Hoffman have we received and nor do we need to act on any correspondence? You have received all correspondence at this time. Thank you, sir. Good evening. Good evening. I have bought lots of good news tonight. So we're going to get started because we've got a lot to get through first. I'd like to bring up Eric Hulen, our director of Widefield Parks and Recreation, he is going to be sharing a little bit about a conference that they attended and a special award for one of his staff members. Awesome. Do we get to hear about the Polar Plunge? Okay. Good evening. If I could have Nicole Reeves come up and join me. But just recently, Nicole. First of all, Nicole Ruiz is the manager at Park and Rec and she was honored just recently at our annual car Parks and Recreation conference. And what she was awarded for was the Colorado. Association of recreation Sports better known as Kara as the professional the year. And this award goes to a current outstanding member of The Care Organization who has gone above and beyond their role and seen as a leader. Within Cara and within their own department or organization. She has served as the carrot chairperson for the past two years and has had roles for the past six. So a big award within the recreation community, and we're really honored to have a member of our staff, be awarded. So, here's a goal reads. Thank you. Yes. So are explain the award. It's really an honor that I was nominated by peers and chosen by peers to win this award, I'm grateful for the opportunity to get to represent the wide field Community, Widefield, Parks and Rec, as well as the school district, within the recreation agencies across the state and it brings a lot of notoriety and recognition to us and what we're doing here. Congratulations. So we have some student recognitions next. I'd like to welcome Terri Brungardt and Carlos Lopez. As I mentioned last month, we had three teams qualify for the first Lego League state championship and you're going to hear from those teams a little bit later, but I will have Terri and Carlos start. Alright, once again, it gives us great pleasure to be before you, we have the opportunity to speak to you in the month of November and share the successes of our district as we had hosted our first Lego League challenge. El Paso County qualifier as we do every year at Janet L, and at the time, of course, we had a number of schools across the Widefield School. District that perform particularly. Well, once again, kudos to those coaches, those teams those admin teams at those buildings for staying confident in those students and providing opportunities for them to be part of strict events of this. This kind last month, we were celebrating that particular event as we shared at the time, very briefly, last month this year was the first time that Widefield shined as well as it had with three states or three. I'm sorry, three teams from Widefield School District progressing to the state level. And we have some great news to share. Not only just the outcomes of our Paso County qualifier and having those teams with us tonight. But also some news that I want to leave with Miss Terri Brungardt regarding one of our of our adult coaches in District, who receive from very special recognition at the state level as well. So with that, let me turn it over to Terri Brungardt. So as Carlos alluded to and everybody else, we've had a tremendous season, the best season we've ever had, we're really excited about that. And we have three teams that were going to be recognizing. So we're going to be recognizing the French team, not only because of their success at the qualifier, but it's state. But it the qualifier they received first place in the core values award section. And that is excellent. You know, to take first place and make it to state. Then we had Jackie Krablean who coached the submerging Marine cougars and their team took first place in Innovation project award they did well Miss Jackie Krablean also was recognized his State this year as the coach Mentor at state level at the state level. So that's a tremendous honor to be able to get that at the state level. And then of course, our third team that we have this evening is the A cougars coached by Kathy Morgan and Jordan McCarthy, and they are the GMC, a mountain lions. They also took first place in robot design, but they also ended up with the peer award, which is a brand new award to that qualifier and that's recognition from fellow teams. So, we did extraordinarily well, on December, the 7th, all three teams were up at State. A very long day, it goes from about 7:00 in the morning to about 5:00 in the evening. So it's a very full but it's packed with action and I know that you're going to get excited to hear about all of their favorite things. This is a huge event. This is 50 teams from across the state about 250 competitors easily and so it's a great opportunity for them to shine. They all did well, I think they had a fantastic day and so you're going to get a chance to hear from them and just a second. So if we could bring up Amber Orton and Daniel Kahneman, Campos and their team members so that they can tell you their favorite thing from the season and their favorite thing about going to state. Dance around you. Then you guys can take the stage. So think about what was one thing that you guys really liked about our competition. Come on. You guys. Come tell us. Come on. Use your outdoor voices. Yeah, so when we went to State, what was our big accomplishment? Truth. Yeah, but I would say I was really proud of you guys because all of the things we set out to do, we were able to accomplish and it wasn't until our very last run that we did each of the missions. We tried to do so, we were very proud of you as coaches for that. How did you guys feel when you presenting your Innovation project? My favorite part was and she said the hotel. Any questions from the board? So, is that one of the rewards right here on your neck? Awesome. We're