##VIDEO ID:qZczVu72k8M## all right you guys are live all right good morning it is 7 o' in the secondary school media center call the meeting to order and we'll start with a pledge of allegiance I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible liy and justice for roll call Gross here Porter here Sans that is not with us sour here here Josh here and Vincent here uh we don't have any public with us this morning um looking at the agenda you'll see there's a a modification 5.2.3 point1 um adding Barbie to from assistant cook to cook as she Subs at at North El at North and is there any other additions or corrections to the agenda look for a motion to approve don't move and a second all in favor say I I motion carries uh brings us to our committee reports we'll start out with the msba conference report who's going to start with that one well we uh spent four days or the better part of four days down in in the cities last week uh the common theme down there was that it was taking a drink from a fire hybrant and and they're not wrong there was an awful lot of information that was presented down there I think I came back with with more questions for Miss Brown than I went down there with so um but it was it was very helpful the first two days were spent on the phase one and phase two workshops um lots of basic information on school Finance communication among board members and the superintend that kind of thing um it was really neat that they had us break out into smaller groups here and there um and I was lucky enough to be in a group that had three superintendents in it so there was a lot of lot of good information there um then the next two days were the keynote speakers um different workshops and there's way more information that what you could take in in those two days but uh I would definitely encourage everybody to go it's it's a neat experience the the neatest thing about it was the common goal down there was to do the best for the students I mean nobody was there for personal gain everybody was there for their kids aw thank you I will agree with Ryan it was definitely a fire hose um the the keynote speaker down there was phenomenal um really he had a really great message just you know it's it's all about your impact on the students and how those those students can turn around and and have an impact on you as well um it was it was a phenomenal message um I went to a uh was an AI seminar um and it I was it was a good seminar uh I expected it to be different than what it was um it it was more focused on cyber security than you know like the use of AI in in education but um overall it was a it was a good good seminar um and then I attended the uh Minnesota State High School league meeting as well and um they put on a lot of lot of information that I you know wasn't aware of um and they talked a little bit about you know boys volleyball and girls wrestling which are you know up and coming so that was good to good to hear that they were focused on that kind of stuff as well and the exhibits you know they had uh they had some really cool exhibits and I could I could talk way too long on you know everything that was there but it was it was a awesome awesome week so good I I would concur with them it was excellent and you know the finance piece is intense but at least I feel like maybe I have enough background information to ask a question that I wouldn't have known to ask before good Mr brono did you uh I have mine of myself superintendent we'll we'll move on um any questions for them that went down is there any good food down there always you get lured into the the vendors were there for that yeah yeah cookies from Ellers yeah yeah perfect all right uh Task Force update and I think the last two that attended were Ryan and CLA well um you know the task force has been well attended and I think I I engagement I agre there really good I think there was a piece when we looked at the information that maybe we need to spend a little more time thinking specifically about elementaries um and that's just I think the natural flow of the conversation that last one maybe leaned a little more towards this building and and I think for when we know what's going on with our structures is probably a really good idea for us to try and spend some more time figuring out how we're going to address those needs and I thought that uh the ment meter piece was really oh yeah really neat I mean it was a way of people giving their opinions anonymously in in real time so it was basically a survey in real time that was that was a really neat deal yeah kind of allows you to speak your mind without having to speak your mind awesome yeah and I think the one thing that we want to make sure I think for this next meeting which is this evening is just that Clarity piece right of what our guiding principles pillars we got to find one name of what we're going to call those we had also attended a school board's um convention had uh Rockridge I went to theirs on how they passed the referendum and then uh Claire uh Ryan and I went to the one from Bold and bold went from an 81% failure rate to a 66% passing rate and so a lot of it sounded like communication kind of making sure that they have those guiding pillars I think is what they called their is to say hey what is the role of the task force so I think we're still working towards that piece there we still have some important data to collect from our demographer study um which is I think very close to being done so we'll have that information and just looking for that long-term solution so I think that was we just want to make sure that there's Clarity and I know I kind of visited with WTH Representatives down at the school