I have a list of those dates for the second Monday if we want to keep it there then director home brought up you guys saw it in the thing of doing it on possibly a Wednesday um and with the Heidi schedule we can't do it on the third and fourth Wednesday so it would be the first or second Wednesday so um there any thoughts like I said I just wanted to kind of bring it up for conversation just regarding like parents who may want to come you know you're not going to miss your sporting event or anything over coming but I hear people who would like to come if they didn't have so much going on whether or not they would or not I don't know so just a topic I guess religion of the conflict for me on Wednesdays my wife teaches I'm home kid a conflict for me so do we want to keep it on the second Monday are we okay with that ultimately we're all going to have a conflict at some point in the year with corre with personal the least right second Mondays second Monday so um and I'll fill this in as we do it but that would be February and if you guys want to fill this in on here it' be February 10th March 10th a April 14th May 12th June 9th July 14th August 11th September 8th in October we're going to have to reschedule because it's uh Columbus Day indigenous people's day on the 13th um November 10th and December 8th so as we get closer to that October we can we can make that um so first I I'd say let's wait until we let wait until we get closer okay with that too yeah I well yeah I suppose we should put a date down that I'm just assuming because that was one of the days that we couldn't do it this year so so we go so that'd be October 6 as a we'll put that into the placeholder yeah I think I think should have a is that the other question is the cember 8th does that work for TR in taxation yes all right all right so um somebody want to make that motion for the second Monday a motion all right director home thank you second second director Andre any other discussion on that all in favor say I I opposed all right motion carries all right the next one is uh setting compensation for directors so the current compensation is uh $2,500 a year per board member and the chairperson receives an additional $500 a year stien half the amount will given in June of 2025 and half in December of 2025 uh any discussion on that discussion I will make that motion to keep it the same second second director home thank you I'd like to I'd like to have a little discussion well that's next discussion so Ellie done the board before so this is different than it was before this is a lot cleaner I don't know if it's I mean for me it's enough but for the time that board members put in I don't know if it is but it's just an it's just something that I think needs to be talked about because if we go we go three four five years and there's no adjustment to it and then all of a sudden we have an adjustment then they visible where' that come from I think I think we should talk about there should probably be an adjustment I'm okay with the number is right now I just I just I know I know the time that board members put in and so but that's my Soap Box little soap box so that's fair and I'll be quite honest when I got on the board last time I didn't even know you got paid I thought it was that was that was that system was archaic and right I mean fill this out and then yeah I mean I personally I think 2500 it seems like a lot but you do put a lot of time in but I guess if you're well if you didn't want to put the time in you wouldn't run in the first place right I I get that too so yeah so but so yep any other discussion on that all right all in favor say I I I I opposed all right motion carries all right naming of official depositories for district funds so uh heid Heidi Hagen Pine Country Bank Minnesota school district liquid asset fund and Minnesota trust PMA as official depositories for Royalton School District funds this is uh this motion would be to update the authorized signers on the districts official depository accounts and all certificates of deposit continuing um with the school board chair and same treasur and new Clerk of John Andre and and signers on behalf of the district effective at today's date that we need in there 1 13 January 25 all right um do I have a motion to approve that so director ha thank you I'll second second thank you discussion actually I have a question on that how can we approve this without the information filled in for the board chair can we I mean I know we're approving the financial institution just the language here um I think we can and we would redo it once we have another vote for a chair that has a majority but that allows her to keep going and then the clerk can sign and the and the treasurer can sign does that make sense everybody that way she can get what she needs to get done and continue doing right and then yep and then we can we can update that all that any other discussion on that one all right I have a motion in a second all in favor say I I opposed all right motion I do have that not as a note to uh bring back uh investment of funds so this one is to approve Heidi hegen business manager to invest funds on behalf of the Royalton School District um so the motion is to approve Heidi haing business manager to invest funds uh for the school district does anybody want to make that motion I'll make a motion director home thank you second that was director Andy y yep any discussion on that one all in favor say I I oos motion carries all right annual delegation of authority to make electronic fund transfers the auditor requires the board to designate someone to make electronic fund transfers the business manager has been assigned to do this in the um so the motion would be to approve Heidi hegen business manager to make electronic fund transfers for the Royalton School District anybody want to make that motion I'll make that motion director Andrews second I'll second that director Boyd thank you uh any discussion all in favor say I I I opposed motion carries all right naming of Representatives and committee members um we have this over oh that's fine well so I had the old list oh just to push down