##VIDEO ID:qwfiH2zgVjo## [Music] [Music] all right everyone uh welcome to Woodbridge Township the best town around uh mayor McCormack is out of town so you're stuck with the JV team that's me I'm Greg fic councilman and joining me uh Debbie Mian Sharon McCulla and Howard Bower from our Council uh so we're here to kind of I don't want to say celebrate but recognize that it's hydropolis awareness month and Michael and Kim Ellens along with Cole are here to help us celebrate this has been going on since they started it uh not only they are they involved on the local and state level but obviously the national level and they bring that right here to Woodbridge so we like to join them in this month of awareness so I'm not going to take the time to read the entire uh Awareness Month Proclamation because there's a lot of whereases and therefor fors but we're going to uh Michael or Kim whoever wants to speak oh I saw that right away all right Michael come up and tell us a little bit about the foundation and some of the things you're working on all right thank you very much first I want to thank everybody for being here a very good crowd we have about 20 people here so thank you for coming tonight right now we have three children here with hydris as we raise the flag in a few minutes for hydr month between the three of them ages infant through 19 years old we have a total of 46 brain surgeries for the three of them the only treatment for hydris which is layman terms if you don't know what it is is water on the brain and the only treatment is brain surgery and it may be one it be over 100 or as I mentioned it could be 46 between three young children and infant to 19 years old the Pediatric hydrus Foundation was founded in 2009 literally in our home in Woodbridge New Jersey for the first 8 nine years before we were able to get an office our bedroom was the the Cole's bedroom was the office our dining room table was the conference room and our living room was our inventory uh area where we kept all the merchandise and everything and uh Kim's father made her our first office desk and it was a little made a little lopsided so for the first eight years we had to work this way to the left as the desk was shifting all the time we now have an office in Woodbridge Township the best town around we've been there for the last seven eight years as we celebrate our 15year anniversary and our mission statement is clear we raise money for research it's lacking at the national level Federal level and what we try to do is raise money for research we fund our own research projects by going out and solic listening from various children's hospitals and hospitals that are doing hydril specific research we've made a lot of progress in the 15 years that we've been in existence we funded non-invasive technology to detect a shunt failure which is the medical device that goes in the person's brain that has hydris we've done some other research trying to find a cure for hydris and more importantly yet well that is more importantly but just as important the causes of hydris the way to cure it is to stop the causes and there's over 50 different reasons why you can get hydris the less causes that we can solve the less chances there are for hydrus and that's our mission right now as we stand we have 25 State chapters we run events all over the country we run five events here in New Jersey alone we have a walk that's coming up in September 21st you can go to our website at phf kids.org that's phf kids.org we have even have a little donate button you can click if you want to make a tax deductible donation to our cause of funding a cure for hydris and with that being said I want to thank you all we're going to raise the flag September it's hydris awareness month we also have one of the children here is also our national Ambassador just so happens is the second child from New Jersey that was selected as an ambassador of Hydra saas we do one male one female every year we've been doing that for about 12 years now this is our 13th year that we've done this we usually go to Washington uh it's been a little more difficult since the pandemic to put a trip like that together but through the year we recognize the um issue of raising awareness and using the two hydris national ambassadors to help us do that does ell want to come up and just be seen by the camera this is Ellery she is eight years old she has had four total brain surgeries she is our female National Ambassador for 2024 she will be given all the goodies that comes with being an ambassador um at our walk in SE setember we have some surprises for her then as well um the work is looking good we should raise close to $40,000 that's a big a lot of money that we can use towards research we have walks taking place in other areas of the country we're setting up events for next year already like I mentioned we do the most events in New Jersey of any of the states we've already had a couple we've done a derby brunch here in Woodbridge we have our walk coming up September 21st you can sign up at phf kids.org um we do other things we have a DAT at the races at Mammoth Park and we also have many other events as well we also have a breakfast coming up SE October 13th at the Elks Lodge in Woodbridge for a breakfast on Sunday October 13th so with that being said like I mentioned before Let's uh Take It Outside and uh give you the than I just want to notice folks Michael's the one talking but he looks over to Kim and Kim Whispering so we really know I'm just a puppet