boards Convention as well as we met on Monday I think and just kind of said boy want to make sure that things don't get cloudy in the middle that we still know what our focus is that we can get that work done we have a limited number of meetings and like Claire said we have great attendant I think we've always had well over 20 people um attending those pieces with some good feedback and just want to make sure we're pressing forward on that um on that topic are there two that are available to go this evening anybody yeah I can go Nathan I can go but I've been a lot so do you want to go or no you go ahead if you can go or if you I could go to it either way you guys can Paper Rock Scissors if you'd like to go how about you that work okay well that cas all right Claire and Nathan Nathan Ryan that's right Nathan and Ryan Perfect all right well that brings us to our superintendent report so kind of already touched on the task force with our what we've kind of been through still working on that Clarity just to make sure everybody understands the goals moving forward uh that way we do have our next meeting we have a meeting tonight at six o'clock and just as a reminder to our community uh that everything can be found on the website for our agendas minutes and any documents that have been shared so if there's people who would like to see where we're at that definitely they can ask our task force members as well um just to see how that process is going uh we do have our next meeting February 3rd and then tentatively they've looked at a February 26th meeting again at 6m here in the media center leadership conference again echoing just exactly what Josh Claire and Ryan said I think they were very clear seemed like this time they really focused on policy and governance in both phase one and phase two uh was really just a piece kind of that model of how boards are supposed to um kind of manage come together with superintendent to do different things that way so they did a lot with that um I just think kind of some of those sessions too well like you said the keynote speakers both the opening and closing um were very good if you didn't have a Kleenex close by I think for some everybody was kinding of try to hide those tears especially me once in a while but yeah there's some definite pieces that say these are the important pieces and and really I think both messages came down to love our kids is really what it came down to I think was the Simplicity of the message uh but yeah they both were very motivational I mean the first one I wasn't surprised being a band director this guys are usually pretty motivational but uh but he did an excellent job tremendous saxophone player he he played his saxophone but then also just had some poignant moments I think that really gave some pieces the part that I wished for that opening speaker and I think I shared this with Claire on the way out is sometimes our teachers don't get to hear some of these very good speakers and to me that might have been a it was a good audience for the school board but I that would have definitely been an impactful piece for for teachers now I know some people say well just have them come back up those speakers they know how to charge as well they're very good and so they know what their what their going rate is for that as well but yeah something that was just phenomenal was the speakers and just again having time too to connect with our together as a team I think a little bit just to to give some new information for me to gather some information and things like that was helpful school budget we uh TD I know was meeting with our department heads and building administrators yesterday uh getting some information there trying to really kind of um uh revise our first budget so he talked I know I sat in with the meeting with Chad and so talking about hey where our cleaning supplies any expenses here's where we're trending tracking right now is there going to be any surprises that we need to be aware of um KN on wood so far our um you know our winter hasn't been as Extreme as they initially talked about I mean the last two days were extremely cold today felt really nice getting outside and 21 degrees I think is what I heard on the radio on the way in felt much nicer so we kind of reviewed those pieces there and I know that he met with activities director principales Community Ed uh just getting those pieces and so that'll be our first uh work on the budget is to revise that budget and then we'll move forward to um set a budget for the following school year uh to take care of that 25 26 school calendar we met yesterday as a committee of teachers and administrators and the way the holiday falls next year for Christmas is right in the middle of the week I think Christmas Eve is on a Wednesday and so then it's that dilemma do you go to school Monday half day Tuesday and then of course it ends with New Year's Day being Thursday and we probably don't want anybody coming back on Friday um our early entrance conferences add a little bit of challenge to that as well because we start later I know um uh if you noticed on Monday it didn't seem like there was a whole lot of schools that went to e-learning most of those schools had a professional development day because the end of their semester is the week prior because they don't have early entrance conferences to start the school year so there are some con there were some conversations about do we look at moving those early entrance conferences to that same week that we have our professional development so our back to school Workshop time for our teachers so we're going to put out a couple options uh and the committee is going to bring it back to the teachers