there with it sure um so these we technically don't have to vote on um unless we have like three people that want to do something and it only calls for two um then we can vote on it but uh so royton city council meeting representative uh does anybody want to that I can do that one I'll be an alternate if you want alternate all right anybody else I'll be the primary and director Andre is the second uh bis city council I'll do that again okay boy uh does anybody want to be the alternate for that I can be that all right BR home um finance committee Representatives so three of them right yep so there should be three two spots mandatory volunteering from me okay as Treasurer director tril I would be on this one director home I'll throw my hat into that one okay so director trout director home and director hackin or Finance uh so Finance meeting times and dates so if we stay with the second Monday um before we had gone to the fourth Wednesday you guys want to take a look at that and see if Works no it's a it's a zoom call it's a zoom call um it has been a zoom call at noon um normally so it doesn't have to stay that way but that's that's what it was moon on Wednesdays it would be on the fourth Wednesday if that works and if you're okay with that we'll set it as that and then if conflicts come up then we've had to move them before so that would be okay too are you guys okay with that for now I think so I'm okay with any day the week as long as it stays at noon okay um how long other call yeah half hour 30 minutes okay that's on Google meet you said okay all right uh policy committee Representatives um so three of those I will do that again I'll do that one okay I will too okay uh so I have director hofstead director Andre and director tro for that one anybody else all right um so policy meeting date and times um we've normally done the fourth Wednesday at like 2 o' that may not work anymore but uh what's uh what time are you done with work most days um I work from home so I'm flexible okay so the big thing would be kids off the bus for me at 3:30 okay we moved to a different day than Wednesday I I'm fine with moving it to anyway honestly well I guess so you need to be home yes it f so you need to be done here by three no I'm just five minutes on like 350 yep 320 325 you say that but the buses are in the parking LOD at that time well that's true that is a dangerous thing maybe 35 um okay I let's yeah I'll try to make that work I'll I'll work with that at two o'clock we'll stick with that I'll talk toor 2 o' on on the Wednesday wnes on the Wednesday okay if doesn't work we'll uh I will for some reason okay so fourth Wednesday at uh uh 2 p.m. all right uh naming of strategic planning curricul and curriculum advisory and comprehensive achievement and Civic Readiness that's the old world's best work for yes okay um advisory committee Representatives so that is two yep two of them anybody like to do that I will be one of them anybody else that's fine we can have just one is fine for that one um facilities committee representative so that one there is co I don't know that committee has done much besides take a tour there is that's that's really all all it was last building yeah we don't have any building projects or anything going on at least for now so I would do that all right director home thank you I can do that too director boy all right uh sounds good uh legislative liaison representative anybody want to be the alternate I can do that okay sounds good director hacket and director Andrew um Midstate education District I would like to continue to to work on that that's okay one to what's that I would do that one too okay right um High School league represent that one either besides signing the form once a year yes that's the person we just let them know who it is I can do that okay anybody want to be the alternate I can do that all right uh Labor Management meet and confer representative so this is a superintendent meet meets with teacher Representatives up to five times a year as per the master agreement uh usually every other month uh to discuss non-contractual concerns know how it's been as long as they um reached out when they wanted to meet yep I think we've only had one I think two two yeah two in the last two years um I would like to do that okay direct boy I will do that also okay direct your home uh next one is Staff Development Committee representative put my name on that one I we'll do that as well okay H director and um health and safety committee Representatives like do that I can do that director home we actually do schedule this about four times um but the board member hadn't gone in the past and I don't know if there were conflicts in that particular person schedu and just a different like it's not always the same time you just schedule them yeah and it covers everything Health everything's safety because it's too hard to have that many meetings for what the policies require now that so director home and Alternatives director H uh naming of source ball Representatives that director tro anybody want to be an alternate as an alter uh non-union negotiation Representatives so it can [Music] be it's two and then an alternate be on this director home I will do that again as well uh sure why this the others don't I don't know I wonder if that was an error I don't recall having an alternate no I don't yeah I think it might have got put on by accident uh so director home and director host uh naming of teacher negotiation Representatives I'd like to do that that as well haven't done that before um next one is naming of uh or the rest Union negotiation representative I'd like to be that one director Charlie I would well director boy all right uh next one is Secretaries negotiation Representatives do this one director H I will as well director Andre all right and principal negotiation Representatives be interested in this one I can too director Hol uh superintendent negotiation Representatives director all right I think we have our have our list right thank you for that that ends the organizational meeting uh yeah the organizational part of the organizational meeting then then we roll right into