thank you I'm going toite Mr SCH up to present this month students on the one good evening Mr ball Mrs torella members of the board members in our audience Tonight Tonight our students of the month have come highly recommended by their teachers and demonstrate many of the values that we hold in high regard within our school these values include respect responsibility effort and empathy as I present each student with their certificate this evening you will clearly see how they demonstrate these values and all that they do to add to our school Community the sixth grade student of the month for May is meline Lawrence Maddie stated that her favorite subject area is language arts Maddie indicated that she really enjoys her teacher and the fun activities that they have worked on throughout the year Maddie is an active young lady outside of school participating in basketball soccer Dance and Gymnastics and is looking forward to continuing these Sports in the future matti's teacher stated the following matd exemplifies the definition of a conscientious responsible dedicated and capable student she is a hard worker who cares about her own learning and most definitely is a perfect example for others to follow Maddie has a great skill set for all subjects and is self-driven learner with coping skills to conquer anything that comes her way it is with great pride that I introduced Maddie as the sixth grade student here you go there congratulations congratulations all right the sixth grade student of the month for June is Lillian aragona Lily is an exceptional student who participates in our National Junior Honor Society as well as our band and chorus here at SMS outside of school Lily enjoys photography horseback riding raising seeing eye dogs and working on her family farm Lily's teacher stated the following Lily embodies the SMS values of respect responsibility effort and empathy Lily is a role model for her peers she remains on task at all times and goes above and beyond what is expected in the classroom not only does Lily exceed class expectations she is always seeking out guidance for how to make her work even better Lily is eager to learn and showcase her critical thinking skills in class daily and she is a mature and empathetic be on her years it is with great pride that I introduce lily as the June sixth grade [Applause] student I'm G to jump to eighth grade in eth grade our student of the month is jayen manino jayen is an excellent student who truly loves school so much so that she hopes to someday become a language artist teacher teacher jaylen's teacher stated the following the e8th grade selects jayen for student of the month she was chosen because of her positive caring and infectious attitude she is always respectful to her teachers and is a pleasure to have in our classes jayen is a conscientious student who helps the teachers and her peers whenever she is asked to always checks in on the progress of her work and asks for help when she needs it she embodies the notion that when things don't come easy to you you still have to try and give your best of effort she will be missed by all as we say goodbye to jayen and she continues to follow her passion for cheater and education I have no doubt that she will continue to find great success she has a skill set and an attitude that will continue to lead her to Great achievements and we all look forward to watching her along way it is with great pride that I introduced jayen as the eth grade student in [Applause] I'm going to take some time to just read through two seventh grade students a month I don't see them here tonight but we have a May recipient and a June recipient the seventh grade student of the month for May is Matthew Shepard Matthew is an active young man who enjoys playing baseball and basketball Matthew has also enjoyed being part of the SMS track team this year and can be found on the slopes in the winter time Matthew is hoping that his passion for sports will ultimately lead him to a career someday Matthew's teacher stated the following when nom Matthew is a kind and respectful young man who not only completes his work to the best of his ability but who also thinks of others Matthew will help other students in need even when he is not asked to do so by his teacher Matthew is polite to everyone throughout our building and makes it a point to say hello to his teachers in the hallway and wish them a good day it is with great pride that I introduced Matthew as the seventh grade student all right and for June our sth grade student of the month is Easton Hagerty Easton has done an outstanding job in all of his classes this year but demonstrates a particular strength in science and steam classes where he has maintained High A's throughout the year Easton's teachers stated the following from recommending him for student mon Easton is a conscientious student who has been described by his teachers as a hard worker teachers also point out that Easton has experienced substantial growth from last year East participates in class and volunteers feedback on on a daily basis it is clear that Easton's grades are important to him and that he wants to do his work to the best of his ability every single day he is a great classmate to all of his peers throughout each day it is with great pride that I introduce East Hagerty as the sth grade student [Applause] mon thank you Mr Schwarz and congrat congratulations again all of our recipients uh as always we love to have you in attendance for our duration of the board meeting if you don't want to stay for that which is perfectly okay take a little intermission now and you feel free to thank you thank you very much [Applause] just report out a couple items you know it's academics are a little slower in the summertime um because no students are here but next uh after July 4th we're looking forward to starting our summer program couple of the bigger facility jobs are underway so we're replacing the front steps at wers school if you drive by and it looks in a interesting situation that's what we're doing and the auditorium STS that lead out onto the front of the building those are being replaced as well so you see total Demo there in both places we're hopeful those will be completed by the end of July uh new prek expanded playground going in at the lawen school so you see that's what's going on there if you drive by um and just to make Community aware I can't I don't recall if I talking about it last time but working with the recreational Committee in Sussex burrow Council we secured a sage uh funding opportunity a grant in the amount of $72,000 that we're going to use to written up to enhance the front uh field of Sussex Middle School so um about 50,000 dedicated towards like that baseball area and then another 22,000 and their abouts dedicated to soccer basketball we soon enhance that so I specifically want to thank the board the council sboro um and Mr Ben Cudi for kind of steering us towards that opportunity and working with me on it uh so thank you that's all thank you Mr before we move on to audience remarks I just wanted to say congratulations to our eighth graders who just graduated I unfortunately was unable to make it to graduation so I just wanted to say congratulations to those students um so at this time when because they were phenomenal it's a bonus for Sparta and I had services to receive both of those nurses I also see on the agenda tonight that they were replaced and I'm very disappointed Mr G and Stephanie henan why I wasn't included in those interviews I've always been included when we're hiring nurses I've been here for I'm on my 26th year and I was not asked I was not aware that anything
