##VIDEO ID:34RiIgL5Jnw## good morning to everyone again um thank you for your patience and uh being a part um adoption process um I'm not going to prolong the time I'm going to go ahead and turn it over to Lura WN who's our curriculum specialist uh for this adoption present um the materials that we've reviewed Laur thank you Michael C sorry can you just repeat the last two sentences you said it was cut out oh I was saying you you were going to go over the material that we reviewed and the uh the results okay thank you and uh Miss Dr Lawson if you would just show I have a few slides to share um so that everyone can see the data that we collected getting I'm getting there so as a reminder we had three resources that we reviewed um before I go into it I just want to thank everybody for their time um and energy uh that you put into this we really appreciate it um so you can see this is the overall data from our Focus review the data that we collected um you can see that first percentage column says it's the percentage uh that meets or exceeds expectations um so you can see in terms of that piece McGraw Hill um kind of scored top with 96% rating for meats or exceeds expectations and this is the overall rating um I listed the vendors in alphabetical order and you can see going down uh National Geographic Su guge and Ramsey we kind of neck and neck with meats or exceeds um but we see that the Ramsey um something that kind of stands out there is the Ramsey book there is a percentage that does not meet expectations so we'll I'll elaborate that elaborate on that in just a moment but this is our overall data and Dr Lawson if you would advance to the next slide please thank you um as you know the feedback you were asked to provide was broken down into three different sections so you can see in the columns on the top there um the first three um pertain to content the next three pertain to presentation and the last section was learning so just as a reminder content counts as 50% of this review presentation has the um smallest waiting if you will presentation counts for 20% and learning counts for 30% So within that you can see the breakdown here of the data we collected from the the focused review um so in terms of content you can see how each vendor um or each resource performed uh and then we know that content counts for 50% of that um so again as as would match the the data from the previous Slide mcra Hill in terms of content um really for each of these pieces finished um higher than the other two and again reflective of that first slide Ramsay has is the only of the three um resources that did um was ranked with some does not meet expectations so I just want to give you a second to a few seconds to look at this data and kind of absorb keeping in mind content is 50% presentation 20% and learning 30% of the waiting for our evaluation okay so moving beyond the data Dr Lawson if you would just thank you I just wanted to provide um I wanted to let you see some of the comments that were entered um for each vendor so I'm not going to read them word for word but you can get an idea of the feedback from um our our school committees um so the first one again we're going in alphabetical order is for McGraw Hill um content is presented well in a way that's beneficial to high schoolers and then Dr Lawson we have a few other bullet points that we can put on here um for our district committee here to see and then we have one more slide for mcra Hill with our feedback so I think it was the content piece especially and the learning piece that stood out for some of our uh committee members that were attracted to the McGraw Hill resource okay if we could move on to the next please we have National Geographic sagee and here is some of our school committee feedback and for Nat goo Sage with there um to a degree there were some mixed reviews um the um there was a concern with the reading level for the suagee book um and the kind of the presentation the athetics um I I think someone mentioned a lot of white space on this one um but there were there were still a few people who really thought this one was their Top Choice okay and if we can move on to the next so our feedback our specific feedback for Ramsey um was varied and if you recall from the data there was some feedback some concern about um if you could put a few more bullet points up there thank you um there was some concern from committee members with some of the content in Ramsey um and we know that content receives the the highest waiting as 50% of the feedback um and the concerns had to do with the correlation to our standards for credit mostly I believe and a few other things and um bias and objectivity um Ramsay did receive um feedback that the presentation the more Aesthetics of the book are good U but that the content was um questionable to some and I think we have one more slide for Ramsay with feedback or was that it I'm sorry okay I'm sorry I missed the this the slide forwarding so that was our school committee feedback um I did have a few people ask um about some features um for these and so I just wanted to share a very very brief um kind of pro and con um from taking into consideration the print text and the online accompanyment for teachers and students um the uh Sage book offers a lot of or I'm sorry the mcra hill book I'm going to start with alphabetical the mcra hill book offers um a lot of supports especially in the online piece um they have the read to piece the changing the font size where students can highlight and annotate um they have teachers have an option to change um the online piece to approaching grade level for reading levels um or above grade level actually um and there there are just kind of a lot of online features for the ET text and some of the online pieces for mcra Hill that the others don't have um sorry uh and then moving on