so proud of you guys. Awesome job and I love the shirt. Yes. Awesome. Next, I'd like to bring up Jackie crab lean and the submerging Marine cougars from King Elementary School and she's going to be able to share her cool trophy. And this is the submerging Marine. Cougars. My favorite part about doing both of the competitions and getting 2. State is probably spending time with my friends and my coaches. Cool. My favorite part about this date. What's getting to me up? Was getting to meet people on different teams at school. My favorite part about the, like, both of the competitions, where the people that I met during those hard times. My parents are spending time with 19 and working together to get things done. Awesome. And they got first place in the Innovation project. That it that's awesome. Can you hold your award up? So that we are very nice. Congratulations guys. Awesome job. And next would love to have Kathy Morgan and Jordan McCarthy from the JMC mountain lions. Come up and show all of their cool bling too. That's lots of stuff. Hi, my name is Alice and I'm on the JMC a mountain lion team that the FLL competition at janitor was so much fun. We love climbing the trees during the breaks and we were super excited to win the piers award from Webster. Get the first place in robot design and move on to the state competition at the state competition in Denver. There were 50 teams, it was an awesome to see. As robots and projects, we had a great time cheering for other teams and they cheered for for us to in the last match, we got our highest score for the season. FLL is a really cool Community where we learn about robot, design, coding, teamwork, and problem-solving. My favorite part of all the teams at state was their Innovation projects. I just love to see how they made them and which what they were. There you go. Nice. It's okay. It's okay. Yeah, congratulations. Is that your robot? Was that your robot? That is very nice. Just one quick thing. I don't know if you had a chance, to notice the cool Lego trophy that was this special coach Mentor award that she received from state. So I just want you to draw attention to that. So she's got that. Thank you for hearing about the great season. Thank you for what you doing, driving all of that. Alright next, I'd like to bring up George Smith, the head cross country coach at Mesa Ridge. High School. George is also a social studies teacher and the assistant track and field coach. And he is here tonight to talk about the girls and boys cross country teams, and share some successes from the season. All right. Yeah, thank you for having us as said I'm coach Smith, George Smith, I work at Mesa Ridge. I've been the head coach over there for two years now, and assistant there for about six, seven years before that. But really we wanted to come out tonight and just celebrate the kids. The season that they put together was nothing short of tremendous. A lot of them are here tonight. They hustled over from other cactuses and other games which is a pretty big Testament to the type of kids that they are. But first off, first thing, we want to highlight. Yeah, come on up, go ahead. First thing we want to highlight is this was the the biggest team in school history. In fact, there were many meats that we had to take two buses to across country and we don't buy, which is pretty unheard off. We had almost 60 athletes on the roster at one time which for a cross-country team is pretty incredible. We ran our first The summer Grizzly, cross-country camp. We had over 30 students that spent their summer with us at Camp which was just an awesome experience. We had eight athletes. Be awarded all-league honors, including three freshmen. We had seven athletes be awarded academic. All-State Awards to be eligible for academic. All-State athletes must be a junior or senior. They must have a 3.75 GPA and they must be evolved. T State qualifier we would have had 18 Athletes if they want freshmen and sophomores. So again, a pretty big Testament to how well, rounded and just incredible. These kids are we had the highest ever Regional finish for both boys and girls team at the Regional Championship this season. The boys achieved their highest ever State, finish at the state championship in school history and the lady, Grizzly's qualified for the state championships for the first time ever in school history. So pretty incredible. Sam right? Seeing you, we have a kip to is Kim to isn't here. Today. Kip to, as a freshman Garrett, Bristol is a senior Johnny Roan isn't here today. He's a saw, he's a junior. Richard Otto is a senior Calvin Edwards, a junior Felix, rosaldo a sophomore and Keegan spezial ID is also a sophomore on the lady side. We have any robots. Oh, and Tyson I forgot about Tyson Tyson says so Sophomore to sorry, Tyson and hero Birds is our senior Haley roses, a junior and about Jackson. A freshman, she's here tonight, Riley. Magnus is is right there. She's a, she's a freshman and Yancy is a junior. Gabby Moore has a junior Layla show who you may have just seen one that outstanding ROTC scholarship. So, again, pretty incredible group of kids, Cassidy Hackathorn sophomore and rain is Sanchez. Has seen you so just super proud. Of them. They worked so hard this season put in the miles in the summer. Put in the miles in the season. Sacrificed a lot and made some pretty tremendous school history along the way. So super proud of them, my assistant coaches couldn't be here tonight. Mr. Coach Roberts, might be here, he was just coaching a girl's basketball game over at Watson and then Chantal, Schultz and math teacher. He's right there. There's coach robe, it's right there. So yeah, just insanely proud of them couldn't couldn't ask for a better group of Kids. So definitely appreciate you guys. Letting us come and recognize their achievements this season. So, thank you. If you haven't come, watch them. Run. Come watch them. Wrong. Is there special? We see. All right, so next we have