##VIDEO ID:7zrdn-RhP3w## all right uh let's bring this meeting to order at 3:15 and we have roll Call's here's here El is here Baker's here J's here and Carol Swinger's here right moving on to minutes has everybody had a chance to go over them let see if there's any corrections C [Music] I I Haven done like spell check or anything like that that's why you have to send backs I'm s doing that I'm just I just want you to see the base that I have y so I'm not doing it but I do it so it's not so much back and forth that you didn't say very that I had a question about 4.2 yes how we um about the insurances I thought Integrity could not help no they can they can that's the difference [Music] and after all that sh us really really did they say why oh I have a letter yeah Y and I Can Read It Shine the shine person left oh yes I'll read the letter maybe we get to that part in the agenda yep were they up we were keeping two no is everybody finished with a minutes okay any questions or Corrections talk about last week or this week last night so okay so if we have nothing I have a motion I'll make a motion accept minutes second all in favor 2.0 so since I don't often have a budget update I printed out this piece of paper with the orange highlight in there and I I guess I just for to that today I was just focusing on our Municipal budget and um so you can see there are 1 two three four five six seven different categories highlight in Orange repair and maintenance Professional Services communication office supplies other supplies training dues and membership and the budget is what um you can see in the first um one two three third column over is the budget that we started with and then what we have left now so um the spend column is particularly interesting like we 40% spent through our repair and maintenance budget Professional Services is 84% but it's okay because those were some large um expenses that we expected so we're actually doing pretty well um five months into the year uh we're optimistic that there's not going to be any problems um yeah so that's just kind of kind of where we are um the training is 100% spent because we went to the MCA conference conference the dues and memberships were a lot because that's the MCA membership that's the dues for my senior center and for the aset program with the library to share the space of the meeting Hall so that's right on point the um Professional Services I think that involves the printer and that's why that is we spent a lot on um wouldn't that be the office yeah so what was the up for um personal is usually the lawyer but who do we pay my senior center that might be my senior center um I'll look it up I'm sorry I should have looked it up a little more closely okay I know it but I'd have to go back and see exactly what falls under it if I looked in there's a spreadsheet with all of these separate categories so if I did that I would see exactly what we spent under each category okay um so I know it but I don't know it by heart is this for July to July yes never remember which are January oh yeah yeah this is July until the end of June J 2025 but if anyone had any particular questions I could bring that to the next meeting if they wanted to know the other July 1st to June 30th yeah okay any questions on this no so 3.0 is old business conflict of interest test okay I met with Genie no I met with her so I could get a room who' you me with oene je oh nice era the program coordinator yeah yes you are da yes so um this is for the conflict of interest now I know Joanne has it done well I've done it before right this is been since I re up I have to do it again no they said once you do it it's every two years yeah she's been years okay just a little bit all right I'm going on my so I have to okay you have to I think we figured out last year I've got another year to go all right anyway you have a list or no yeah am I on the list no all this is okay people other round all right this is a list of rooms because I offer to help you with the computer if you have your own you can bring it in and we can set it up and then you can go through it and if you have any questions I'll be there to answer them okay my question is do you have a list of people no I do not but I know I did M if you think you haven't done it in a while even ask Cathy's offered right to CL or just do it again well it's every two years so if you know you haven't done it in two years did you do it when you first started it's basically I don't think it was a recommendation when you first started I think this is a new recommendation am I wrong about that am I wrong wrong it's not just us it's the entire town that has to do it so don't think we're getting single um no matter what yeah I think I did it on the first group you joined you have to do it and one thing I recommend is know your your email address and your password because they're going to send you a verification I believe to your email and then you open up your email click on the link and then you start taking the test I think that's how it goes yeah does know supp do we end up finding out that was supposed to when did you join probably not quite two years ago um Dad definitely left before I started on you came on my three years