our regular meeting so with that we will uh do a recognition of citizens for in purposes okay uh so next is reports news the superintendent report so I'll be brief um I want to give you an update tomorrow the legislative session begins and we're looking at a couple of issues that are going to arise for our school district and every school district um across the state and that is if they don't find a funding mechanism for the unemployment insurance that the unemployment benefits that they approved the last session they allotted so much money that money is gone by the end of this fiscal year so that ran us last year um so this would be like your summer and um unemployment um that ran us about $138,000 it will likely be more this summer and you cannot Levy for that like you do your other unemployment so it would be a general fund expense so obviously everyone is um advocating heavily to for them to secure a funding stream to offset that so districts don't run into um using general fund dollars for that um the other impact is compensatory Revenue so for fiscal year 26 they will only use direct certifications they will not use the paper forms we still have to have the paper forms fill out because of the title work that we the title dollars that come from the Fest so if they don't put some sort of either a hold harmless to figure out compensatory um we are estimating and we have to it's only an estimate we don't know for sure exactly what that number looks like but it could be potentially a decrease in revenue of over $100,000 so that would put us at over a $200,000 either increase combination of increased expenses with decreased revenues so I just wanted to show you this and I will get the new board members a email copy the other members should have this still um this is what remember we're putting together as a team to figure out what's in our future I grade out the 24 because it's over it's at the Top Line there I might move it to the bottom I don't know I think about that um but this is kind of what what we're looking at that may be coming and and we just have some work to do so we broke it out by um facilities teaching and learning technology Transportation those are the big four of costs um can you pull this down please you can see it keep going so what I've added to this is some of those uncontrollable costs um special education services substitutes paid family okay FY 26 January there's additional paid family leave so staff will be able to take an additional 12 weeks um aside from the federal and there will be a cost to the district and the employee coming out of payroll checks I don't have an exact number that cost but does that start January of 2016 then um again unemployment uncontrollable costs enrollment if it's up and down how that works PSO um more and more students taking PSO funds go to college and leave us however again if they withdraw after 15 days they come back to us we provide them classes and the colleges beat the money um utilities um fuel cost so some of those are the uncontrollable and then at Maria's suggestion which we're going to get this one updated you see the the graph there this is of those bonds that have been approved um voter approved are the blue and the orange are from the board you can see when they expire we've emailed PMA to get us an updated version because this was from last year so we want to get an updated so the 24 will fall off and then you'll see that um the smaller one is done in 2022 I can hard to see thatu 2032 and then 2036 for the large building Bond so we'll get an updated one of that and then once that comes from them which I'm hoping will be in a couple of days I will email this out to everyone so you have it again so I just wanted to bring that up that you know we have our ongoing um big purchases like buses and vans and things and facility costs that may be coming we are putting setting aside um ltfm dollars every year uh to manage a roof project that'll come start to come doe around 2033 so um when we think about these other issues at the legislature with them not funding but having the requirements could if they don't fix it be a very very different situation for us thank you on business manager report good evening chair hofstead members of the board superintendent Dr Christine more Camp Herman Heidi Hagen business manager for the district I'm reviewing the fiscal year 2025 January board update on financials and enrollment enrollment we continue to track monthly currently as of the end of December enrollment kindergarten through 12th grade was 918 this is up slightly from November by couple students last fiscal year we ended the year at 97 this is a historical enrollment outline I added 2425 as a new line at the top there showing historical enrollment Trends this is a snapshot of month end November 2024 for the general fund revenues green you can see the board approved adopted budget just under 11 point five million as a percentage of the total budget overall we are above projected Revenue uh at 33.6% as compared to previous years uh that is in state funding that could be um a few different reasons but timing of our state funds is likely the reason for that and then an increase in federal revenue received and that's a timing based on federal draws this is a look at general fund expenses again month end November green is the adopted board approved budget just over 11.6 million in expense overall above projected totals as a percentage of the budget at 36.1% as compared to previous years 31 and just over 33% next slide I go through gives some additional details on uh the budget variances for expense salaries and wages are tracking with the current budget benefits are over budget 4.9% this is due to health insurance percentage or overall percentage of contract increases of the last round of negotiations work comp expense increased and unemployment expenses purchase services are over budget by 25% this has to do with a few different things property insurance we paid in full at the beginning of the fiscal year whereas in previous years we paid it per month we paid it in full one because we have um enough cash flow to support it and to forego