a couple of Community Partners that we like to recognize tonight. We would like to start by inviting up mr. Robert Grossman with, I love care. Mr. Grossman and his business partner Keegan Meyer have been serving our schools through the no vision Left Behind program and mr. Grossman is here to talk a little bit about that. So I'm going to let you have the podium. Good evening. Good evening on behalf of the I love care team. Thank you for our honor tonight. Students with uncorrected vision, are at a distinct disadvantage in our world. People with uncorrected vision, make up a large portion of those living at or below the poverty level. I love care focuses on Title, 1 schools in order to level the playing field and offer these children. The opportunity to excel our motto is, if you can't see it, you can't learn it. For those of you who are unfamiliar with us I love care brings full Optometry Lanes into Title, One schools. The cop offer comprehensive Vision Care to the students, this is if Vision where's is needed. We have 150 frames. They pick from we bring that back with an optician. We fit them in the school. All of this is done in the school, not only do we do this, but part of our comprehensive Vision plan includes checking the health of the eyes as well. In our time in schools, we've had we found students as old as 10 years old who can't see the biggie on the screen. You can imagine what kind of difficulty. They've had their whole student career. This particular student, I remember seeing we got him glasses within a week. His teacher came back to us and said I had no idea how brilliant this kid was. Yeah. So the other thing we've had is we found some health health issues and have caught a few precancerous Conditions, as well, and gotten the kids, their proper Health as well if a student has insurance. We built it. If not, if they don't have anything at all, we cover everything regardless of their ability to pay. So we call this our no vision Left Behind program. Most of all we appreciate your District. Partnering with us to to help your students because together we're working both from an education standpoint and a health standpoint to ensure they have a better future. So again, thank you for this honor and happy holidays. Love the beard. I wouldn't be able to see it without the glasses. So thank you. There you go. That is serviced. This is it a semester or this year? We service, students. Okay, we have our area in our day, in your District. We started off in the year doing it. We did know, Elementary genital as well. And yeah, we've been doing this for a couple years. We started off in 2022 with six schools. We now Service, District to District, 3, District 8, District 11 district one in Denver. We We have we're looking with District 60, we're down to 70 and Pueblo as well. I mean, we have just this going crazy with really good news. Yeah, the biggest problem we have is finding doctors, you know, optometrist to be able to go into the schools and do this and the teams to support them. But I mean, if you ever have the opportunity to go into a school and were there, please walk in. Take a look at it. We typically have two doctors and a team of five people. Who go through and we'll see anywhere from 20 to 50 kids a day. It's really it's an amazing thing that we've been able to do. The whole thing is it makes us feel so good to me. We see that one kid who whose eyes just they did they just brighten because they can actually see. It's it's so warming. It's so heartwarming. Do you? So thank you for being with us. I'm sorry. Do you take donations of you know frame? James, we actually supplied all we are business plan, we had no idea the business was going to do this and I'm the CFO of the company. And I'm in the process right now of developing of foundation, aside from our country are companies that we can get better grant money. We've gotten grant money from ccha because we also do this in the general population. As well, we take our, our units, all over the place, Fair up to Fairfield and all kind. I mean, it's crazy and Got a grant to cover adults because any adult any person over the age of 20? Medicaid does not cover. I wear, it covers the exam but does not cover the eyewear. So through our grant, we've been able to, I think the past year we've been able to about 480, 490 pairs of glasses for Indigent people who could not afford it. So it's just it's amazing. We do love doing this and we appreciate you partnering with us because the more kids we see the better the opportunities they have to thank you. Any other questions? Yes. So how do you identify the children in need at the school's? I do, we do Title, One schools. So we send out a, we have a flyer that we give out the parents, we have them do an email where they can, then the flyer includes the intake form because, you know, it's Optometry. So it's a full medical thing. And we also have an online Forum where they can either do a QR code. We send a link through the email from the school where they can sign up online and typically, when we go into school, the first time we go in will have anywhere from 40 to 50 initially, sign up. And once the word gets out, next thing, you know we're at a hundred and it's just amazing. I mean me see Pinello went initially from 60 to our first year. I think we saw 147 this year so I mean it's amazing. We come back every year. And the great thing is we actually bring the optician into the school to fit the glasses. Once that once, we've got them done. I'll we also have a program where if they break their glasses or lose? Their glasses during the year, we will replace him at no extra charge. Wow, and we have a number of kids that are in foster homes and stuff like that where the glasses are left their home. So we get a second pair for the school and it's kept by the nursing school for them as well, whatever we can do to make it. For the kids that's really appreciate that. Thank you. We need to encourage this