will be up next year I just don't know yeah well let's everybody do it and then we'll go from there every two years we'll all do it together F so what talked about was Monday mornings is that a problem for anybody for what okay we're gonna do the conflict of interest and I'm trying to book a room so that we can all bring in your own computers or we'll have computers here you just need to know your email address and your password yep if you're bringing if you're using so I have Monday mornings Tuesday Morning tues Thursday at 1230 what about Monday and Tuesday Monday is anytime Tuesday is 10 to 12 Monday um in December I get it from yeah 10 to 12 um and Thursday we can have it 12:30 to 4 so November's almost over so forget that one but it's the same thing for December okay what was I know I know Monday mornings from 10 to 12 you said morning Monday you said anytime well that I know I was reading that there but that was for November okay so now it's 10 to 12 like Tuesday no 10 to 12 on Monday Monday okay we got that 10 to 12 on Monday 10 to 12 on Monday 10 to 12 on Tuesday yeah that's we said Thursday 12:30 to 4 yeah very good so now you got to tell me which day we can all get together or and Jo doing onine I do okay yeah okay this is just for people that need do they have the link of how to find it do you know how to find it yeah I have the link so I will you can send it to me I will send it to you okay can you send it to Jo send it again of course she just can't loc it thank you we appreciate that very much we got okay so then that lead you three okay so you're all set I know an has still yeah that's three years you got to do it every two years I I had looked up when I came in last time I knew when I joined my but but I thought I didn't need to do it inste I might as well wait the extra year rather than take it right but I double check with the town clerk yeah we have to take it every two years oh okay town but our appointments go every 3 years so why did they do that why they just keep it well like once three years so am I the only one on this side take it it and I know an Ann's gonna take it so I don't know where she is but except you picking Monday I mean that's fine with me that's what you're supposed to let me know Monday Tuesday or Thursday I would prefer Monday or Tuesday but I can do it any day what about you Monday's good Monday's good [Music] good M Monday isay do December [Music] Monday do it the 16 December 16 [Music] moving on to 4.0 new business MCA conference feedback so uh Donna Fenton who's our techen manager and volunteer coordinator and Jean era who's the program coordinator and myself went to the MCA conference and I asked them both to give a little write up so we can share with you what they learned so this is from Jean she said hi Elise I want to let you know how much I enjoyed the MCA conference instalment it was my first conference and and it exceeded my expectations I enjoyed meeting other COA staff it was beneficial to share thoughts and ideas with people across the state some of the programs I attended included happiness at any age benefits of mindfulness and aging financial protection and empowerment for older adults and Basics basics of estate planning more the my senior center training sessions I attended were very helpful I especially enjoyed the keynote speaker Carrie stack who talked about the positive impact we have on older adults we serve it was a nice reminder of why we do what we do here at the Town Senior Center and to remind ourselves that we are here to bring joy happiness and support to our members thank you for allowing me to attend this conference that was really nice yeah and I I want from Don Fenton as well um um the MCA conference provides valuable information to Massachusetts senior centers my classes included mindfulness and meditation team building self- leadership wills and trust computer programs which is my senior center cannabis for seniors planning menus cost and nutrition costs and nutrition all these programs provided me with valuable information to share with staff and seniors it was a nice it was nice to have time to focus on learning networking and team building with my co-workers thank you for the opportunity to attend and it was it was a nice it was a very nice positive environment this year not that it wasn't last year but I really felt it this year and yeah we really enjoyed it whole team three of us three of just three Jean Donna and myself Donna y yes and Je Jean ER and and me you know me right I known yeah all went well we did yes yes very NOP sorry that's all right so are you going to implement new things yes yes we are we um it's also just it revives you it gives you more passion to continue doing what you're doing just to be the the best you can for the seniors and to remember that we're here to make them as happy as we can I think that's the main thing I take out of it just kind of re-energizes you um but yes um I think we do we all bring back a little bit in little ways we uh incorporate into our days yeah the wills and trust that was a little I can't incorporate that like we learned a bit about that but I'm not a lawyer but it was interesting to learn about it good all right 4.2 shine update okay so we know