the monthly fee that's associated with paying it monthly long-term facilities maintenance repairs and up dat projects as budgeted those were done over the summer versus previous years some of the projects were spanned out over the course of the entire year and then specifically increases in expense from Mid-State special education services and the cost for post-secondary Education supplies are on track with budget as is capital and the other category which is a small budget item but it is considered over budget due to classifications of the codes to align with MD's accounting eup fars coding um we are working on uh a consideration for the board and finance committee to review a fiscal year 25 budget revision I provided the timeline there as I work through that with Administration and superintendent uh the week of January 20th we'll bring that to the finance committee and then in February based on the outcomes of the finance comm's recommendations we'll bring that to the board for approval also in conjunction with the fy2 budget revision I'm working on the preliminary plans for next school Year's budget you can see there the timeline in conjunction with my current meetings I'm having with superintendents principles and directors we're talking about next fisal year February we're going to begin talking about enrollment and staff the week of February 24th we'll bring that enrollment and Staffing plan to the finance committee for consideration and in March we'll recommend a budget plan to the board which will give a synopsis of the plans for fiscal year 26 and then April through June we'll continue to work on budgets and updates to finance committee and board and finally at our June meeting the board is charged with approving a final budget for fiscal year six any questions they do have a question um so for the last couple months I know we've been emailing back and forth Heidi but um just to like try to start out January with like a transparent budget I guess what I the if the whole board could actually get like our original budget for year 23 24 and then what the final budget was and what the actual budget was because to me [Music] um I guess when I listen to the presentations that were like on budget and you know after it's revised and whatever but then there's going to be things brought into the finance committee and the board about you know teaching teachers and programs and stuff to me that just doesn't seem like we're on budget so I came up with some numbers myself and then if we could just get those that would be nice like without like um fluctuating you know revenues fluctuating expenses you know just that end of the year like audit page to see if and maybe I'm totally off but to see like with my numbers what I come up with if that's similar to what we are well I'm understanding you correctly you're wanting the final results of our fiscal year 24 budget I would just rise budget and actual y like what the actual or what the original budget was the final budget and then the actual budget and that is in our audit report I don't know I just want to make sure you know that because to me then it looks like we're over budget for fiscal year 24 that's finalized that we are over budget F school year 24 is the 23 24 school year but we went above what the budget was the original bu correct both in revenue and expense okay that's correct okay this is fiscal year 25 that we're looking at yep I understand I STI my foot out here I think when we did the original budget for last year we were we were deficit budget what we spent what we said originally it got better as the year went on but you know been on the board with me before you know how I feel that we're way too conservative but I do understand why we are that way can p that number from I mean just so like so I'm not like am like I just want to make sure especially now being on the finance that I'm under I mean let's face it school budget government budget is totally crazy so it's like I'm a very basic number person so if we could just have like without the percentages and without the you know it's just easier thing for everyone to understand is that something you guys could do with the um at the first meeting first Finance meeting the audit y anybody else questions for heid all right thank you all right next is the consent agenda approval so the board is consenting to approve items listed below as presented one minut at any point a director can pull an item off the consent agenda forther discussion uh so this is uh approving the regular board meeting minutes claims accounts and financials that's it oh sorry there it is approval of new hires approval of resignations terminations the naming of the official newspaper is a morsel County record the naming of legal council as Squires waldburger and mace and that is it is there anything anybody wants to pull all right can I get a motion to approve the consent agenda director hack thank you second second director boy thank you any discussion I just have a general question on the legal council is there like a pool of law firms was from or is there just the one that just banks no there's this one there's rat Wick and then there's um oh my goshy starty so there's three that I know yeah that local school districts do they hton pton thank you that's it they all charge the same hourly question all right anything else all right I have a motion in the second all in favor say I I opposed all right motion carries uh going to number 12 that is approval of PID Equity report chair hopstad members of the board superintendent work Perman I'm Amy Krueger the Human Resources Director um in your packets you should have the pay Equity information um from our report the pay Equity report is done every three years so this is our year to do that um and basically the the gist of doing this is um the state is looking at do females um who work here have equal pay um plans as males at Royalton Public Schools um and they do this via three tests one is a statistical analysis test one is a salary range test and one is um a service pay test and we um overall passed the pay Equity um tests and um so this is the finalized um verification