because, like, you say, if you can see it, you can learn it, you know, exactly? Yes. So, thank you very much. We really appreciate. Thank you. All right. And last, but certainly not least, we have another great community partner. We'd like to recognize Mr. Bob Leiver your, if you could, please come up to the podium. Bob is with More Books in Children's Hands. And he has been serving our schools for several years and I'm just going to let Bob come and tell you a little bit about that program. Thank you board members for letting me be here and you know, you got these useless little bags. Yeah you know they're not really going to do with these right $100 worth of groceries. In your bags is a talking sheet that gives you some data about us as a group and also a bookmark. Whoa. And you can use your grocery more books in children's hands. We form this organization, almost three years ago now to honor my late wife who was an elementary school teacher and realize that a lot of not a lot, but a number of children, don't have many books at home. And so what we did was we form this organization to give children in preschool and kindergarten, primarily a bag with five books in them and they can just take them on home. And the reason we specialize in preschool and kindergarten is because there's other groups that do the older older children. So we just went with with. So this is one that actually has books in it and they do Fitzy. The perfect. But I will tell you that we're hoping to hit 10,000 books by the end of the school year. And we work with all the different districts and Widefield was our first by the way, Trisha that. Let us in if you will, to work with the children and when we come in, We bring one of our volunteers who's going to read a story to the children and then after my introduction a little bit, I told him about Rufus. Rufus is the elephant that reads books and Rufus was a story for my father-in-law told the children about Rufus the elephant. So we took that along with us but what we read a story to him and then we talked with him a little bit about it books. If one of the children is a Reader. We invite them up and after identified by the teachers and then and then we give them their bags and depending on the time frame and depending on what the teacher schedule is, we allow them to exchange but they might have those at home and our books come from book drives and then we have to go through and sort them and determine which ones are the right age appropriate and what kind of conditioner in people go on Amazon. On and we have a list there that they can choose books from. And and then also we just purchased books from donations that we receive. So thank you for letting us visit your schools on the talker paper. The center column in the front are the White Field schools that we've been to. Okay maybe a little bigger put them in a center easy to spot. Okay but do you have any questions? Yes. So if that's right Amazon I can look that up and you have a right? Are we have a wish list of pre-approved books that our board has looked over? And said these are ones we'd like to have. Yeah, that's how we do that. Yeah, awesome. So so anyway. Well thank you again. And may you have a blessed holiday? Thank you. Dave Board of Education report. Yes, I'll start every month. I get to meet with mr. Dave, Gish just regarding operations plans and facility things going on in Mr. Gish couldn't make it this evening. I believe he's out to a quick trip to. I believe it was Dallas to meet up with his son and his daughter chance for them to get together for the holidays. Anyway, Last week ago today we met and talked about just things going on. I think Mesa Ridge is in the process of those boiler controls and they call that is in process probably they're still in the process of getting those in. I know they've got at least one HVAC unit over over. I believe the social studies area, that needs to be replaced, but all of those units are extremely old are going on like 28 years old. So, that is part of future project. Anyway, he also discussed the, the cap meetings that he has with all of the principles he gets around to every location, every principle, and we bring together that that sheet of priority list of capital repair, items and Renovations things that needs to needs to happen. We get that list along about February or March, and it has the highlighted things that show us the real priorities for each school, you know. If money were No Object, I mean that list would just go on and on because there are a lot is a lot of need and appreciate how he and his staff assign priorities and it does, it has to be on, they have to look at cost. They look at student learning as a priority safety and any reserves that they have to keep for emergencies. I think the next thing going on a year from now, there is preparation, talk and plans. When When the bond comes about that, I believe North preschool is going to be one of the, one of the big projects, He talks about talked about the replacement of some walls and so forth. They're so and really a pretty big project but that'll be that those plans would be ongoing and just it's good to know that there's a lot of Forward Thinking on the part of he and his staff. So they're trying very hard so thank you so much. Rudy Public Library. Well, we didn't have a meeting this month so every December we don't have a meeting, but I just wanted to remind parents and for our students that are going to be out. Please stop over and they you can use the glowforge machine. You can use the 3D printer and make all kinds of exciting things there. So sign up for one of the classes during you're doing your assist summer Christmas break, thank you man. Okay so I also did not I have a meeting this month for the deck so I don't have a report but I would like to give my American history moment. If I may on December 25th 1776. During the American Revolution, George Washington took two thousand four hundred of his men across