that David Chanel left and here's the letter that I got from the regional shine director she said Alise I appreciate that the board members recently met with David Chanel represent the shine program based on discussions with David and the result of this meeting I spoken with our state shine director at the executive office of Elder Affairs this is the state organization that supports the administration of the shine program we feel it is best for the shine program to relocate to a different site so that consumers are clear about the services shine offers versus sales agent Brokers it would be appreciated if you could remove shine from the town's website alongside integrity so that's that Sarah covered his he had had a couple Fridays that he already had they were filled with people and Sarah came in and covered it for him and so no one lost their appointments in the process that's yeah yeah oh shine no sh they been here for a long time shine shine was here what I learned shine was here up until Co and then we lost shine because of Co and then it took a little while to get that's when we brought the Integrity Medicare advisors in they came in filled that that Gap um until last year when I first started they had a new shine representative and that was David who came in um and wasn't happy with having both Services here the whole time he was here yeah know how to nicely all right uh 4.3 Farm Grant new yes so we got I don't know if it's in our account yet but I was notified from um um the ex executive office of Elder Affairs that we have right now according to the 2020 census we have 2,361 seniors in Townson how many 2361 that's the 2020 census so it's probably more um so that means that we um are given $15 per senior so the half so in total we get [Music] $35,100 1,77 so that's that's the first half of the formula grant for this fiscal year 17707 and 80 cents if you want to be so that's very good because that goes towards wages for us right now we're paying staff members what is that Grant that's a formula grant that every town receives according to how many seniors are living in the town dis in whatever area they want it it's we can use it really for whatever we want we choose to use it for wages okay for the staff no yeah all right 4.4 LRTA be a free grant yes the LRTA received a grant and they're will be no Rider fees from December 1st through September of 2025 everyone can ride the van for free except for special trips we're allowed to collect money for special trips send until what until September 2025 so that's that's great news for people yes does that include September or not I believe it is through September um September 30th W I know excuse me it's huge yeah the bus and don't worry about it yeah [Laughter] that's very good uh 4.5 Meals With Friends survey to get we we relased we released a survey this week uh to the people who attend the meals asking them what they like what they'd like to see more of and then next week we plan if we can get get it ready in time we plan to do a survey for all the classes the people who don't necessarily attend lunch to see what would bring them in what would they like to see what would they like to eat just to um I think it really seems to be based like Tuesday I think we had maybe you know less than 12 people but tomorrow we have um like 25 and so it might be really based on the meal what they like to eat so we're trying to find um what they want to eat more of so that we get more people's what's the meal that's com I think it was I think it was actually today and I think it was meatballs sish yeah that that was a busy one yeah chicken tomorrow maybe not I can't remember l oh is that what it is tomorrow I are Thursdays usually heavier than yes typically they are CU I go every Thursday with that is the heaviest day Tuesdays seems to be the slowest day I don't know why but when you're only making for eight people we'd like to you know make that higher we want to add another day so we don't want to we like to get more numbered more people we're going to add another day I think it is I think it is yes what they I think it's a choice between Monday and Friday asking them what they prefer I should have brought a survey I'm sorry I can go grab one it's on Don's desk sure so we can see it Alles yes yeah I know although we have some good news once a while yeah all right I can read you the questions uh how would you rate this meal program overall you get a choice of five you know excellent very good there four would you recommend this meal program to a friend do you eat healthier food because of this meal program as a result of coming to the meals do you see your friends the reason I enjoy coming to lunch are you got food friends other programs welcoming atmosphere uh what kind of foods would you like to see more of on the menu we listed a bunch of different things what type of drink do you enjoy with your meal if we added a meal on Monday would you attend so yes yes I think Monday is a better day to add a meal for us on Friday everyone's tired by Friday so that's that one and then we're going to do a tweak it and do a little differently for people who are not coming to the meals to see what they would like to have them come to meals I think