yes um the public may have missed that first um slide from Ramsey so I'm going to go ahead and um display it again so we make sure everyone is able to see all the information sure I'm sorry about that this is slide one okay thank you right so we had some mixed reviews um again most of the the positive feedback was for the presentation side of Ramsey the um Aesthetics and the chunking of text I think um H but we do have some concerns about content with Ramsay and a few people specifically mentioned the pieces um their approach to credit um and question the um bias and objectivity in this resource I'm going to go ahead and show that second slide just one more time to make sure everyone has had the opportunity to see it sure thank you sure okay I shared some pros and cons of uh the McGraw Hill book and so National sunate National GE geographic s gauge um some of the pros and cons um they they don't have as many online features as McGraw Hill seems to have with interaction with the eex they do have some um but they do in their text have a lot of built-in High School scenarios um it's very much uh the content is with high schoolers in mind um all uh sorry the Ramsey book um again the presentation is um aesthetically pleasing um but there is question about um if the content is presented objectively um and there seems to be some contradiction with a few of our standards for example standard 5.9 um the online accompanyment um for ramsy um the videos are mostly TED Talks whereas the others are kind of more of a um um what's the word I'm looking for I'm sorry um your traditional kind of learning approach to a video um in terms of professional development I had a few questions about that um ramsy uh provides online support um a total of six hours per year um mcra Hill is a bit more flexible with their PD and can do iners and National Geographic send gauge is is basically unlimited support for teachers in terms of professional development and professional learning um they can one-on-one online um at a specific teachers request and they can come out um to our district to provide uh support in person as they have um so that brings me to another point um really quickly and then I will move it along to um our MS Department um our something to consider as some of you mentioned um uh we do have um National Geographic sagee as our adopted resource for our other core High School courses including economics and because so many of you asked I wanted to make sure you knew that the National Geographic Sage platform for the personal financial literacy is the same as it is for what we currently have for economics I know that that was a question that was commonly asked so I wanted to make sure um I clarified that okay and that is the information that I have to share um so Dr Lawson or uh Mr Israel I will hand it back off to you all right Dr Lawson if you want to I'll facilitate the vote thank did you want to ask for input prior to the vote or do you want me to launch the vote prior to the input I'm sorry are there any questions or comments um in regards to the presentation Miss W um would you like the members to give provide input regarding the resources Kim can you repeat that again I'm sorry I'm I'm there's background noise where I am yeah no no worries I was just wondering if you wanted to um if you had any questions for the committee members or if you um wanted to receive input from the um points of contact here as a part of this presentation or did you want to move um straight to the vote I I think we can um let's see if anybody has any questions or concerns from our committee while while we have the opportunity there are no hands raised or questions in the chat okay I see that as an indication that we're ready to move forward okay as a reminder teachers and community members are the only ones who will be participating in the vote I'm going to launch the vote you should see it on your Zoom screen if you are watching our live stream I will read the results of the vote out loud for all right I have votes from all of the teachers and community members in our meeting I'm going to end the poll if you are in our Zoom meeting you will see the results on your screen if you are watching the live stream I'm going to read the results aloud we have the Florida focus on personal financial literacy from McGraw Hill has six of nine votes at 67% foundations and personal finance Florida 2024 standard and honors from Ramsey education had zero of nine votes managing your personal finances from National Geographic learning Sage had three of nine votes at 33% all right so with that being said we thank every your participation this morning and for logging in and being patient um as we work through all the technical difficulties um Miss W do you have any final remarks no I just just would like to reiterate my thanks I appreciate the time that teachers and school committees um spent with this process so thank you all right everyone we Mr Israel I just wanted to mention that I was able to uh screenshot the results and um exhibit them for the live stream okay so community members should be able to see the official results on their um live stream as well right perfect thank you so much as lawon for facil technical support we appreciate you we appreciate everyone you have a great day we do have one question um in the in the chat that I did want to address and um as a part of our process yes we do submit the top two choices to the school board for consideration remember this vote is for a recommendation to the school board because the school board adopts um material not this committee we thank you so much for your participation and we'll submit those top two and um following the state adoption and the availability of resources will determine what will be purchased for the upcoming school year guys have a great week thanks so much thank you