the Delaware, River Washington. Then conducted a surprise raid on 1500 British and Hessian troops at Trenton, no New Jersey actions surrendered. After an hour with nearly 1,000 taken prisoner by Washington, who suffered only Funded including future, President James, Monroe, Victory provided a much-needed, boost to American morale. And I just want to also wish everybody a very merry Christmas and happy holidays and a very, very happy New Year. Widefield park and rec before I get to that, I would like to tell everybody that's tuned in tonight at home. Thank you very much for tuning in. We always look forward to you seeing us online. So thank you very much. Park and rec also did not meet this month, but we will be back together. January 9th, we did. However, put on, they did. However, put on the most spectacular tree lighting ceremony ever attended by four thousand of our community members. Wow, if you missed it this year, you don't want to miss it next year. So go ahead and put it on your calendar. I don't know the date though, for next year. But I'll Get that to you right away. This is we have it first Tuesday, I think anyway. And I heard through the grapevine, there could possibly be reindeer but don't don't don't mark it down yet. Just just, just a little anticipatory set there. Okay, and on the deer, well do what? We're going to rain on the deer going to rain on the deer. Absolutely. Okay. Other than that, everybody have a great Day. Can I well I forgot to add that. My next meeting will be Thursday, January 9th at 6 p.m. at the Mill and your next meeting is Thursday, January 9th. There will be our next week but also Merry Christmas and have a blessed new year. KF a public comment on school property, prohibits profanity or verbally abusive language behavior in or outside of the boardroom and an all district power property. She knew me as a model for the students served in wide field School District. Three. So we had one person sign up, David McGee. Do it. Come on up. Excuse me. Hello everyone. Thank you for hearing me. My gum. Try to keep it concise and brief my son. Devon Murphy goes to Mesa Ridge High School and he's on an IEP. I'm here to bring to your attention. The struggles we've had with ensuring that devons IP is it here too? Ever since he's been in the fourth grade, he started at Grand Mountain obviously, Colbert didn't Do any of us, any favors the effects that that pandemic and its ongoing? I suppose atmosphere that it's left. So affect a lot of us a lot differently, my son in the fourth grade we discovered, he was having some challenges with math and he has struggles with simultaneous processing. So PCS a big chunk of work. He'll stress out and the fourth grade, my son, Devon threatened to commit suicide. And unfortunately, at that time, we realized the hard way that we had to get him an IEP. So to fast-forward, now he's at Mesa Ridge and it's been a struggle there to get everyone. On the same page. Communication is a challenge for me. My MOS was Communications. I'm communicate, an expert in that area and just Collective communication into submission. Want to have a collective decision. Pot is important simply, you know, as IP has a lot of information in it, but if I could just Whittle it down. Weekly communication to identify what is in zayat he's or strengths or weaknesses were in the week and a weekly email something objective concrete that anyone else can see. It's what we were looking for. To just have an email to say this is how the bomb was at be there for two days out of the week, then that should be sent. On had been there since. So, beginning of August and right in the middle September, he was willing, he's just jamming it, he loves it, he's a football player pledge link and the really was given him some incentive, but Kovac still out there. It hasn't gone away. He got sick. He was out for a good week. So when he got back, he didn't get his allocated, time to do his makeup work, that has nothing to do with his IEP. And in particular, there was a struggle in English. So we contacted the school and now we're at the point where we've had to get an IP Advocate, we have a meeting that we're going to be forced to have tomorrow to review his IEP. And we're going to have to request it to get another evaluation done in short. It's unfortunate that I'd have to be here, trust me. I'd rather be at home, watching the Bronco game, right? But my son is important. I love him dearly and I don't And why we're at a point where one particular class in English refuses to give any similar accommodations. When I say similar, when he has a big chunk of work, he's not able to break it down and the English tea. / is the one that has not decided to, you know, compromise. We suggested doing the summary for some books, summary of a book, as you all know, is the same content. But what'll down down in the spirit of what we're talking about with reduce work. And unfortunately, we haven't gotten that. And it's like, okay well, what can he do is there anything he can do because he missed 30 days because of his anxiety, I would drive him to school and his stomach would be in such huge church that I couldn't get him out of the, the car I couldn't drag him into school. He would just sit there like for an hour before he would go in, and it was because of English. He was going to ever give the class. But that one's. So I just wanted to bring to your attention that hopefully, this is the last time I have to renounce this and bring this to your attention that, you know, adherent to IEPs seems like a very simple and straightforward. Let's call it entitlement. He's entitled to that, but yet, for whatever reason, we're not receiving that entitled, right? And I don't understand why we've had to escalate it first to the dean been to the principal then to I believe there's a district supervisor or District director over the middle schools and high schools 70. How then last year, I had to speak with the previous superintendent