to say hey if we start here and do a full week in August with not students but staff early entrance conferences we can then have that two- week break so it be a full two- week break and I think that used to be kind of the norm way back when I was a kid but that's kind of went away from that a little bit and so looking at that so there's going to be a couple options for them to consider and review um and then we'll probably bring that recommendation to the board for discussion at at um the February 5th meeting there as well I know there's been a little bit of conversation too about our e-learning days uh to see you know a lot of schools we heard at the school boards convention that said e-learning is kind of phasing out um just because of the complexity that it brings for uh parents at home and things like that but then there's the offside of that the value of Education you know if you extend that into the summer how does that look as well so that has been kind of a a talking point so we'll probably visit about that more as we go through that again not something that I'll make the decision on that would have to come to the board how we looked at that he- loing plan and it isn't really kind of a negotiations item there too with with our teacher group so hopefully we'll have something ready to go for you at February 5th just to review and then we'd approve that at the the business meeting in February but uh yeah a little bit of a change normally the calendar you just kind of set it out there it just all falls into place but this one with that Christmas holiday makes a difference there buildings and grounds uh committee I know that we've been kind of reaching out on that a little bit so we'll get that set up here uh so we again I think looking for what is the goal here as we're also talking about our other facilities and I think uh one person had mentioned maybe an 18month plan saying hey what are we going to do for the next 18 months let's get that focus and priority of what needs to be taken care of I think that's got to go hand inand with our finance committee to say what dollars do we have available as well for that um which we do have our finance committee meeting next Wednesday um and I believe that I've got that in the minutes here if I didn't uh double up a name there but those folks there maybe you remember right off the top of your head but uh finance committee is Maya Nathan and Josh and so that's going to be next Monday morning at 7:30 Wednesday morning Monday morning I think it's Monday the 27th yeah Monday the 27th yep yep and that's a 7:30 meeting Tod will join us virtually so yet next Monday the 27th at um 7:30 in the morning there so uh would be that piece there so maybe we can figure out then I think uh Chad will be around probably done moving snow this morning that we can try to figure out that buildings and grounds committee meeting before or after we end the meeting here and we can get that posted as well that's everything I have that's it any questions from Mr Brown we were just video for basketball game and I asked them how they did their um they're happy there development days yep and because there's been a lot of I've had a lot of questions before I was even on board prior probably because I was on board Bo but both uh the half days Wednesdays and I mentioned that to you after the meeting and I you explain that maybe if you went to a full day then you couldn't found it as a day full day off did it every other month but down on a video the one thing they said that their parents were complaining quite a bit too and so they move their staff development days to Fridays versus Wednesdays okay and so they'd be off the second half of the day on Fridays and the parents um were pretty supportive of that so I don't know if that's something that you guys have talked about or if there's um have we reached out to our parents to see what they think about this and what they would like to see I think it's a good idea so I think there's two yep because I've heard it's a little easier sometimes for grandparents right all a sudden grandparents can take the grandkids for a longer weekend I also get nervous about the perception so sometimes that's why I keep it off of the Fridays the other reason why we initially because somebody said um asset at our at our calendar meeting we don't have Junior High practices on Friday on Wednesdays so then there's no worry about getting them back or what do we do for that two-hour time frame but it probably would be prudent to survey families and just say hey we realize that's why we kind of do the student supervision up through sixth grade because I realize that that's a huge burden for families all of a sudden you've got the middle of the week but no I think we could definitely survey families I think we're trying to look to reconfigure I mean I there's some people I think that question the value of those days I think they're very valuable um to really move us forward on some of those curriculum pieces that have probably been lacking for the last several years and how do we get that moving forward some instructional practice we just need to make sure that we have a focus there to get that done the right way but maybe that's what we'll do Darren as we'll get a survey out to amilies just to say hey we believe these are a necessary task however what would be easier because I know some people have asked you know what about an early or a late start what if we just started late you know and wait till 10:15 but again I know the biggest reason why we went with the early outs to start with because I'm used to light starts was um Junior High practice I think I think engaging with the with the parents is is a