of that any questions I do have a question um on this like as I go through it so what like on the one through like the kitchen helpers all the I guess per se not administrative jobs there isn't a year of service or or sorry not a year service the they all have like the years to Max salary or the exceptional service pay and administrative administrative positions don't what is the difference there where are you looking Ellie like on this um job class verification yeah years of or years to Max salary and then exceptional service pay so okay so you're looking at the years of service compared to the exceptional service pay no just why that like all the positions that aren't at administrative don't have that the years of service because there is um go back up a little bit the years the max salary is basically because they have a um have steps in lanes and so the steps and Lanes take over the years to Max salary so they have in that in that years of Max salary they have six steps in that kitchen helper position in the van driver position the years of service they don't have step and Lanes so it's years of service that that they that we report okay so that's like you report one or the other okay so like say that kitchen helper or whatever like if if that kitchen helper has been here for six years that's like the max salary they can get or is this just a this is a group the group of kitchen helpers so there are there's one male six females and so that group is primarily female yeah and then there's the job points so the so in order to get to their Max salary they have six steps within the kitchen helper group if you look in their contract y y and I understand that I mean I get the number of the males and females I guess my question is so like after six years any of those helpers are maxed salary yep y okay and so what's the difference if some of those like the van you know the um other contracted positions why is there a Max term but there is none on administrative positions steps and Lanes we don't have steps and Lanes okay so they can max out but you can go this way to get more money by education and you can go this you go this way with s and then what happens is when you do negotiations and they give raises it's all those numbers change and there's nothing you can do about that I mean you have to do that you have to have that I mean like is this just a Royalton School like years to Max salary the steps in Lanes or is this like a Minnesota this is royalty okay so that can be changed yes but as you do that if you put add more steps or take away steps that affects this pay equity and whether we pass or not depending on the female versus male categories yeah so one of the suggestions was to be very careful if we're taking away or adding steps two different groups right explain that one a little bit so if it's a primarily female group and there's less it's looking at the equal equal opportunity um for that pay so in one of the tests they're going to take what's a female primarily female group and what's a primarily male group and if they if they are close in job points they're going to look at if there's six steps in a female job and there's or there's nine steps in a female job to get to the Max and six to get to the male that looks not so good does that make sense it does but we've never I've never paid attention to that when when we start talking about getting rid of lanes our steps and yeah we have not talked about that much we have not talked about that you know we we've done some reconciliation the last few contracts with you know somebody they they had a lot of steps it just took so long to give to the top and after a few years they're they're professional what they do you know so so we've tooken steps out but I we've never talked about this so we usually but usually when we well since I've been here when we've taken out at the b or at one point we've added them back in so we've never not all of them though but most but most yeah but maybe before you before okay that's just good to know any other questions so if you don't have a stepson Lane years to Max salary there essentially is no Max salary no usually you're just like those positions usually are a contracted like every two years you do contracts so like the Human Resources Director so mine I have this year salary and I have next year's salary so there isn't really a step to Max salary there is no Max there it's just negotiated every two years where the steps and lanes are the max are the the guide for that group and that that gets negotiated every two years something is good this from recent legislation you said it's du every three years so has this been around a long time yeah this process state of January that's why we had to get approved of this meeting sure I do know that Minnesota is the only state that does this um and they do it for all of the all the municipalities as far as like City and all the public yep so anyone who's under the perah P um the public education or the public employes I'm sorry what's that I think it's p okay but they they all of them have to do this based on state guidelines okay and I have another question I'm just thinking so say like the evening custodian they they get to their year of maths so the only really way they would get like a raise or a benefit after being here 10 years is like a insurance rents or something like that they also have longevity so that's another way that they get but they also get raises because we increase the each one of those steps gives an increase but even after 10 years yeah that 10 they might stay at 10th but that money doesn't say that 10 changes yeah every two years that number 10 every two years it changes and there's longevity for being here in the district for so long so even though those steps and Lanes have that have the certain number in there there's also the longevity based on it's in a different part of the contract okay got the danger the danger we run into when we get into this and is that we start talking about percentages in these unions people that are at the Top If You Give A 3% get a lot bigger ra than somebody on the bottom however that is the way that