where he got involved and he was released willing to help out but he's retired. Since then this year, I have not been able to get in contact with the superintendent, I've called multiple times and I get like a voice mail and unfortunately, I didn't get, I got the secretary and Unfortunately, I didn't I haven't been able to get to the superintendent today so according to my Advocate, she said would be a good idea. This was the perfect form for me to at least express my concerns and hopefully we'll get some sort of traction where a simple thing like instead of reading Lord of the Rings, what is it? The Hunger Games, a summary on The Hunger Games when we're dealing with a child that has an IEP would be something that's suitable. Well, instead of telling him which is to quote an English teacher, well you're just not going to be able to do anything about it and you're going to fail and you're going to have to, you know, take summer school and to be stonewalled and not given any sort of accommodation just doesn't make sense to me. So hopefully you understand my concern and that's what I wanted to convey again. Hopefully I don't have to come back and say this again, I prefer to be watching the Bronco game. Again, I don't understand what that what the challenge has been ever since he's been in the fourth grade and now he's a freshman every year. It has been a fight and if you have any questions, I'd be willing to add answer any of those questions or think. Yes. Mr. McGee. Has it? Yes, we would certainly acknowledge the issue in the end. The process you're going through, and I would, I would reach out to mr. Hoffman to. And I don't know. What all communication has happened but perhaps there can be some follow-up. Absolutely, through whatever proper channels just to make sure we're understanding where he's at and any further help that can be given. I know there's policies that we have to follow through the whole process so it's got to be a two-way street but hopefully maybe we can follow up a little bit. So as your phone number that you have on the sheet, you're real to me. 9050 know, don't ya? I could care less. No, no I know that God could know But is it accurate? So yeah, yeah, well we'll get ahold of hey, I'm on mr. Hoffman easy to find so yeah, you can contact me. Okay, my apologies but literally it is been I had to come down here. So you knew that I needed some help. We hear you appreciate it and get will mr. Hoffman will get a hold of people being appreciated. Y'all have a blessed. Thank you for your service to your welcome. Thank you. Thank you example. Bye. Miss Amy. It's mrs. Carter. Come on down. Terry's given the I so I don't have to do this. You know, you can come visit the okay. So I'm just going to clarify that one. Okay, sorry. Thank you, good evening. All right, so I would like to share with you tonight some statistics about Career and Technical education, or otherwise, CTE as we call it in short, the acronym, and our district, as well as the recent successes. So CTE secondary programing. So for the programs that you see that are listed here, you can see that our District offers a variety of opportunities to students to help make informed decisions. And choices about career paths, these programs are supported financially through, Grant specific to state and federal funding streams. The Colorado Technical act, which is a state Grant. And the Carl Perkins Grant, which is federal with approximately 2,500 students that are enrolled in. CTE classes, every year, these grants ensure that our teachers and students have access to relevant and Current equipment recommended by industry to maximize their ability to understand and learn the skills required and just a little snapshot here. The money that we received last year for 2324 from reimbursement, from the state, Grant with 650,000 $192, and the Perkins Federal grant gave us a T-1000 $274. These figures actually represent the average of the funding that the district receives yearly through these sources. And this is to support consumables, tools and Technology necessary. These programs. The next slide here. This slide shows the current CTE programs that offer industry certifications through the career development incentive program or see tip this incentive program in partnership with c d e and the Colorado. Workforce Development Council offers this District a reimbursement of up to a thousand dollars per certification issued to students. The certifications are based on information that's collected and distributed through the yearly Colorado. Talent pipeline report similar to CTA and Perkins, this funding is designed To sustain programming. Specifically, we're certifications are offered. See tips helped removes barriers for students by paying testing fees and other resources needed for certification. And as you can see up here, we have in 2324. The certifications that were issued was 312 within the district and a reimbursement of a hundred, eighty four thousand five hundred dollars. And we started the partnership when seed up with back in 2018. So since then, we have issued 1483 total certifications and a reimbursement of five thousand eight hundred dollars. As a district, we've been able to support these efforts and help close gaps for students to connect with the world of work by earning industry certifications and using it as a launching point for their career. They choose All right, and to sum it up here. I've just got a few successes, just 34 tonight, we could go on and on, of course, about all the wonderful things that happened in CTE there, dozens and dozens of course, but specifically tonight I have three about work-based, learning certifications, and cross-curricular instruction. I mean, the first success that you see listed on here, the left, we had three students that were part of the auto draft day and where approximately, there was five local school districts and there were 12 different auto businesses that participated. As you can