big thing and and explained the value of it so that they know the value and then that eliminates that out of the conversation the junior high part practices I think I think you'll have a hard time justifying that because it's such a small percentage of the entire School population sure yep so um if if it comes down to the concern of how we're going to address you know say 2% of the student population or whatever then that's just something we need to figure out and if if the rest of them are you know if it works better for the for the fig the I think we can do that I think the other piece is Jake put Jake in the next on because we have so many staff that are coaches and if you're going to talk about instructional practices and it's a day that there's football or there's multiple teams going somewhere else we would lose those coaches during some of that PD time on Friday so maybe there's a way we could build a calendar with that in mind if we went for Friday afternoon yeah and I'm not taking would not I'm just proposing that maybe something we ask our parents and the only and one of the reason I asked that is because there is communication on in the public about those days sure and how do we how do we communicate that to them the value and is there a better way for us to do things and we're currently doing if there's not there's not there is there is and like you said getting Jake involved because that's that's a big deal if there's you know if we have games on Fridays on certain Fridays that there is then those teachers would be missing that's not a good deal so we Canin continuous Improvement right so y sounds good all right any other questions then we will move to the approve approval of payment of claims um today we have 53,9 18544 um order M do you have anything for us on those well the total amount is a pretty typical uh value for this time of the year we had uh pmer bus services at $107,000 180 or $7,810 um G&R controls we had a m maintenance contract they are our hbac people and um heat pump people $1,760 for that contract and some repairs from them also for $688 125 um another thing I I picked out of there was a gladfelter public entities that's our insurance company right Paul it is yep $2,718 so and our heating bills um Olsen oil a couple times and dues so it's all dues and Olsen oil in that $3500 range and P Olsen oil one time for $6,300 so so yeah that's uh total checks of $289,500 audit um Clifton Larsson Allen 13,335 so I look for a motion make a motion are you a second second all in favor say I hi motion carries um we go to our consent agenda um just looking at the approval of the meeting minutes um there was one negotiations committee just one typo on that um under the certified staff um so Mr Bron will make that adjustment yep Jay Porter is not part of the group here so and Nathan attending twice all right um otherwise um anything else on those M meeting minutes that were sent out we also have the following um Personnel items Tammy Ward at 0.25 FTE El teacher and can you just touch on that one yep so her hours won't change she's been serving as a parent professional for e um from for six hours and so we're just she's now been able to get an out appeal permission uh in English language at 25% so 25% of the day is going to be about an hour and three quarters so we'll have her as the the teacher and responsible for that program the rest of the time she'll be serving then as a par professional uh still in the e but that during that teaching time it would allow her to do some planning some of the testing and things like that so it'll give her a small increase based on teacher pay at that BS step uh PA Step Zero uh then the rest of the time we'll keep her at our current uh pair professional right there all right and then we also have the lane change for Nicole binsky from ba plus 30 to Ma and and the interim transfer of Barbie Reynolds the assistant cook to a cook step two um and then we also have the final readings of policy 414 the mandated reporting of child neglect in physical or sexual abuse and policy 415 mandated reporting of Mal treatment of vulnerable adults are there any questions on the consent agenda I look for a motion to approve so move and a second second all in favor say I I motion carries that brings us into new business um we have the resolution to accept donations uh the following price scorer $75 for the South Elementary library uh WCA football boosters $57.75 for Section football Transportation uh music boosters um 18560 7 for the State volleyball pep band transportation and the WC volleyball boosters 2790 88 for the State volleyball Transportation um any questions on those look for a motion to adopt that resolution in a second second uh it's a roll call vote gross yes Porter yes sour yes I'll be a yes alri yes and Vincent Yes all right motion passes um then we're going to uh next item is to approve the transfer of $ 61,7 44 from the bus purchase committed funds to the unassigned fund for the purchase of a vehicle we had that discussion about transferring those Transportation funds out is there any discussion comments on that and I look for a motion to approve the transfer Mo and a second second all in favor say I I motion carries um approve the CD terms with Kensington Bank want to give a little info on that Mr I can do that yet the bank just said they needed some board approval uh to say what our plans were with those CDs so remember we have three CDs uh that are in the bank ones for roughly um in the bank asked not to give finite numbers because those change you know based on each day and so some of them are uh coming due um and I think it was two of them are 36 Monon uh term CDs but that was only at 0.55% so