every new school year brings a new excitement a new energy um looking forward to all the things that are going to occur all the great changes that we're doing um that are going to positively impact our students and our staff and I I'm looking forward to this year as being another great year in violent Public Schools the best school district in the state of New Jersey thank you have a good night Mr foke nothing at this time Mr Costa um I'm just going to Echo in Mr Rivera's comments um wishing all the students the very best of luck as they uh begin their new school year early September um I am sure that students are looking forward to the new school year but they still have a couple of weeks of summer so um thank you so much to Central Administration for working so hard to ensure that our students um are going to start off on the right foot from day one thank you Mr medo no comment Mr Bono Echo off of both my fellow board members I wish uh everyone a very successful school year for 2024 2025 year I know of a lot of administration is currently working very very hard indigen uh um very hard to make everything as easy as possible for the incoming students um and our administrators are working hard as well um i' just like to thank uh the historical committee again for 150th anniversary of the VHS we had a very successful event the other day at uh V High School South um celebrating 150 years of success within the city of violent I wish everyone would have had had attended it was an excellent event and very proud moment for Ron High School um and again thank you for all the hard work welcome the new solicitor uh to the board thank you for for helping us out thank you Mr Holmes yes good evening uh I Echo the sentiments of my fellow board members looking forward to a great school year visiting schools uh this September also want to remind everyone about out Monday the 26th um for the back to school Extravaganza that we're looking forward to that I'll be there from 10 to 1 at katone so uh enjoy the last few couple weeks of Summer and I'll See You in September in school thanks superintendent yes just a few celebrations and highlights uh the 150th anniversary event for vanon high school was excellent uh it was wonderful to learn a little bit more about the history of our high school and the community that supported uh just the great product that we've been pushing out at bonon high school so it was a wonderful event and thank you to uh our board members who are in attendance and for their support I also want to Echo uh some of the comments about August 26th Our Extravaganza is coming up very soon Monday 10 to 1 pm it's going to be amazing I believe we have over I don't know 50 vendors and school tables Raffles uh many Community Partners are joining us so that is Monday 10 to 1 p.m. I also want to make sure everyone's keeping an eye on our social media Pages you know we are making many announcements we're putting out a lot of positive content our schools are uh organizing their orientation uh sessions for their kindergarteners and uh welcoming new students to their school so thank you Parent Portal is now open if you go into the parent portal you will see your child's bus route and their current schedule or teacher assignment if available so again Parent Portal is open make sure you log in and you can take a look and see uh what our school has in store for your children first day of school for our students is the 5th please arrive on time and make sure you get to your bus stop a little bit early uh to help accommodate some arrival times our staff is coming back on the third welcome back our teams have been working all summer long to make sure that our buildings are ready to receive staff and students I know it's going to be an amazing amazing time I also wanted to just make sure to note uh in public that we have a district policy 2431 called athletic competition uh the course this uh policy lays out uh student athletes and limitations that are in line with the njsiaa requirements we have a district regulation listed as 2431 entitled extracurricular activities uh it I am announcing tonight that I would like to eliminate uh District regulation 2431 because it imposes a higher level of restriction on our student athletes than is required by the njsiaa uh we will continue to move forward and follow policy 2431 athletic competition uh and follow the requirements for participation in inter Scholastic athletic programs as designated by the njsiaa there's no need to add additional obstacles to students participa in sports because we know the power of our Sports programs and keep kids engaged in school athletic competitions we had a student uh who has a 1.9 GPA who would be excluded under the current regulation from participating in Fall Sports this regulation um limits the number of students who can participate our competing districts do not have that similar obstacle in the way so if you had a c minus GPA you would not be allowed to participate so we're going to eliminate that hurdle and make sure our kids are staying in tune and of course achieving great academic you know achievements in our school district but wanted to announce that today since it is a regulation it doesn't require a vote uh so there are no changes to the policy District regulation 2431 will be removed from our website hopefully by tomorrow thank you yes I I'll share the that policy the regulation page with the with the board members yes i' just like to welcome everyone back in a couple of weeks so everyone still enjoy the next couple weeks of your summer I want to Echo what my fellow board members have said um to our to our Administration uh thank you guys especially Central um you've been working very very