see these students were offered Internships at Phil Long, Ford Pharisee, Dodge, and McBurney auto group. Students were interviewed on the spot and earned an internship based on their skills, knowledge and desire to work in the industry. The second success I have up here is about students. That are interested in the health science field here in wide field. With the Sea Dip reimbursement. They have the ability to earn different certifications outside of the classroom such as phlebotomy, medical assistant, pharmacy, tech, or certified nursing assistant. If they choose currently, we have 12 students who are participating between wide field of Mesa Ridge. And the third success here, refers to the collaboration between art in the theater, students. The CTE multimedia art students at Mesa Ridge, have worked alongside the technical theater students to design, paint sets, arranged stage props, and create costumes for school productions, such as Dracula Beauty and the Beast. So they work together to take care of that. All right. So in closing, all right, these obviously these are just a few examples of successes of how CTE can leverage our local Workforce and our education system, so that each learner has a quality experience leading to lifelong learning and success in their career. Fruit of their choice. Are there any questions? yeah, I know you've probably told us this before, but how do we broadcast and at what age groups class, or Years of school. Are we broadcasted? How do we get the word out to students that they can participate in these things? In our CTE, programs in general, or in, are we getting the word out pretty thoroughly to through some kind of advertisement or, you know? Yes, so patients. So when it comes to the classes themselves, actually work directly to the buildings and we will put that the principal is actually, as well as the core counselors collagen care coordinators to make sure that they advertise those. We also work with the teachers themselves to make sure that they're promoting their program, because that's important. These are the experts in the content area. The certifications is a different beast in Brandon Morgan who works with work-based. Learning also helps facilitate that alongside with the Sarah ending in our CD department. So we actually are going live this month with our community CTE newsletter. We've been issuing a C2 e newsletter for the past year and a half. Now in District kind of a branding thing. If you will for CTE and we are just now going to launch that to the community so they can see all the great things that happen What opportunities they have here in our district. It's really good and I just want to thank you for presenting to us on Tuesday, as well. Oh yeah. And and showing how those that are associated with CTE classes, their graduation rate is 15 basis points higher. So getting involved in CTE is very helpful for student achievement. So well, thank you for letting us be there because the students was great. So thank you for listening and hearing about was probably too great so thank you. All right, thank you. I think mr. Hulan is going to be coming back. It's time for the heat Plunge. Don't want to hear la la. All right. Good evening. And again, thank you for an opportunity for me to come and really brag on the park and rec department and all the things that we do and impact our community. So to kind of start off every year, our leadership team goes on a retreat in which we go off-site, and we begin to plan for this. Next year, we work on, you know, revisiting our vision, making sure that our mission statement is. It and then we develop a year theme that we base all of our professional goals around and this year with the expansion and growth of our department, it was Embrace growth and that Embrace growth really was. Also the challenges that come with that, that we felt that the growth was important and that the challenge is shouldn't get in the way of what we want to accomplish. And so what we did was over this last year as we developed a growth mindset, within our existing staff culture, we Eyes, departments and added several Parks and Rec professionals. We expanded our sponsorship program to bring more Revenue to support our free community events. We grew programming in the recreation center, we converted the multi-purpose grass. Field, on our main campus to artificial artificial turf, we started a 10-year tree plan at our parks and our main campus. And when completed several Capital Improvement projects, including at our pool, and splash park. Now we couldn't have accomplished this without the amazing staff that we have along with the guidance and oversight of our Advisory Board. And then the hundreds of volunteers who work tirelessly to serve our Recreation needs of our community. The recreation department has grown to over 200 employees. And last year, we had 300, volunteers helped, assist our programming. Now, with that growth and expansion, we had to create a new department that didn't exist before and that was our guest services staff. Our guests Services Department, greets patrons, when they enter the recreation center and they are experts in memberships and serving the needs of our guests. Here are some of the stats from our admission and membership. Is that last year? We had over 100,000 guest visits at the between the Aquatic and the recreation center. And we have 4,000 active members. Are at Whitefield Parks and Rec, we have our own independent grounds and, you know, maintenance departments who work in conjunction and collaboration with our district facilities, and grounds departments. And these were some of the projects that we accomplished last year over that time and throughout the presentation. You know, as we wanted to embrace growth, you'll see that little graphic for a new. You'll see all the new things that were offering. The aquatics Department, it continues to be busy. We had over 44 of 40,000 visits to the pool last year. We created