we missed some very good interest rates over the last couple years and last one was a 39 or 39 month uh CD so that one doesn't expire until April so that's why I've recommended that we pay the penalty get that into a 3.25% CD for um 48 months which I think is a very favorable rate just because banking institutions aren't sure how long rates are going to stay high um so that would get us you know do better that way and that is part of our committed funds uh for bus purchase remember several years ago when the the buses were sold I think they those dollars were committed into that committed fund but that's all they could be used for so that's why it takes board action for you to uncommit those into the nign so we can purchase that vehicle so when we're done we'll use the 61744 to purchase the uh Ford Expedition Max the remaining dollars in that CD will roll over into and combine it with a one of our other CDs that we have and that'll be at that 3% rate for 12 months and then the larger dollar amount the $155,000 dollar amount will be put at that 3.25% for the for the 48 months still in that committed fund but probably a conversation that the finance committee will have to see how we want to to move forward on that any other questions on that [Music] one that's just signature that's the signature y yep we'll need the signatures so then we look for board approval to be able to sign the CD terms with Kensington bank is there a motion for that and a second second all in favor say i i p same sign motion carries um 6.4 approved the purchase of the 2025 Ford exped ition Max uh we had the conversation between uh Yukon Suburban Max last meeting um recommendation to do the max you've got the yep so the total price is 61774 right now that does not include any trade in we'd be looking to trade in the Impala and there could be some potential you know some transfer license fees and things like that for that vehicle um but this was the the lesser of the two as we looked at that the last meeting by about $67,000 so it was our lowest cost for the vehicle but we do know that down the road that that'll have some cost savings for us for activities some of our special ed we're also looking down the road at a different vehicle for special ed with some wheelchair accessible pieces there um you know that way so that's that's the recommendation there is to look at getting that vehicle now it does take anywhere from three to four months uh to actually get it delivered here they said it'll take a little while and Jake said the one recommend a change that he's going to make is not black but go to White to match rather Fleet all right any other questions comments on that look for motion to approve that purchase so and a second all in favor say I I motion carries um adopting the resolution directing the administration to make recommendations regarding reductions Andor discontinuances of programs and positions for the following school year this is a yearly resolution that we passed yep kind of starts off our annual budgeting process so the teachers will be receiving today the seniority list uh they have met with the the um union leaders at each building uh as a group just to kind of say how do we lay out that process so folks understand it um there was some concern last last year and so this is really the kickoff would be the seniority list just making sure that we have people identified at the proper uh on the proper step of that list you know or date of hire so we will do that and then this is the resolution that's an annual piece for many years it didn't really mean much to anything because we weren't looking to as any declining enrollment or anything like that this will start that process and again an important piece for the finance committee to review um to say okay where is our budget for the upcoming school year do we need to look at reductions in certain programs or staff or things like that and this is really kind of sets off that legal timeline of the resolution that goes out Administration comes forward with recommendations that'll be probably at our February or March meeting and then at the April meeting if any action needed to be taken it would happen at that meeting but I'll get that timeline out for you which is really kind of set by the school boards Association following uh statute and I'll get it out to our staff as well any other questions or comments on that resolution I look for a motion for the resolution and a second second roll call vote gross yes Porter yes sour yes I'm yes rri yes and Vincent Yes all right motion carries any other who made the second sorry about those okay voice after me first all right that brings us to the bottom of our page any other discussion items well just a couple things I know as we go through that resolution accepting donations um I know one of our booster groups the egg booster group and I believe they put something out or are going to but um one of the large donations that we just received was from the fire department Lake Fire Department uh for some of the tools and equipment that is in the shop so I know Mr swatski has worked with his students and that now is a dream in there to see the tools and I think really trying to hopefully attract somebody coming in to say you know because we're looking to potentially fill that position um you know that way and so looking at that to say wow it's organized it's good equipment and so thanks to the El Lake Fire Department it doesn't come across our resolution because I believe it went to the egg boosters and so that's not part of the district piece there but just wanted to make sure we noted that uh illness I'm sure you're aware has kind of hit our district over the last