the the units like to bargain is by percentages so even though we've tried to do it other at that's what usually ends up happening so then after a couple budget after a couple Cycles you end up trying to fix that because pretty soon you can't hire anybody because it's you know the top end is doing fine but the bottom gets slow so it's always a it's always fluid and it matters what the job market is too and how who's out there and what where they are and everything else so I'm happy that we pass because I wasn't paying attention all right any other questions all right I will take a motion to approve the the equity report Mr chair approve the pay Equity report all right thank you director hack a second second second director Andrews any other discussion all in favor say I I opposed I would just like a little bit more time to think about that not that it's going to matter obviously but okay approval for establishing combined polling places resolution will be for year January of 26 because we're we approve it now that next year I have that you don't have it no all right so uh combined ping places so be resolved by the school board of Independent School District 485 state of Minnesota as follows pursu to Minnesota immediately to the appropriate count County auditor who shall change the registrant status to challenge in the Statewide registration system uh yeah that's the uh that's the resolution um somebody like to move that resolution I will director tro thank you I will make a second on that um and because it's a resolution it's a a roll call vote so director trout I director Andre I director Boyd I director Hol I director hacket I and director hofstead I um so motion carries 60 um and then thank and then the uh reduction resolution so does somebody want to introduce the reduction resolution introduce IT director home thank you all right uh this resolution directing the administration to make recommendations for reduction in programs and position and reasons therefore whereas if Financial condition of the school district indicates that the school board may need to reduce expenditures and whereas there may be a reduction in student enrollment and whereas this reduction in expenditure and decrease in student enrollment may include discontinuance of positions and discontinuance or curtailments of programs and whereas a determination must be made as to which teachers contracts may be terminated and not renewed and which teachers may be placed on unrequested leave of absence without pay or fringe benefits in affecting discontinuance of positions be resolved by the school board of Independent School District number 485 as follows that the school board hereby directs the superintendent of schools and administration to consider the discontinuance of programs or positions to effectuate economies in the school district and reduce expenditures and as a result of a reduction in enrollment make recommendations to the school board for the discontin of programs curtailment of programs discontinuance of positions or curtailment of positions um the motion for adoption of this forgoing resolution was seconded by director hacket director hacket thank you um and upon a roll call vote will be uh taken so director cro I director Andre I director Boyd hi director home can I ask a question absolutely okay um so in this this is any position at the school correct I mean it kind of like really hits on like teachers um programs I mean this this form would be where you could do any positions at the school not just those if there were to be Cuts made yeah contract it's any any position okay but you have to follow the contract so like last and first all yeah that kind of just people yeah to me it just kind of zeroed in on like teachers and it doesn't and we aren't necessarily meeting to do this we just do this every year in case something happens financially that we need to it's not a planned situation it's more of a just MSB advises you to do that in the event something happens legislatively that hurs your I okay uh director hacket I and director Hof I the next one is approval of the donations resolution does somebody want well I'll introduce this um whereas all information is included in your packet um so we have two ations to approve this month the Russell Garretts family generously donated $300 to be used by the boys basketball program for equipment and the rice lies Club generously donated $1,200 for new playground equipment at the elementary school um and the conditions of these gifts were given um and the motion for adoption of the forgoing resolution was seconded by member thank you and upon a roll call vote being taken uh director Char hi director Andrews hi director boy hi director Hol hi director hacket hi and director H hi uh nobody voted against and nobody abstained all right thank you uh upcoming meeting schedule so um the work session uh we talked a little bit about it in the um the board brief so uh the plan right now is to have a kind of a once around the world with all of our deps uh to get kind of a State of the State of where we're at there um so that that's kind of the agenda we don't have to do that but we kind of thought hey that that's a good way to kind of start the year once we have the new board and meet everybody that's that's ahead of those things and uh and get to know that and then Ellie had a couple other things that that she wanted to talk about so I figured if she can if you want to talk about it now and then we'll we'll put those on the agenda for the work session talk about as board okay um when we met before we started I guess to get our computer and stuff I kind of broughten up that I wouldn't mind I know at the beginning of the meeting there's time for like public questions or input but I mean now I'm sitting on the board before when I wasn't um sometimes then when it gets to like that topic you know things pop in your head um I would like to just see maybe a little bit more discussion allowed from people if they have concerns um I mean if you think about it it's the parents it's the people paying for the district um with concerns so I don't think you know adding a two three minute option