three new programs and to Big major accomplishments for us is that we had the outdoor pools and the splash park open and operating from Memorial Day through Labor Day and did not close any of our aquatic facilities. Due to the laugh of lack of lifeguards. We are one of the only few creation agencies in the state that can say that we've met regularly with surrounding agencies to say, what are we doing different? And how are we creating a positive work culture and recruiting and retaining quality? Aquatic staff? In our Arts and Cultural Services Department. We also have our special events and bear trap the holiday tree lighting, which was mentioned earlier, was our biggest to date and it is confirmed. Next year, we will have reindeer, some new programs is that we created an art Club to provide programming that supports our adult Fitness classes. So as parents are getting fit and healthy kids are getting creative with our art classes. We have Grant, we had a grant funded teen diversity night. We Had adult cooking classes and cooking with our German is one of our most popular we had over 4,000. Participants attend our free, special events last year and that doesn't count the single event. We have for our tree lighting. We also increase sponsorship Revenue by 2500 and created a partnership with the Fountain Valley Senior Center to host a craft fair. Our license programs. This is also a new Department with the expansion of our Universal preschool and our child watch. We needed to kind of consolidate Under One Roof. We combined our licensing under a single license, and a department to kind of work together. And, again, we've always had license programs, we just haven't grown to the point where we needed what we have now you Sports You Sports increase participation with upgraded facilities at the rec center field added to also was the first-ever Whitefield School District, elementary track meat and we also added archery back into our programming in our adult sports. Our adult sports. We saw an increase in pickleball lessons. We also offer for the first time, a pickleball and kickball adult leagues, the increase in programs and participation validated and increase in staff. And this year, we had an additional Recreation professional to our Sports Department. Our fitness it expanded, we expanded our group fitness class offerings to over 60 classes. That's including 10 brand-new classes, never offered, monthly class, participants is averaging about 2,300. That's an increase of about fourteen hundred a month. We also increased our insurance Health path pass Revenue to over 108 percent from last year. And as a result of that over 600 free, senior memberships were offering We average about 275 daily users into our fitness area. Now, being the only Parks and Recreation Department in the state that's owned and operated by a school district gives us unique opportunities to support schools. We helped fund the elementary intramural and Robotics programs. We also donated over 200,000 dollars to sport a for sports equipment, and for sports equipment. And for the junior high schools, and the use of our facilities, for several High School sports tournaments, meets competitions and classes. Now, for our financial report, over the last five years, our income is increased over three million dollars. We've also seen an equal increase in expenses. Providing high level impact, programming activities, and Facilities to the community, like smoke, like most organizations. Our greatest expense salaries, we recruit and retain, quality staff, and investing. In the people in Widefield are important and over a million dollars of our salary. Expenses goes to. Are part-time and seasonal employment. Those are high school kids and seniors and you know other community members that we give back too. And it's also an opportunity for many of them to get their very first job experience and a lot of our retirees just like to be part of a team again. In regards to our income, the rise of income, this past year, reflects the increase in tax revenue and record number of participants in our programming. Here's how the income is kind of broken down put a program, our three biggest gains were in the license programs Fitness and our memberships. Our expenses went up last year's while we invested in capital Improvement projects during the slow months, early in the year and continued paying for construction at the new recreation center. Those are our total expenses broken down. Now, the conservation. Trust those are Lottery funds that are that come to us. We've been building for several years to complete three projects. We started the first year of a ten year. Tree planting project through our Parks, we upgraded the HVAC units at the Aquatic Center. We also finished converting our grass multi-purpose field into artificial turf. Now, what's next? Because we're not done yet. So our theme for this year would be a unified approach to support Innovation and opportunities. We're not satisfied with the status quo. We want to assess areas of growth and put an intentional intentional plan to strengthen our weaker areas. We want to build structures that promote collaboration and we want to continue Capital Improvement projects at the pool. We also are starting a five to in year funding plan for The Aquatic phase of the recreation center. All right, any questions she had to walk through to get to the pool and now it's completely impressive. And we're, you know, we're really thankful that you've been at the helm of this for so long and doing all these great things for the community. It's I've taken one more thing. I wanted to ask is are these going to be flying reindeer? I can't confirm that. I just know they will be reindeer present at the tree lighting. Thank you guys. Yes, just say thank you for the Mets and the pool. That is awesome. Good, really awesome. I'm glad nice very nice good. Well, thank you guys. Have a great evening and happy holidays. Thanks man.