week and I know there was one day we were down school boards conference I think we had 118 out at the secondary school which um did move our game on Friday with all the illnesses there as well so it seems like we're moving into a better Trend that way so I do believe that um the weekend having Monday as an e-learning day helped I think there's still a few that are out and things like that but I know there were some questions couple things one was you know does you ever get to a number where you close school because you've met a certain threshold in the department of Health just says if you get to a point where you can't operate uh the school because you have so many staff out maybe it's Food Service just teaching staff things like that that would be a reason to close otherwise there is no recommendation to close um and then the final piece and I'll get this probably in the paper this week would be whether and I'll make sure we have a clearer piece on the website because there have been some concerns about the decision you know you close school on Monday however you did not close on Tuesday what was the difference um and as you can see schools are all different we had Neighbors on Monday that were still open and had a full day of school um that threshold that I was kind of looking at was anywhere from that 35 to 40 below zero um with windshell and so that's what I kind of kept looking at to see where it was going to be on Monday we exceeded the 40 below windshell of course depends on which weather app you look at because when I was down at school boards convention the one on my phone said we were going to be like at 33 34 I thought that'll be fine but then I started checking acuweather weather.com and that did change for that cold weather so do look at many things consult with other superintendant in our area to see what they're looking to do um and then I guess the reminder to families is the fact that on those bad weather days they ultimately can make the decision as well right they're the parents to keep their children at home so if they believe that that's the best decision on an inclement weather date we would encourage them you know to do that but that's kind of how those decisions are made is looking at the weather usually the National Weather Service will send a peace out especially if it's going to be snowy weather Consulting with other superintendant kind of reviewing and say okay and then also reaching out to the trans Transportation Company saying what can we safely do um you know within our district here and things like that so there's a process that we go through that and I'll just make sure that we explain that so folks understand so we'll get in the paper I might even put something out in an instant alert so families are aware of that I think we have had discussions as well about sports on e e you know e-learning days and you know the one piece was if it was a blizzard you would keep your kids home and the sports would be canceled well we canceled for cold weather and didn't warm up so the idea of the sports were canceled because of that not because the roads were terrible but because we didn't want anybody out on those roads you know one breakdown and a kid in a ditch is not worth a practice so anyway that was a a comment I I heard some people that were happy that those things were also canceled and then there was obviously some that were were not happy that there wasn't practice available or whatever but um you know ultimately it's the decision to close school was to keep kids out of those conditions it's not really any different for a kid going to practice so yeah I think our e-learning conversation a couple years ago I think Mr fene had just said hey if we go to e-learning because it's blizzard and all a sudden one o'clock in the afternoon the Sun comes out the roads are cleared can we make that because my decision before that used to always be if we go to e-learning it's e-learning we're not going to do anything that way but we did have that conversation to say hey if the weather improves so if there's weather Improvement we would look at that unfortunately I think for Monday afternoon the weather got colder it got even worse so you know that way and then you look at it you go okay you step outside they go is it really that cold and then you go up for a little while further and it's like yeah it is that cold yeah it is that cold and just knowing that you know like you said if a bus breaks down our kids traveling and so it's one of those decisions that is painstaking it's not one of those ones you go hey we're going to do this and we start I think CLA and I talked about it on the way back home on Friday when we were in the vehicle talking about a little bit uh on the different pieces so Saturday I was researching to see what the threshold is there is not a clear threshold so you can look out there to see if you're as you saw several metro schools closed yesterday I believe their threshold is 35 below zero as St Cloud South in our area I would say it ranges from 35 to possibly 45 and if you get higher up or Northern Minnesota they're 50 below windchill is what they're looking at um you know that way so there is not a clear because one person say so what is the clear cut and I said I look at that 40 below anywhere from that 35 to 40 visibility all those different pieces and things like that our buses are propane so they don't gel up like diesel fuel so that does help but we still have a large District as well right I mean if a bus I did ask the bus company to say if something happens on the far Northwestern side of the district I rolled that part of the district this summer that's a long ways out there um and if something