for them to talk during the meeting would be a big deal just to clarify so because I I was thinking about this quite a bit after we had talked about it too um and that's kind of what I was thinking about was just doing another basic another time for public comment yeah or just like you know kind of like we do when we go to a you know an item or whatever you know um when we're reading through it even if you just you know because we had kind of talked about that and I know it does take a little bit more time but I guess it's kind of important information too but when we go through like each item you know for like the approval um you know instead of taking like item a through J and just approving it you know maybe just even bringing each of those like you know this is the new hires the and then if someone had a question you know about something they could ask at that time I don't know yeah that's I just think I mean if you're sitting there with a question and you kind of just get pushed aside it just doesn't give you a very good taste you know that that people want your input or your concern or you know and not that you have to answer them directly right away you can give them a week or you know like thanks for your concern or if it's a you know maybe something for Joel or Tony or the ad or whoever you know then they could answer that I guess yep I so and we that's what we should talk about at the work session so that's why I wanted to bring it now so we can think about a little bit because that just made me think of a different way that maybe we could do that and right and do that but we'll bring it up now okay and then also I wanted to add um like just kind of how we have the room set up um I always feel bad for Heidi with her computer on her lap I think if we did like an admin table and US table like so we can look and talk and work together I guess instead of like them sitting back here and you know just look more as a team I guess putting like the admin basically across here like you know if I mean even if added a table and do the board and then admin here I don't think it would take you know we could back up a little bit I just an option I really like having a board across to be able to talk this way when we set up the work session we set everybody in a big Square well not with a TV a you so you can see that on when we do this meeting and see how that well probably like we used to co don't bring up that we're all like we're we're in the bedroom like 20 feet away from everybody like what huh you know my thoughts on all right so I have those two down for and the state of Department yep and the state of departments yep um so when do we want to do the work session so I think we have to wait until like February 1st so all the uh all the directors get the chance to uh put that together for us um you thinking before the next meeting right uh it can be it doesn't necessarily have to be but sure um but it can be what about uh so all throughout Tuesday the 4th and in the back I have kindergarten information oh don't Monday um home basket it is which doesn't mean we can't miss it but missing plenty of those already this year if possible um what about so what if we go to the week before and do the 30th is that feasible for your staff Thursday the 30 yeah that no oh no that won't work sorry what if we um Thursday the 6th I have preschool information um we could do Wednesday the 5th I don't know what's going on we don't have to skip Wednesdays for me just because of religion one or two Wednesdays here and there is fine would that work because we don't have anything yeah I mean just that one time you can make it it everybody else all right so we'll do Wednesday the 5th at 6m February February could be adjusted to 6:30 I'm sorry but I do have a confence on Wednesdays until until about 6:15 yeah if we could adjust is 6:30 then that would that would work excellently I have no 6:30 p.m. um and then policy committee we said it was going to be on the 4th so January 22nd y That's What I count I count January 2 jary 2 yep o' and 2m and then same thing new right that and then the February regular meeting will be February 10th at 6m all right anything else the only other thing I have is everybody has this sourcewell ballot in front of them so on page two is the voting thing if you like there's only one member uh this Doug dber for fouryear term unless you want to do a right in um but I'll take we'll take all six of these and uh send them back to send them back to sourc so um that's the that's the ticket to get out of here I guess tonight what do we do about the election of officers go basically we just uh keep going so uh does anybody want to change their vote for chair does anybody want to change their vote for vice chair okay so we'll keep going we'll do the same uh open nominations at the next meeting and we'll keep doing it every meeting basically thee not work session in situation such as this is there ever um feasable work around like as in co-chair not for co-chair not because the chair has so many different things that they're responsible for that it can't really be a CO thing I think a vice chair could be yeah because they don't sign no Shar CS andas that's during that training that was the one thing that said was can't do a yeah feel like know I'll ask what the repercussions are of that what what would change ask V essentially couldn't you delve the duties out couldn't the two chairs sit down and delve out responsibilities and then we could dissolve Vice or have to have y those are the only three that you have I'm just I'm just asking questions I don't know I don't know the answer so I was just asking questions to see if anyone else know these answers yep well that's the only that's the only thing I remember from that that training specifically was the co-chair but like I said the head so I'll ask make sure there's not a statute or something or you know if there's a way around that there's a possibility to do a way around it so last anything else we adjourn right I will take a motion to adjourn by director TR I'll second it second by director boy uh all in favor say I I opposed all right motion car