that's a good thing yeah you know the result and the results are in do I have oh I do have a 4.6 if that's okay or I can wait till Topic's not reasonably anticipated if you want okay and plus of that will go up to5 January yes wait a minute where are yeah we voted on that one that was coule months ago yeah it's GNA go up in January $5 no you did oh get a dollar back okay so we want to add a 4.6 and I don't know if this is something you need to vote on but the holiday fair is December 7th and um typically we have a van operating all day long um to drive the vendors from the far parking lot to here and drop them off and then people we all day long the van's going back and forth to take people from because the parking gets all filled up here so we have to park down at the old swano school but I'm wondering if do we does the sea board need to vote to approve the van running on that day is it December December 7th and the friends will pay the friends of a library and the friends of the seniors will pay the dve with two drivers they'll pay for them to drive that day it's a Saturday it's a Saturday yeah I know long day I I would say they should be Pa well they will be paid by know if you I didn't know if the COA board needed to approve the use of the van I'm not sure yeah so they and they said yes okay so it's nothing to do with the COA board then no okay all right no we just the build open okay all right good thank you that was it then that part great do you have any reports from uh the friends yes um and I may have mentioned this already I think I did last time well the one thing in January the friends membership will be going up to $10 per person so that's one thing and they're going to be doing this basket raffle that's going on out here they're going to choose the winners after dessert at the Thanksgiving dinner on November 25th if you're not here that's fine we'll keep keep your ticket aside and we'll call you but that's when they're going to give away you know announce the winners that's about it from them right now oh there's an you have some stuff right here an thank you C hands on the back of my I like to catch you up and catch me up yeah because we're on 6.0 anybody want to bring up anything who anybody have any questions or concerns Monday Tuesday but Monday morning was picked already right yeah I think Monday December 16th right Monday de 16 Monday December 16 and and you're the one that we yeah I will be here to help you oh is it crooked no we need to lock wheels and oh well I don't know what do you do there's only three of you only three we have three computers here okay and you need your email and your password yeah so that's what you need very nice my email and password did we set a time for that yes it's at 10 to 12 and it's 10 to 12 sorry THS was if you were helping us at the same time I didn't know if you were going to be here anyway orus well you'll each be on your own computer so it's best if you're not all probably doing same time are off you're be hearing everyone else you can plug in and you canar you sending them the link you can try and do it at home and see if you can do it yourself I think I did it at home last time don't they don't if you don't put in the right answer don't they they tell you yeah on the botom and you move on to the next one yes yes you used to go I'll tell you later so if you want to do it at home just let me know and you have one we'll be done yeah all right think I have um she did give us a new paper with all our names and phone numbers and emails very nice I do know's not here yeah we're gonna have think the other ones want to V her in since she was reinstated here she's only made one meeting I yeah that pretty much stes it yeah they said if you miss more than three in a [Music] row wece for do that last I'm not sure is that your role I'm you don't have to on was second attempt well you gave we gave her one more yes I know and yes we it no no pick juice yes yes yeah s girkin email is pickle juice oh that's cute that would have been cute all right so it has been brought up about Natalie she's missed one more meetings because you gave her um in a or what do we call the well sorry Miss four meetings and according to our policy if you missed three meetings in a row then miss yes she came I I think after she resigned up the second time she came the first time and that was it you're right she did come but then she missed the following week and now not here again so it's still consecutive gave period they nov okay so all people in uh in favor of letting Natalie go I guess that wasn't tired that's how I get tired I get silly can I yes because half time let's why don't you say it out loud everyone can write it on their sheets your local number we need to finish this oh sorry sorry what are they doing to you okay so all in favor so notes I'm wri voted to remove Natalie three that's what the policy was okay she wants to come back a third [Music] time minute now what is is that your home that's my home phone get never so who would like to make a motion a motion time to second that motion we're all gonna go take na it's because it gets so dark so early terrible it's 7 o' I'm like is it 10 is time for bed know and the next meeting is yep really I