happens what would be the earliest we could get a bus out there and they said it would take about 15 minutes to get something warmed up and then of course it's going to take us 20 to 30 minutes to get that bus out there so that's a a considerable amount of time I mean the bus is still going to be warm it's not all it goes cold but but it's still something that was considered in that mix doesn't take long they're not well insulated no no and yeah they nor don't get real warm to start with so Dr No I saw some coming in yesterday I'm like they they trust us it's like wow you trust us and now I learned something and our pairs will be going through some training on Friday um which was news to me uh the fact that when a child rides in a car seat you have to take their jacket off because they can slide out of that if the jacket's still on so they're not I mean their jackets in the vehicle you know wrap it over top but we're going to have some of that training so I one of our pairs brought it to my attention I said that's really a rule yeah I think it's a terrible idea but I've seen some cars upside down in the ditch and you're pretty cold waiting for somebody to come get you if you don't have a jacket on so that's I'm not saying anyway yeah so that was goal is to not be upside down you know that's true reality yeah reality is it happens and most when you're upside down most windows don't aren't effective anymore so anyway we'll have to have that conversation at a higher level sounds good um yeah I did get a chance to go into the Egg Shop yesterday and check out the they have made significant you know benefit to that area and and those kids have worked really hard and they're you know they got a much better much better place to get a lot of work you know there's a lot of work to do yet but um definitely a good Improvement there so through funding that Mr swaty yep looked at some grant funding and I think that was one of the pieces too that now I'm digressing but as we looked at the msba that vendor piece I think one of the coolest things was those and I've already shared it with Mr um Hansen just the fact of that table that had the C on there just to be able to do that all virtually was amazing and so I I told him I said this is a cool idea the expense is really cool I said really high so I said we've got to get that figured out but a very there's some nice pieces out there we also checked on Turf because we've kind of talked about the turf in that uh area up at North Elementary and they told us that was about $60,000 yeah I had spitball the number of a quarter million and they no it's not a quarter million they said it would be roughly 60 to 65,000 we also checked on the Vans a little bit there too so for the wheelchair accessible those um Ford Transit still makes the chassis so it does say Ford on there because I said I'm baffled I thought Ford stopped or so why can't we get a hold of these and uh the one sales rep said well they don't make them anymore well they make the chassis it still says Ford on it but another company then puts the seats in it and makes it handicap accessible and so two companies had those available or I know Jake is working with one company those seats actually flip up so you can get the two wheelchairs in there but if you didn't have the wheelchairs they could flip down that where they're not certain if they would meet DOT inspections so that gentleman is checking with them to see if they'll actually certify that because we made it pretty clear excuse me that we didn't want to buy one of those and find out when you're down the road we're already selling because it doesn't work the other one had the fixed seats in the exact same bang but then it was fewer if you didn't because the it was fixed seats and the wheelchairs could go in the back could have the two chairs it was a difference of between five and eight right I think was what the numbers were um but that one was ready to go and Dot inspected but those are also expensive I was a little surprised when it was $85,000 for one of those vehicles but we'll evaluate that to see because it does help our special ed um department for them to transfer you know transport students especially for some of their work based learning and things like that was it one of those less expensive one where you don't have full down seats well they the one that the one that didn't have the fold down seats that was uh there we can look at right um but they also had a a lease program that was was super interesting that was uh essentially the money was all refunded from the state you know you you pay the the first year of the lease and then year six of the lease you don't have a payment but you still get a a rebate back from the state for that lease payment so essentially he was saying that you know you could you could get a van for basically free um with the the program that he was talking about I suppose if it covers under special ed special special ed have equipment y he was extremely director of transportation for 20 years he he really had a deep pretty deep knowledge base I think that a do exploring yeah and he had good support because he said his wife was the Chief Financial Officer because sometimes you get n one of those Transportation guys you they make it sound like it's free and then you get into it but he goes well then my wife is actually a CFO I think for one of the larger Metro school districts so like well he probably does understand how that all works so I will ask Todd about that too as well to see where that how that would all work out sounds good anything else I would look for a motion to adjourn in a second all in favor say I motion carries time do you have there I have 743
